A/N: So here we are with the next chapter, which is slightly shorter than the previous one - but only slightly. Some old friends are making an appearance in here and some revelations about a certain mysterious new character are made. One minor curse word here but nothing much.
From the title you will understand where most of the events of this chapter are going to be taking place in.

Chapter 8: Once upon a time in an island
The windows did little to bring the light inside the room. It was already cloudy outside so it was pretty much pointless. The windows had been open for weeks…or maybe even months; he wasn't sure. He didn't care though. Life had showed him that he couldn't be the man his father raised him to be and that fact hurt him deeply. But more deeply, hurt the fact that she wasn't there to order him, to be annoyed by his attics, to be defended by his love arrow.
How dreadful he felt… The cup was empty again and he was beginning to think that either the tea was really good and he was numb the entire time he was drinking it or he had drank so much of it that it was beginning to lose its effect on him. He shook his head in doubt. That woman would never make something that would lose its taste or effect that quickly; she had such talent.
As he reached for the pot and grabbed it, he realized that it felt empty to his hand. He groaned like a child "How can it be? I ordered a full one half an hour ago!"
"Yes, and you drank it all" was answered from the shadowy place between the curtain and the door. Karias stood up immediately and turned to the place. Had his senses dulled that much that he hadn't noticed someone there? Was it the tea or he? And that voice…he knew it.
"When did you come here Claudia?" he asked half suspicious and half…relieved? Karias wasn't sure what he was feeling seeing another person, except his closest loyal servant Saris, after so long.
She came out of the shadows carrying a knowing smile that wasn't hiding any scolding. Her eyes were clear and her hair in its usual style. She was shorter than Karias but that didn't matter as he took his usual seat on the armchair as soon as she revealed herself completely.
"Half an hour ago I came, when Saris brought you the new kettle. I convinced him to let me pass and I told him that I wanted to make sure you were alright"
"He disobeyed me?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Is that what really surprised you? Is it not the fact that you didn't even notice me or my presence inside the room for half an hour?"
"Huh…You would make an excellent spy…Didn't your mother had Kertia blood?"
"Her great-grandmother was from the Kertia Clan, yes. But I didn't come here to talk about my family tree" she said indicating that a serious matter had to be discussed.
He turned his head to the big windows that were showing the clouds moving in rate faster than a human eye could understand, but a Noble's eye could see. Karias always felt that they were lulling him to sleep. He liked looking at them; alas he knew that since she was here, he couldn't avoid it. But he wasn't going to start the conversation.
Claudia knew that Karias would become stubborn as a mule when he thought that he wasn't any good. She remembered from the time they were little children. No matter how much his father tried to raise him to be carefree and not so tense, there was still something of his anxiety that Karias took after. And it showed in these kinds of situations. When he had put everything into something or someone and failed to do what he had to. In this case to be there for the Lord that he truly loved as his sister.
Claudia never understood Karias's character; it was so complicated and simple at the same time that she just decided to accept him as he was. Besides he was one of the few people she felt nice being around. She knew she had to do something to show him that this melancholy wasn't the only thing he was able to feel.
"You want to know the most surprising thing for me?" she saw that she had his attention, even though his head was still looking outside "That half an hour was the longest I've witnessed you not talk" she said.
He couldn't help closing his eyes and smile. She had him there. Clever little Claudia. That was how he used to call her when they were very very young.
"You know Karias, the tea is good – I know, I make it – but it would help if you put your will to stop brooding" she started again.
"Is it really worth it? I let her go there and…" he couldn't continue his phrase.
"How could you have called her your sister when you are not behaving like her brother?!" was her cutting edge question to him. It took him some seconds to comprehend what she just told him.
"What are you talking about Claudia? Be careful for you are stepping out of your way"
She smiled and continued with the same intensity "You are in fact the one who stepped out of his way! You accepted defeat and sat here brooding. Would an actual brother of hers do that? Where is your value as her brother?"
"Stop Claudia…" Karias was starting to think that a headache was coming and fast at that.
"Did you really consider her your sister? If you want to be considered her brother, then get up and start searching for her!"
At that, Karias stood up and came face to face with her. Even though he was taller than the Tradio clan leader she was standing 'higher' than him and Karias could feel it.
"Really? And why don't you do it, clever little Claudia?" that was a weak response but he wasn't in any good state to think of comebacks; he was never fond of fighting anyway.
"Because you love her more than I do, because while we respect, value and honor her, you really treat her like family. And I know that she, deep down, appreciated it more than anything else you could have done."
At that he put his hand on his face and came to sit down again "I'm not really" he said with a weak voice "Not by blood or by spirit. I'm not her brother…I should have been with her and have gone with her…I failed at being the man she deserved to have as a brother…" he continued to hide behind his hands as he was confecting his deepest fears and regrets to Claudia.
She remained silent in an understanding way. She had felt her fair share of guilt before, even if it originally should have belonged to someone else. But right now she had to help her childhood friend that was starting to fall into depression once again.
"Tell me Karias, why did you like the Lord that much? What made you want to take the role of her brother?"
For some minutes nothing could be heard in the room but then Karias opened his mouth.
"She…she was always so alone, as a child. While we were playing, she was distancing herself even for the Noble standards. She wanted to be so powerful but she was so unsure of herself at the same time…She was standing in a corner like she had to inspect us. It just didn't sit right with me…" he was thinking of the first time he spoke to her. She was the exact opposite of him.
"Looked like she was already preparing herself of becoming the Lord" commended Claudia.
"Yes, wasn't it sad? I made it a point to make her feel comfortable. At the time with my childish mind I thought that if I said that I was her brother she might have relaxed" he smiled as he was remembering how that went the first time. Complete indifference.
"Well, to be honest, you still have a childish mind" she joked.
"Please, I'm just a romantic and I appreciate a good soul" and then the most unexpected thing happened…he laughed. If only for a little, he laughed. And they both realized it, as the silence was full of thoughts and wondering. Claudia smiled and he wondered when the last time that he did something so full of happiness was. Laughter was so rare in his life these days.
The woman next to him turned and was heading to the door. Karias turned too "Where are you going?" he asked in surprise and a sudden need to stop her awaked inside him.
"I thought that I needed much more to make you see even a fragment of your old self. But look" she said as she pointed with her eyes at their hands "you even got up with your will and you took my hand in order to stop a lady from leaving your presence" she said evocatively. Karias' eyes then saw it. He did get up and he was currently holding her hand. Was he really getting back to his old self? He then let her hand go, straightened his hair and took a romantic and dramatic pose.
"Oh how silly of me to hold a lady in such a manner! Will you ever forgive me my dear?"
Her smiled deepened "Only if you get out of this room and start being not who you're supposed to be but who you actually are, for you are a great person Blerster Karias, Leader of the Blerster Clan"
He bowed to her "You are…too kind to me, my lady"
"Make sure you stand on your feet again because I heard that someone is still looking, and that someone is coming here, in Lukedonia" with that she left, but not before she said "I will pay you a visit soon" and Karias was unable to answer. He was starting to feel better. She just reminded him not only what he was but also what he did for Raskreia…He took a deep breath and decided that he would do what he could to stand on his feet and be the leader his clan deserved to have.
...Miles away from Lukedonia...
Lukedonia wasn't as far from his current location as it was from South Korea, but it was still a long way to go. Not that Frankenstein minded the distance. If nothing else, he wanted time to think. Things weren't as they used to. Trust was valuable and even more valuable was…his family. Just a minute before he left he received the second call from Gejuntel that confirmed him being officially approved to be accepted in Lukedonia. 'Not that I need their approval anyway' he thought but he considered it funny how Gejuntel was so much into formalities. Even now that man never lost his composure, although Frankenstein was sure that, that man was going to reach his limit soon.
He was thankful though that the old man was going to prepare the kids about his arrival. After 3 and a half months of no contacting at all, he was sure it was going to be a good surprise for them.
…after four hours of running and one hour of resting…
Maybe going by foot wasn't the best idea he had. But then again, would Lukedonia have fuel for his plane when he would want to refuel it in order to leave?
He was almost there, he could smell the difference in the air and his senses were as sharp as ever. The normal naked eye couldn't see the mysterious island, but he could. He approached it with caution and when he finally set foot on the grounds he was sure. This trip wouldn't be in vain. Suddenly he felt some presences from afar. He smiled to himself. The Order was there. 'Idiots. Will they never understand that they are no match for me?' So he decided to play with them a little bit. Oh how he missed those cat-mouse games!
"Sir! There is an unknown visitor in the grounds of Lukedonia!" said a member of the order inside the control room. Despite the Nobles' obvious low interest in human's achievements in technology, even they understood that some things they had to have. So they had the right machines for the right task but other than that they wouldn't as much as give a second glance to them apart from the purpose they used them for.
Ludis recognized his subject's concern "Yes, I believed you had been informed from the senior Landegre that we were expecting Frankenstein today"
"Yes sir, but the presence is constantly running away from the Order Knights like…like…"
"Like he is playing a game….It does sound like him" he said with a hidden smile and he sighed "Alright, I will go to him. You tell the Knights to retreat".
"Yes, sir!" was the immediate answer.
And so he departed. It was not difficult to find Frankenstein's location. You just had to follow that malevolent aura that he was emanating when he was playing with his victims, and you found him. Now, to try and catch up with him; that was another story. But Ludis wasn't the Mergas Clan Leader for nothing. If nothing else he was in charge for Lukedonia's safety and he had a few aces down his sleeves. So he followed the aura and as quickly as could he used his shield to make a field around the area in a radius of five kilometers. He had no doubt that Frankenstein would understand that it was him.
To his big surprise, Frankenstein not only stopped moving but it looked like he was considering testing how strong the field was. Ludis was fast on his feet because that wasn't what Frankenstein was here for. He had an idea why he was in the island. Gejuntel had told him a little bit. Apparently Frankenstein was searching day and night for his master but for their Lord too. Ludis would do whatever he could in order to assist him in any way possible; even try to calm his beast down. He approached the human scientist from behind, steady and carefully, decreasing his speed and greeting him.
"Frankenstein, I'm glad you had a safe trip" he said in a cheerful voice. Deep down, he was so happy seeing him again. But he could see only his back as the human was looking at the field; almost studying it.
As Frankenstein turned to Ludis, he couldn't help but see that he was looking much more mature. The loss of their young Lord had cost them all he was sure.
"Ludis Mergas, I'm happy to see that Lukedonia is not drowned in chaos"
"Haha, if I didn't know you better, I would say you sounded almost disappointed" Ludis answered but his smile wouldn't reach his eyes as he understood the meaning behind the teasing "We are doing what we can until she comes back. We will hold as long as we can, just as she would have done"
"I see" Frankenstein saw the field disappear.
"Do you bring news?" Ludis sounded hopeful.
"As it is, I do. But not what you might think or who you might think about" Ludis understood. The human didn't want to say much. He respected that.
"Come, I will take you to sir Gejuntel"
"I know my way around here, Ludis. I used to live here you know" said Frankenstein and started jumping and running.
But Ludis was already next to him "I know but you honestly don't look that good. The trip must have exhausted you. It is only right to accompany you in case you don't feel good as you go"
"Huh…Suit yourself"
…at the Landegre mansion's front entrance…
The young figure at the entrance was waiting patiently although, if she was honest with herself, a patient person would wait inside their house, not at the entrance inside the cold weather. But she was secretly so excited that someone from the world they had met and lived in was going to visit them today. Regis was more verbal with those kind of things but she was not a fool. She knew that she felt the same way as he let it shown; happy beyond words.
Near the entrance there was a tree and behind it there was no one. You couldn't see the red eyes and the small moth covered by black fabric. For once she didn't notice and he was happy, for it showed that he could protect her even if she didn't know. She would always call him out when he was trying to care for her from a distance in fear not to disturb her. He was happy, that she was so happy; that she wouldn't sense him. But it was okay, he would be concentrated for her in her time of happiness, in order to protect her.
Frankenstein arrived with Ludis and just before they got in the Landegre property the second bid the first farewell and left. Frankenstein moved inside and there in the entrance he saw the young Loyard leader. A wave of happiness washed him.
"My, my…dear Seira it's been some time" he said in his usual manner.
"Frankenstein" she slightly bowed "I'm so glad that you are here"
Frankenstein took a better look at her as he approached her "That glad that you got outside of the mansion to greet me? Huh who would have thought that I would be so honored at my age?" as he was approaching he wondered if he should tell Rael to stop looking at him…but even though he clearly felt his presence in the place, he couldn't pinpoint exactly where he was standing. 'So the young one grew up a little more. Or maybe I'm getting too old' he thought to himself and chuckled. They were standing outside the entrance now.
"Follow me Frankenstein, sir Gejuntel and Regis are waiting for you" spoke Seira and started walking. At the same time Frankenstein was wandering just how many people knew he arrived; probably the whole island.
As they were approaching Gejuntel's quarters he was starting to feel anxious. That was so unlike him he speculated.
"Ah, you sure took your time to appear Frankenstein" the stern voice was heard. Oh yes, that was familiar territory.
"If you come to Lukedonia and you don't play with the Order a little bit, it's not that fun" he responded casually.
"I want to answer to you right now but for the sake of saving time I will let it slide…for now"
The human in the room couldn't have looked more amused but unfortunately their little banter had to wait as he had to know what Gejuntel had found. At that point Regis entered the room. His eyes lit as he saw Frankenstein but, as always he tried to keep his cool and his poise intact. Classic Landegre; Frankenstein didn't have a problem though to express his delight as he saw his little student.
"Regis, it's good to see you" he smiled.
"Frankenstein, I'm glad to see you here"
"Always with the typical answer" said Frankenstein before he could stop himself. He mentally slapped himself. The little one wasn't his grandfather.
"Well, your greeting was typical after all" said Regis without missing a bit.
Okay, so maybe he was starting to take after his grandfather a little more. M-21 would have a blast of bantering with the little Landegre.
"How are things back…there?" Regis asked with uncertainty.
"You mean back…home?" suggested Frankenstein who could see the boy's wanting to connect with their world and his need to distance himself from it at the same time. He could tell that it was tough for the young clan leader and even though it wasn't as evident, he could sense it in Seira too. Divided in half; such a painful situation. "Everyone is good in their health. The days at school are peaceful and Tao is complaining about the paperwork" he used his words frugally.
Seira though wasn't satisfied with the answer "And the search? Why are you here Frankenstein?"
"That is something for me and Frankenstein to talk about Seira" Gejuntel interfered.
Frankenstein raised an eyebrow at that. He hadn't heard the old clan leader scold the younglings in a very long time; and in such a manner. Now he was truly curious to find out what he had discovered.
The old Noble took a deep breath "You will all know if there is anything new about the search for the Noblesse or the Lord. What Frankenstein came here for today doesn't have to do with it; at least not in the first place. Please be patient"
"Regis, Seira…Please listen to him. He is right; if there was indeed something new I wouldn't keep it from you. But what I have to discuss with Gejuntel is of great importance. Forgive us, but we cannot reveal more for now" he tried to use his principal voice that he was using when he had to do with misbehaving children sent to his office from time to time. It usually worked. And from the looks of it, it worked this time just as fine. The young clan leaders apologized and left.
"Don't you think you were a little harsher than usual with them? Especially to Seira?"
"Their brooding and waiting made them yearn for the human world and we both know that it is not good in this unstable state of ours to abandon our posts as Nobles" Frankenstein had to agree to that as it was a perfectly logical reason but apparently that wasn't the only thing "Especially since I confirmed what I was suspecting, I would rather they stay away from it completely"
"What are you talking about Gejuntel? What did you find out? You told me that…"
"Come to my office"
As they went there, through the big manor – Frankenstein didn't understand why the old man's office was so far from his living quarters – Gejuntel thought it wise to prepare him.
"When you told me about those abilities I remembered something from very long ago but since I have lived a lot I didn't trust my memory. I remembered a person that was showing similar abilities to the ones you described, even though you were quite vague about them"
"I didn't know the exact range of her abilities either. I never heard of a case confirmed to have them. The humans always had made myths out of Nobles' powers but I never saw anything similar"
Gejuntel reached the door of the office "Maybe because when you came to Lukedonia that said person was already dead for a long time" he answered as they got in. Inside, what got Frankenstein's attention immediately was a big red book sitting on the study. It had seen better days. He was gestured to seat on the armchair next to the study and Gejuntel took his usual place. "I went to the manor that said person once lived in" he paused as he took the big red book in his hands and turned it to show the title to Frankenstein and at the same time he said "I went to the forgotten manor of the Agvain Clan and found the truth about the abilities of the woman you found" he said after a few seconds of silence.
At that Frankenstein rose from the armchair "What are you saying Gejuntel? That she has any connection to that clan? That the woman I have living with my family right now is…of Urokai's blood?!" he almost yelled. His thoughts were running so fast he couldn't hear Gejuntel telling him to sit down. Someone who had blood relations with that traitor…One of the people responsible for his Master's disappearance so long ago. No…What was she planning? Was she just another trick of the Union in order to… {Traitor}
"Wake up!" and a slap was heard in the room. And then silence. Frankenstein then saw that Gejuntel had come in front of him and from the look of it…he slapped him? He didn't know if he was feeling anger, shock or embarrassment. It had been almost a millennia since the last time he had been slapped. He didn't know what to say so he said the first think that came to his mind.
"What the fuck?!" He felt shame at how childish he sounded at that point…
"Do I have to worry of you losing control in my own home?! Because if that's the case I shall stop myself here and let you come back another hour of day when you would be calmer. I will not let you run crazy and endanger any of us!" It was weird how Gejuntel could make you feel like a child that had just thrown a tantrum and his parents were castigating it.
But Frankenstein recovered quickly. Was he losing his mind? He hoped not. A lot were at stake right now. He straightened his hair and clothes "I am sorry for that Gejuntel. I was thinking that maybe you had found a file of rare creatures and their abilities or some documents of that kind. I never imagined that…Please proceed, I won't lose my cool again I promise"
Gejuntel stared at the human that looked desperate to learn more and decided that since he was pleading him it was important to continue.
"Alright, but first sit down. There's a lot you don't know" he went back to his chair, but only after he raised the book from the floor. In his haste to reach to Frankenstein he dropped.
After they were both seated he restarted "First of all I don't know for sure that she actually has blood relations to Agvain. You have to wait and listen. The emotion related abilities are a complex trait only the Agvain Clan used to have. When you said that she is from a tribe that had those of mixed blood I didn't think it important as some of our kind, usually of lesser status, had visited the human world in the past and sometimes were engaged with the humans like that. So I imagined something like unusual speed or a minor ability of mind control" he then opened the book at a certain page that he had marked "but when you described her being able to detect energy, or aura as we say, emotions and getting very sensitive and also prone to agitate others…all those characteristics lead me to someone I knew that had those abilities. Urokai's mother"
Frankenstein still couldn't believe it "But how is that possible? If Urokai had such ability, why didn't he use it on me when we fought? Why not later when he was facing my Master…why not on my Master…"
"Urokai himself, apart from the physical training and the Clan's fighting style, was trained to get the better of people in battle to make them lose the control of their attention. It was one of their characteristics after all, and if I remember right he used that on you and it worked just fine; only that time it wasn't to his favor"
"Heh…I remember" the amount of despitefulness was so evident in Frankenstein voice.
If Gejuntel noticed he didn't comment on it and continued "Alas, the ability to detect, connect and possibly affect emotional state was only developed in females and it was usually royal ones. As for the energy you mentioned, if I remember right he was able to manipulate aura and use it in battle. I have heard that he used it on you in one of your resent battles" he looked Frankenstein in the eye and the human confirmed it with a nod.
"Yes, even though I never witnessed her using that energy as she mentioned it, it might be something similar"
Gejuntel had his confirmation and moved on "The Agvain Clan was strongly bounded with their emotions which were proven helpful in times of war where they would be in the first line with a passion to defend their Lord or land that none of the other clans were showing. And while the men were like this, the women always made sure to calm the others and offer the aforementioned abilities for any situation they saw fit or if the Lord asked; themselves had to stay calm too and always unaffected from the emotions that they came in touch with. In some cases they too would engage in battle but that was rare. It was a weird balance that worked. As a clan they all were very passionate and whatever feelings they had, they sometimes felt them to full extent. And that as you understand was a double edged sword"
"I can imagine" he was listening to Gejuntel like a little child was listening to a new fairy tale from their parents for the first time.
"In this book of the Agvain Clan's chronicles I managed to detect numerous cases but I won't bore you with the details; I will tell you this though… from what I have seen, I concluded that there was never an active Agvain Clan leader without a female Agvain to be alive at the same period. It's not indicated that there was some kind of rule or law about it but it looks like more of a tradition" he then paused and took a small breath "After his mother's passing, Urokai didn't have any female that possessed these powers by his side, and he didn't have any sisters or close female relatives" Gejuntel said.
"And since there wasn't any royal blood, he didn't have anyone to be the equalizer of the family. I have to ask though, how did this happen? From what you tell me they always made sure the balance of the clan existed…"
Gejuntel was silent for a lot of minutes. It looked like he was thinking not only of how to speak but also trying to remember the facts as they were. This however was making Frankenstein anxious.
"What are you thinking of, Gejuntel?" he asked trying to control the anticipation in his voice.
Gejuntel closed his eyes, let out a long and heavy breath and proceeded to face Frankenstein "I was remembering a very dark and hurtful time. You are aware of course of the time sir Raizel had to fight his own brother and eventually…he killed him in order to prevent him to abuse not only his power but also the blood stone's one, right?" when he received a confirming silence from the human he continued.
"During that time several nobles sided with his brother while others sided with sir Raizel. One of the latter was Urokai's father, Oriken Agvain. He was very loyal to the Noblesse and an ally of peace. He was quite young and Urokai at the time wasn't but only 206 years old. The Agvain Clan participated in the massacre, fought in favor of the Noblesse in the front lines. He unfortunately died in battle" he said in a sad tone and stopped for a few seconds.
Frankenstein could tell that that period was the dark pages of the history of Lukeonia, matched only by the betrayal of the Clan Leaders about 400 years ago.
"Why are you telling me all this Gejuntel? I don't think that you would hope I forgive Urokai because of his father's loyal service and sacrifice to my Master…"
"Fool! I'm trying to make you see!" he composed himself and continued "After his father's death Urokai succeeded him on the leadership of the Agvain Clan being the younger successor to ever receive a soul weapon at the time. His mother was there for him, trying to guide him. But…she, as any wife, was utterly crushed by the death of her husband. Agvain as she was, her pain was double as any other Noble's, especially given the fact that...she loved him very deeply. Very soon her courage was starting to abandon her and she wasn't able to help, not only her son, but not even herself. Nobles don't usually die so soon and nobody was prepared good enough for that battle. So she died…of heart attack"
At that Frankenstein focused his eyes on Gejuntel "I have never heard of a Noble to die from depression. Are you sure?"
"Huh…You see us now more composed but that is because we learned from so many millennia living on this earth. Neither she nor anyone else expected Nobles to die like that as it was very rare, especially for clan leaders. She was very depressed. And if I am honest with you Frankenstein…we didn't help her enough, or rather we didn't know how. The compassion of humans had long ago stopped rubbing on us at that point. She died 72 years later, and Urokai was all alone. And after that, he clung to the Noblesse's figure as he started to see him more like a parent figure than anything else, more like a person he could lean on and trust, just like his father did"
He took a breath "The rest you know…things didn't turn out for him as he wished they did" he finished his story by turning to the last written page of the book "The last female of the Agvain Clan was Urokai's mother who had died long before you were even born. Thus you never encountered anything similar. She was also the one who last wrote in this book; it was after all a responsibility of female royalties to write down the chronicles of the Clan"
Frankenstein was thinking now and calculating many things. Now many happenings were making more sense that before, like the Urokai's zeal to 'protect' his Master from him, the way he riled him up in battle, the jealousy over him for forming a blood bond with the Noblesse and many more. But now what?
"But all that you told me, up to now, don't give reason as to why there is a human with similar, if not the same, abilities as the Agvain Clan's in my home and why she was in a Union storage in the first place"
"I thought of it too, especially after I read this book. After the betrayal of the Clan Leaders, we didn't know where they went exactly or what they did or if they joined the Union all at once or in separate times. But if I had to guess, I would say that maybe Urokai preferred the company of humans simply because they are more likely to give him what he needed – emotional security. They get bonded with others easier than any of us would ever do and him being able to understand emotions in such and extensive manner…"
"Wait, you are actually telling me that Urokai liked the humans? Him, that thought them worthy only to be ruled by your species? He certainly despised me, remember?"
"Once, perhaps he did liked them, I don't really know what to think…Maybe that's why he probably…slept with some of them, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about the woman in your house"
Frankenstein didn't know if he had to laugh at the irony or not. For Urokai to mingle with the humans, even for a small amount of time, was hard to imagine. Huh, he guessed the bastard wasn't completely off his rocker.
"Well this is really hard to digest. I wouldn't have guessed that Sara was of Agavain blood!"
Gejuntel raised an eyebrow "Not even by her appearance? Did that ring any bells? Her aura perhaps?"
"No! She doesn't even look like him! The only thing she has close to him is a light red hue in her hair barely the colour of cinnamon but nothing else! Not the Noble's eyes, his exterior, his height or his aura" he was trying to remember something that he might have missed when he found her. Did he really miss something as big as that?
"Well, it has been 400 years since the betrayal of the Clan Leaders. After so many generations of mixing human blood I wouldn't have expected her to resemble him much either"
"How is though Gejuntel, that she was able to grow these powers?" he looked at him with great tense in his shoulders "I too, have heard of half-blood children but they never show any powers, if they do they are too limited and they live a couple of decades longer than other humans but that's just it. They never develop full powers worth of mentioning and their abilities get lost in later generations. Some of them are even unable to have children" of course the one he had met once, a long time ago was a half werewolf but still it was never heard…
"You found her in the Union, no?" Gejuntel looked at him. The tone of his voice was enough for Frankenstein to understand the hint.
Of course; if they knew who to take to experiment on perhaps they were able…Could it be? That they pushed their genetic code that much? To put new things on a clean canvas was one thing but to go deep inside the DNA in order to evolve something already there…Or perhaps….he remembered when she said to him vaguely '"My abilities were not made. They were triggered to existence by an internal emotional outburst that was elicited by an external…happening"'
His eyes lightened and all the new possibilities flooded his mind. The words she used were so specific so she must have heard them many times. They didn't change her…It happened in an extreme emotional…outburst. Given the Agvain blood in her and how much emotions was connected to the clan's abilities…it was a long shot but it could be true…Still, there were many questions that had to be answered and he would get the answers he sought once he met her again.
South Korea…at Frankenstein's house…
Takeo thought that it looked okay…The hole was closed and Frankenstein's rage would be evaded. The others were tidying up the mess and Tao was already making a beeline for his computer. M-21 was looking skeptical as to what to do next. Takeo thought that even after staying in the same house for so long he still didn't know what M-21 did for fun…Did he have any fun at all? He vaguely remembered him reading some books but he had to admit that things were so tense the last years that he doubted his friend had any actual time for himself.
He stretched and got close "So M, what are you going to do now?" It was a generic question he admitted to himself now that he heard it out loud but…he had already done it so he might as well go with that.
He sighed deeply "I don't know…how wrong you think it would be if I knocked at her door?" he sounded uncertain.
"Do you think that a day's time may have calmed her down? Are you really that keen on getting more information? You know you shouldn't feel like you have to do that…"
"I know" he interrupted Takeo frustratingly "I know Takeo…The days when I felt like I should prove myself and my worth to be alive, are gone…But it's already afternoon and she hasn't come out of her room yet"
"Well you saw me, I knocked and offered her breakfast …she didn't even open the door to take it…and those pancakes were delicious, you know it"
M-21 nodded "Yes, God knows you make amazing pancakes" he tried not to comment that Takeo sounded like he was really offended that Sara didn't have a taste of his cooking "Maybe it's time I try to reason with her…"
Takeo raised an eyebrow. His question was heard even though unspoken.
"Yes, Takeo, I will really try it. Stop giving me that look"
He neared the door and gave two firm knocks. And then three more "Sara…It's…me…ermm can you open the door? I promise I won't pick up a fight; I want to talk to you"
The silence was heavy but her footsteps were light as she moved to the door after contemplating if she should make contact with him again. But she couldn't stop herself as she heard him calling her. And truth be told…she was kind of hungry.
M-21 heard her last two steps and was waiting as she was standing in the other side of the door, no doubt deciding if she would open to him. He waited and decided not to say another word until she would finally made her decision. And the door opened, and she was there standing behind it, not looking at him in the eyes.
"Come" she said and moved inside again. M-21 turned to give a look at Takeo and after he got his assuring nod he went inside with her. The nod was not only to declare that he was going in but that if he wasn't back in twenty minutes time, Takeo would come to see what was going on. It was sort of a code between them that they developed for when they had to communicate without any other mean than this.
Frankenstein…Frankenstein…
"Frankenstein!"
The human rose from his seat suddenly. He was in a trance and couldn't remember how or when it happened. He was thinking of many things but mostly of his Master. Did he really hear his Master's voice? He had been talking to Gejuntel and then looked at the room. He was in a different room than before… 'Oh that's right. Gejuntel led me to the guest chambers'
The voice sounded again though. It was from the other side of the door "Frankenstein, are you in?" It was Regis' voice.
"Yes, you may come in"
The door opened and Regis stood there in all pristine clothes and straight posture "Dinner is ready Frankenstein. Would like to join us?"
"Dinner?" he looked at the sky outside the window. It was pitch black. When did the candles light? He supposed that he did so after he got inside…It did happen to him sometimes; times where he had to rest his mind in a place that wouldn't have anything to do with his surroundings. He sometimes did things automatically. The day was getting weirder and weirder as it went. Thankfully it would be over soon. "Alright, why not?" he said as he followed the young Landegre outside his chambers.
"Word of your arrival has spread like wildfire" said Regis "so naturally there were some people who wished to see you. My grandfather was kind enough to invite them too at the dinner" in a more casual manner he shrugged "Honestly it is the most people I have seen wandering in the mansion for a long time"
'This ought to be interesting' thought Frankenstein and proceeded to walk beside Regis as they were approaching the big double door that he supposed led to the dinner area.
To be continued...
A/N: So there you have it! The name Oriken and history of the Agvain Clan were of my creation. And we have a general picture of Sara's appearance but more about that in the next chapter. I thought of Frankenstein being able to know many different hues of colours as a man of his age and a scientist.
This chapter has been a very intense one for our characters. I like exploring their feelings regarding the situation everyone is now.
Thank you to "Peaceful and Calmness" for your kind review I appreciated it a lot! ^_^
