Both Skye and her rescuer kept staring at each other, She still was still too far into shock to say or do anything as the chihuahua still had his paw extended out into a friendly manner to help her. Even though he just saved her, he felt like somehow he had rubbed her the wrong way for some reason. Skye was shaking as she still was staring into his brown eyes.
"Miss?" He asked again, but now, Skye lifted her paw and connect hers with his. He then pulled her up to let her stand on her four paws, still continuing to focus on the chihuahua's eyes.
"So I guess I should introduce myself then, I'm Tracker," He said as he lowered the buttstock of his shotgun to touch the ground, Skye returned smiled and returned the favor.
"I'm Skye. Thank you so much for saving me," She expressed to him.
"I can tell you're not from around here," Tracker exclaimed as he looked at her closer at her as by looking at her appearance, she wasn't your average Neutral Zone gal.
"What gave that away?" She was taken back from this claim, she wasn't offended, but just surprised he could guess correctly like that.
"Well, you're a female, walking alone and not even carrying a weapon to defend yourself," He stated, he was right and Skye agreed that she should have at least had a small knife to have in a place like this with other people around committing crimes.
"Now that you say it, it does sound like I'm asking for trouble when you put it like that," She rubbed the back of her neck as a pink blush of embarrassment flashed across her muzzle. Tracker smiled at her cuteness and innocence.
"So what's a beautiful flower-like you doing out this late anyway?" Tracker smirked, making a flirty smile and brushing off a small line of dirt from Skye's muzzle.
"Sorry, I have a boyfriend," She said, letting the chihuahua down a little.
"Ey, can't blame a guy for trying I guess," Tracker said in a humorous way as he shrugged with a smile at Skye.
"I'm just going to the motel on the other side of the town," She explained to Tracker as she began to walk back over and pick back up the money she had thrown at the two muggers earlier. Tracker knew that letting her walk back alone would repeat her unfortunate scenario. So he offered his assistance and company.
"Need me to come along with you?" He offered. Skye thought about it for a while before nodding in approval. Skye stuck to Tracker like glue and didn't leave his side as they began to walk down the sidewalk to the other side of the town. Tracker had his shotgun strapped to his side just in case more trouble was around the corner.
"You know if you want, you could stay with me if it makes you feel safer," Tracker offered again with a smile.
"Thank you for the offer, really, but I just don't trust you, no offense," She replied, hoping not to make Tracker think she didn't like him or didn't appreciate what he did when he saved her from those two canines.
"Understood, I wouldn't trust a mysterious guy with a shotgun that lives in the Neutral Zona either," He joked as they were still walking down the sidewalk to where Skye was going to stay for the night.
Back in Alaska where the snow was as far as the eye could see. The alarm was being blared across the camp yet again. Someone had escaped from Camp Anchorage and once again the task force of trained soldiers came to play. Everest had her gear on and ran into the freezing cold to find the runaway. Of course with her being a dog and having four legs, she was ahead of the group. A helicopter was seen circling above the snowy plains trying to assist the team by using FLIR vision. Everest could be seen heading North where the person was last reported. Everest could make out a large slim figure running away going from East to West. Without hesitation, Everest took aim and fired 2 rounds at the assume runaway before the person fell over and ran North, away from Everest. The Huskey surely followed and came and looked at a large patch of red-stained snow.
Everest had stopped and looked ahead and saw a small patch of red-colored snow she was stepping in. Everest put her combat rifle down to take a better look at the stained snow. She looked ahead to see small drops of red snow led to a small forest. She wasted no time and took off into the direction to fetch the convict she had now wounded.
"I'm picking something up on thermal. Something is leaning against a tree near a river," Everest had received a notification from the helicopter that was circling from above.
"Copy that," She confirmed that location as she was following the blood trail to a small arrangement of trees that lost their leaves from the snowy element. Everest tried to drain out the overwhelming and constant falling snow. She closed her eyes and tried to control her breathing to try and hear her other surroundings better. She stood still and calmed her breathing even though she was freezing cold and tried to focus. Everest could hear the rough current of water running from her Northeast side. Remembering the location of the convict being near a river, Everest ran before almost tumbling down and cliff and seeing the river. It was a very small river, most of it was ice which just proves Everest's incredible senses. From Everest's right side, she saw something leaning against a tree. She raised her combat rifle and tread carefully.
When closer, Everest could see it was the runaway. The person's red-stained clothing was tattered just like the other lines of apparel the others wore in the camp. The person which was identified as a woman was showing no emotion as her eyes were still open, but still, didn't react to the Huskey pointed the combat rifle in her face. Everest rests her rifle around her sling to inspect the body more. In the dead woman's hand was a large blanket which the Huskey question in her mind. As she began to look more into the woman's eyes for any sign of life. The rest of the team started to show up with the guns drawn, still on alert.
"Scharführer Everest, good work," One of the Unit members said as he kneels down to look at the body for himself.
"Get her medical attention, then get bac-" He started to give a command before being interrupted by the pilot in the helicopter.
"Taskforce, I'm picking up another heat signature near you, it's running to a mountain, northwest of your location," The pilot radioed in the newfound location.
"You there go get catch the other one, the others and I will tend to this one," The task force member said. Everest was the select few that were told to run after the newfound target. Everest gave a salute before racing off in the given direction to catch the new runaway. The other two members that were told go with Everest also gave chase.
Everest could make out the canine-like small figure running in between tree to tree, it was hard to keep up with the person's fast pace. Everest's paws were starting to grow tired and almost give out from the excessive movement from the left to right. It also wasn't helping that the amount of gear she was carrying made it even worse on her, but the Huskey kept pushing forward until a mountain came into clear view. The runaway seemed to use the mountain to their advantage as they started to climb from rock to rock trying not to slip. Everest wasn't that experience in climbing, but that wasn't going to stop her from doing her duty. Her other task force members came to the scene to see Everest climbing the high mountain. By this time, the convict had already reached the top and was now out of sight.
"GET BACK HERE!" Everest growled as she tried to pick up the pace with her climbing, it was very worrying since one wrong move or unstable rock could mean her falling back down to earth and breaking a number of important and vital bones. Putting one paw above the other and pulling herself up was the only thing she could do, she almost slipped on a loose rock but was able to regain herself from it.
"Scharführer Everest, I lost eyes with the convict, it managed to slip into a cave," The pilot told Everest as she was trying not to slip up and fall.
"Copy that," She responded as she finally pulled herself up and reached the top. She looked around and saw the rough terrain she was treading on. Everest pulled out her combat rifle and began to look for the cave, it wasn't that hard to find as she kept walking and saw the large rocky dark entrance to the cave system. Everest activates the flashlight attachment on her rifle and began to walk slowly into the cave. Water was dripping from the ceiling of the cave on her. Everest shined the light above to all see a large colony of bats hanging upside down. As the brick light shined in their eyes, they started to wake up and fly toward Everest in their large wave. The Bats swarmed her and Everest started to stumble backward to get away from them.
She tried to swat away the bats that were now getting violent, she continued to stumble backward unfortunately into a hole which led down to a deeper cave. Everest's falling down the steep spiky cave was incredibly painful and she kept landing on sharp rocky which felt like she was getting stabbed all over her body. All the equipment that was strapped to her body was getting lose and some of it fell off and started to roll down the steep cave with her.
Finally, the rocky slope came to an end and Everest's body tumbled and rolled, hitting against a cave wall that hurt her back even more. Everest groaned before struggling to get back up. As she got back up, she realized there was no more light in the cave. She must have dropped her combat rifle when the bats were swarming her. Everest began to look around the pile of Equipment that fell down with her and was able to retrieve a small glow stick. She violently bent the glow stick before reach to the thigh of her right hind leg to pull out her sidearm pistol.
"Central Command, I'm injured, have a medical staff on stand by near the mountain," She said in her earpiece, But she heard nothing back. Only static.
"Central Command, can you hear me?" She asked out back for a response, but still nothing. She was so far and deep into the cave that her communication line wasn't working anymore. Never the less, she continued her search before coming face to face with the escapee. It was a small pup in ragged clothing trying to hide in a small corner of the end of the cave. Everest didn't expect just a pup to be escaping and running away. All of Everest's training would tell her not to let her guard down and bring the pup back in. But she couldn't, the male pup didn't speak as he was too afraid and he was autistic. Everest holstered her pistol and slowly approached the young frightened pup who seemed to a little bit slow in the brain.
As Everest slowly made her way to him, he started to back away a little bit as he was still very scared of her. Everest tried to show no evidence of her being a threat, but the pup was still scared. She extended out her paws to the pup inviting him for a hug. The pup just stared before walking over wrapping his paws around her. He then began to cry into her fur but made the Huskey's heart melt. Everest couldn't believe what she was doing, she was being kind to the ones she was supposed to hate in her line of work.
The pup continued to cry onto Everest's tactical uniform, Everest just rubbed the back of the pup's head in an assuring way to say 'everything was going to be alright'. Unfortunately, it wasn't going to be.
"Scharführer Everest, are you down there, did you find the runaway?!" Everest heard the voice of one of the task force members. His voice echoed and came from the entrance to the hole Everest had fallen down. Everest felt a cold shiver run down her spine as she was now fearing for the little pup's security. The pup wasn't oblivious to this as he backed to shake from his fear, he then looked at Everest with his eyes still watery and running. Everest wasn't one to read the facial language, but she knew the pup didn't want to go back to the camp. Everest separated herself from the pup and got back up to answer her teammate.
"Negative, they must have escaped through another part in the cave!" She shouted back to her as she walked back to start making her way back up to them. She looked back at the pup was still scared, the pup didn't want to leave her, and to be honest, she didn't want to leave him too, But if she led the pup out of the cave, he would be spotted and taken back on sight. Everest had no choice but to just leave him and hope for the best. Everest took back all her equipment that was on the cave floor and made the way back up the hole.
Back in Roswell with the search for Marshall still going on. It was night outside with the singular start still glimmering. At the Milkshake Diner, Rubble was usually the one to last leave as he was given more responsibility by the owner. Since he was the last to leave, he was the one to lock up the front and back door. Rubble was seen hanging up his bright-colored apron on a coat hanger near the front counter. This was quite routine to the English Bulldog as he did all the tasks in a joyful mood and a skip in his step.
Rubble walked out the front door and turned back, closing it and inserting a key into the lock to secure the entrance. Rubble twisted the metal lock and push it up, locking it. Rubble turned back around and began to make his way back to his parent's house which is where he was staying. Suddenly, a black car pulled into the parking lot. Rubble thought these were people that were just coming in late for a milkshake or quick sweet, but when the vehicle doors opened and out came two men, dark trench coats and suits, dark shades, and serious looks on their faces, he knew something was wrong. The two looked at Rubble for a few seconds then walked over to him.
"Open the doors, now," One of them as they got close to Rubble. He began to get scared by the sudden command.
"W-What?" Is all he said, the other man in the black stepped up as if correcting what his colleague had said to him.
"Excuse him, we are part of the Schutzstaffel and we are conducting an investigation into the Dalmation Fugitive and we need to review the security video of this diner," The other said in a much more friendly tone. Rubble didn't really understand what this was all about, but he wasn't allowed to let them fulfill what they came here for.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let anyone in unless a say-so from the Manager," One of the store policies was that no one goes in after closing hours and Rubble stuck to that policy like glue.
"As you can tell we aren't normal customers and we are conducting an investigation. I'm sure your boss would understand that," He responded, knowing that this conversation was going to turn into an argument.
"Maybe so, but I need to confirm with him tomorrow," Rubble stated.
"We don't have until tomorrow, it's now,"
"But I can't, it's store policy," Rubble said as he blocked the front door even though it was already locked. The SS Officer was now getting irritated before the man could speak again. The other SS Officer stepped in.
"Understandable, we shall leave, have a good day," He said, Rubble now knowing that they had come to an understanding. Rubble nodded and walked past them to continue his journey back home. Sudden, the same SS officer that had wished him farewell pulled out his service pistol, and shot Rubble in the back of the head. The English Bulldog's body fell to the ground as the blood was starting to drip out. He then walked over to Rubble's body and shot him two more before reaching into his paw and grabbing the keys to the front door.
"Alright, we got it, now let's get in and get those tapes," he said coldly after committing murder.
"You didn't have to kill him you know, I could have talked him into letting us in," The other Schutzstaffel claimed as the other was already beginning to open the front door.
"That's time we don't have, now stop bitching about it and help me search for the tape," He said as he clicked the lock and pushed open the front door. The other followed along behind him and they both searched through the diner. They had searched the front before searching the back and finding a small PC that was hooked up to the CCTV camera. With the monitor found, the agents looked through the tape and found Marshall on the cameras as expected, but they caught something else.
"Hey, isn't that cockapoo is the Luftwaffe fleet?" One of them said pointing out Skye on the camera feed. It was all too real to them, now they knew Skye had been working with Marshall and had defected.
