Leonard and Penny would take the girls out almost every day. Beverly and Alfred would go out on occasion, but they were content at the villa.
"It's a good thing there's chlorine in these pools," Alfred said to his wife.
"Shh, what they don't know won't hurt them," Beverly smiled.
"How's your back?"
"It's a bit sore, but I think some time in the hot tub will fix that."
"Good thing we already broke that in," Alfred laughed.
"Yeah, we kind of break things in where ever we go."
"Race you to the hot tub?"
"That's not fair," Beverly said, "you know damn well I can't race you," she tried to fake being mad.
"Fine," Alfred sighed dramatically, "we'll go together." Alfred made the decision to hold onto Beverly as they made their way to the hot tub. In the past, sex would tire the woman out and he didn't want her to fall.
"This feels so good," Beverly said as they sat in the hot tub.
After a while, Alfred noticed his wife having trouble staying awake. "Honey," he rubbed her arm, "why don't we dry off, change, and take a nap?"
"Okay," Beverly whispered.
Alfred got out before helping his wife, "easy now, just take your time," he said as he helped her out. Alfred took care of his wife first before changing and lying down next to her.
Penny, Leonard, and the girls left three days before Beverly and Alfred. The girls wanted to stay, but they felt better knowing that their grandparents would be home in a few days.
"I really hate to leave," Beverly said to her husband on their last night.
"We should come here more in the future. I mean there are plenty of places all over the world where we need to break stuff in," he said making his wife laugh, "but this one will always be special."
"Maybe, we should redesign our suite to look like one of these villas."
"The only problem is that the infinity pool would be missing the view of the Mediterranian."
"True," Beverly chuckled, "thank you for taking me away."
Alfred kissed her temple, "anytime, but we should really get some sleep."
"The worse part about traveling is the actual traveling."
"No kidding," Alfred said. The two fell asleep in each other's arms feeling more in love than they did when they arrived.
Penny and Leonard decided to tell the girls that their grandparents were returning a day later than they were. Alfred and Beverly got home late and went straight to bed. They had the entire next day to relax. They noticed that day that the glass and broken frames had been picked up. The pictures were placed in new frames and back in their spots. Alfred and Beverly's second day home was when the girls ran to see them. Alfred noticed how well his wife was doing.
"Maybe we should move to Greece," he said one day.
"Where is this coming from?" she smiled.
"You just appear to be doing so much better since our time there. Plus, I only remember you having difficulty with your MS the one time, and in all fairness that happened after sex."
"I appreciate you thinking of my wellbeing, but we could never leave our family."
"I know, but it was a nice thought."
"We can always go back."
"Anniversary trip?"
"You're on," Beverly smiled and kissed her husband.
One day, Beverly decided to give her friend a call. "Hello, Beverly how are you?" a woman answered her phone.
"I'm well Mary and you?"
"I'm doing well also."
"Listen, I know you're coming to town and I wanted to ask you something."
"Anything"
"Would you take me to church one day?"
"Seriously?" Mary asked in disbelief.
"Yes, I have been doing well physically, but I thought that maybe if I could find God that I could heal emotionally."
"Absolutely," Mary said with great confidence, "I'll look at churches near you and we'll try one."
"Thank you, I really appreciate it."
"Anything for Jesus, I mean you."
"Smooth," Beverly said before hanging up with her friend.
Growing up, Beverly was never able to worship any religion because she couldn't see how any god would allow her to be so mistreated and abused. She had been doing research and thought that if she could find religion that she could believe that one day she would be free from her multiple sclerosis. Maybe she could find more inner peace. She wasn't sure that she would like attending church, but she had purchased a Bible and some books on Buddhism. She mainly hoped that Buddhism could help her find some serenity in life. Beverly loved her life and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Sometimes you just need extra help finding the inner peace you need to get through the tough times.
Penny ended up giving birth to a baby boy name Liam Wyatt Hofstadter. A little over a year later she gave birth to another son named Thomas Alfred Hofstadter. Nori and Faith were in kindergarten and first grade now. That was something that was difficult for Beverly. Now that her grandchildren were starting school that meant that they would be running over spontaneously less and less. Beverly loved all of her grandchildren equally, but she and Nori had an especially close bond. Nori is the only one of her grandchildren to really witness what the woman's multiple sclerosis could do to her. Nori went with her grandparents to Beverly's treatment for four days and spent those days plus the following two weeks with them a great deal. Beverly believes that if it weren't for the brave little girl and the trip to Greece, that she might not be around anymore.
