Sorry for the very short chapter, but I've been really busy, and I will talk about it at the end, for now, enjoy what I have.
"Again, what is this one?" Inquired Maester Luwin as he tapped on the map with his stick three times. The place he had tapped on was East of Sea Dragon Point, South of Bear Island, and North of Torrhen's Square.
"The Dreadfort?" Answered Leon hesitantly with a lack of confidence in his voice as he looked at the old man.
"No, this is Deepwood Motte." Said the Maester of Winterfell while shaking his head. "The Dreadfort is over here and their lords are?"
"Uh, the Boltons, right?" Responded Leon after looking at the map and seeing that the Dreadfort was located Southeast of the Lonely Hills and North of the Sheepshead Hills.
"Correct." Affirmed Maester Luwin with an approving nod before moving his stick back over to Deepwood Motte and saying. "Now, who are the Lords of Deepwood Motte?"
"House Mander-no, House Glover, right!?" Answered Leon as he looked at the Maester for his approval. He was in the process of saying House Manderly when suddenly remembering that they were the Lords of White Harbor.
"Yes, and what is their sigil and the Bolton's sigil?" Queried Maester Luwin after giving him the confirmation he seeked.
"A glove for House Glover, and I think a man for House Bolton?" Stated Leon who in all honesty didn't have a single clue what House Bolton's sigil was.
"You are correct, Leon, but you need to be more specific." Revealed the old man in a firm tone.
At this, Leon gave the old man a seriously look who only smiled in return while shrugging his shoulders a bit.
Looking back at the map and the two areas they were talking about, Leon voiced his thoughts. "A black glove on red for House Glover, and for House Bolton I honestly don't remember. I think it's a red man, but that's all I can recall of their sigil."
"Close, but no Leon." Firmly declared the grey-robed man with a shake of his head. "House Glover's sigil is a gauntlet. A silver mailed gauntlet closed in the shape of a fist on scarlet red. As for House Bolton, it is a red flayed man on pale pink spotted with red blood drops."
Leon noted the small bit of disdain in Maester Luwin's voice on the mentioning of House Bolton's sigil, but was unable to comment on it due to him saying next as he looked at him. "Try to remember that next time, and don't get upset if you do forget. Robb couldn't remember House Umber's sigil when he was learning about the Northern houses, and Jon wasn't so great when it came to remembering House Cerwyn's sigil."
"Really?" Questioned Leon with a bit of skepticism evident in his voice.
"Yes." Affirmed the old man with an indifferent tone and expression. "You can ask them yourself if you don't believe me, but they'll tell you the same thing I just told you."
Leon said nothing in response to this and furrowed his brows. He had originally thought the old man was just saying that to make him feel better, but after hearing how certain he was about Robb and Jon, he started to have doubts and began to believe that Maester Luwin was telling the truth.
"Alright." Declared Leon after a while as he looked at the old man. "What's next?"
At this, Maester Luwin smiled slightly before saying. "Their words, Leon."
"Their words..." Repeated Leon in a voice barely above a whisper as he looked away and began to think about the answer to Maester Luwin's inquiry.
He thought for several seconds, remembering the words of other Northern houses before finally saying to the grey-haired man. "For House Glover their words I believe are Fist of the Starks, and for House Bolton their's are honed blades."
"Again, you were close, but not quite there." Stated Maester Luwin with a sad smile. "House Bolton's words are our blades are sharp, and House Glover's is Fist of the Northmen."
Leon once again stayed silent, but it wasn't because he was upset or frustrated. No, he had remained quiet because he was busy making mental notes about this so that the next time he is tested on this he would get it right.
As he did this though there was a knock on the door causing Maester Luwin and Leon to avert their gazes to the door as it was opened.
"Apologies for the interruption, Maester Luwin but Lady Stark has requested your presence." Spoke the man who had opened the door and was now standing in the middle of the doorway.
"It is fine, but if I may ask, why?" Inquired Maester Luwin after glancing at Leon who looked confused.
"She did not say, she only asked that I bring you to her." Answered the guardsman.
"I see." Acknowledged Maester Luwin before looking at Leon. "We'll have to continue this later, Leon, for now, you are free to do whatever you please."
Not saying anything, Leon simply nodded before watching the old man get up and leave.
After being told his lessons were postponed, Leon decided to look for Robb or Jon and see if they wanted to do something.
He didn't have to look far for either of them, for upon reaching the courtyard he saw both Jon and Robb, and another boy who he had met on his way up here playing with one another.
Leon couldn't recall the boy's name upon seeing him, but he knew it started with a C and that he was the son of Lord Cerwyn. He was nine years old if he remembered correctly, and a little quiet and shy, but that did not seem to be the case right now, for he looked to be having a lot of fun with Robb and Jon.
They didn't seem to notice Leon, which was understandable since he technically hasn't entered the courtyard yet, but what they playing was something he did not quite understand. They had each shouted things similar to "I'm Aemon the Dragonknight!" along with some other things before attacking one another with their swords. He didn't understand why they saying names of famous knights, but rather than ask, he decided to join in.
With swift and somewhat clumsy movement, Leon made his way to where his training sword was and grabbed it. He then approached the three eyes from behind Lord Cerwyn's son who had been busy fighting 'Lord Cregan Stark,' aka Robb Stark, but had stopped due to Robb stopping, and raised his wooden sword in the air while shouting.
"I am Ser Duncan the Tall, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and I shall vanquish you all!"
"Ha! We shall see about that, Ser Duncan!" Claimed Robb with excitement in his voice as Lord Cerwyn's son got out of his way while turning to face Leon.
"Indeed, those are some bold and brave words to claim, Ser Duncan." Agreed Jon who was the one that shouted about him being Aemon the Dragonknight.
"Bold but true!" Protested Leon as he took up his stance. "Now who's first!?"
Okay, so the reason why I haven't posted anything is because of work. I've been extremely busy with that, and have just not gotten time to write, and when I do have time, my body is just too tired and wants to do nothing but sleep. I work at a Sawmill, and I shouldn't have to say anything more after that. Not to mention, my girlfriend broke up with me, so my mood has been a little low, and I didn't want to write with a low mood. I wrote all this in the past few days, and while I could have waited to have more, I felt like I needed to make an update to let you all know that I'm not dead or that I've lost interest in the story. Anyways, that's all of it summed up and I'll see you in the next update.
