I DO NOT OWN TEEN WOLF, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, OR THE CHARACTERS.
Chapter Seventeen:
I worked on planting my herbs and enjoyed the stillness and the quiet that surrounded me. Sitting outside and tending to my garden gave me a piece of serenity that I needed.
"Do you need a hand with that?" A voice asked from behind me. I jumped and turned to pinpoint who it had come from. I saw someone who looked just how Derek and Laura described Peter.
"I have two of my own. Thank you, though." I declined. "Peter?" I guessed. He nodded with a smirk.
"You must be Bonnie. You're even lovelier than Derek let on. You even have that glow about you." He commended. I blushed and wiped off my gardening gloves, before pulling them off and setting them on the ground.
"Laura will be ecstatic that you're here. She was making cookies." I admitted. His eyebrows rose in surprise.
"I don't know if I should be scared or delighted. How's her cooking?" He teased. I laughed, easily. He must have that effect on people. They told me that he was funny.
"It's pretty good, actually. Let's let them know that you're here. They've both been talking about you all day. They'll be excited that you're here." I decided. Peter offered me his hand and I took it, letting him help me to my feet.
I was finally beginning to show, but thankfully I didn't have to waddle around just yet. I got tired easily and I was always hungry, when I wasn't nauseous. I'll forever be amazed that the Hale's have been so accepting.
"Peter!" Laura exclaimed. She threw her arms around him and Derek came walking over to us with a smile on his face.
"It's good to see you. We've missed you." Derek admitted. He piled into the group hug with Laura, before pulling me into the hug, too. I relished in the feeling of being surrounded by people who felt by family and enjoyed feeling safe.
Peter became a facet in our lives. We made dinner as a family and ate as a family. He helped me with my gardening, too. When Laura wasn't up for talking or I didn't want to bother Caroline, I talked to Peter. He became an easy confidant.
More and more, I wished that the baby was Derek's and not Damon's. I knew that Peter staying with us helped my security, but it didn't eliminate the threat completely. Damon was still out there biding his time. We all knew it. I just prayed my baby would survive it.
One day, I wanted to marry Derek. I wanted to become a part of his family for real. I just didn't know how to tell him yet. He's already done so much for me. How do you tell the man that you love that you're ready for something more?
"Are you okay, Bonnie?" Laura asked me. I nodded and gnawed on my bottom lip.
"I just realized something." I admitted.
"Realized what?" Peter asked, walking into the kitchen to help us with lunch.
"That I want to marry Derek."
