(Hours before, in the dragon temple ...)
Aurora was practicing alone in the training room. She had already beaten several dolls, but she kept it up: winning one after another, as if she weren't enough for her. The reason for her sudden effort on hers was that she considered herself a weak dragon compared to her older brother, plus her father spent a lot of time teaching Drago new moves.
"I can't let my brother beat me. I must be better than him" she thought.
She only had one more left, so her Aurora fired an ice shot at him, freezing him and slowing him down. Then she gored him and tossed him into the air. Then she also jumped up to hit him in the air. At that moment, Drago entered the room. Aurora, seeing him, lost concentration and fell, just like her rival.
"Aurora!" Drago yelled, as he approached his sister "Are you okay?"
"It was fine ... until you arrived" she said getting up, annoyed that he had interrupted her training.
"Hey, hey, are you blaming me for falling?"
"I was practically kicking that ape's ass until you messed up my concentration!"
"And you think I was the one who ruined your big moment?! If you concentrated better, nothing would bother you!"
"Are you telling me I don't have the ability to concentrate?!"
"Enough for both of you, please!" shouted their father, who had just entered the room, as did their mother, "What's going on here?"
"He (she) started" said Drago and Aurora.
"Please, don't fight" said Edel, "Explain better what happened"
"I was practicing well against the dolls until Drago made me fall" said Aurora.
"Not true, you lost your concentration!" Drago defended himself.
"By your simple arrival!"
"You're always a crybaby!"
"And you a smug!"
"Drago, Aurora!" Edel interrupted, "Please calm down!"
Both young dragons fell silent and looked at each other. Then they left the room: Drago went to the balcony and Aurora to her room. The parents stood and looked at each other as if wondering what to do.
"We should talk to them" Edel suggested, "I'll go see Aurora ..."
"Wait a minute" said Jhonny, "If we want them to get along, we must understand them well: ice and fire are quite opposites. So, the best way for them to listen to us is for each of us to speak to them in a way that they can understand the other. "
"You and I got on very well despite the apparent difference ..."
"Yes, and I am glad it did. But they are brothers, and this could be something… different. Believe me, I had a brother and we didn't get along perfectly either, but I know how to solve this: go talk to Drago, and I'll go talk to Aurora "
"Okay, I'll trust that you know what you're doing ..."
(In the balcony…)
Drago was almost on the brink, watching the landscape below him. Slowly Edel approached him.
"Nice views, right?" Edel said.
"Yes mom ..." Drago said without looking at her.
"You know that you won't always be like this ..."
"Yeah, just… I don't know why Aurora treats me like I'm a show-off. She's smarter than me, I'm the one who should be envious of her. You know it yourself "
"But you called her 'crybaby', and that's treating her very badly. But I think what they both have is that they feel 'overshadowed' by each other. Tell me, don't you think she feels 'weak' because you are the most fighter and you would feel 'stupid' because she is smarter than you? "
Drago laughed.
"You got me mom," he said, "Yeah, I feel silly when she knows answers that would take me hours to know. But, I didn't know that she felt that way. "
"I have already taught him all the movements I know. Maybe you should give her a chance to show her skills"
"But mom, don't you disagree with her getting hurt by her or something happens to her?"
"Do you think she is too small for her to be able to defend for herself? I do not agree. At her age, I could already be very fierce when she proposed it to me. Besides, I am trusting that you will know how to protect her, right?"
Drago thought for a few moments before answering:
"It's okay. I guess I can give you a chance to show me some courage. And I'll protect her in case she gets hurt. But the thing would be if she accepted me ... "
"Don't worry about it, your father is talking to her now ..."
(Meanwhile...)
Aurora was in her room in her temple, crying a little as she remembered how she had behaved. Suddenly, she heard a noise behind her. Turning around, she met her father at the door.
"Can I get in?" her father said.
"Yes dad ..." said Aurora, trying to wipe her tears away.
The guardian entered the room. With a soft paw, he wiped away her daughter's tears.
"Much better, right?" he said calmly, "Now tell me: You weren't just upset with Drago, you seemed upset with something else, can you tell me what's upsetting you?"
Aurora breathed a little and then spoke:
"I'm not like Drago… I mean, I was always the more studious of the two, but he is practically a warrior. I am not up to him. That's why you probably prefer him more ... "
"Aurora, I don't prefer Drago more than you: we are all the same"
"That doesn't change the fact that Drago is better than me, does it? I'm a clumsy…"
"I felt that way too. But you and your brother are just as special. I'll give you an example: both are the two sides of a coin."
"How is that?"
"You see, a coin has two opposite sides, but they complement each other. Without one of them, it is no longer a coin. In short, both have to work and get along well together."
"I would like to, but ... How can two dragons work together if they are of different elements?"
"First, remember that the guardians make up a team of four different elements. So, it is possible. Second, that's what I thought when your mother and I teamed up. But it was she who gave me the courage to trust my power, when I was afraid of being a clumsy who did not use her powers correctly "
"And how did they learn to work together?"
"Supporting each other. She had an optimism and spirit that carried our team forward. And, according to her, I had the knowledge and the ability to lead ... something I thought I would never have. You think that Drago is like me, but he is more like your mother and you have the curiosity to learn, something that I had"
Aurora thought a bit, she did not know what to say to that anecdote.
"We can all contribute something" continued her father, "You just have to believe in yourself, and learn to work as a team"
"Okay, I'll try" she finally said, "I just hope he can forgive me for being so rude to him ..."
"Don't worry, your mother is talking to him. We are going now. You must apologize to each other "
Once both dragons understood their mistakes, they returned to the practice room. They barely looked at each other, they ran to talk.
"Drago, I have to tell you ..."
"Aurora, I have to tell you ..."
They stopped; they knew they were going to cross paths in the conversation. Drago raised his hand, he needed to speak first.
"I wanted to tell you that… I'm sorry for telling you crybaby: it wasn't good, and I'm also sorry I ruined your practice. I hope you can excuse me ... "
"Thanks for the gesture, but I am the one who should apologize" said Aurora, "You have simply been better than me and well ... I wanted to be as strong as you. I'm sorry"
Both dragons apologized and hugged each other.
"Good" said Jhonny, "Since they have already put their differences aside, I suppose they can show it at tomorrow's event"
"Event?" Aurora asked.
"With the support of Chief Meadow, we have organized a flight race through the Avalar Valley to the Cheetah Village. It will be a test for all the young dragons, but it will be in teams of two"
"I see ..." Drago said thoughtfully.
"What's up brother?" Aurora asked with a smile on her face, "Did you think about teaming up with Nina?"
Drago blushed at his sister's comment.
"Aurora please" said Edel, "Don't embarrass your brother, we don't want them to fight again"
"Yes, we just want both of you ..." Jhonny broke off because at that moment, Spyro entered the room.
"Hello friends," Spyro greeted, "I need to talk to Johnny for a moment."
"Spyro, is something bad happening?"
"I don't know, I just hope I'm wrong" he replied.
Jhonny looked at his old friend and saw a serious face. Then he turned to his wife and his children.
"Edel, stay with the children and prevent them from fighting again. We'll talk later" he said.
"All right, settle your affairs" Edel replied.
Spyro and Jhonny went to the meeting room. Once there, they made sure they were alone.
"Well" said Jhonny, "something must be happening or must have happened for you to have that face"
"It's nothing like that" Spyro explained, "It's something that could happen: Nina had a dream about the Malefor mountain and Gaul's specter"
"Gaul? The same one that you defeated in the Eternal Night? "
"Yes, at first I thought she had a nightmare. But the last time I had those kinds of dreams, they came true. And I worried that like Cynder, something will happen to Nina"
A noise was heard through a temple window. Jhonny went in front of her and opened it: An eagle with a red bow around her neck flew in and landed in front of both dragons. He was carrying a kind of letter or message.
Carefully, Jhonny untied the noose and took the message. Opening it, his face reflected some concern.
"Spyro, I will gather the guardians" she said finally, "You go back to the city and bring Cynder, Flame and Ember, Nina and Ash can also come: they will stay with Drago and Aurora. We must have an emergency meeting"
