HEATHERTAIL
A few weeks had gone by since Heathertail's senior year had begun. It was going very well so far as her and her boyfriend, Lionblaze, had immediately become king and queen of the school. Popularity was a big deal in Heathertail's eyes. In order to be popular, you had to be pretty and have lots of friends. The gang was a big help in Heathertail's ranking at Master's Academy although many of them were slipping away. Many of them had told Heathertail that she was changing and was becoming mean. Heathertail didn't see it that way. I'm simply giving the little kids advice. Even her boyfriend, Lionblaze, had been slipping away from her. Heathertail had caught Cinderheart staring at Lionblaze with more than friendship glinting in her eyes. Cinderheart used to be one of Heathertail's closer friends but that too was quickly fading. Last week when the small shy kid Ice-something? was getting bullied in the cafeteria, Lionblaze had gone over to help. Oh no Lionblaze. Don't bother helping that pathetic excuse for a girl. But before she could say that, Lionblaze had already stood and walked over. He returned as a hero so Heathertail didn't waste a moment and leaned forward, pulling Lionblaze into a deep and very long kiss. She glanced over and saw Cinderheart staring at them with a mixture of sadness and jealousy coating her gaze. Later on, Heathertail noticed Ice-something staring at Lionblaze as well. Why can't these girls leave my boyfriend alone!?
Two weeks after the cafeteria incident (Heathertail had learned the girl's name was Icecloud by now) strange things began happening around the school. A man dressed in all black and sunglasses was standing at the entrance to every classroom muttering something into a voice recorder. Students would stare at them as them as they entered the classrooms. One time, Heathertail and Breezepelt stopped to try and listen to what the strange men were saying but all the heard was "it's almost ready" before the man stared at them with such a frightening look that both of the WindDorm students hurried into their class. "What the hell could 'it's almost ready' mean?" Heathertail whispered to Breezepelt. Breezepelt and her had become pretty good friends over the past few years and he was one person who didn't criticize the way she was changing. Breezepelt looked over at her and shrugged, trying to look like he didn't care but Heathertail spotted worry masked behind his tough expression.
The gang gathered in Cinderheart and Hollyleaf's dorm that night. When they walked in, Heathertail gaped at all their childish belongings. Hollyleaf had forest green sheets which were fun and nice when the girls were 10, but now that they were all 17, green sheets were pretty lame. Cinderheart wasn't much better with all her silver stuff, but it wasn't super bad. A new boy was sitting on Hollyleaf's bed who was also in ThunderDorm. Hollyleaf introduced the boy as Fallen Leaves. What a strange name… Heathertail didn't notice much about the boy, but it was obvious Hollyleaf had a bit of a crush. Once the group had settled down, Heathertail decided that the rest of the group should know what Breezepelt and her heard earlier. It seems important. "Alright guys, I think you should know about this…" She told them all about the encounter she and Breezepelt had and surprisingly, some of the other kids nodded. "It sounds like something bad is going on here" Tigerheart said thoughtfully. Heathertail rolled her eyes. There's obviously something bad going on, we're just wondering what! Sometimes Tigerheart can be just as dense as Lionblaze. Before she could say anything however, Dovewing cut her off. "Yeah there certainly is, the other day he pulled me aside and asked for mine and Ivypool's names." "That's so strange. We all need to stick together and stay on the lookout." Hollyleaf proclaimed picking up Fallen Leaves' hand and squeezing it. Eww gross. Heathertail thought. Lionblaze and I never make that much of a performance.
The situation grew worse and worse the next few days. Heathertail started noticing the guards inside the classrooms giving teachers 'tips' on their teaching styles. A couple student teachers got fired as well. I bet the strange men were the ones behind that. The men filled Heathertail's mind for every second of the day and she actually forgot about her situation with Lionblaze. She realized she had started ignoring him and felt a pang of guilt. When she went up to try and apologize, things had become worse than she thought. "Hey Lionblaze, what's up?" Lionblaze didn't answer but simply stalked off towards Tigerheart who gave her a glare as his friend approached. Heathertail heart fell as she realized her relationship might never be the same again ever. She spotted Cinderheart watching her and Lionblaze and saw nothing on her face, but the slightest smirk only visible in her eyes. The sadness that clenched in Heathertail's throat disappeared and was immediately replaced with jealousy. Heathertail whipped around, hoping her hair and stung someone in the face and marched off towards her dorm.
That's it for chapter 8! Something is finally happening at the school and I'm so excited to keep writing! See you soon! (Next chapter will probably be Lionblaze's POV)
