Chapter 8
Adria's POV
"WHAT!" I yelled. I watched as Advik and exchanged glances.
"We need to get her to Amma," Advik said.
"Fine, take her to my mother, and grab her brother, the girl she escorted here, and all of the Ruby Room except for Jane." After finished instructing Advik, she went on to tell the rest of the class to get back on task.
Advik grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room. Normally, if a boy pulled me by my hand out of a room, I would have judo flipped him. This time around, I decided to just keep walking. I followed him through a door that I hadn't noticed before and into a hallway filled with mismatching doors, some were blue and round with a brass handle. Some were just blank white with a white doorknob. The one that caught my attention was entirely gold and had the symbol of the Olympics at the top. Sadly, we passed that one and opened a circular steel door with bolts and one of those vault handles you see in movies. He twisted the handle and the door swung open, and I was blasted with heat. It felt like a volcano had puked.
"Wait here." he told me as walked into the room and shut the door behind him, leaving me stranded in a hallway with a thousand doors. My mind began to drift and I thought of the one person that I hated the most, the person I despised.
*Flash Back*
"Adi, Triton, dinner's ready!" I stopped playing with my brother Triton, we ran to the kitchen in a race. Only being seven at the time, we thought everything was a competition and treated it as so. When I beat him easily, I smirked and looked to the head of the table to see that the seat was empty, my smirk turned to a frown and I looked to my mother for an answer.
"Don't worry Adria, I'm sure Tyson and your Father will be back soon." I could tell that she was trying to keep her tone steady, but it wasn't working.
You see my father was a sailor who did fishing and crabbing on the ocean, today my other brother Tyson had begged so hard to come, when mother finally relented. It was a sunny warm day. Halfway through the day it turned dark and cold, you could hear the rain falling fast outside. Pattering on the windows. I remember that storm in particular, that storm was the one who took my brother, my father survived and buried himself in his work, barely ever coming home before my bedtime. Then one night when my mother was in LA filming a movie, he came home at midnight, heavily intoxicated. That night I woke up to him banging on the door of Triton and mine's Bedroom. When I opened the door he shoved me to a wall and started shouting at Triton, saying that it was his fault Tyson was dead, saying that if he had wanted to swim more and pushed him into making us take swimming lessons,Tyson would have survived. I crept silently to the kitchen and put on a pair of rubber gloves and cleaned then with a sanitizing wipe. I grabbed a huge carver knife and crept back toward my room, I hid it behind my back and tapped my father on the shoulder.
"What Adria, can't you see busy?" he tried to push me away but I side stepped and sent him to the ground. I pulled the knife around, took one last look at the blade, and stabbed it into his heart.I remember the moment of doubt I had when I pulled the knife out, for years whenever my mother wasn't home he would get drunk, come home, and yell at one of us. I had been carefully crafting a plan for years and even had someone to blame it on. My actions that night were our family's closest guarded secret. My mother of course never knew that I was the one who pulled off the assassination, she thought it was a homeless person I had found on the street and convinced that jail was better than the streets. I had become a different person at 10 years old. Once I took my brother to a shoot for a documentary and our family about a year ago, when I was asked why it said my mother had triplets I answered with 'she had triplets, now she has twins'. Did I ever regret pushing the blade into his skin, no.
*End of Flashback*
"Adria, are you okay?" I was shocked out of my thoughts by Elonia who had apparently been shaking me for quite some time.
"Adria, you were staring down the hallway, looking into space." Advik told me and we proceeded down the hallway. We finally got everyone and Advik led us to a large oak door with an intricately carved gold handle. He twisted the handle and stepped inside.
And cut. I'll try 2 update quicker this time.
