Ana POV While leaving the hospital
Ana needed to lift her spirits after seeing Ray in the hospital. Calling her mom was out of the question, even though she loved her mom with all her heart. Her mom was not the most emotionally supportive parent.
Ana remembered when she was fourteen and had her heart broken for the first time by a boy she had a crush on. His name was Alexander Cruz, he had blond hair and blue eyes. He had a pleasant smile from what Ana could remember about him. She just could not remember why she had a crush on him to begin with, but she remembered that she went home crying after she told Alex how she felt about him. Her mother told her to get over it and there are other boys to have crushes on. She then named a few in her class that was better suited for her. Ignoring her feelings at that moment. So mom was out.
While walking to her, Ana's phone wrung. Taking the phone out of her back pocket, Ana looked at the screen and smiled a little. The name appeared as an emoji of a dog. Ana answered the phone with a smile and sigh. She said "hello"
The man on the other line replied, "how is my fiance today?"
"I don't know I haven't met her yet," Ana replied with a laughing smile.
"When are you going to stop being difficult and marry me Ana?" The man asked.
" When you say you love me and only me, Mr. Rodriguez" Ana replied.
Me and Jose have had the same conversation since we met freshman year of college. Jose would always ask me to marry him and I would always ask him to profess his love for me, which he never does or will. Jose likes whatever Jose likes. I can never put a title to Jose's taste, we both just know that we will never be a thing, he is my best friend and he always will be.
"It will happen one day, I can feel it in my bones," Jose replied.
"Which part, marrying you, or you telling me you love only me?" Ana asked, already knowing the answer.
Ana reaches her car while waiting for Jose to reply. Unlocking the door and sitting in the driver's seat, she could hear Jose's next reply, for it even came fully out of his mouth.
"I love all things," Ana and Jose answered at the same time. Making both of them laugh.
"I had a reason for calling Ms. Steele, not just to ask for your hand in marriage. Jose said after composing himself after laughing.
"I'm all ears" Ana replied.
"I'm having an art show for two months and you're invited," Jose said.
"Are you serious, Jose? Congratulations," Ana said excitedly.
"Yes, it's true I'm coming up in the world" Jose said smugly. Don't let this go to your head, Ana said monotone.
You will still love me no matter what, Jose said with confidence.
"That is true", Ana said without hesitation.
"I also wanted to ask you if I could use the pictures I took of you," Jose asked. "which ones?" Ana asked.
"the ones that have you posed beautifully," Jose said.
"the ones where I'm the most beautiful and vulnerable?" Ana asked, already knowing the ones he was talking about.
"yes," Jose replied quickly.
Ana sat in the driver's seat, thinking about the pictures Jose took of her last year after her breakup with Max. Even though she loved those pictures, they were really raw of her pain and what she had overcome.
"Jose" Ana stated
"Ana" Jose replied
"You can showcase the pictures, but I get a quarter of the profit if they sell," Ana stated.
"You can have half if they sell," Jose stated with confidence.
"Jose", Ana stated, Jose only laughed. " I have to go, Ana needs to get to work on this show, Jose said.
Alright, I need to go to a meeting with the parents. Ana said.
"oh lord," Jose replied.
Ana could feel the eye roll from over the phone. "Bye, Jose" Bye Ana.
Hanging up with Jose, Ana put the key in the ignition and then the car in gear and headed for her meeting.
