So I did a chapter in which Ranko's fear of cats is revealed, but I wanted to do a chapter in which Ryoga and Asami see Ranko turn Neko Ken

Kuno is a jerk, Asami goes protective mama and uses martial arts and Ryoga bonds with Neko Ranko

Lots of fluffy cuteness, enjoy

Ranko gripped a bag of shopping in either hand, whistling to herself as she headed home for the evening. Asami had asked her to get ingredients for dinner, something she was genuinely enjoying. It brought her a sense of comfort, reminding her of her old home and allowing distractions from the various problems that occurred in her life. It also allowed her to make her own lunch for school and learn independence for herself. She would be able to provide her for herself and Ryoga, not only for when they became a married couple but when she was able to find a flat of her own when she decided to attend college and plan out her future. She needed to learn to stand on her own feet if she was to survive in the world. She knew her father was an old fashioned sexist, the only reason he taught her martial arts was that she was his daughter and only heir, but he was enjoying seeing her take on the traditional housewife duties of cooking and such. He wanted Ranko to be a good wife to Ryoga and represent their family names so their children and his grandchildren would be able to take over in their place someday. The tradition of family lineage and all that. He was pushing all of his morals, traditions and beliefs onto Ryoga, which was causing the latter to become annoyed. Given Genma was the biggest hypocrite they all knew, boasting about honour then using underhanded means to get what he wanted. Doting on Ryoga as his future son in law and heir to the Hibiki school of survival martial arts, combining it with the Saotome anything goes school. He wanted their schools to combine to become stronger so their military style could grow and develop, but without considering his daughters feelings on the matter. Given they were both sixteen, still in high school and had their own plans. Ranko's seemingly normal adolescence was ripped from her, forcing her to mature from a young age to adapt to dealing with Genma's antics. Eventually able to place roots in Nerima upon moving in with Nodoka and Ryoga, meaning she didn't have to worry about leaving or moving away. She could relax and become familiar with her surroundings, no more goodbyes. She had been separated from her mother at a young age thus being denied this sort of motherly bonding, being able to share this with Asami meant the world to her. If not for smuggled pictures, letters and memories, Ranko would have never known she had a mother or even remembered who she was. The fact that she even had a parent other than Genma in her life. Reminded of how unlucky she was and how screwed up her life was, but little did she know her luck was about to worsen.

"Pigtailed girl, how fortuitous that we should meet like this" Kuno responded cheerily, she was alone and abandoned by that lazy cur Hibiki. Left unguarded of some lowlife scum who may attempt to steal her shopping. What kind of man didn't accompany a woman when shopping, helping her with the heavy load of it all and protecting her from attackers. For a woman to be alone was unsafe, but of course how could she predict such dangers befalling her. It was a good thing he came across her, so he could accompany her home. Wondering where she was going with her food, perhaps her mother sent her for ingredients, what a thoughtful person she was. It only caused his admiration for her to grow.

Ranko sighed in frustration, well there went her happy mood of brief alone time. She swore Kuno must have had a nose like a bloodhound to be able to pick up on when she was in the area. Didn't he have any other hobbies or interests to keep him occupied? If Ryoga didn't have training and homework, he would have come with her, keeping an eye on for Kuno and allowing them to make an escape. But usually he was harmless aside from being incredibly annoying and frustrating "This better be good Kuno, I have plans" she huffed. She didn't want to waste Asami's time and she was starting to get hungry, having an empty belly was not helping in her mood. So he better make this quick so she could go and eat.

Kuno smiled brightly, it had to have been fate leading them into bumping into each other "I have a present for you pigtailed girl" he stated proudly. Perhaps with this gift she would better understand the depths of his emotions for her. He knew until now she had played hard to get and that fiend Hibiki had come between them, but now they were alone he could finally show his feelings for her. Hoping to improve their courtship so they could finally become one.

Ranko sighed, it was probably a bouquet, chocolates or some other luxurious gift, honestly, she couldn't care less. No matter how many times she rejected him or made it clear his feelings were one sided, he never listened to her. She swore his stupidity was beyond human levels, but she knew this jerk wouldn't leave her be until she saw what it was. She turned to face him suspiciously, wondering just what was so important, waiting for him to get this over with. Kuno beamed at her creepily, this guy had to have some form of mental problems. Just being around him made her skin crawl, wanting to take a shower and cleanse her mind of this memory. Avoiding him at all costs, though occasional meetings with him were unavoidable. He never seemed to understand social cues nor than women had no interest in him, there were girls at their school and even from other schools that found him attractive. Why did he obsess over herself and Akane if there were other women who would happily accept his feelings? It just didn't make any sense to her. He was holding something behind her back which piqued her interest, "So, lemme have it already" she sighed. She wouldn't say no to a freebie from a rich guy, knowing full well it would boost Kuno's ego and feed into his delusions. She would trash it as soon as she got home anyway, burning it and cursing his name.

Kuno smiled, bringing forward the present proudly, he had truly outdone himself this time on making her happy. How he was so smart he would never understand, that fool Hibiki couldn't possibly consider something like this. He knew girls enjoyed cute things, especially animals, fluffy companions. He had seen its bright eyes which made him think of her, how it would keep her company when she was alone. He could only imagine what she would call it, imagining her curled up with the creature on her lap.

Ranko's eyes filled with pure fear, time screeching to a halt and the sounds around her becoming distances and echoed as if she was underwater. Her ice turning to blood in her veins, her body turned rigid and her tears spiking her eyes, causing her vision to become blurred. Her hands gripping onto the handles of the bags like a vice, trying to find a support beam to control herself. Kuno held forward a hellish feline, a white fluffy monstrosity with gleaming blue eyes like ice, it looked like a demonic puffball. Just what in the hell had come over him considering such a thing as a present, how in the hell could this possibly make her happy? "K… Kuno…" she stammered shakily, forcing her words out. She tried to control her breathing, she tried to calm herself, but she couldn't stop shaking, she needed to get out of here now.

Kuno grinned, his intuition had been correct all along "You are speechless my love, I knew you would love it" he boasted. Of course he knew best of all what would make his love happy, how could he not? Learning all about his woman, her likes, dislikes and hobbies was his duty. To prove that he would always be the better man for her, not that fool Hibiki. He would remember this moment for eternity. Ranko swallowed, how was this guy so foolish? How could he not see how terrified she was from just looking at it? Her hands becoming clammy, her stomach twisting in knots and anxiety swallowing her up. She wanted out, she wanted to leave, she needed to run but she was frozen in place. He approached Ranko, pushing the furry beast closer towards her eagerly, Ranko feeling her body trembling.

"get that thing away from me now Baka!"

The cat stared her down with its demonic blue eyes, as if it was seeing into her soul, sensing her fear and mocking her. Its loud purr echoing through her gaze, filling the silence with its wicked voice. Reaching out to sniff her and lick her face affectionately, that was the last straw. "KYAAAAAAAA!" Ranko shrieked repulsively, jolting away from the creature defensively.

Ryoga felt a shiver run down his spine, a sickening feeling running through him, his mind whirring and clicking as all the pieces clicked together like a puzzle. He'd learned to listen to his instinct as it was a crucial part of his family schools teachings, he got this innate feeling that Ranko was in trouble. He'd had tests to study for and needed to improve his training schedule lately, aside from one day running this school he had a college education to consider before he was responsible enough to take over from his mother. Things had been so hectic lately, he needed time to make up for his negligence, training his mind and body, perfecting his abilities, while keeping up with his school studies as to not fall behind. But he'd needed a break, with everything finally done he could afford to breathe for a while and relax after being under so much stress. He'd asked Ranko if she needed help, but she assured him that she could cope with shopping at the market. He knew she was a headstrong girl with an innate talent for the arts, possibly soon to be the best of her age. But she was still weak to other dangers, she wasn't invincible and he worried she often forgot that. She was cooking with Asami for the night, improving her cooking skills, another of Ranko's talents was that she was a natural chef. Most likely a partial mix of brief lessons from her mother and learning to survive on the road. Asami had assured her that she needn't feel like learning cooking lessons if she didn't want to, she hated the old fashioned tradition in which women were expected to learn how to cook. One of his many admirations of his mother that while she respected and appreciated the old ways, she blended into the modern age especially when it came to traditions of marriage.

Ryoga's cooking teaching had been mandatory as the ways of their school lessons, if he was out in the wilderness with no shelter or food he needed to learn how to hunt and survive. If he was in danger, if chaos occurred, if he got lost somehow he needed to learn how to track to find civilization, he needed to learn how to forage etc. But more so, techniques in the mind and body that would be survival martial arts styles to defend yourself and offense your opponent. But Ranko needn't learn if she didn't want to, just because she was marrying into his family school didn't mean she had to force herself to be a dutiful housewife. He loved Ranko just the way he was and the idea of a being a househusband didn't sound all too bad to him. But Ranko insisted that she did enjoy cooking with Nodoka growing up, that she wanted to remake family recipes to share with Ryoga and her friends. If she hadn't gone alone, if he had just skipped for the night instead of remaining at home. If he had been stubborn for one moment and argued back about how he was worried. Then maybe she wouldn't have found herself in danger because of one careless action that could have been avoided. He grabbed his black shirt in which he removed for training, pulling it over his head as he dashed out of the training hall.

Ryoga slammed into the wall frantically, rushing to the kitchen in which he would find his mother "Mum, Ranko… something happened" he babbled frantically. He didn't know what occurred, he didn't know where she was, he didn't know what caused it, he just know she was in danger. They needed to find her before anything else happened, it was already late and walking around alone at night wasn't safe. He knew acting erratically wouldn't prove to be any help, but his mind kept forming scenarios of what could have happened from anxiety. The endless possibilities of what Ranko had faced. He knew he was easily angered, he knew he was easy to annoy and wind up, but he had a kind soul and caring heart, he just hated any harm coming to those he cared about.

Asami looked up solemnly "You felt it too then" she responded, she had felt something ominous in the air, a feeling in her stomach that told her danger was afoot. Ranko was late, though she often found herself in trouble due to her fiery nature and competitiveness, she was a sweet girl deep down. Something told her this was an intruding force that caused this to happen. Ryoga nodded, something in his instinct told him that something bad had happened, he knew his mother could help. Trying to find her alone could take hours, but together they could cover more ground. Her perceptiveness would give them ideas of places to look when he couldn't think of any. She lacked the directional dyslexia her husband had harboured, which he passed onto Ryoga. Asami hummed "I hadn't started on dinner yet, but if need be we can get takeout. We must find her, it's getting late" she responded. She didn't want to waste the ingredients, but she wouldn't allow them to starve, needs be when the devil drives after all. She was wearing a black turtleneck sleeveless jumper and a white flowy knee-length skirt, it would keep her warm for the night and it would be easy to search in, there was no time to waste changing clothes. "Grab a jacket, it's getting cold, I'll grab a torch so we can look for her" she reassured him.

"RANKOOO!" Ryoga called loudly, cupping his hands over his mouth as to better echo his calls, he needed to make sure she heard him. He had grabbed a thick wool-lined denim jacket for warmth, upon realizing how cold it was. In this weather Ranko could get sick, the mental image of her shivering somewhere caused his anxiety to heighten. He wished he could reverse this whole mess and just create a new timeline in which they went to the shop together. He wished she would jump out from somewhere as a prank and laugh at them like she normally would. He didn't like this gnawing feeling that something was off. Genma had many enemies after him who may use Ranko as payment, or even blame her for her fathers actions despite her innocence. He hated how complicated her life had become due to Genma's irresponsibility.

"Ranko honey, you need to come home" Asami called in concern, she hoped the poor girl heard their voice. So far she wasn't responding, had she possibly gone to Ukyo's house and stayed too long? Had the shop been closed causing her to attempt elsewhere as to not come home empty handed? She could sense Ryoga was becoming impatient, but she could understand why he was behaving this way. The girl he loved was possibly in danger.

Ryoga was trying to remain calm as to not worry his mother, but her perception would already notice his franticness. But he couldn't stop the anxiety whirling in his mind, intrusive thoughts of awful situations appearing in his mind. They just kept sprouting like weeded vines, entangling his mind and forming ideas. He couldn't think clearly, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't stop worrying about her. Blaming himself for being so stupid. Had she had a run-in with Kuno? Had she been attacked by thugs on the way home? He knew that letch was after her and wouldn't accept her rejection, hell, there were plenty of delinquents around that may have picked a fight or tried to kidnap her. Gripping his hands into balled fists as he tried to control his temper, he couldn't lose his temper now. He'd make a fool of himself in front of his mother and it wouldn't make this situation better. Suddenly, there was a clattering nearby making them both jump, snapping them from their train of thought. Asami raised her phone to switch the torch on her phone on, illuminating the area in light, prepared for any potential attacker attempting a surprise move. A small white fluffy cat escaped the ally with a look of fear in its eye, scattering about before running away into the darkness. The two stared in confusion before breathing a sigh of relief that it as merely an animal. However, this made matters even worse. Ryoga's eyes widened in panic, a memory running through his mind, taking him back to that night in the garden with Ranko. That night when Ranko revealed her phobia of cats, his suspicions had been correct, Ranko had an encounter with a cat. Though only a brief encounter left her panicked and anxious, what about a worse case scenario? "Ranko?!" he called again, running towards the rubbish bins frantically. There curled up in a ball hissing and yowling, her hair on end and her eyes wide with anger and fear was Ranko. Spitting angrily at whoever approached her, curling her hands into balled fists like a cat in the middle of a fight. She was far into Neko form and protecting herself, warning others to back off and leave her alone. But how had this happened? He saw some bags of food nearby, across the other side of the street, filled with the food they were supposed to use for dinner. Perhaps the cats smelled the food and approached, freaking Ranko out as she tried to lose them and ended up becoming like this.

Asami approached, illuminating another body with her torch, had Ranma been with a friend possibly? She would have called or notified them beforehand if so, something didn't make sense. Kuno lay in a straggled mess, covered in scratches and bites, on the floor in a state of shock. "Who?" she questioned in confusion.

Ryoga's eyes darkened with rage, now everything made sense. This had been the cause for his instinct to go off so abruptly, he had sensed that Ranko was being attacked. Of course, it was Kuno, who else could have been responsible in all of this. That jerk had gotten a cat somehow and scared Ranko, forcing her into her Neko form as a defence mechanism. He knew scaring her right now would force her to run away which was the last thing they needed, otherwise they would be on another wild goose chase. He needed to be patient with her, get her to turn back, but this wouldn't be easy, this wasn't normal Ranko. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, this wasn't about him anymore, this was about her. Ranko needed him, she was scared and alone right now, confusion running through her mind. He lowered himself to rest on one knee to support himself "Ranko…" he trailed off calmly, he needed her to understand that it was him. He wasn't going to hurt her, she was no longer in danger. He didn't know how this cat thing worked, he only knew about her Neko form due to what Genma had told his mother, which she relayed to him. He could only hope she recognized him, that this wouldn't end negatively. Ranko raised her head slowly, lowering her hisses to watch him cautiously, taking in the human approaching her, "It's me, we've come to take you home, it's safe now" he soothed.

Ranko's blue eyes lit up brightly with delight, the tension immediately easing from her body to form into one of comfort and happiness. Though that strange male had acted familiarly around her, she knew who this person was. Recognizing her mate, her strong yet sensitive mate who protected her, her equal. She leaped towards him happily with delighted chirps and yowls, like a madwoman. Ryoga swallowed, hoping she wouldn't scratch him too, he hadn't predicted how this would unfold and was acting purely on luck. He wouldn't blame Ranko for any of her actions, he was just glad she was safe. Ranko leaped at him instantly, pushing him down onto his back knocking him down and causing a yelp of surprise as the wind was punched from him. His head hitting the ground causing a low groan of discomfort to escape his lips as he hissed under his breath. Ranko perching atop his stomach in content, purring lightly and nuzzling against him, resting on his body the way a cat would.

Asami smiled warmly to herself, it seemed even in this form, Ranko recognized her fiancé "She appears to be happy to see you" she smiled. Though her way of expressing her affection in this form was unorthodox it still showed. Cats responded to gesture and body language rather than speech, ignoring human language. But Ranma being human, her memory imprint channeled through into her neko form. But Ryoga had been the one to calm her down and make her responsive, which was a good sign. It meant they could still connect with her on an emotional level.

Ryoga blushed, knowing his mother was teasing but she was happy "She's stronger than she looks…" he babbled. He hadn't expected her to knock him over like this, but he could laugh it off later. The main thing was Ranko was safe, he could breathe easier knowing they could take her home. They could worry about the rest to come later, though he did wonder how they would get her to move. She seemed rather content in using him as a human cushion for a while. Cats tended to be stubborn creatures, when they put their mind to something it was hard to distract them. He had a feeling he would be babysitting Ranko for a while, not that he minded much.

Asami held the bags of food in her hands "I assume she will follow you home, it's best we get her back safely and slowly figure out how to revert her to normal" she suggested. Cats were free spirited animals who chose their owners, the same way long ago Ranko had chosen Ryoga. Given her strong feelings for Ryoga, her cat form would express that. Meaning where he would go she would follow suit, allowing them to lead her in the direction of home where she would be safe. The main hurdle of their worries was now crossed and they could simply follow through with the aftermath. Though in the future when she reverted into her cat form, they would be able to handle the situation better.

Ryoga nodded awkwardly, it was hard to move with Ranko sat atop him. He averted his gaze towards Kuno hatefully "What about him?" he questioned. There was no way he was going to stop harassing Ranko because of this, he'd block it out or assume that she was simply moody. The fool was so idiotic that he never accepted anything no matter how many times it slapped him in the face. However, now that they had a chance to get revenge, it would be foolish to simply ignore it and allow him to continue, teaching him a lesson about who he was messing with.

Asami hummed, staring down at the unconscious teen suspiciously "Is this the boy who has been harassing you both?" she asked curiously. Though she had heard many a tale she had never met the boy before in person. Grabbing Ranko without her consent and forcing affection on her, following her around and trying to separate her from any other males. Speaking down to her disrespectfully and holding himself back due to her being a woman. He didn't sound like a pleasant young man and hoped she could do her part to make sure he didn't bother them anytime in the near future.

Ryoga nodded "Yeah, Kuno, the jerk who never seems to stop harassing her and treats me like an intruder" he growled. He acted as though he was some knight in shining armour who was supposed to protect Ranko's virtue as if she was a delicate flower. Acting as though he knew Ranko best of all despite being complete strangers, driving everyone else in her life away. Acting as though Ryoga was a villain who corrupted her and drove her from the positive path, neither of them could stand him. The day they graduated high school to attend the colleges of their chosen future, it would become a dream come true. They could live together as a couple and sort out their future together, learning and growing together.

Asami clicked her phone, grabbing her camera to take a picture of Kuno, she would be sure the police would know about his young man for the future. Providing evidence and a profile of the harasser in question, she had helped protect her son. She then knelt to acknowledge Ranko fondly, she had been through enough for the evening. Ranko raised her head curiously, acknowledging the older female, sniffing the air suspiciously. "I think its time we got home for dinner, you must be starving" Asami smiled fondly, her body would only be able to last so long without food.

Ranko sniffed the air, she knew this woman, she remembered her being the owner of the home in which she currently resided. She was the one who sent her out for food, the one who she was supposed to help provide with. This was the kind lady, Ryoga's mother, the matriarch of her family line and current head of the Hibiki dojo. She never treated her badly like Genma did, never treated her as a burden. She was understanding, sweet and patient, much like her mother Nodoka had been before their forced separation from each other. She never let Genma bully her, instead Genma feared her abilities, knowing she could outmatch him. She nuzzled against the woman affectionately, purring loudly "I think she likes you mum" Ryoga sighed in relief.

Ranko paced beside her mate protectively, walking down the street by his legs as she purred happily, her eyes peering around in the darkness watching out for attackers or rival females who may attempt to attack her mate. Her mate was strong and handsome, other females may find him attractive. She wanted to be sure they understood he was not theirs to claim. Ryoga blushed awkwardly while Ranko walked beside him, not used to her being so intimate with him. She was acting so predatory, stalking beside him as if danger lurked around ever corner. However, he knew she couldn't help this, she wouldn't act this way if she wasn't forcefully triggered into this state. Genma had caused this, he was the reason all of this was happening in the first place. Remembering how she had acted when he revealed his cursed form to her, she showed no fear, disgust, or mockery, she accepted him. She became protective over him and carried him wherever she went, but she never spoke down to him or mocked him. That night he saw her fear of cats he didn't judge her, the fear in her eyes, hyperventilating as if there was a monster from hell standing in front of her. And he didn't judge her for the way she acted now, yes it was a little strange about Ranko behaving like a cat that much he couldn't deny. But she was honest about her feelings, she showed the words she could never speak when she was herself. She was physically affectionate openly, enjoying being around him as much as possible. She was softer and gentler, lowering her guard showing her complete trust in him. She was protective and friendly, warding off danger and communicating with him albeit in the language of a feline. She was comfortable and welcoming towards him, her passions were increased and her desire for love was made stronger. All of the unspoken words she couldn't vocalize came to light, but he wondered how Neko ken Ranko would react around his cursed form. Hopefully she wouldn't mistake him for a kitten or a chew toy.

Asami smiled warmly, enjoying the sight of her son and future daughter in law bonding together. Though it would take some time getting used to Ranko's feline mannerisms, it wasn't something she couldn't handle. Ranko hadn't left Ryoga's side the entire time they had been walking home, she sniffed out danger and made sure they came to no harm. Her eyes changed to that of nocturnal vision, much like that of a normal cat. She would have to make sure Genma steered clear of Ranko for a while. "I do believe you'll have to feed her, I don't know if she will understand human tendencies in this form" Asami reflected. They were still learning about how to communicate with Ranko when she was like this, how they would take care of her. This was all very new to them and would take some time to cope with.

Ryoga blushed, he didn't know how long this lasted and he had never met anyone with a case like Ranko's before. If only there was someone they could ask for help on the matter. "Do you think she'll be stuck like this?" he asked in concern, he couldn't bear the idea of Ranko being stuck like this forever. She was supposed to be his future wife after all, he couldn't marry her when she was like this. Maybe with enough research they could find a cure to Ranko's strange phobia, even if they had to beat if out of Genma to do so.

"From what I gather it's a psychological response triggered by severe fear. She's been in fight or flight mode, so her mind still thinks she's in danger. But she recognizes us meaning it's an imprint. I assume that once she feels relaxed, she'll return to normal" Asami mused. She had been observing Ranko's behaviour for some time, allowing her to understand to an extent how it worked. Her mind was protecting itself after Ranko hit her personal limit. But within the haze of her feline mind, Ranko knew she was safe and she could trust them. Hopefully in time she would be able to become a normal girl again and heal from her traumatic transformation. Ryoga gazed at Ranko, though she was calmly walking beside him in a good mood, she was standing very close to him, guarding him. Her body language showed she was worried about him, that she wanted to protect him. She was making sure no other females or attackers harmed him, but given he only had eyes for her she didn't have to worry. She was protecting her mate the same way animals would, marking him, imprinting on him. She was trying to keep him safe, the same way he protected her against Kuno, her father and anyone else who sought to make her unhappy. Perhaps once they got home she would be able to calm down. He had to admit, seeing this side of her despite how traumatic it was for her, her feline tendencies were rather adorable. He gazed at Ranko who stared up at him patiently, her blue eyes gentle, he reached down to scratch her head fondly, a shy smile on his face.

Ranko perched atop Ryoga's lap in contentment, curled up and purring loudly as she realized she was home and safe. She wasn't in the cold night air, that strange dark haired male with the sword wasn't bothering her and that other cat wasn't attacking her. She could just be alone with her mate in their home, safe and warm. Ryoga sat by the table as his mother prepared dinner humming to herself, tempted to take a nap as he waited for dinner but he was too tired to move let alone care. Ranko hadn't moved since they returned home, sticking to his side by glue. He still had no idea of what occurred between Kuno and Ranko, but it had caused her to transform again. Had he perhaps attempted to prank Ranko with a cat? Or more likely the fool tried to gift Ranko with the cat unaware that it was her biggest phobia, the fool caused Ranko more problems than he realized, why couldn't he just leave her be. Luckily his mother got Kuno's photo and had all the evidence of stories he had told her, now she could inform the police and make sure Kuno kept his distance from her. He knew Kuno came from a prominent wealthy family, however that also meant could get money to cover his harassment and complaints against him. But Ryoga didn't care about any of that, even if it would help out their dojo, he just wanted no further intrusions in his and Ranko's life.

"Has she calmed down? She seems much more relaxed than she was earlier" Asami questioned, she could be sleeping or just observing. Her body language seemed calm but it was too soon to tell so far. If she needed personal space for the time being they would happily do so.

Ryoga nodded bashfully, he was still getting used to this "She's still in cat form, but she's in a happier mood" Ryoga explained awkwardly. He didn't know how long this was supposed to last, he'd never seen her like this before. But he could tell from her actions that she was healing, that she was slowly starting to trust them and realize she had no reason to be afraid. He could only listen to his gut on what felt right and when he was doing something wrong that may cause her distress.

Asami nodded "Give her time honey, she's had quite the fright, she'll be back to normal soon enough" she soothed. Her body needed to adjust, accepting that she was safe and no longer endangered. Her body was taking the time to heal on its own time, though she was sad she couldn't bond with Ranko in the way she hoped. The stew she had hoped to prepare with Ranko was nearly done, though she would have to make sure Ranko's food wasn't too hot. Being a cat form, her senses may have altered from normal. Suddenly they heard footsteps approaching the hallway, looming closer and closer with each passing second. Loud, heavy footsteps, most certainly a male. Ryoga flinched, had Kuno followed them home? Had he woken up and saw them escaping while he was still recovering. Was he going to cause more trouble for Ranko again? This guy never seemed to get the message. The sliding door slammed open to reveal Genma grinning widely, watching them like a crazed maniac.

Ryoga clicked his teeth irritably, forcing himself to remain calm and not lose his temper and scare Ranko's feline form. This lazy jerk had been sleeping all day and left them to take care of themselves. He hadn't even woken when he sensed that Ranko was in danger, his only daughter had been in harms way and he couldn't care less. Nor did he come to join them to help look for her. Now he woke up when he caught the scent of dinner like a fat leech, typical. "Konbanwa Asami, dinner smells delicious" he grinned. She had always been talented with her cooking, much like Nodoka.

Ranko raised her head curiously, smelling someone approaching her mate and mother, wondering who was intruding on her den. Her hair stood on edge wildly as she caught sight of Genma, arching her back and hissing angrily at the bespectacled badly. How dare he threaten her meal, her mate and her mother. This was the bully who stole her food, scared her, and made her feel shitty, the bully who threatened her and upset her mate and mother. This bully who had made her life a misery and caused the endless dangers in her life. Genma stiffened, edging backward as he saw Ranko yowling at him angrily, it had been a while since he had observed Ranko in this state. Ryoga placed his hand atop her head softly, petting her head to reassure her, soothing her that she was safe and Genma wouldn't approach closer. He didn't want her to get riled up unnecessarily. Ranko visibly softened but hissed angrily at Genma, warning him that he wasn't welcomed and she would attack him on sight.

"It seems poor Ranko was attacked by that boy during her journey home. Somehow she came into contact with a cat and transformed into this state. But for the time being, avoiding negative triggers would be best for her" Asami responded. Ranko had been lost and alone, confused and unable to cry out for help yet Genma remained apathetic as usual. He had simply strolled in none the wiser and panicked when he realised he was in trouble again. Genma blinked, what did this mean, what was she trying to say? This was his fault? Asami smiled wickedly at Genma "if you would be so kind as to find another establishment to spend the night, perhaps stay away from my home for some time" she warned. Genma had been the root cause of Ranko's transformation, being around him triggered a negative reaction.

Genma's mouth hung open, Asami was kicking him out? Where would he go? How would he live? How would he eat? Wasn't this an overreaction of sorts? "But… Asami… see sense…" he babbled. Surely she wouldn't be so cruel as to leave him homeless. He knew he had been problematic but he couldn't control matters that occurred beyond his knowledge.

"Ma told you to get lost you drunken jerk, now get out of my house" Ryoga growled, Genma had caused nothing but problems since he arrived in their home. Flirting with his mother despite still being married, lazing around and eating them out of house and home. He berated and belittled Ranko, blaming her for every single mishap. He selfishly thought for himself and never those around him. Genma huffed, he could sense the aura flowing from all three of them, the last thing he wanted was to get into a fight with any of them. While he was a skilled martial artist he knew he was no match for the three of them combined or alone, Ranko was starting to outmatch him. He sighed, turning his heels to grumble as he departed the house. Ryoga continued to pet Ranko, hoping to calm her down his glare not averting from the figure of Genma departing their home. This was the last time he would ever cross paths with Genma in their home, if he attempted to return it would be a death sentence for him. Knowing that Genma would only increase her rage while she was like this, her hatred for her father burning through her like a wildfire.

"I can see why Nodoka had the sense to kick him out, I'm glad we were able to contact her" Asami sighed. She had no understanding of why she ever married Genma, what words and lies he used to seduce her and solidify a marriage. She was a beautiful smart woman and she was beyond Genma's depth. She was an honourable woman with a kind heart, so why would she tolerate him for so long? Now that she was able to communicate with her she could update Nodoka on her daughters wellbeing and hopefully allow Ranko to either live with her mother, or Nodoka come live with them.

Ryoga flinched, staring at his mother eagerly "Did you find any links to Nodoka?" he asked hopefully. He knew during his time training and attending school his mother had been researching at home, attempting to find connections to Ranko's mother. Someone she hadn't seen in sixteen years, having been torn from her during her childhood. He could only imagine how overjoyed Ranko would become upon seeing her mother again, the only parent who truly cared about her. They would have so much to talk about while she was gone.

Asami smiled, though it had taken many weeks, hours and days to uncover, her work had paid off. "Indeed, Nodoka Saotome, aged 39, living in Hamamatsu of the Shizuoka prefecture" she explained. She was relieved to know she was living close, though the travelling time would be long, it was better than she expected. She was still separated fom Genma, making it easier for her to divorce Genma. Still waiting for her daughter to come home, to where she was safe and happy. If Nodoka lived with them, she would be able to see Ranko whenever she wanted.

Ryoga stiffened, no wonder Genma was so on edge, he knew the risk of possibly running into his wife and explaining himself "But… that's 3 hours away" he babbled. If she was so close, he would panic she would learn the truth and his past would catch up with him. He was denying Ranko the ability to see her mother because he was a coward. How would Nodoka react knowing all that Genma had subjected her to, including her Neko form. He had so much to answer to, which Nodoka would soon discover.

Asami nodded "Indeed, Genma made sure to hide somewhere that his wife wouldn't be able to find him and cut off all ties. Thus despite being able to visit whenever she wanted, she would never know". Genma was a sneaky individual and that hadn't changed since his teenage years. Able to get out of trouble using tactics and lies, outrunning his problems instead of facing them. Though amusing as a teenager, as an adult it was an act of cowardice and didn't make matters better, only worse. What was further disgraceful was that he was dragging Ranko into it all. Genma had been a troublemaker during his youth along with his fellow trainee Soun Tendou. Their master from what she knew was a disgraceful man and someone she had steered clear of. He was beyond father material, in fact he was the furthest thing from it, but somehow he managed to concieve Ranko and made her life a misery.

"That bastard" Ryoga growled, he hoped Nodoka was a better in law than Genma had proven himself to be. Someone he would be proud to call mother, someone he would happily accept as family someday. He could only wish, after all he knew nothing about Ranko's mother and Genma surely wouldn't tell them anything. They were running around in the dark looking for clues they so desperately sought after. He knew Genma had a lot of secrets, knowing the man hid things from them to protect himself, he hoped that himself and Ranko never found themselves involved.

"Now we can help Ranko reconnect with her mother and hopefully have a happier home life. But we need to take care of some restraining orders first" Asami pondered. They had the pieces in place, allowing their plan to unfold which they could share with Ranko soon enough, but it would take time. After further communication and explanation, they could finally help Ranka see her mother again after years of being apart. But they could worry about that soon enough. They knew it would be emotional and a large step for her, but things would work themselves out.

Ryoga spooned a mouthful of stew into his mouth eagerly, his stomach gurgling loudly with hunger, tonight had worked up at appetite and he'd nearly forgotten about it. His mothers cooking was so soothing and warm, easing his worries, rich, tasty, and warm, making him feel whole and content. He'd been running on autopilot and adrenaline, but now that he had come down and was in a calmer state of mind, his hunger becoming evident, adding to his bad mood. Bit filling his belly allowed him to see clearly and rationally again. His mother had truly learned the secret to comfort food, allowing him to feel content, happy and fulfilled. Ranko sniffed the air, the delicious smelling food filling her senses, she didn't know what it was but it smelled wonderful. She had been around food before she had sensed that rival cat approaching her. But she was hungry, her stomach was empty, whatever her mate was consuming smelled pleasant and she wanted a taste. She raised her head to sniff Ryoga's spoon curiously, hoping to catch a glimpse of what he was eating. "Seems she's hungry" Asami smiled, he knew Ranko had hoped to return home to help with dinner, her anxiety would have drained her of what energy she had. In her primal state she was following her instincts, her body sought sustenance, and her cooking was delicious. She would understand why Ranko would want a taste, she was simply listening to her body.

Ryoga hummed, lowering his spoon to allow Ranko to sniff at it tentatively, hoping it wasn't too hot for her, not wanting Ranko to burn her tongue. Were her senses still human or had they become feline during her conversation? He didn't know how this Neko-ken thing worked but he needed to understand. She licked at the food, her eyes brightening wide with delight at the taste, taking the large mouthful of food into her jaws, chewing happily. He was relieved to know she still had an appetite and human food was still something she could consume right now, instead of being drawn to things like fish "She approves of your cooking ma" he grinned.

Asami got to her feet calmly, "I'll get a second helping, good thing I made plenty" she chuckled, she approached the cooker to get a bowl to place beside Ranko. She was glad the girl still had her appetite, she needed to regain her strength. She wondered if they could coax her into taking a bath too, kneeling beside the girl to place the food nearby so she could enjoy her dinner. Knowing cats didn't enjoy being disturbed as they were eating, Ranko sniffed the bowl before crawling from Ryoga's lap to investigate the food. Sniffing curiously before eating the warm stew, chirping happily, the tastes that coated her senses making her grin. Her mouth covered in the stew as she gobbled down the food hungrily. Human mannerisms and behaviours all but lost to her while she was in this form. Ryoga hummed, Ranko must have been hungry, wondering when the last time she ate was, after all before she transformed she was on the way back from the shop. But if it helped her feel comfortable, so be it, right now he didn't know any better. It had been a long night for them both, something they would remember for a while.

Kuno slowly raised his head, wondering why he was laying in the middle of the street, his memory of what transpired was fuzzy and broken. The small fluffy cat he had bought for his beloved pigtailed girl was gone, all of his hard work and effort had fallen apart. He remembered bumping into her while she was walking home with shopping, unware and surprised to see him, most likely glad to see him. Surprising his beloved was something only a gentleman would do, waiting to see the reaction of his love. She had been so surprised upon seeing the cat she was lost for words, the best reaction he could hope for, waiting for her to find her words. But when she tried to pet it she became so excited she began screaming, her excitement being vocalized for the world to hear. Wanting to share with everyone about how kind he was, how thoughtful he was to give her such a present. But then she became quiet and began mimicking the cat before she attacked him, lunging at him aggressively out of nowhere.

Wondering what had occurred, placing together the broken pieces of his memory to understand what happened after he passed out. His eyes then widened in surprise, realisation hitting him like a tonne of bricks, perhaps she had been jealous of the cat. Believing that he would love the cat more than her, that he was replacing her in his affections. "My pigtailed goddess is upset with me, why would she believe I would replace her with a mere feline?" he babbled in confusion. He needed to find his goddess and apologize to her, proclaim how much she meant to him. Suddenly, he saw a middle-aged bald man sulking down the street, his head bowed gloomily with his arms folded sulkily, perhaps he could ask for help. "Excuse me, sir, would you be so kind as to explain where I may find a Ranko Saotome?" he asked curiously.

Ryoga paced down the hallway to the bath, after today he could use a long soak in the tub, the mental space to just reflect and wonder where things would go from here. Wiping the sweat of training off and being able to relax for the rest of the evening, it was hard to think when you felt gross. Genma could cause them no more trouble, his mother was currently on the phone to the police about the restraining order against Kuno, meaning there were already two loads of trouble unloaded from burdening them in the future. Their bellies were full and they could take the rest of the evening off. Ranko followed patiently, watching her mate leave the meal area towards another place, wondering where he was running away to hide. He wasn't angry with her, and he wasn't trying to avoid her, she sensed no negative emotions flowing from him. He had something to do, so she would keep an eye on him and accompany him, she didn't want him to become endangered while she couldn't protect him.

Ryoga blushed, he knew Ranko would follow him wherever he went, as a cat, she had no understanding of embarrassment, nudity, and other awkward matters. She was in a primal feline state where she was pure animal instinct, not human. She didn't see what she was doing was wrong, she wanted to protect him. Animals communicated in a different way than humans did. "Crap, I can't get mad or she will assume something is wrong. She doesn't mean to act this way" he reflected. "Hey mum, can you take care of Ranko?" he called, his mother would be able to keep an eye on her in his absence and reassure her that she was safe. He could have some privacy and return to her while she was none the wiser.

Asami hummed, realizing Ranko was following Ryoga around in a lovesick mood, however, she doubted her son would appreciate his crush following him to the bath while she was in cat mode. Ryoga had been training all day, causing him to become sweaty, but before he could cleanse his body, they had been sent on a wild goose chase to locate Ranko. He would appreciate being able to remove the filth from his body before he went to bed. "Psss, psss, psss, here kitty" she called calmly, beckoning Ranko to her. Ranko turned her head, responding to the calls and sauntering towards Asami with a bright smile.

Ryoga rested his head at the back at the tub reflectively, steam rising in the air, his cheeks flushed from the heat of the bath, running his hands through his fringe, brushing it from his face. Staring at the cieling and the few bubbles that floated in the air caused by the bath, it felt nice to relax, let his hair down and feel relieved. Knowing everything had worked itself out in the end. Ranko was home safely, she was unharmed, though she was trapped in her cat form, she wasn't injured, it seemed her martial arts skills improved in this state. Kuno hadn't hurt her, though he had further traumatized her damaging her already fragile psyche. The moron went and bought her a present, that being the animal she couldn't stand. At least the guy wouldn't be able to approach her anymore, giving her some peace of mind. Poor Ranko had been given a nasty shock on her way home triggering a response that caused her to transform. He didn't know how long this would last but Ranko wouldn't be turning back into herself anytime soon, nor would she be attending school. She couldn't attend classes when she was behaving like a cat, it would lead to rumours and teasing from classmates. All he could do was reassure her, comfort her and wait till this blew over.

Ryoga paced out of the bathroom with a heavy sigh, his hair still somewhat damp from the bath, but he felt calmer, reasonable. Having pulled back on his clean black shirt and jeans from earlier, His belly still full of his mother's stew, leaving him in a pleasant mood. Ready to check on his loved ones and see what they were up to while he was absent. "Hey ma, is Ranko doing ok?" he called casually, he approached the living room to see Ranko sat atop his mothers lap purring softly. Curled up in a ball as his mother rubbed her back and stroked her hair soothingly, Ryoga felt his heart being squeezed from the pure sweetness happening before him. He wanted to imprint this memory into his brain to remember for the rest of his life. Ranko had no doubt been neglected of such affection her whole life after Genma separated her from Nodoka. In her feline form this affection she craved her whole life was finally being given to her, the emotional security she longed for. His mother comforting her out of her fear and allowing her to return to normal.

Asami turned to Ryoga, he looked much more relaxed now that he had bathed, she knew it would do him some good and leave him in a pleasant mood. Ranko was very calm and would soon fall asleep, meaning they may have to carry her upstairs somehow. But if she returned to human the next day he wouldn't know, but they would figure that out soon enough. "She's been very calm, I think she's coming back to normal" she smiled, she could sense Ranko's mind was healing itself and bringing her out of her protected seal and back to normality. Ryoga sighed in relief and approached, sitting on the porch beside his mother with Ranko sat on her lap. She looked so peacefully content, happy, innocent. The moon was large and silver, beaming down on them with a haunting light, as if it was protecting them. Despite all the chaos that had occurred, it was a relief to have Ranko back home.

Kuno wandered around the grounds curiously, Hibiki certainly had a lovely home for such an aggressive cur. There was much he didn't know about his rival that he intended to uncover in order to understand what kind of man he was. How could a lowly man have such a well cared for home? Surely he was a pitiful commoner with no ability to provide for his beloved pigtailed girl. Was he secretly a rich lord like himself? From unknown wealth? He would confront the fool on his relationship to Ranka and why she was residing at his home. A young woman such as herself couldn't reside in the same home as a male that wasn't her father, it wasn't proper. She had to be forced into the marriage with Hibiki, how could she possibly want to marry him? That old man had been rather useful with directions, though he wondered what his relation to Ranko was, he hadn't had time to ask but it was something he could reflect on later. He then raised his head to see a lovely woman, one he was not familiar with but felt blessed to be in her presence all the same. Older than his beloved Ranko or Akane Tendou, she had blossomed long ago and had become a beautiful flower to behold. She was an older woman but still as lovely, short wavyish black hair styled into a bob with luminous blue eyes. Was this woman a maid? Did Hibiki hire lovely women to act as his servants? The shame. He raised his sword storming forwards angrily, he wouldn't accept these newfound facts. "Ryoga Hibiki you cur, you enslave my beloved pigtailed girl and now you force this woman to accompany you in your slums?" Kuno growled.

Ryoga raised his head suspiciously, glaring when he saw Kuno in his garden, could this night get any worse? Just when he believed that they were in the clear and they could breathe easier. How had this jerk found his home? Hell, this was the only form of privacy they had until now, this wasn't fair. Genma must have run into him after being kicked out, the moron, running his big mouth. "You know you're trespassing? Get out of my house you jackass!" Hibiki snapped angrily, he had no right to be here, he wasn't welcome and he never was. Ranko raised her head curiously, sensing her mate was angry all of a sudden, his calm aura had become warped with spontaneous rage. Something had saddened him greatly, but what could have caused him distress. She wanted to soothe him, ease his worries to make him feel relaxed again.

Asami continued to pet Ranko, just as the girl had begun to calm this fool had riled her up again. She knew Ranko was a deeply fragile young woman warped by the actions of Genma causing her to become conflicted and lonely. This intruders presence had frightened her, Now he insulted her son and daughter in law. She wouldn't accept this, he needed to be taught a lesson. Kuno spotted Ranko on Asami's lap, a look of confusion on her face, she wasn't acting normally and he didn't understand why. His usual shy and awkward pigtailed girl was passive and quiet. "Why is my pigtailed girl so confused? What have you done to her Hibiki?" he demanded.

Ryoga growled, he needed to learn to mind his own business and realize he was an outsider in her life. The Ranko he knew was a delusion based on fantasies he saw about her. This creep had been harassing Ranko for months, unwanted attention and gestures that she constantly rejected, a pure stalker who was up his own ass. Nobody in the school liked him, he was so weird that people just coped with him. He had finally caused Ranko to snap by gifting her with a cat and sending her to a personal hell. "I've been protecting her, watching over her and looking out for her. I've been protecting her from your perverted psycho antics because I'm her fiancé!" he snapped. Kuno huffed, this man insulted him and confronted him, he would not allow this to pass.

Asami slowly got to her feet, stroking Ranko's head before the redhead approached Ryoga, sitting nearby him protectively and rubbing against him. She had heard enough and she was displeased at this young man entering her home and causing a scene like this. She coped long enough with Genma's antics, and now this. She patted down her skirt and stood protectively in front of her son, blocking him from Kuno's gaze. Her blue eyes gleamed coldly in the darkness, a blue aura of rage forming around her, her gaze becoming steely and ominous. The night wind gently blowing her waved bob, her skirt gently swaying in the breeze "You are Tatewaki Kuno, my son and daughter-in-law's classmate correct?" Asami asked sternly.

Kuno blinked, this woman's aura had raised to a frightening level, flowing from her like smoke and her strength seemed to increase. He had never met a woman like this before in his life, not even Akane Tendou had this kind of power. Her aura was on par with Hibiki, was this the person who trained him? How had he gained such strength from this woman? "My lady, who be you to confront me?" he asked curiously, hoping to understand her better before they fought.

"I am Asami Hibiki, the matriarch of the Hibiki family and the Hibiki school of survival martial arts" she responded sharply, she had taken over the school upon her husbands death and had married into the family then birthed Ryoga her only son and heir. She had learned all she could of the Hibiki martial arts from a young age, during her teens when she married her husband, become a natural, stronger than even her husband. Kuno stared in awe, this woman was Hibiki's mother? This goddess raised that fiend? How could this possibly be? He saw no likeness between either of them. "You have been harassing my daughter in law and beloved son for months, despite me carefully arranging their marriage on account of their intimate relationship with one another. Now you traumatize my said daughter in law and attack me in my own home" she warned. Kuno swallowed, this woman had engaged the marriage between Ranko and Hibiki? She had knowingly set them up even though his beloved goddess would be better suited with a man like himself? Why would she come between himself and his love? Why would she commit such a cruel act? "Ryoga, go call the police and let them know our stalker has been hounding us. They will no doubt have questions for him" she responded sternly. She didn't want to waste any more time. Ryoga nodded, getting to his feet to go and call the police about Kuno harassing them, he knew his mother planned on distracting Kuno until the police arrived. Everything he knew about martial arts he had learned from his mother, the best teacher he could have. He was yet to surpass her but someday he would, but he still respected her immensely.

Kuno blinked, before scoffing accusingly "You would call the police on me? Tatewaki Kuno?" he asked, he was committing no crime aside from visiting his love and making sure she was unharmed. Why was he being treated as the villain because he simply cared so much about Ranko Saotome?

"I call the police on the boy harassing my teenage daughter in law, bullying my son and making unwanted advances on said daughter in law and her best friend. Who then attacked me in my own home via trespassing" she reminded him. He was so dense and spoiled he failed to see how his actions were perceived by those less deluded than himself. He was entitled and drunk on power, his parenting skills had indeed been poor for him to turn out this way. Kuno panicked, this woman was strong, she showed no fear and she confronted his words, something about her scared him, impressed him. But coming between himself and Ranko made her his enemy regardless. He wouldn't hold back on this woman for acting as his enemy, though he would respect her in battle. Asami began to step forward, this boy was all talk but ultimately he was a coward beneath it all. He used underhanded methods much like Genma to get what he wanted, he fabricated lies to defend his actions and showed no guilt for the chaos he caused. Poor Ranko attracted so much negativity in her life, no wonder she was so stressed. Kuno gripped his sword, he would attack her if need be, he was no weakling, he would rescue his love from this place. He raised his sword to hit, Asami dodged, gripping the sword in her hand, blocking his blow. His actions were too predictable, he acted swiftly but aimed first, leaving his vulnerable areas wide open as he became too cocky. She then gripped her other hand to slam the wooden blade into his chest winding him, it would bruise but he would live. The gesture so strong due to her impact, causing Kuno to fall to his knees choking for breath.

"You leave yourself too open, you are too cocky and use cowardly methods. You will stay away from my home, you will never bother my son or daughter in law again. And I promise you, upon my restraining order being placed, you can bid goodbye to college and hello to prison" she warned. She knew he was not the type to back down respectfully, he was too prideful, too obnoxious. She knew this wasn't the last time she would see him but he would learn of her strength as a warning. He would have time to think this over in prison, of how he made a mistake. She had gone easy on him this time, but next time she wouldn't. Turning on her heels to spot Ranko watching her from the porch with wide eyes of admiration. She no longer had a reason to worry, she had taken care of the hindrance "Ranko honey, don't worry, I'm unharmed, I was just getting rid of another pest" she called reassuringly.

"You were so cool, mum! You kicked his ass" Ryoga cheered proudly, he wished he could have seen the fight unfold, though his mother rarely trained due to being a full time parent. Her skills hadn't diminished and she still occasionally trained, focusing her mind and body into all she did. He was proud to have his mother as a teacher and he hoped she would help train Ranko too in the future. He would never stop boasting about how much he idolized and loved his mother, even if people teased him.

Asami scoffed, but she appreciated her sons praise. "I can see why you would find him annoying, though he wishes to improve his skill via opponents. He is a sore loser who needs to better defend himself, he leaves himself wide open" she hummed. He refused to admit defeat and blamed others for cheating, when his skills needed improving. She then stretched after locking the sliding doors and making sure her home was secure for the evening. That boy wouldn't be getting into their home anytime soon, upon the police arriving he would be spending the night in jail. They would sleep easy and he wouldn't be bothering them again tonight. Ranma chirped happily, rubbing herself against Asami and Ryoga happily, they had protected her from that annoying male and protected her from harm. Her older female had shown frightening strength and defeated him easily, she respected her as an elder. "I assume Ranko will be sleeping with you, though I don't mind sharing my room for the night," Asami asked thoughtfully. Ranko feeling safe and secure was crucial, who she felt most comfortable with was her own choice and they couldn't change that.

Ryoga blushed, he knew his mother meant well but he didn't see Ranko leaving his side for the night. He would feel at ease knowing Ranko was safe, though he knew cats were noctunal. "Nah, I don't mind sharing, she's harmless" he muttered, just hoping she didn't get up to any pranks. To cats anything could become a form of amusement, causing a mess to him. But it wasn't anything he couldn't handle, no matter the bother.

Asami smiled, ruffling his head fondly "Such a sweet boy, just like your papa" she praised, he had such a kind and understanding heart. He would become a wonderful husband to Ranko and future heir to the Dojo. He had been calm and collected all night, making sure not to allow his fears and doubts to act recklessly. She admired that in her son and knew her parenting skills had paid off, proud of the young man he was becoming.

Ryoga stretched, changing into blue pyjamas with small yellow sunflowers, they were gifted to him by his mother. The simplicity of it made him smile and made him feel happy when he was down, bright, golden and friendly, as though they were dancing in a blue sky. He was more than ready for sleep as today had been immensely stressful, he knew once he hit the pillow he would be out like a light. Ranko padded around the room curiously, sniffing, taking in her new surroundings and nest for the night. This room was small, but warm and cozy, warmth radiating the room shielding her from the cold and weather. Her mate's scent lingered on everything here, was this his den? He had taken her back to his den to allow her to feel safe? She wandered around the room curiously, taking it all in. Ryoga hummed, Ranko couldn't sleep in her clothes and he couldn't turn her away. She'd been out in the cold and filth so surely they would be dirty, they could be washed in the morning. They had some spare she could borrow, at least until hers were clean again. He sighed, this would be embarrassing but he would cope, after all his intentions were pure. "Pss, pss... Ranko, c'mere" he beckoned bashfully, using the same technique his mother had.

Ranko perked up approaching her mate eagerly, awaiting his affection eagerly. Ryoga sighed as Ranko jumped onto his bed, pawing at the sheets eagerly, much like a kitten would its mother. He slowly approached, removing her clothes to reveal her soft curves and form, causing his heart to flutter. Averting his gaze as he pulled his shirt over her, covering her body. Folding her clothes neatly to form on his desk for the morning, where she would be able to locate them. Ranko sat in confusion, sniffing his oversized shirt which looked painfully cute on her, thinking she should wear his clothes more often. It was an intimate form of trust in a relationship, in a way he was marking Ranko as his mate in return. Ruffling her head fondly when he was done "There, that's better, don't want your clothes to become wrinkled" he joked. He climbed into bed awkwardly, making sure not to push Ranko off as he tucked himself in for the night, knowing she wouldn't appreciate the gesture. Hoping she would be back to normal in the morning, the same Ranko he loved.

The morning sun beamed through the windows, illuminating the room with daylight, the curtains cutting out the beams that beamed through. A new day had arrived in Nerima and brought closure to the previous nights antics, putting it behind them as a past problem. Ryoga lay peacefully on his back, snoring softly as exhaustion and stress had knocked him out, exhausting his mind and body causing him to fall into a deep slumber, allowing his body to recover. Ranko's eyes fluttered open weakly, the room bright with the morning light, her mind piecing together the fragments of what her vision could barely adapt to. Her mind hazy and confused, feeling as though she had woken up from a dream of sorts, as though she had been somewhere far away, an out of body experience. She remembered facing Kuno in that alley, bringing home ingredients for dinner and then Kuno harassing her in that alley. She had been ready to knock his front teeth in and make her escape, then he showed her that damn cat and everything went black.

How had she gotten home? What had happened? She didn't remember anything, she had no visible wounds, she felt no sense of pain, her stomach was filled with food and she felt relaxed. So she could chalk up that she hadn't been in a fight and she hadn't bene injured, which was a relief. She had slept in a warm bed which was safe, meaning she wasn't endangered or out on the street. She looked around curiously, she was in an unknown room, wearing strange clothes, they were clean she knew that much and the owner of the room wasn't around. She didn't remember anything, her brain tended to black out any conscious memory while she was in Neko form. She peered around her to find Ryoga snoring softly nearby, making her feel safe and warm inside, being so close to him and feeling as though this was a dream come true. Upon closer inspection, he wasn't wearing a shirt, causing her to panic at the small information she could gather. She blushed upon noticing his formed abs from his martial arts training, something that was often hidden underneath his many layers of clothing, though she didn't see if often, she admitted her fiancé had a nice body. But had they, did they?

"Oh god, what did I do. I know I blackout when I transform but surely I didn't, we never, Ryoga wouldn't…."

Ryoga stirred, turning over in bed and yawning softly, rousing from his peaceful slumber contentedly. His brown eyes opening wearily to spot Ranko sat up in bed looking worried, the look of fear and anxiety in her eyes caused a protectiveness to arise in him. He sat up abruptly, autopilot running after what happened last night, gripping her shoulders softly to reassure her "Ranko, are you ok? Are you hurt? Are you…" he babbled. He knew her mind would be a little foggy after last night, she wouldn't remember anything after her transformation, given how her mother described it. But he could help fill in the blanks of what he could remember for her. Ranko blinked, expecting him to be nude but saw he was wearing matching bottoms to the shirt she was wearing, much to her relief. For an embarrassing moment she had believed he was completely nude, but given it was his bedroom, it was expected. Ryoga sighed, knowing he would just confuse her, knowing it was best not to increase her anxiety any further "What do you remember?" he questioned.

Ranko shifted awkwardly, attempting to muster her memory, the fragmented pieces of her mind slowly forming into place. Everything was mostly a blur, she hated the amnesia that came with her cat phobia, but her mind just couldn't handle whatever followed after. "Um… I had ingredients for dinner, I was on the way home. Then that jerk Kuno appeared and then…. I blacked out…" she babbled. Asami was supposed to be teaching her a recipe which Ranko had been eagerly awaiting, but before she could get home Kuno harassed her and before she could punch him in his stupid face. He showed her that damn cat, freaking her out.

Ryoga sighed, so her transformation came with memory loss, but given the amount of stress her brain was under, it could no longer cope and just shut down. His mother seemed to understand Ranko's condition more than she did. "It seems jerkface Kuno wanted to gift you with a cat despite your phobia. You must have gotten so scared you turned kitty on us. We found you in an alley hissing with a messed up looking Kuno. We got you home safe and took care of you" he explained. Ranko had been through so much over the years it was only a matter of time before her body found ways to adapt to her suffering. But unfortunately, Ranko developing temporary amnesia while in that state was one of the downsides. Ranko shivered, god Kuno was such a fool, she would punch him in his stupid face for this. God she hated the thought of ever seeing his ugly mug ever again. But she was so relieved that they found her, before something terrible happened. "Ma spent the evening calming you down, which we took turns, seems your old man told him where you were staying so Kuno paid us a visit" he grumbled. He really wished he could have seen his mother against Kuno, he only saw the aftermath of her damage.

Ranko panicked, Kuno had followed her home? That creep! Didn't he have any hobbies outside of harassing her? Why couldn't he just move on and understand she hated him? "Are you ok? Is your mum ok? He didn't cause damages did he?" she pestered, she knew Asami tolerated enough from her father. But now Kuno too? This was just too much to cope with.

Ryoga blinked then burst out laughing "Nah, Kuno thought I was forcing you to act like a cat or something, called me names and stuff. But my mum got the gist of it from our explanations, I called the police so he spent the night in prison. But not before my mum kicked his ass" he grinned. Kuno was so oblivious to Ranko that he formed delusional fantasies in his mind to better understand because the truth was too much to handle. He averted the blame of being responsible for any trouble he caused. He insulted Ryoga and believed he could get away with it, but he underestimated his mother like a fool. There was a reason Genma feared her.

"Wait? Asami beat up Kuno? God, I wish I'd seen that!" Ranko laughed, the image of Kuno being rendered helpless by Ryoga's mother of all people sounded hilarious. Even Genma was afraid of Asami and apparently for good reason. She'd never seen Asami fight but she knew she was more powerful than Genma and trained her son. Given how strong Ryoga was, she could only imagine the power that Asami retained. One day she would see Asami fight in person, but she would forever regret the first opportunity she had to witness such a thing.

Ryoga laughed but softened "I'm glad your back to normal, I'm sorry Kuno did that to you, made you change and all" he admitted shyly. He hated that Ranko suffered from this phobia, but this time he hadn't been able to protect her. She was his fiance, his future wife and his partner, yet he had only followed his instinct but had been too late to prevent her transformation. As cute as Neko Ranko was, she couldn't stay like that forever, she didn't have to transform to feel safe.

Ranko remembered she had seen a cat in his garden and freaked, but this was the first time she blacked out and turned kitty on him, wondering how that must have felt to an outsider. Seeing her behave so strangely and have so understanding as to why it was happening, but he had taken care of her, as had Asami. "Thanks for… understanding, I hope… I didn't do anything weird…." she muttered. Her feline mind and her normal mind were very different things, so it caused a split personality in a sense.

Ryoga smiled playfully, he would never stop teasing her for this "You were awfully friendly, you sat on my mum's lap. When we found you, you ran up to me and jumped into my arms knocking me over. You spent the whole night watching over us, following us around, sitting on our laps. It was… kinda cute…" he admitted. Part of him wished Ranko would act like that all the time, cat form or not. Not acting girly or whatever, but more physical affection would be nice. A cuddly lovey, dovey Ranko sounded like a dream come true. He knew it was rather embarrassing for Ranko to express, but showing it outside of Neko form would be fun too. I mean she was in a sense his girlfriend now and future wife, was wanting some kisses or hugs every now and again a bad thing?

Ranko blushed, but she was relieved she did nothing strange, she would never be able to live that down. She was never in control when she turned kitty, she lost control of her mind and senses. But to know that Ryoga hadn't minded how she acted was soothing, I mean she had seen him in pig form and hadn't minded. He was her cute little companion and she was just some blacked out kitty maniac. "Guess this makes us even, I've seen you in piggy form and you saw me all cat crazy" she joked, laughing about it did make the matter easier to deal with.

"The piglet and the catgirl" Ryoga chuckled, it sounded like a strange fantasy story between the two of them. Having a nickname was the first step of becoming a couple, or so their classmates bragged. They had always just followed their relationship on their own terms, slowly developing their comfort zones. "Y'know from what I could understand, your cat form seems to amplify your repressed feelings, allowing you to express them more openly" he reflected. The emotions and feelings she hid from others came out openly in her neko form, be it negative or positive. Ranko blushed, so her Neko form was more expressive than her normal self, she didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"I say, may I ask why am I trapped in this cell?" Kuno asked curiously, he had woken from his battle against the beautiful Mrs Hibiki, only to find himself in this cell. He didn't understand why he was here nor what he had done wrong to deserve this punishment. There had to be some form of mistake, for he didn't belong here whatsoever. But he could hopefully speak with this reasonable policeman and be released.

A nearby policeman hummed, was this boy some form of moron? Did he have amnesia or something? Because he'd caused a list of problems for someone so young, what would his parents think if they knew? "A local mother expressed concern at you showing up at her house uninvited and threatening her son, atop multiple harassment cases at your school caused by you. In which she placed a restraining order preventing you from bothering her son and daughter in law". Surely he was a smart guy, yes being rejected by your crush sucked but there were plenty of fish in the sea. But harassing a girl to accept your feelings wasn't acceptable and he needed to move on. No wonder the poor woman had placed protection against her family, she had good reason to.

Kuno scoffed, there had to be some form of mistake "I was merely teaching that fiend Hibiki a lesson for tainting my beloved Pigtailed girl with his presence". The school had agreed that if they wished to pursue Miss Akane Tendou or Ranko Saotome for their affections, they needed to defeat them in combat. Despite his failures, he wouldn't give up. He would one day beat his loves in battle and someday become their paramour.

"Ah yes, Miss Ranko Saotome, said fiancé of Miss Hibiki's son, it seems the arrangement was consensual" the officer explained. They seemed like a cute couple and they cared about one another. They had known each other since they were children which was usually how romances started, but Miss Hibiki was taking things slow and letting them build their relationship on their own terms. But he was glad to see them marrying for love, rather than the old fashioned forced marriage stuff.

Kuno growled, why couldn't these fools see sense? "I cannot accept my beloved goddess would accept such a lowlife as a husband" he snapped. She deserved a better man than that brute Hibiki, he couldn't make her happy. Surely he had to be bullying her or belittling her into obedience, rather than treating her as she deserved. Something about Hibiki didn't feel right to him.

"Seems he's taking rejection hard, he's in denial" the officer muttered, he'd get over it but for now he was in the second stage, denial. Seemed it would take him some time to get over his crush.

"He's young, you get used to it" a fellow officer responded, heartbreak was expected at that age.

Ranko sat at the breakfast table adorning a simple white T-shirt, black jeans, sipping a cup of tea, feeling herself come back to reality and ease into her life again. It had been a long night and she was starving, her stomach a never-ending bottomless pit. She didn't have to fight over her meal with Genma and she could spend her time as she pleased. She wasn't looking forward to returning to school after everything, but seeing her friends again would help comfort her after what happened. Being surrounded by the people you were closest to was often healing in that sense. Ryoga sat nearby wearing the same jeans and a black T-shirt from the night before, glad to see Ranko smiling and getting her appetite back. She looked so natural, in her element, like a normal girl again. Without Genma on her case or leeching off her, she was able to live her own life and just be a teenage girl for once. He couldn't help but smile as he felt happy for her.

Asami watched the two with a relieved smile as she enjoyed her meal, knowing that things had worked themselves out like she expected them to. Ranko looked well-rested and was back to her normal self again, after all she had been through her body would be exhausted. She hoped that she could help Ranko with her Neko form in the future and hopefully deter another transformation when possible. While she was living here a therapist to help her recover from her trauma of cats would be healthy, so she could function normally around them.

"Arigato, you both must have been stressed last night, dealing with my cat self. I know it's still recent since I revealed my…. Cat phobia…" Ranko stammered awkwardly. She was still grateful to Asami for confronting Genma on his shitty parenting and forcing Ranko to endure that. She had managed to get him out of her life for the time being too. She'd done so much for her in the short time she had been living with them, she could even begin to express her gratitude. They had been so patient with her and didn't mock or tease her about it like Genma did.

Asami smiled "Ranko dear, you needn't apologize, that Kuno boy harassed you and triggered your phobia, myself and Ryoga were simply worried that you were harmed" she reassured her. Her phobia was not something she could control, it was caused by severe childhood trauma caused by Genma. She had tried her whole life to avoid them as to not trigger her phobia nor her transformation. Now that they knew about it, they would support her and hopefully help her find a cure to its severe effects. Ranko was part of their family now and they would look out for her safety. Ranko softened and blushed shyly, continuing her meal, she felt so lucky to have found such caring people to look out for her. But she still questioned how someone like Asami had been friends with her lazy good for nothing father as a teenager.

"I bet that fool Genma had a hand in it until now Kuno had no idea of where we lived" Ryoga growled. That fool never knew when to stop running his mouth, even around his enemies. He was weak and foolish, he had no honour and he made Ranko's life a misery. He aided in helping her enemies and only looked out for himself, how he and Ranko were cut from the same cloth was still a mystery to him. She clearly took after her mother.

Asami's smile became warped with anger "Well, Genma can look into a cheap motel for the rest of his remainder" she responded. Genma could look after himself from now on, he had no problem with it until now. He wouldn't be getting free meals or shelter from her in the foreseeable future, he wasn't worthy of such kindness. Ranko couldn't help but chuckle, picturing her father in a cheap hotel, sulking about how everyone was cruel to him. "I do believe you should stay off school for a while Ranko dear, you've had quite the couple of days. With your Neko-ken being triggered and Kuno harassing you, it would be best to mentally recover" Asami suggested. Her body and mind would need to rest after all she had endured, she would need personal space away from her tormentors and enjoy some personal space. She didn't want Ranko pushing herself further.

Ranko panicked, she couldn't possibly ask Asami to do such a thing. She could cope with school, it wasn't that big of a deal, her education and lessons were important. College was her ticket to getting out of this place and finally becoming free of Genma for good "I don't want to be a bother" she stammered. Asami couldn't babysit her all the time, she needed her freedom too.

Asami frowned, how could Ranko possibly believe she was a bother to anyone? No doubt Genma had influenced her into believing so growing up. "Ranko, your mental health is just as important as having a cold or fever, if you aren't able to focus, your schoolwork will be affected too. If so, you can work from home" she scolded. Ranko could work from home and she would explain everything to the teachers, she would be able to keep up while allowing herself to heal. When she was fully recovered and suitable to return to school, then she would be happy. Until then, home rest was crucial and she could take things easy, it would be nice to have the company too.

Ranko softened, though stern Asami was very nurturing and understanding. She always had Ranko's best interest at heart and never pressured her into anything she wasn't comfortable with. She was relieved to know Asami would be her mother in law someday "Arigato Asami, I'd appreciate that, but can Akane or Ukyo still visit?" she questioned. She would miss being able to bond with Akane at school and Ukyo was soon going to be attending school with them. They could all be a group together and bond, but now she might miss Ukyo's first day which would be crappy. Her friends were like her family too, she missed their companionship.

"Akane, she's the youngest Tendo you befriended correct?" Asami questioned, she knew she and Akane became very close upon her moving here. She was so far the only female friend Ranko had at the school, she was often teased by others for being a tomboy. She was the only girl at the school who wore a men's uniform and felt comfortable with it. Asami had bought her a small uniform and tailoured it to better fit Ranko so she would be able to wear it at school.

Ranko nodded "Hai, I met Akane after moving here and we became best friends" she explained, they were also mutual friends with Ryoga, meaning they all bonded together. She couldn't wait for Akane to meet Ukyo, they would get along so well.

Asami was relieved to know Ranko had friends in their local area, meaning she wasn't isolated and she had people she could bond with who were her own age. She respected Ranko's privacy but hoped she had people she could enjoy companionship with. "Ukyo was that lovely girl that came over for dinner with cake" Asami smiled, she was very well mannered with a fiery spirit. She heard she was running a family resteraunt at her age, she would have to visit sometime and test the cooking. It was nice to eat out somtimes as to avoid doing dishes and prep work.

Ranko nodded, glad that Asami remembered, Genma tended to actively forget everyone that Ranko befriended. "Yeah, she really enjoyed meeting you, she's just socially awkward" Ranko laughed. Ukyo had always been a tomboy growing up, leading to her being teased. But Ranko had always stood up for her and the two enjoyed playing together. It was only natural after being separated that Ukyo would become depressed and withdraw into herself. She tended to be a loner, but she was loyal to the people she could trust, such as Ranko.

"I'm sure after the past couple of days being able to see them will cheer you up immensely" Asami smiled. If she so wished she could stay over too, now that Genma was no longer lodging for free, they had a spare room for guests she had been able to clear out. It would be nice to have someone new in the home, especially one of Ranko's friends. It would make the home so warm and lively.

Ukyo dashed in the direction of the Hibiki dojo as fast as her feet could carry her, after getting a phone call from Asami that Ranko was attacked by Kuno, she was enraged. She would teach that guy a lesson he would never forget about harassing her best friend so much, but she could worry about that later. She had to see if Ranko was unharmed, if he'd laid a hand on her he had breathed his last. Her best friend had been in trouble again and she couldn't help her, once again out of the loop. "Damn that Kuno guy, when I meet him I'm gonna beat the crap out of him" she growled. Suddenly she spotted a girl with bluish-black hair crossing her path and brown eyes, she was wearing a black turtleneck jumper and a pair of skinny jeans. She skidded to a halt, nearly bumping into the girl. She admitted, she was painfully her type, as much as Ranko was, now that she was living in Nerima, she could be more open about her attraction to girls. "Uh, sorry bout that sugar, I was in a rush" she babbled nervously. When she tended to lose her temper or get mad at someone, she was often blind to anything else but getting payback. Meaning she was more prone to accidents, which she felt guilty about. She would have hated to have knocked her over and gotten her hurt.

Akane blinked awkwardly, laughing nervously to herself. Accidents happened and neither of them were hurt so there was nothing to worry about. It seemed the brunette girl was busy and was in a hurry to get somewhere, "Gomen, I'm kind of lost, I'm trying to find my friends house" she babbled. She hadn't really been to Ranko's house before so she didn't know the directions of how to get there.

Ukyo blinked, she got a vibe about this girl, she had a feeling they both knew Ranko "Um, by any chance…. Is that friend called Ranko Saotome?" she asked. This had to be fortuitous luck or something like that. Meeting a pretty girl while on the way to visit her best friend, she thanked Kami for blessing her with this luck. Giving them time to bond while on the way to visit Ranko. Maybe she could ask about Nerima a little more and the local school Furinkan she would be attending soon.

Akane blinked in surprise "You know Ranko?"

Ukyo slammed open the Hibiki household door loudly, dashing through the house to find Ranko. She didn't have time to ask questions, she just needed confirmation that her best friend was ok. She raced along the porch to find Ranko sat at the table with a cup of tea, sitting in reflective silence "Ran-chan!" Ukyo chirped happily, rushing at the redhead to smother her in a hug. She had never been happier to see anyone in her life, it felt like forever since they had seen each other, though it had actually only been weeks. She wanted to hear about everything that had happened. She needed to know all about this Kuno guy so she could locate him and enact her revenge on him for hurting her best friend.

Akane followed the brunette bashfully, awkwardly entering the household nervously "Uh…. Hi… I'm Akane Tendou, I'm Ranko's friend from school" she babbled. She wasn't used to seeing someone act so familiarly with Ranko before, clearly they had known each other a long time. She was glad Ranko had such a caring friend in her life. Though awkward and a little strange, she had a good heart, a tomboy like herself. She almost felt like an outsider despite being friends with Ranko for over a year now.

Ryoga shifted, he'd dated Akane briefly in the past to get over his feelings for Ranko during their separation due to her father's actions. Though it was in the past and they were close friends, he still felt guilt for his actions, he'd used Akane as a replacement. "Hey, Akane…" Ryoga muttered. Akane was a nice, thoughtful and kind hearted girl, but he didn't love her the way he did Ranko. If anything she was more like a sister to him. He could talk to her about things and relieve his burdens. Being an only child he had never known the joy of bonding with siblings, while Akane had 2 older sisters.

Akane smiled, he appeared to be doing well, it had been a while since she had seen him at school. "Hey Ryoga, long time no see" she responded politely, he had a really nice home. Very spacious and well decorated, a traditional build with a modern interior, something she appreciated. While in her home it was all about traditions which were often boring and stressful. She respected being the family heir, but her father tended to pressure it way too much.

"You said Kuno attacked you with some cat and then followed you here?" Ukyo babbled impatiently, just what was this guys problem? Was he doing this as a prank? Was he the school bully or something? She had never met the guy but she already hated him. She would be sure he wouldn't be getting near Ranko ever again if she had anything to do with it. Nobody bullied Ran-chan if she had anything to say about it, if anyone so much as looked at her funny they were in for it.

Asami chuckled to herself, Ranko certainly had a lot of friends, but they seemed to care a lot about her "Girls, why don't I make some more tea, then we can talk about this rationally" she suggested. She enjoyed making snacks and sharing her home cooking with others, the last thing Ranko needed was her friends getting riled up. This was about bonding, not an interrogation.

Ranko shifted, she hadn't told Ukyo or Akane about this story, keeping it hidden like a dirty secret. She'd wished it was a bad dream and cats would never haunt her memories ever again. Nobody knew about the Neko-ken training Genma subjected her to as a child, if Nodoka knew she would have used her sword on him herself. She had repressed it in hopes of forgetting and recovering, which only made it worse. No matter how many times she wished it was all a bad dream, the very sight of a cat sent chills down her spine. She was resorted to a sobbing mess and a ball of anxiety just by being around them. She never spoke about it out of fear of being teased, Genma had never bothered to read that it was illegal or banned, he was that kind of fool. It was too late to undo the damage by the time he was smart enough to discover this.

"So… you know when….when I was separated from you, back when pops… made me go on that training trip" she muttered. Why had her mother ever allowed Genma to talk her into this agreement, he couldn't be trusted. God, just reliving it, thinking about it, all their wide yellow eyes and loud yowls, the strong scent of fish and the darkness, she felt her palms becoming clammy and her breathing becoming quick. She hated how easily she became triggered by them, she hated how afraid she was, but she needed to share this. She knew she was panicking, she knew she was afraid.

"breathe dear, just breathe through it" Asami reassured her, she didn't need to force the words out, but speaking about it would help her get better. She was making good progress into healing. She was sharing such a painful and personal phobia and memory with her friends, this was a very brave thing for Ranko to be doing.

"He… he found this…. This method, a martial arts technique… called Neko ken or cat fist…." Ranko stammered. God she wished she could tear it up and burn it, go back in time to prevent her father from ever using it on her. Undo the trauma he had inflicted on her, how could he possibly have thought it was a good idea? He was beyond a fool to even attempt it.

Ukyo raised her eyebrow suspiciously "Wasn't that banned for…." she trailed off, it was a technique she had heard about in books before but thought it was just a fairytale. Her father told her it was a stupid and dangerous method that only a fool would ever attempt, Genma being that fool. Her eyes widening and rage filling her eyes, oh hell no, Genma didn't. In the time he took her best friend away from her, he subjected her to such a terrible practice? "What did he do?" she snapped coldly. She would be sure that Genma would rue the day he met her again, because he had a lot to answer to.

"It seems Genma attempted the technique on Ranko repetitively to expected failure, which caused a negative response in Ranko, as well as a phobia of cats" Asami responded. Genma saw failure as weakness, never understanding that some martial artists simply couldn't master a technique because their bodies were built differently. He had forced Ranko to learn a banned technique which ended being useless and simply traumatized her instead. Of course, he would never use it on himself being the coward that he was.

"Oh Ranko" Akane responded sympathetically, she never knew Ranko endured something so frightening. Everyone had a phobia of something, she herself loved cats but she would do her best to support Ranko. She didn't know how but she would try, if anyone tried to bully her about it they would answer to her. Making fun of someone because they were afraid was an act of cowardice.

"I'm gonna kill that bastard" Ukyo growled angrily. First he stole her best friend away from her, then he did this to her? Hadn't Ranko suffered enough? How was he even allowed custody of Ranko after all he had put her through. He wasn't just a disgrace to the study of martial arts but also a man. He was honourless and disgraceful, no wonder Ranko disowned him as a parent.

"The event causes amnesia in Ranko upon her returning to normal, however, she can recognize people in cat form. But her emotions and actions become more prominent in the feline form" Asami responded. She blocked out the memory of becoming a cat which was most likely caused by the trauma she endured growing up. But her actions showed that Ranko was still within deep down, though she expressed her feelings primitively, rather than in a human sense. She was in the mindset of an animal, not a human.

"You mean she becomes a cat?" Akane responded in shock, was that even possible? Humans and animals were too different beings, how could Ranko become an animal in martial arts. Even with trauma, becoming an animal in mind and body seemed like something out of a fairytale or something. This had to be a joke, this couldn't be the truth. Ranko behaving the same way a cat would?

Ryoga nodded, understanding Akane's confusion to learning this "Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself but it's true" he explained. It was the strangest night he had ever experienced. Ranko communicating through chirps, purring and meows, verbalizing her words the way a cat would. Using body language and feline behaviour to express herself. But he accepted it and he was getting used to it, as strange as it was. Though it wasn't something he wanted Ranma to experience often, due to it being triggered by extreme fear.

"She becomes a cat personified, taking on the ability of Neko-ken but not to the strongest ability in the martial arts, but she does increase her martial arts ability. But due to it being born from fear, it's more a defence mechanism to protect her psyche from damage" Asami explained. It wasn't a form of martial arts meant to attack, it wasn't born out of channeled psyche or focus. It was a botched ability Ranma formed out of fear and defence, she behaved in the way of a cat rather than an attack. Ranko's mind and body was under so much stress due to her phobia she regressed into the form of an animal to cope. As cute as Ranko was while mimicking a cat, it wasn't normal or healthy for her mind.

Ukyo hugged Ranko abruptly, holding her close, hurt that Ranko had been hiding this all this time. How could Genma do this to her best friend? Ranko had come to hate cats to such a degree because of Genma's actions. Thinking back to how much happier and safe Ranko would be if Genma never ruined her life. "Ran-chan, gomen, if… if he never took you away, this never would have happened…" she trailed off. She would do her best to make sure Ranko never came into contact with cats if she could help it. Though she loved animals, Ranko suffering because of the very vision of a cat wasn't something she wanted her to endure. So she would chase off any cats she came across to protect her best friend. Ranko softened, appreciating the comfort of her best friend, Ukyo really cared about her. She often looked at Ukyo as the sister she never had, someone she could rely on and look up to.

"So… what happened while she was in Neko form? Was anyone hurt?" Akane asked, if Ranko lost control and became a cat, wouldn't that make her dangerous even if Ranko was still in there. A cat's mentality compared to a humans was very different, they didn't think or act the same way at all.

"So you spent the whole night looking for her?" Ukyo replied in surprise, she was impressed by Ryoga's dedication, he really cared about Ranko. If she had known she would have helped them cover ground and helped with the search. But they had gotten her home safely and that was what mattered, that Kuno jerk was now out of her life too. So things had worked out for the best in the end, which was something to celebrate. But even with a restraining order and being beaten up by Asami herself, Kuno didn't sound like the kind of guy to give up on Ranko too easily. Either he was stupid or he just couldn't take no for an answer. She would have to protect Ranko at school to make sure he left her alone.

"I… I just got this feeling Ranko was in trouble, so I went looking for her with mum" Ryoga explained, call it gut instinct but something inside of him told him that Ranko was in danger. So he'd run out into the night with his mother to locate her and bring her home where she belonged. Ranko cuddling up to him all night hadn't been what he expected but he had enjoyed it, knowing that even in Neko form, Ranko loved him. Cat's were picky about who they liked after all, so he couldn't help but feel proud that Ranko was so cuddly in cat form around him.

"She was unharmed luckily, but the poor dear was unfortunately transformed by the time we located her" Asami explained. It was very surprising to witness, keeping their distance out of caution to how she would respond, but it worked out in the end. Luckily he was able to communicate with her and she understood him, bonding with her on a personal level. Showing how much her son cared about Ranko, how far he would go to protect her. It was an admirable trait to have and reassured her she was doing her mothering correctly.

"So what happened? She didn't attack you did she?" Ukyo asked in concern. If Neko Ranko didn't know any better, due to her emotions being amplified while being in a feline mentality, she wouldn't be able to control her actions. She didn't know how this worked, but clearly Neko Ranko was still dangerous to an extent, meaning they had to be cautious. She would never hurt Ranko, but defending herself in case Ranko got riled up in cat form was a different matter.

Asami smiled in amusement, chuckling to herself as she sipped her tea, she decided her son could speak for himself on his relationship with Neko Ranko. But she clearly trusted him and she admired the bond they shared. Ryoga blushed, still reflecting on how cuddly Ranko had been as a cat, how she never once left his side like a bodyguard. "She uh….no she didn't hurt me…" he stammered, she had protected him, marked him, cuddled with him. In fact she had been nothing but sweet and affectionate with him, hell annoying Kuno just to see the look on his face was worth it.

Ukyo raised her eyebrow, a small smirk appearing on her lips, something interesting was going on. It seems Neko Ranko had been awfully cuddly with him and she was too bashful to share the details. "Sounds like she was happy to see you then" she smirked, she'd love to see this the next time Ranko transformed. She would be able to tease Ryoga about this for ages.

"He was so good with her, calming her down so she didn't freak out and run away. She was so happy to see him she ran at him and perched on his chest" Asami chuckled. Ryoga blushed, the memory of Ranma curled up on his lap making him blush, he'd hoped to hide this from Ranko out of embarrassment. I mean she couldn't help it, she was acting like a cat, she'd not known any better. I mean it was adorable but he knew Ranko would never remember it happening. Ranko freaked out, internally screaming at doing something so embarrassing. She would never be able to live this down, crawling onto his lap? As a cat, she had run straight at Ryoga and slept on his lap? She cupped her face in her hands bashfully. Well that wasn't too bad, it was the human equivalent of a hug is all, but she wouldn't remember it. She could have licked his face and she would have blacked it out.

"Aww, that's so sweet" Akane responded, in her own way Ranko had been showing affection towards him. Cats marked humans using scent to show they cared, so Ryoga should feel very lucky that Ranko did such a thing. Cats were awfully picky about which humans they liked, meaning Ryoga was special to her. In her cat form she was able to express how she felt about him.

"She spent the whole night perched in Ryoga's lap, following him around the house as a lovesick puppy" Asami sighed. She wished now she took pictures to remember the moment, but they had been so caught up in helping her recover that it slipped her mind. But watching them bond even with Ranko's feline habits, it had been very sweet to witness. How Ranko had pined and waited for Ryoga to return when he went to take a bath, how happy she was when he came back. All the subtle ways Neko Ranko showed she cared.

Ukyo snorted in amusement, choking on her tea, trying not to choke as she withheld her laughter. While that did sound adorable, that would be hilarious to witness, Ryoga being smothered by cat-girl Ranko. Akane merely smiled, she knew Ranko was a gentle person deep down she was just shy and awkward, maybe her Neko form would help bring them closer together. "But what about Genma? Surely he had to know about this?" Ukyo suggested sharply. If Ranko had been in danger and needed help, why hadn't he joined the search party? But then Genma tended to look out for himself more than anyone.

Ryoga smirked, this was still the most satisfying part, being able to live in his home and not worry about Genma showing up. "Mum kicked him out, lazy good for nothing showed up for dinner and Ranko got pissed. So we kicked him out to stay in a cheap hotel for the night". He wouldn't be showing up anytime soon, after the damage he had caused, he was staying out of their home. Unless he got a job or learned some form of responsibility, he was no longer welcome in their home. It was better for all of them that way, they couldn't become involved in any of Genma's schemes or antics in the future.

Ukyo grinned, kicking Genma to the curb so he could no longer drag them into his problems or leech of them. It was the best decision to make, given his bad reputation "Good job" she praised. She knew he would sulk and skulk about, but given Ryoga's mother had threatened him, he'd know better than to show his face. Given she was now in the picture, Ranko was gaining bodyguards that he would be forced to take on.

"But then if Kuno caused her to transform, did Ranko attack him as a cat?" Akane asked, surely even with how skilled Kuno was, Neko Ranko would be stronger. Cats were known to go all out in fury when in battle, using every weapon to their ability, claws, teeth and agility were of key.

Ryoga grinned proudly "Nah, mum kicked his ass easily, he didn't even put up that much of a fight. Thanks to the police I doubt he'll be showing up here again soon" he chuckled. He would never stop reminding Kuno of the fact his mother defeated him so easily in battle, he'd be sure everyone at school would know and tease him for it. He'd be sure Kuno suffered that humiliation up until they ended high school and attended college. He delighted in bringing that misery to Kuno's life.

"Your mum beat Kuno? How come we missed that?" Ukyo scoffed bitterly, this guy sounded like a total jerk, she'd love to see him get his butt handed to him by a girl. See how he liked it, treating girls like they were too delicate to fight then realize they were stronger than him. Realising he was a weakling, that even a woman could beat him.

"I'd have loved to see that, he holds back on me and every other female opponent" Akane huffed crossly.

Asami hummed, so this boy was misogynistic as well as sexist, he looked down on women as inferior fighters because of of his family traditions. The more she heard about this boy, the less she liked him, she felt much more relieved that she beat him. "I wanted to inform you of this, in the case that Ranko should be triggered to transform again when I am not around to aid you. Ranko trusts you and Akane, meaning she may show a positive response should you run into her as a Neko" she explained. They would be able to help her revert back to normal and calm her down.

"No problem, after I attend Furinkan I can fight off any jerks who give Ran-chan crap" Ukyo stated proudly. She would be able to make an introduction nobody would forget, making it clear that anyone who messed with her best friend was toast. She'd make it clear that Kuno was her enemy and who her friends were, she'd like to see anyone take her on after that. She may have been a girl, but she wasn't this weakling that Kuno believed women to be.

"I love cats, I'm sure she'll be fine" Akane responded

Ukyo gripped her best friends shoulders tightly, her blue eyes staring back at Ranko's intently "Ranko, you're my best friend, I'd do anything for you. I'd fight off armies for you, I don't know how I'll act when I eventually meet Neko you, but I'll help you get back to being Ran-chan no matter what" she reassured her. The image of Ranko becoming a cat was worrying, but deep down she was still Ranko, she was trapped in a veil of fear and confusion. She'd help her through the confusing mess and bring her back to reality. Ranko softened, she needed to hear these words, especially after what occurred the previous night.

Akane smiled awkwardly "I'm good with animals but I assume Neko-ken and real cats are very different, but I'll do my best to keep an eye on you when you transform" Akane responded. Ranko smiled, she knew this was a lot to take in but Akane was trying, they both were and that was what mattered the most.
