Chapter Eight – First Encounters

"This is the school you'll be attending."

"I can see that."

The school campus was rather large.

It was surrounded by a high, brick fence and had a black gate in the front. Yet, this was a public school!

"Wow," He whistled, "classy."

"Oh, Stephen, I'm not going to be here today, or at home; my class has a field trip to Fukuoka. But I would normally be in your first period."

"Okay, no worries; have fun!"

"Alright, I'll see you in a while, oh, and, watch out for Monika!" She called back to him, already leaving heading towards the bus loading zone.

"Monika? Who's that?"

"You'll see!"

First Period –

"Ah, school; the hellhole on Earth." He sighed, looking around the classroom.

He noticed some curious faces, most likely looking at him since he was a foreigner, and an American no less.

Suddenly, the door opened to the classroom.

"Konnichiwa!" The teacher called out, looking amongst his students.

"Konnichiwa!" The students called back. Stephen was late on this; he wasn't used to greetings; in America, only substitutes would bother to greet students, or teachers on the first day.

"I hope you've all realized," the teacher said, once he was done placing down his books, "we have a transfer student. And if you didn't, what the hell's wrong with you?"

Everyone looked to Stephen, "Um, hi?"

"Can I ask each of you right now, to be extremely nice to Almen – san, or else America will bomb us again." He said in a strangely serious tone.

The students nodded.

"Hey, that's a serious subject; don't joke about it!" Stephen said in English instinctively.

Everyone moved their chairs away from him.

He sighed.

"Ah sh*t."

Second Period –

Stephen managed to obtain a seat in the second row, in the middle of the columns in both first and second periods.

Score!

This time, he saw someone in the back of the classroom; they gave him chills.

"Uh, creeps me out." He said to himself. "Oh, well, she is hot though." He admired the tall girl with light purple hair once more before turning his head back around to refocus.

Third Period –

"Oh, jeez, is that the same girl from before?" Stephen had his eyes locked with someone else far behind him, "Oh, no, this girl has . . . pink hair? Oh my God, this is an anime now. She must be the 'tsundere' type . . . I love this."

Fourth Period –

"Huh, this one's kind of hot – I mean," he suddenly became very shaky, imagining what Alicia would say, "No, stay true Stephen. Remember, Alicia is your one and only."

He stopped sneaking glances at the girl with a red bow in her hair and began to focus again.

The girl, though, began sneaking glances at him.

He was now very sweaty, wondering what he should do.

Why was I looking at her, I should've stopped, is this revenge?

Lunch –

"Hey!"

"Gah!" He said with a German accent, "What?"

It was the girl, oh God.

"I . . . saw you were curious about the Literature Club posters behind me," Is this girl stupid? "And I was wondering if you're interested."

. . . Huh?

"Um, well, actually," Don't say it, God don't say it! She'll know you were looking at her! "Well, yeah! Of course, yes, I was!" He said in Japanese to match her.

"Oh, great! Um, club meetings start at four o' clock and run till six in room 244, thank you!" She said nervously, holding her bento box in front of her while skipping away.

Weird ass.

Fifth Period –

"Whew, almost over; it may be school in another country, but this is still school." He sighed, "And what do I do with that girl I was looking at? Shit, I bet she's going to be expecting me to go now. Oh, I really screwed myself over."

Sixth Period –

As he walked into the classroom, he noticed all the boys huddled around a desk. Then, he noticed a bunch of pouting girls with their arms crossed, sitting at their seats.

He walked over curiously to the mosh pit and asked one, "Hey, what are you doing?"

"Huh? Oh, it's Monika." The boy gave him a dismissive wave.

Monika? Oh, the girl Emily told me to watch out for.

He turned to go take his seat as he heard someone say, "Wait, Stephen!" He stopped, then turned.

The boys were in shock as they saw the most beautiful girl in school stand up and acknowledge him.

"Uh, yes?"

"Thank you." Was all she said before sitting back down.

". . . You're . . . welcome?" He slowly and awkwardly turned and headed back to his designated seat, plopping down and removing his supplies. Now, the boys were huddled around his desk.

"What did you do?"

"Monika wouldn't say 'thank you' to a new student."

"Well, she might, she is really generous."

"Oh, and thoughtful."

"And gracious."

. . .

Slowly, the group began to migrate to the back of the classroom to argue about Monika's best attributes.

Stephen turned in his seat to see Monika with a warm and heartful smile, leaning forward on her desk with her hands holding up her head.

"Oh. My. God. She is hot." He muttered. "No, Alicia, my true love. I will always love you."

After turning around, Monika secretly frowned at her not gotten attention from Stephen. Yet, she couldn't decide to be happy or sad, since he was joining her club.

Author's Note:

Is that long enough? I wrote this today; oh God was this tedious to reread.

Also, I would like to clarify, I don't think I'll have Monika be self – aware or make her have powers, well, maybe; those powers would be used to do some fun stuff though, nothing creepy or scary.

Anyways, hope you all liked this longer entry, until next time,
