Thank you all for the support. Just a few chapters left. I have a good idea of where I'm going with it, but there may be a sequel. Not sure yet. Again, nothing is mine. Hope you all enjoy!

Sam and Dean stood in a decrepit cemetery watching a skeleton burn. Then marker above the grave was so old that the name and dates had been erased by time.

" Man I'm glad that's over." Dean said as he watched the fire.

" Me too." said Sam " Do you think we should head back and check on the kid and his mom? You know, just to make sure they're okay?"

Dean grinned at his brother, " Sure, I can drop you off around bedtime. Tuck the kid in, and then you and mommy can have a little grown up time."

" What? No! That's not," he started.

" Hello boys."

Sam and Dean jumped and turned around. The saw Crowley standing there grinning smugly at them. " You know for two big bad hunters, you're certainly easy to scare."

" Yeah well," Dean started, " shut up."

" Brilliant come back. Been saving that one up have you?"

" What do you even want? Don't you have something else to do? Like king stuff or something?" Dean asked.

" Not really. Bit slow right now, of course I could always stir something up if you'd like. Been a little bored lately." Crowley answered as he sat down on a headstone.

" Come on, don't sit there." Sam motioned at the headstone.

" He won't mind, honestly. He's busy being tortured."

Sam rolled his eyes. " What do you want Crowley?"

" Honestly? I'm bored. Nothing to do, no uprisings in Hell. No mayhem to manage. I thought, I might tag along with you for a bit. Maybe lend a hand."

Sam and Dean looked at each other,

" What?" Crowley asked

" Well," started Sam, " It's just,"

" It's just that you don't help unless there's something in it for you. So cut the crap!" Dean told him sharply.

" Hey! I help." Crowley answered. They both just continued to stare at him. " I mean, yes in the past it was mutually beneficial for all parties involved." Neither Sam or Dean spoke. " Alright fine. I just need to take my mind off of things, and you two always seem to get in way over your heads so I thought I would give a hand."

" No way," Dean replied, " we had to babysit your girlfriend almost a year ago, and I'm not gonna babysit you too." He turned and started walking back to the car.

Sam stared at Crowley. " Have you seen her?"

" Yes. About 4 months ago. She was crying and I just wanted to comfort her, but things got out of hand," he trailed off looking away.

" So you slept with her?" Sam guessed.

" Yes," Crowley answered softly, " but after, while she was sleeping, I took her home, made her think it was a dream." He shook his head, " I just need to do something. Anything. I mean if you prefer I could raise a little Hell so to speak, fun for us all."

Sam chuckled at him. " No, no that's okay." He looked at Crowley for a moment. " Look, for what it's worth I'm sorry that it didn't work out."

" It's fine. I've got all the time in the world to get past it." He said sadly.

" Well, come on then. We got word of a shape shifter about a days drive from here." Sam told him and they walked toward the car together. " Don't worry about Dean, just don't complain about his music and get him pie. Lots and lots of pie."

Christine drove toward the hospital trying to avoid any un necessary bumps or dips in the road. Dennis was in the back with their patient. An older lady with a sore foot for about 3 months and tonight at 0312 am was when she decided she needed to get it looked at. She could hear him conversing with the woman, she was really a sweet lady and Dennis always had a knack with the older patients. She had always teased him that it was because he was the same age group. Stopping at a red light she turned to look back at him. There he was sitting on the bench seat holding her hand and laughing with her. Christine smiled and the light turned green and she continued on the the hospital.

After they had finished at the ER they were driving back to the station. Christine was still in the drivers seat, and Dennis sat in the passenger seat working on his report.

" Sally says you and Tim have been seeing each other quite often."

" Uh, yeah we've been out a few times." Christine answered him, her eyes glued to the road. She really didn't want to get into this.

" So I guess you two really hit it off?" he asked.

" Well yeah, I mean we have fun together, and we like some of the same things. So yeah, I guess we have."

" Chris, come on. This is me. Tell me the truth. You don't have to spare my feelings, if there's no spark, there's no spark."

She sighed, " Dennis it's not that. I mean Tim's cute and sweet and funny, we like a lot of the same stuff, we have fun together. It's just that," she trailed off.

" It's just that he's not Crowley and you're not ready." He told her and looked over his glasses at her. " I know that all ended badly, and I wish I could wrap my hands around his neck for hurting you."

Christine smiled, " I know. I just can't help it. I really am trying to move on, but I'm just not ready."

" Well then you need to tell that to Tim because he seems to think you two are a couple." Dennis told her.

" What? No, we've just been hanging out. We haven't even "done" anything besides a little kissing!"

" Well maybe you should talk to him because to hear Sally tell it he's very taken with you."

Christine huffed and pulled into the parking lot of the station, " I'll talk to him tomorrow at lunch."

They got out of the truck and walked back toward the crew quarters. Dennis reached out and grabbed her shoulder," Hey," He said to her, " I just want you to be okay. I told Sally you weren't ready for this but she seems to think that the best thing for a broken heart is to get right back out there. Now if you ask me, you fell pretty quick for him, and I think it was pretty hard too. Things like that take time to get over, so you just do what you need to do. Okay?"

Christine just wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his chest. He hugged her to him, " Hey, it's okay. I'm always here for you, so is Sally. She just wanted to help. "

Chris looked up at him. Tears were in her eyes. " I know, I know she does, but I just can't right now. I just can't. " and she started sobbing again. Dennis just held her there for a few minutes. She let go of him and wiped her eyes. " Sorry, " she said.

" Don't worry about it kiddo. It's what I'm here for." He wrapped his arm around her and they walked inside.

Sam and Dean sat in a bar in a small town in Washington. Sam and Dean were having a drink while Crowley was scamming some locals at a pool game.

" I swear guys I've never played before. I've literally never picked up a stick." He held his hands up innocently. " Really! Beginners luck! " he said as he picked up the money laying on the table. " But here, let me buy you a drink. " He said and handed the two men a 20 dollar bill from the stack. The two men actually said thank you and walked away.

Crowley made his way back over to Dean and Sam and handed them the stack of bills. " Here you are, my contribution to our little company."

Dean picked the money up off the table. " What did you do? Use a little demon dust on them to keep them from kicking your ass?"

Crowley picked up his glass and took a drink, he swallowed and said, " Don't need to, it's the accent. It's a proven fact that the British accent is the most liked accent overall. " he told them. Just then a tall red head walked up and asked if they needed anything else.

" How about another drink? " Dean asked, offering her his best smile.

She smiled back at him, but mostly blew him off " Sure, and for you two?" she asked looking at Sam and Crowley.

Sam just smiled and shook his head, " I'm good."

Crowley whispered low to Sam, " Watch this. I would love another drink, and I would also love to know what time you get off? Or maybe I could buy you a drink now?" He asked and smiled at her.

" Oh my gosh are you from England? I just love that accent." she said putting her hand on his shoulder. " You know I'm really not supposed to drink with the customers but I have a break in about 15 minutes. I'll bring your friends drink and you could meet me at the bar?"

Crowley looked at his watch. " 15 minutes, I'll see you then."

She smiled at him and walked away to get Deans drink. " Did I mention the British accent is also the sexiest according to most American women?"

" You know, I let you come with us because I felt sorry for you. So don't sit there and act all smug like you're actually gonna do anything more than buy her a drink."

"Dean calm down." Sam told him. " He's just messing with you."

" I'm tired of him messing with me. Now, has he been helpful? Yeah, but he needs to get his head out of his ass and back to Colorado. There's a gorgeous woman there who thinks the sun rises and sets on you and here you sit ruining my Saturday night! " Dean said and he stormed out.

Sam looked at Crowley. " I talked to her last week, you know. We keep in touch, just to make sure everything's okay. "

Crowley downed what was left of his drink. " How is she?" he asked quietly.

Sam shook his head, " She's good. She misses you. She even asked about you last time we talked. Asked if I had seen you. Didn't have the heart to tell her you were in the same room with me."

" It's better this way. If she was ever hurt because of me,"

" She's already hurt because of you. Look, I don't know if I should even tell you this but she's been seeing someone. She told me she's not really ready to date but she's trying. So take some advice, if you love her, be with her. Protect her, like I know you can. Because if you don't she's going to be ready to date and someone is gonna come along and take her away." Sam told him

" I know." Crowley said and looked at his empty glass, and glanced toward the bar where the red head was smiling at him. " I've got a drink to buy, excuse me." and he got up and made his way over to the woman waiting for him.

Sam watched him walk up to the woman and she got them both drinks. Crowley pulled out a roll of bills and paid, for good measure he put what looked to be a 100 dollar bill in the tip jar. The red head smiled and touched his arm, Crowley leaned over and whispered something in her ear. She laughed again and took him by the hand and led him toward the front door. Crowley slowed when he got to the table Sam was sitting at. He sat a full drink in front of him and said " Don't wait up, I'll be back in the morning.. Valerie here is going to show me around town." She smiled at Sam.

" Really?!"Sam asked, " are you serious?"

Crowley glowered at him and said " You said it yourself. Moving on. Lead the way darling. The night is waiting." And she led him out the front door.

Dean got back to the table just in time to see her pull Crowley out of the front door. " Are you freaking kidding me?! He's gotta go Sam."

"Why? Because he got lucky and you didn't?" Sam said as he laughed.

" He didn't get lucky, I'm tellin ya he probably worked some demon mojo on her."

"Well if he didn't, I'm sure he's going to."

"And now I'm just gonna be sick." Dean said. Sam just laughed at him, but truthfully he was worried about Crowley. He'd come to actually like him, and he felt like he was just being stupid about the whole Christine thing.

" He came in pretty handy last week with those demons." He reminded Dean.

"Only because he is one!" Dean told Sam. " Yeah it was nice him just telling them to leave and they did, but the guy is always blocking my game with the ladies! I don't even think he wants to have sex with them, I think he does it just to bug me."

Sam got up to leave, " Yeah, you're probably right. Look, we need to figure out how to get him back with Christine or I foresee a lot of nights hanging out with me."

Dean followed him out of the bar, " Yeah, lets get on that. Like yesterday!"

Crowley sat in a chair next to the bed where Valerie slept. The sheet draped over her nude body, she was beautiful, but his eyes still saw only Christine. He thought maybe sleeping with her would help, but it didn't. It just made him crave her even more. When he touched Valerie it was Christine he felt beneath his hands, her lips that he caressed. It was her voice calling out to him.

Valerie began to stir and Crowley disappeared from the room. He didn't want to have anything more to do with her. He actually felt sick to his stomach that he thought he could just replace her with some random woman. He reappeared in the hotel room with Sam and Dean. They were both still sleeping. He walked over and nudged Sam

" Wake up." he whispered.

Sam opened his eyes slowly. " What? What is it?"

" Come with me." He stated calmly and left the room

Sam got out of bed and got dressed. He walked out into the daylight squinting, looking around for Crowley. He saw him perched on the hood of Deans car.

" Better not let Dean catch you there."

Crowley shook his head, " Not scared."

" Look it's like the buttcrack of dawn here. What's up?"

" I think I want to see Christine."

" Then see her." Sam told him, slightly irritated.

" Is this what it feels like to be human? It's been so long I can't remember. I want so badly to do the right thing, but I'm selfish, and all I can think of is seeing her. I think this grace that I have inside me is fighting with the demon. It's like a constant battle. Did you know that I've been summoned 3 times in the past week and I've ignored them all? I never was able to do that before. Now, I could care less. What's happening to me Sam?"

" I don't know what exactly is going on inside of you, but it sounds like you found something you want more than being the high and mighty King of Hell. You know, you could just stop. Who said you have to do it anyway?"

" I'm a demon Sam, it's what I am. "

" Not anymore." Sam told him." You're something totally new. Something the world has never even seen before, you're not a demon or an angel. You're both, something unique. Who says you have to be some evil demon or some self righteous angel. You don't have to be anything you don't want to be. "

Crowley sat and looked at Sam like he had just been hit by lightning." What would I be if not King of Hell, I've worked so long and hard for it. "

" And honestly, how much do you like it? Let someone else do it. "

" What would I do with myself? Get a job? " Crowley scoffed.

" You could do whatever you want, I'm pretty sure you're the most powerful being on the planet. At least the most powerful we've ever come across. You can't be summoned, you can't be killed with the colt or the knife. Demon traps can't hold you. None of the enochian symbols affect you. Seems to be the only thing that might be able to stop you is an angels blade, and those aren't exactly lying around for anyone to pick up."

Crowley sat staring at him. It couldn't be that easy could it? Just don't be King? Was that even an option? Without him Hell would erupt into chaos, well, it always was in chaos in some form. " Just walk away?"

" Why not? Hell's always going to be there. Take a break. Have a life, a good one. As far as something to do, help us. There's always an apocalypse out there just waiting. You know that."

" I want my own car." Crowley told him.

Sam laughed, and reached out to shake his hand. " I'm happy for you, if you're serious."

" I am. I want to be with Christine, and like you said, Hell will always be there." Crowley told him as he shook his hand.

" Go get your girl." Sam told him, and Crowley disappeared from sight.
