Chapter 8 Part two
okay I start here with the conference call with the President
Good afternoon, Major Lennox said as he addressed the President to which the President smiled then replied. Well, It's Monday afternoon where you are but, it's late Sunday night here in Washington. As Prime stood by listening Lennox smiled back and said, Yes sir it is. After a few minutes of the President looking over what appeared to be some papers on his desk he then begin to address Optimus. I would assume that you are the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime? Yes Mr. President and I'm and I would like to say it is an honor to finally meet you. No, the honor is mine Commander Prime and everyone please at ease the President replied back. Optimus nodded his head in respect and motioned his Autobots with a flick of his wrist and they too stood at ease and then Lennox said to his team, at ease. Well, the President continued on speaking, I know Major Lennox and his team but now I would like to know yours commander Prime. Optimus just gave a slight nod then proceeded on, Mr. President, this, pointing now at Elita, is our commander of the elite femme officers and my wife Elita one, and the mech standing next to her is our son, Rammer. Then Optimus turned and faced his Autobots and pointed at each one as he was introducing them. Starting from left to right is my second in command Prowl, then my weapon specialist Ironhide, with his wife Chromia and their daughter Staylie. Standing next to them is our medic Ratchet with his wife Moonracer with their two sons Bounce and Beamer. The next set of mechs are Members of the elite Wreckers tasks force Hound and his son Bulkhead. Next beside them are twins they are Sunstreak and Sideswipe then right next to them are also twins but much younger and they are mudflap and Skids. Then at the end of the line are Bluestreaker and Mirage. Optimus then turned around and faced the screen after he finished introduced his team and said, I Also have four other Autobots who were on shore leave and will return today and they are my battle commander Ultra Magnus and his wife Nightspeed and Kup and Wheeljack.
After Optimus had introduced his team there was a minute or two of silence then the President went on to say; well, after all this time I'm glad we got to finally meet each other. Unfortunately this not just a social call and the other issue I wanted to speak to you about is the reports I have received are concerning the Autobots taking shore leave to visit so close after the devastating war. As you all know it has been the biggest lost of life our world has ever known. I know you regret this and I and a few other nation leaders see that your teams have saved our world from doom. But for the majority of the population no, for them y'all may or may not ever be accepted I'm sorry to say.
The president went on speaking for a few more minutes and mention about a discussion that's in the works for a press conference. He said ,I'm offering it but as a video conference only so it could be done from your location but, many of the local news outlets want to met you Prime and your battle commander Ultra Magnus in New York. Optimus and Major Lennox and their teams too stood quite by and was listening on as the president asked that they remain on the base for now The call ended after Optimus said to the President that he will discuss these issues with he's team and let the President know of his discussion about the press meeting and the president agree.
The meeting ended and then Optimus turned and he faced his Autobots then ordered his team to their rect. room in their main hanger for a meeting. A few minutes later all the Autobots started to assemble in the rect. room getting them some engeron to drink and then they sat down waiting for Optimus to show up. A few minutes later Optimus did walk in after having just a short meeting with Prowl in the hallway. He sat down in his big chair and remained quite while listening to everyone there and what they had to say about the meeting that was just had with the President. He knew from hearing from them mainly the younglings and how they seem devastated by this news But just a minute or two later all the Autobots were in the room and realized Optimus was setting patiently for them to settle down. But Mirage, who was in a heated argument with Ironhide snapped back at Ironhide and said, then how our we suppose to have a chance to go back to a pre-war life .You know no one in here did not want to have anything to do with this war from the beginning. And now it seems that this world doesn't want us here so now where do we go? Now we can't even leave this island and learn to live amongst them what kind of life is that? Ironhide sat still not daring to talk as he saw the look upon Primes face but it wasn't that Optimus was mad no, but he knew it was Prime's place to answer that question not his but, Optimus sat there quietly he didn't speak up right away to answer Mirage's question because, he knew this was going to be upsetting to his Autobots . especially to the younglings who just last week had met with a few humans from the 12 states they visited was going to help seems now in vain.
Shortly after a few minutes more of them talking aloud to each other had passed everyone suddenly realized that Optimus was waiting patiently to talk. Th room fell deathly quiet and Optimus then started to speak, Autobots I want you to know that I'm frustrated also with the orders given down by the President of the Untied States, but as you all know we are allow to remain here on this island by General Morshower and his orders came directly from the President. Younglings I understand this is a crushing blow to your dreams it seems but, I want you to know that in time we will adapt. I have to admit though I don't know when we can or worst ever be excepted. As you know by now the final war that killed the Decepticon came at a heavy cost for this world. Everyone looked around at each other and the younglings had just looked like they felt now the war will forever be the cost of not knowing a peaceful life. Staylie, who had that cocky like but still respectful confidence about herself just stood up and said. So we are stuck here to only be entertain amongst ourselves, the humans and their internet? Everyone turned and looked at her and felt the same way and that was when Optimus spoke up and said, for now yes, Wheeljack will be able to upgrade our holoforms and we will be able to go further from our Alternate vehicle mode he told before he left for Japan. Everyone was rather surprised to hear this and Chromia spoke up and said, so maybe will be able sooner than later be able through this hologram find a new life maybe somewhere else besides this islocated island? Maybe Ratchet just said.
Optimus knew that this change was going to take longer than he thought then he spoke up again and everyone in the room got quite. As you heard there is a schedule meeting that the President wants me and Magnus to attend and well, at least I won't be along. Just then the whole room busted out laughing; it was the older Autobots who knew he didn't like to be the center of attention and most have known him before he became Prime. He struggled with leadership at the beginning because it made him front and center of everyone's attention. Rammer then tapped on the table loudly and then everyone's optics were upon him. He looked around at his father who nodded softly back at him then he said, how about we have another get together with the humans down on the beach tonight? Optimus stood up and said, yes lets do I think that we will have a good time just like before and I'll talk to Lennox soon. The disappointment that filled the room just minutes ago turned to surprisingly a cheerful mood. Hey,Hey! Optimus said trying to get their attention. Everyone quickly settled down and then Optimus went on to say, Autobots we need to get to work on the big hanger this afternoon and finish up so the younglings can move their stuff to their new quarters all right? Lets go. And with that everyone got up and left the rect room to get started on it .
An hour later Optimus show up to help Rammer finish painting his room. Rammer wanted the color cobalt blue for his room since that is the same color he chose for his alternate vehicle mode. So, Optimus came in with the last can they needed, poured some paint in the tray and got to painting. An hour later they were done and Optimus felt like he need to talk to Rammer so he turned around, ,set his roll brush down on the tray and said, Great choice in color son he said to Rammer but he wanted to say more. Hey, I don't want you or the other younglings to be disappointed and I know you all had a good time visiting last week but, just then Optimus stopped when he saw Rammer raised his hand and pointing at the two boxes over in the corner. Then why is it that we have these trinkets from their country that they gave us dad? Optimus was stunned but not surprised, listen my son we all have a lot of similarities in common with the humans yes and in time we will be able show the public in. I can't tell you anything more than it's going to take time and a little luck son. Optimus didn't want to sound like a broken record, but just went on to say one more thing. Listen ok there's a human saying try to walk a mile in my shoes. That remark won Optimus the most bazaar look upon Rammer's face that he ever saw What that means is one doesn't always understands what someone else has seen or experience it until they have experience that themselves. Still Optimus saw the puzzled look upon Rammers face. Our size, our weaponry, and the sheer devastation that this war has thrust upon their world. It is something they have never experience but, we have. And while we have no way to leave their world; we remain here in their grace. I hope someday father they see that we have a lot in common, someday Rammer said. A few minutes passed and they were cleaning up from painting and Elita walked in the room. Wow! It looks great, dark but a beautiful color choice. Rammer said, thanks mom and Elita smiled back at him then looked up at Optimus and asked him, is everything ok? Optimus smiled and said yes it is my love then unexpectedly Optimus leaned over and gave her a kiss on her forehead and to which Rammer replied, hey you two get another room! And with that they all laughed and then left and went to help Rammer move the rest of his stuff to his room.
The others too were finishing up and moving their things over into their quarters and the wash racks are now completed. The rest of the electrical connections to the rooms and engeron stations are also completed. The Autobots were happy that the new hanger is finally finished and the younglings will have their own quarters and the older Autobots will have back the privacy of their quarters to themselves. And as everyone was carrying stuff back and forth ;Prowl saw that Ultra Magnus and Nightspeed's plane was just landing out on the airstrip.
Later that evening Wheeljack and Kup had returned safely too and joined up with the others out on the beach. Magnus and Nightspeed who arrived back to base earlier in the day were briefed by Prowl on the latest orders from the President. Before everyone headed down to the beach, Major Lennox and his team had trucked out their Large portable BBQ pit, drinks and stuff and Prowl and Mirage had gone with them to transport their portable high grade engeron tank along with their stuff. And around 7pm many of the soldiers started to show up riding with the Autobots. After everyone got settled and to the surprise of all Optimus got up, ran out and got into the water with the younglings who were already having a blast. The sand and stuff in their joints and other places be damn. Few minutes later all of the Autobots except for Ratchet and Prowl was in the water. It was a rarity to see Optimus playing in the water splashing back at the younglings they all needed that laughter and excitement it was going to be a place to go more often to experience that new freedom that they have began to enjoy in these last few months. Lennox's team stayed out of the water but they were having a blast seeing their comrades having fun. The fun went on till a little after midnight when Lennox stood on top of an ice chest calling everyone over. While everyone was gathering around he started to talk, hey seriously though, I can't speak for all man kind but for us here on the base you he said, pointing to the Autobots, are family. We all here have been through hell and back again. Maybe there is something we can do to help where we can. Just then Sgt. Epps spoke up saying, hell if we are still alive after all this; that should testify for something right? Lennox hollered back in unison with the rest of his team and even the Autobots also chimed in and said "hell yeah". Prowl took a pot and tapped his finger on it which got everyone's attention. I would like to say thank you to you Major Lennox and your team. I know the last few weeks have been stressful for you and your men and ladies but, now what came out of Prowls mouth surprised everyone. But at least we had some fun tonight right? He asked as he shrug his shoulders. Everyone around could be heard laughing. Next thing you know the twins had ropes around both Prowls and Ratchet's legs and all of a sudden the younglings and some of the older Autobots joined in on the fun too and started skull dragging them both into the water with them both screaming every fowl word in their native language the whole way! Optimus yelled just as he let go of the rope that was attached to Ratchet; Autobots get with who rode out here with you, transform and roll out! Optimus got back to the shore and grabbed what he could get and Lennox ran up to him, hey you know you ain't never going to hear the end of that? No William I won't but I will sure will remember the fun I had doing that! Optimus transformed back into his truck mode and said, Lennox get in, its time to break that speed limit probably for my last time and Lennox jump up in the cab and Optimus took off like a rocket as everyone else was too hurrying to get back to the base. The extra wash racks met that the Autobots were going to have plenty of hot water and cleansing solution. Prowl was not amused but he took it better than the old hatchet did. Ratchet got back to base and had chased the better part of the Autobots all over that base. Some his wrenches made contact with, the others were hiding but after Moonracer got him to calm down the night was filled with laughter as the Autobots spent the better part of the next three hours getting all that sand and other particles out of their joints and other areas on their bodies. The next day the Autobots got up and by 3pm got the new hanger's commutations center up online. And now everyone was able to get their stuff back into their own quarters.
Later Tuesday afternoon before they left the base, Optimus did get together with Magnus about the press meeting. I rather think that if we have this meeting with the news press there will be no doubt difficult questions maybe some answers we don't have. So, maybe having it would be to soon, Magnus said. Optimus told Magnus he disagrees, that if we don't face them that it would only prolong the acceptance between them and the humans. Magnus tends to listened rather talk. Every since he and Optimus were forced into this war it had changed them, Prime the leader and Magnus became a solider under Prime's command. And last night was no different out there on the beach while he and Nightspeed stayed out of the water. He walked around listening to the younglings talk, the humans talk and the other Autobots too.
