Chapter 8: Power Plant Battle.
Erick and Petra woke up to the sound of scurrying footsteps, a couple minutes of shuffling around before Myson poked his head through the tent, thankfully, both of them were able to get out in that time, and Erick was able to make it seem like he was packing the bag up.
"Ah, good morning," the knight said. "I see you're doing well Lord Heart."
"Lord?" Erick muttered.
"That is how the knights are addressed." Petra said. "Well...at least...that's how most people like to address them."
Myson looked at Petra, and instantly frowned. "I say, Princess Petra, your dress!"
"It's my traveling dress!" Petra snapped back, brushing a bit of dirt off the skirt of her dress.
"Well...alright...just make sure you are taking care of yourself. We don't need the public seeing you like that."
"Hang on...weren't you supposed to be following us at a distance? Were you just going to poke your head into a random tent?"
"Technically no," Myson replied. "But, when I heard the scurrying, I figured I'd check it out, just in case someone was having a problem."
Petra seemed less than thrilled about this as she picked Ares up as Erick finished putting the tent back in his bag.
"Alright then," the Princess sighed, "Let's go on then, and Myson, please do not let me see you unless I'm getting kidnapped, and Erick is defeated, understand?"
"Yes, Princess Petra." Myson saluted.
Erick and Petra continued onwards, waiting and checking back every so often to make sure Myson was out of view, when they got to the entrance way between the Route and Virbank, the passerby guard signaled them over. He immediately took one look at Petra, and then waved them through.
The two walked out on the other side and Erick immediately realized why Cheren had told him to be cautious as Petra let out a loud hiss. The sky was a bit darker than usual, and you could see smoke billowing out of power plants down south, in addition, it didn't take long before some punk biker looking guy came up to them.
"Ay yo, you there," he said, eying Petra's tiara, "Hand over that jewelry, if ya know what's good for ya. A pretty lil lady such as yerself is in fer a real issue over in these parts."
Erick opened his mouth to protest before Petra jumped in calmly.
"I thank you for your concern," she replied. "But I'm afraid that won't be necessary," then, to Erick's great surprise, she took off her tiara and handed it to the man, who scanned it over, his eyes widened a little when he looked at the inside ring, he nervously looked at Erick, then he handed it back to her.
"Please accept my gracious apologies." the man said quickly. "I was just worried about you…it was not my intention to steal."
"I can understand," Petra replied, doing a little curtsey. "Now, would you be so kind as to point us to the power plant?"
"Yes, of course, it's just down south of here."
Petra smiled and took Erick's hand, guiding him down towards the large complex looking powerplant. He could see metal bars and silos of smoke.
"What was that about?" he asked curiously.
"Well, if you saw the princess just casually walk into town, you'd think twice before trying to steal from her." Pera replied. "Only a fool would do that."
"I suppose that's cool." Erick replied. "Makes my job just a little bit easier in that regard."
The two of them arrived at the entrance, where Erick immediately took notice of another girl sitting on the outside, she too had an Eevee, though it was a brown one. She had short brown hair and she wore a white T-shirt with a heart on it, as well as a pink skirt that went down to her knees. She had dark eyes that Erick couldn't tell if they were green or black.
"Great Navi!" the girl said, as the Eevee tackled an Elekid, the yellow plug Pokemon fell to the ground as she tossed the Poke ball at it. The ball dinged shut as she picked it up. "We got it!"
"Nice job!" Erick called over. The girl looked over and, with a raised eyebrow, walked up to them.
"Hello," she said, doing a small curtsey. "My name is Cassidy."
"Name's Erick," Erick replied, "And this is-"
"Princess Petra, I know." Cassidy replied. "I suppose you must be a Plasma Knight in that case? Though, you don't look much older than me…"
"Indeed," Petra replied. "He is a Knight-in-training."
"Ah, I see…" Cassidy replied. "Are you also a trainer?"
"On a journey in fact," Erick replied. "I'm on the League Challenge while I work out my apprenticeship details with Professor Juniper."
Cassidy gave a smile, as she tilted her head. "Interesting," she replied. "I suppose you'll want to take on Roxie, she's the Gym Leader around here, she uses Poison types. If so, you can find a couple of steel or poison types here, like Magnemite, Klink, and Koffing."
"Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to look for one in that case." Erick replied. "I guess I'll see you at the league."
"Well…" Cassidy giggled, "Would you care for a triple battle?"
"A triple battle?" Erick asked, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, I'd be glad to."
"Are you sure?" Petra asked, startled. "You've never battled in one?"
"We had a few at school, wasn't my best battle style, but I can do it."
"That's great!" Cassidy said. "Now, let's fight! Navi, you can go in the middle!"
The brown Eevee walked out in front, then, she took two Pokeballs out of her pink handbag purse and tossed them up.
"Stamps, Jack, show your style!"
A tall dark blue otter with double scalchops landed on the ground in front of them, and a small, fluffy green circled bat with a heart eye and single triangle tooth developed in front of them. It flapped its wings in front of them as it stayed up in the air.
"Dewott and Woobat." Erick observed. He took out Trinity's love ball and released her, placing her next to him.
"Do mind if my Toxel watches? She's new, so I want to prepare her."
"Not at all,"
"Alright, Sunny, take the center." Erick said. "Nagini, Slippy, Cut through!"
The Poliwhirl and Snivy joined Snowy on opposite sides. Each of them braced themselves for a battle.
Petra smiled as she listened to the Pokemon greet each other.
"Guide us well Cassidy." Navi said.
"We won't be defeated." Stamps laughed.
"I am thou," Jack replied, drawing a scalchop.
"We will prevail." Sunny growled.
"At the ready." Slippy said
"I'm ready to grow." Nagini said, brushing her V-collar.
"Alright, then," Cassidy said. "Let's target their weaknesses. Jack, fury cutter! Stamps, use Heart Stamp, Navi, use Swift for coverage!"
"Counterstrike!" Erick swiped his hand to the side. "Slippy, Ice Punch, Sunny, use Swift, and Nagini, Leaf Blade!"
Both Eevee's summoned a wave of stars as they collided and exploded into shades of dust. Nagini's tail grew and transformed into more of a sword as she made swift strikes against Jack's swift Fury Cutters with his paws. Both starter Pokemon clanged against each other, however, it was clear to Erick that Jack, since he was evolved, was winning in terms of strenght.
"We can pull our strength," Erick replied as Slippy punched Stamps backwards. "Slippy, Bubble,"
Slippy launched a barrage of bubbles that floated out, hitting Stamps and Navi.
"Take our opportunity, Navi, recover, then use Headbutt!"
"Roll and bite!"
Sunny rolled out of the way as Navi attempted to strike and bit her tail. Navi let out a cry, which directed Jack to unleash a swift down leg sweep to hit Nagini up before swiftly moving and slashing through Sunny with a heavy hit of Razor Shell.
"Slippy, come in and Hypnotize!"
Slippy jumped down as Nagini quickly grabbed onto Jack with her vines, holding him in place as Slippy's body started swirling, the Dewott's eyes grew heavy and droopy as it started to slump to the side.
"Air Slash Stamps!"
Woobat's wings flashed a turquoise color as she flapped out two blasts of sharp edged wings that came flying down. Nagini jumped up before the wind could strike her down.
Navi launched a quick swift cover to cover it's asleep teammate, the stars blasted the three Pokemon back, then, Stamps's eyes flashed pink as she slammed into Nagini, leaving a bit of an imprint as she pushed the grass snake back.
"Slippy, Wake Up Slap!"
Slippy gave off six quick slaps before unleashing a powerful punch, Jack woke up as he skidded to the ground.
"Sunny, Nagini, Helping hand and Leaf Tornado!"
Nagini generated a large tornado of sharp leaves that twirled around at a swift pace, Sunny placed his paw on the snake's side and an orange light flared up around her. The light went around into the Tornado, which spun much faster, Nagini fired the tornado, sweeping up Cassidy's three Pokemon, all three Pokemon were flung from the tornado and fell to the ground with swirls in their eyes.
Nagini suddenly began to glow as her body expanded ever so slightly, on her lower body towards her tail, two more sharp leaves propped up her arms grew out a little and she grew a leaf between her eyes.
Erick looked down at his Pokedex:
Pokemon #469: Servine; The Grass Sanke Pokemon,
It moves along the ground as if sliding. Its swift movements befuddle its foes, and it then attacks with a vine whip.
Cassidy grinned as she returned her Pokemon. "Well done, you certainly are a tough opponent." she giggled. "And you even have less badges than me...let's do this again sometime."
Erick shook her hand and waved goodbye to the girl as he turned back to Petra, who gave him an approving nod.
"You certainly are quick minded…" she said, "Being able to counter that easily with only a few seconds of preparation. Such a shame that your knowledge applies strictly to Pokemon and Battle, and not to social skills!" Erick's face grew red as his eyes turned to a glare.
"Let's just grab that care package and help me find a steel type." he growled. "Then we're going shopping so we don't have a repeat of last night
"Sure thing," Petra giggled, thankful that she was covering up a small blush herself.
That's all for today's chapter, I hope you all enjoyed it. I've got lots going on, so it's been a bit rough for me to continue updating and writing as we near Winter Break, but that should all change once I'm on holiday. Hopefully then we can get into the real aspects of this story and what I'm going to do with it.
Cassidy is based on another friend of mine who really likes Pokemon, and she'll serve as a secondary rival in this story. Don't worry, we'll be seeing more of her in the near future.
