***this is another chapter written 10 years ago that I never uploaded, so it's a bit ... young.
After classes the two met in the Room of Requirement, and Hermione spelled Harry's eyes brown, his skin darker, his hair curly, and plastered his bangs to his forehead to hide his scar. She looked at him and worried, "I don't think this is enough. You still look like Harry to me."
He looked in a mirror that suddenly appeared, "That's only because you've seen me every day of the school year since we were eleven. It's fine! Besides I'll be under the invisibility cloak most of the time."
She glared at him, "the whole time."
"Yes, of course."
She responded with a suspicious glare, but before she could say anything, Harry threw the cloak over them and pulled her out of the room and to the passage way. When they finally reached the candy shop Hermione stopped and pulled out an extendable ear to listen through the trap door.
"I totally wouldn't have thought to bring one of those. Good thing I have you around to think of these things." Once again Hermione gave him an annoyed look.
"There's no one in the back right now. Hurry."
Just as they closed the trap door behind them, they heard footsteps. Harry went to hide behind the boxes closest to them, but she dragged him to the furthest corner.
"Over here! He's less likely to grab something from these dusty boxes."
They ducked just as a women walked over to the one of the boxes Harry had gone to.
After the woman left, Hermione whispered frantically, "Oh my gosh! This was such a bad idea. I can't believe I'm doing this. And I can't believe you talked me into letting you come!"
"Hermione! We're invisible. She couldn't have seen us anyways."
"But she could have heard us breathing!"
Harry smiled incensing Hermione, "Come on let's go."
She relaxed a little, comforted by the familiarity of their exchange, and they snuck out into Hogsmead. Finding the right robes shop, she slipped out from under the cloak, and went over to look at some robes. She took a few into the changing room, and put on a casual green robe. Looking in the mirror, she heard a voice.
"Come out, I want to see what absurdity I've contributed to."
She came out of the changing room frantically, and before she was able to berate the now visible Harry Potter for his recklessness, the woman from the shop came up to her.
"That looks wonderful! Oh, and isn't that sweet! Your, brother, is it, is helping you shop."
Harry smiled at Hermione with a look that said, I told you so, and she recovered from her frustration at seeing Harry.
"Yes, he's my brother."
She then turned to Harry, "Well, what do you think?"
"Umm… Are you actually expecting a response to that? What would I know?"
She huffed, and Harry continued, "But you can't wear that to school, we have to wear black."
"Not during the weekends."
"Oh. Well … you look nice."
"Thanks, Brian! I think I'll get it."
He mouthed, Brian, back to her with an incredulous look on his face only to get a smirk in response.
"Ms?"
"You can call me Claudia," said the woman. "Would you like me to ring this up for you?"
"Actually, do you have a blue and a black version of this as well and maybe the blue one with shorter sleeves? Also, do you perhaps have something for dueling maybe in brown?"
Harry almost yelped, "You're getting more?"
Claire laughed and went off to find the other robes as Hermione replied, "You signed up for this."
When she returned, Claudia spoke," I also saw this beautiful pink robe that I thought would look wonderful on you if you want to try it on."
The robe didn't look any different than what most girls wore on weekends, but she wasn't sure she could handle the color. "Well, I suppose I could try it on."
Hermione was quite shocked at how much she liked the robe, and Harry looked surprised when she walked out of the dressing room.
"Wow. Well if you want Ron to remember that you're a girl that should definitely do the trick."
She bought the robes (though she wasn't sure she would ever have the nerve to wear the pink one), and when Hermione told Harry to put the invisibility cloak back on, Harry argued, "I'm Brian. See. She didn't recognize me. Besides I want to at least get a butterbeer out of this incredibly boring venture."
"Argh! Well let it be said that I don't approve."
They spent an hour in the Leaky Cauldron talking, bickering over stupid things, and laughing over quite a few butterbeers. They argued like siblings and made fun of their peers at Hogwarts, and Harry mocked those doing homework while they were in the Leaky Cauldron, making Hermione scowl. Harry once asked her jokingly what her next plan was in punishing Ron, but her mood darkened, and he changed the subject before she interrupted him.
"I was the one who played the prank on them this morning."
Harry was awestruck. "My respect for you has suddenly increased several notches."
They laughed loudly and returned to safer topics of conversation. Hermione couldn't remember the last time she and Harry had had such a relaxed conversation. Right before they left Harry convinced her to join him and take a couple shots of firewhiskey.
She responded seriously at first, "Absolutely not. We need our wits about us in Hogsmead. What if Voldemort–"
Harry smirked, "If we leave right away they won't kick in until after we're back in the passageway." She couldn't believe it when she agreed to it.
In the passage back to Hogwarts, a brief wave of sadness hit her. This might be the last time that they could really be children. The war with Voldemort was soon going to hit them with the strength of whirlwind.
