Alleyways, One-Shot

A few moments after they left the House of De Vil, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore ran across the street, soon as the light turned red. Seconds after Alvin and Simon were on the first sidewalk they had seen from the steps, the two brothers encouraged Theodore to make it across the street. However, Theodore did his best to avoid the cars that now sped towards him. Before Theodore was squished by a truck, Simon ran out on the street and grabbed his arm. Alvin cried when he saw Simon and Theodore had vanished for a few seconds, but were darting straight towards him, toppling each other on the sidewalk.

After they moved off each other, Simon panted while telling his two brothers, "Let's find the alley Theodore and I told you about, Alvin. It'll be much safer than crossing the streets again."

"Good plan, Simon!" Alvin said in agreement.

"Yeah," said Theodore, also agreeing with his older brother. "Let's get out of here." Then he chased his brothers down the long sidewalk, where he caught Alvin once looking back at the massive, tall building.

For the rest of the morning, the three chipmunk brothers hurried across streets and down alleyways. Eventually, the chipmunk trio came to a street that led to the entrance of a large, wide park. While Alvin and Theodore stood confused, wondering where they were, Simon told his brothers to find an alleyway to hide inside, as he left them for a few moments to find a street sign. Simon was gone for a few minutes, which still made Alvin and Theodore a bit nervous and frustrated. When Simon returned, he told his brothers they were near a park named Regent's Park.

Before they entered the park, the three chipmunks came across a small alley and fled into the shadows. Once the coast was clear, Simon led Alvin and Theodore towards the opening, upon which Theodore sniffed the air and smelt the same brown dust that was inside the vent's tunnel, back in Los Angeles on the night they vanished from sight. As soon as he had both his brothers' attentions, Theodore found his paws were covered in the golden-brown dust. After attempting a few times to get the dust off from his paws, Theodore accidentally touched a battered copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring book.

Now interested, Theodore asked his two brothers, "Ooh! I wonder what this book is."

Alvin observed the book, briefly, "It looks beaten up and ancient. So, maybe we should look elsewhere to clean your paws…"

Simon, thinking deeply, told Alvin and Theodore, "Look, you two! What is happening to the book?" Just as he said these words, the dust fell off from Theodore's paws and entered the pages of the battered book, as well as nestled in the leather front and back covers.

Confused, Theodore admitted, "That's never happened before. Not when…"

"Scatter!" cried Simon, as he and his two brothers fled behind the garbage cans standing against the alley walls.

A few brief moments passed, and then before the three chipmunks' eyes they witnessed a blonde-haired girl with an American personality pick up the battered copy of The Fellowship of the Ring book, seconds before she darted out of the alley. Theodore may have looked mesmerized, but Alvin and Simon had their suspicions about the book and immediately guessed why the girl would take the book out of the alley in the first place. Just as the three chipmunks discovered the girl was inside a yellow cab, heading straight into Regent's Park, Alvin and Simon briskly fought over who would be the leader, before they followed Theodore out of the alley. Between all three chipmunk brothers, they knew they had to find a way to snatch the book out of the girl's hands, before she did something they would surely have regretted.
