Mrs. Moore opened the trapdoor to the cooling tunnels. She climbed down the ladder and the Doctor floated down after her.
She gave him a look. "Is that what you use that incredible ability for? Skipping ladders?"
"Yep. And stairs. Stairs are the worst."
She just looked at him.
"What?"
She turned away, shaking her head. She shivered. "It's freezing here."
"They're waking up. Run!" the Doctor shouted.
He and Mrs. Moore ran down the cooling tunnels as fast as they could. It was too tight for the Doctor to fly. The Cybermen sprang to life, one after another. They marched forward as the Doctor and Mrs. Moore reached the ladder. The Doctor jumped into the air and buzzed the sonic screwdriver at the trapdoor.
Mrs. Moore followed him up the ladder. "Open it! Open it!"
The Doctor threw open the door. He grabbed Mrs. Moore's hand and flew out. He slammed the door down and sealed it with his sonic screwdriver.
"It's Mickey. He says 'head for the roof'," Rose said.
Rose and Pete ran, and the Doctor flew up the steps, avoiding explosions and flames. They climbed the ladder to the roof. Rose jumped over the wall, followed by Pete, and the Doctor flew up last. They stopped when they saw the huge zeppelin overhead.
"Mickey, where'd you learn to fly that thing?!" Rose shouted.
"Playstation. Just hold on, Rose. I'm coming to get you!" Mickey answered.
Rose and Pete ran forward, flinching at the explosions around them. The Doctor didn't have to fear the explosions as he flew overhead. He watched Rose and Pete to help them if he needed to.
A rope ladder dropped from the zeppelin.
"Rose, get up!" the Doctor shouted.
Rose began to climb. Pete climbed on after her. They climbed up the rope and the Doctor flew with them as the zeppelin rose up and away.
"We did it! We did it!" Rose exclaimed.
The Doctor happily circled the ladder a few times. He flew beneath the zeppelin.
Rose screamed. The Doctor looked back. Rose and Pete were barely hanging on as the ladder jerked downward. Lumic was hanging onto the bottom, and began climbing up. The Doctor pulled the sonic screwdriver out of his pocket and flew down to the ladder. He grabbed onto the ladder below Pete and buzzed his sonic screwdriver at the rope. Lumic drew closer and closer. The rope finally snapped and Lumic plummeted.
"Nooooo!" he screamed.
Pete laughed with delight. Lumic fell into the flames.
Rose and Pete continued struggling up the ladder. The Doctor let go of the ladder and followed beneath the zeppelin. The wind whipped his hair and he grinned. He rarely got to fly as fast as he wanted, out in the open sky. He pushed himself and flew faster than the zeppelin. He flew up to the window and waved at a shocked Mickey. He grinned wildly and flew away. Mickey chased him. He had never flown so fast before. He laughed and shouted with joy.
