A/N: A few days passed, but here is a new chapter. Hope you like it!

Chapter seventeen

Soon it was morning and we had to get ready for school. We decided on going to school together but first I had to get ready. I had run out of home in the clothes I wore during the school day and I had to change.

Rosalie had a big smile on her face: "This means we get to play dress up! Hmm… so the size. You are most similar to Esme in the size. So I am going to do your hair and, Alice, could you find some clothes?"

Alice nodded enthusiastically and then she was gone. I on the other hand was not so happy about this outcome.

"Are you sure I can't just go home and change?" I asked pleadingly.

Rosalie pouted: "And rob us of the chance to get you ready?"

I sighed in answer and quickly added: "Just don't do anything crazy with my hair!"

"Don't worry. You will look stunning," Rosalie reassured me and got started.

They had decided I would only see myself in the end and that frustrated me. When it came to fashion and getting ready, I was like my mom. Simpler was better.

I only noticed Rosalie retouching some of my locks with a curling wand and pinning back some of my hair. I hoped she would keep it simple. Then she moved onto makeup and by that time Alice was back with the clothes. She had picked out light wash skinny jeans and a fitted blouse that would flatter by body type. We got into an argument whether I could keep my black sneakers but I lost and got some tanned little boots on a heel instead.

"You know I hate heels, right?" I asked annoyed.

Alice giggled: "Of course, you do. You are so much like Bella in this way. But you are a vampire and they shouldn't be a problem for you. Plus you look good in them!"

I rolled my eyes: "Remember, I am half vampire. Who knows maybe I will start falling like mom if I wear heels," even I started to laugh a little bit at the end.

"Impossible. Now look in the mirror and tell us what you think," said Rosalie.

I got up and went to the mirror. A gasp left my lips. I looked like one of them… like one of the Cullens. My hair was elegant yet simple, the makeup was light and accented all the right features on my face. I had asked for no lipstick and they had agreed after some discussion. And the clothes… whatever I would come up with, I could never dress myself so well. I had to admit, while I looked more similar to them and more refined, I still looked like myself.

I smiled brightly at both of them: "Thank you, aunt Alice and aunt Rosalie!" I also cautiously tested out how they reacted to being called aunts.

The result surprised me a bit because they got so happy that I was immediately pulled into a hug by both of them.

"Oh, I never thought someone would call me that… I am so happy that we somehow found you," Rosalie said as she let go of me.

I got a bit said at that, because it reminded me that my mom paid with her life for me to be here but I quickly put that thought out of my head and tried to concentrate on the happy feeling around me.

Esme came in the room and stopped in the doorway: "Oh, Renesmee… you look lovely but you already did before. I am glad you have bonded with all of us so fast."

I smiled at her: "I am glad as well. I didn't think that you would accept me so fast."

Rosalie joined in: "But of course! You are family. And we take care of our family," then she turned at Esme, "So did you come up with what we will tell the humans?"

I had completely forgotten! How would I explain my new style to my friends? And I wouldn't want to act like I didn't know the Cullens. We had to come up with a solution to how we are so close.

Esme nodded: "Yes, we did. Carlisle will explain downstairs. Let's go."

With that all of us went to the living room where Carlisle, Emmet and Jasper were deep in discussion. They stopped when we came in.

Carlisle started explaining without asking: "So we decided the best way for us to be able to act like a family without any problems, is to say that you, Renesmee, are a cousin of Emmet and Alice from your father's side. The story already is that Alice and Emmet, as well as Edward, are siblings. And since you didn't know your father, this would explain why we didn't know about you until now. It would be that you recognized our last name and we got talking. So this way we are still a family and you have an explanation for you not knowing each other on the first day."

I frowned: "Well… I guess that could work."

I wasn't sure it would convince my friends but this was the best we could come up with. I had already established myself in Binghamton and the Cullens also had already come up with their own story. Se we just needed to join both of our stories.

With that done and me ready for school, we had to head out. Goodbyes ensued.

"I understand you have to go home after school but will you come over when you can? I would love to see you more," Esme said lovingly as she hugged me.

"Of course, Grandma. I just found you and if I have a say in it, I won't let go of you. I finally have my family with me," I answered as I let go. Esme once again looked close to tears. I got worried: "Is everything okay? Can I call you grandma?"

She nodded: "Yes, I would love that."

We both smiled at each other and I moved onto Carlisle.

"Oh, I can't wait to spend more time with you. You also have to come to the hospital someday. We could look at some tests to see how similar you really are to vampires," then he quickly added, "Of course, if that is okay with you and you want to."

I giggled at his excitement over getting to discover something new: "Yes, Grandpa, I would like to do that."

He also reacted positively by hugging me close and whispering in my ear: "Thank you, Renesmee."

When I finished saying goodbyes to my grandparents, Alice dragged me to the car where Jasper was already waiting for us to go. The drive was silent. Only when we were close to school, Alice started talking.

Alice POV

I was in my thoughts for most of the ride to school. It was really hard to wrap my head around what had happened tonight. Edward had a child! A hybrid vampire child! And also… it was what had killed Bella. The mystery I had tried to figure all these years. Edward didn't want me to snoop around. He didn't actually want anything except to end his life. That was why we kept him close. If he came to the decision to go to the Volturi, we would be able to still stop him. While he couldn't stand to have company, we made sure to check up on him. Edward saw no point in living with Bella gone and was heartbroken beyond repair. I was furious with him, even after all these years. I blamed him for Bella's death, even though we didn't know how it happened. I hadn't dared to contact Charlie, fearing it would hurt him in his grief, but now I wished I had done so. Perhaps, we could have found about Renesmee faster. And it turns out, Edward really was to blame for Bella's demise. I still didn't know how to feel about that.

And Renesmee… She was the most beautiful person I had seen. She was so lovely, but I could see she was broken. She held resentment towards Edward and herself. She hated herself for Bellas death and it hurt my heart. Renesmee was so young but matured far beyond her years. I could only imagine what a bright girl she would have been if she had her parents growing up. Instead she had Charlie, who, as you could see, loved her and cared for her very much. But he too was a broken man and he was human which meant that Renesmee felt responsible for him. There was much from Charlie in her personality. She was just as serious and reserved, although her young age sometimes shined through. Also visible was Charlies dislike of us and the supernatural even though it was well hidden by Renesmee's joy of having found her family. But overall he had done a good job. It couldn't have been easy to bury his daughter and then raise his granddaughter, who was a hybrid, all by himself.

Suddenly I had a vision of Edward packing his bags and then blank… I quickly came to a conclusion of what was happening. Every once in a while, Edward decided to visit us. Even though he was grieving and couldn't stand to be around anyone, sometimes he missed his family. Those times he came over on his own accord. Sometimes he would stay for a week but sometimes for only a day. So… he must have decided to come to Binghamton but the vision disappears once he is in contact with Renesmee, since I don't see Renesmee, that was the only explanation for the vision to go blank.

Jasper sensed my nervousness and put a hand on my knee as well as sent some calming waves my way: "What is it, love?"

I slowly looked at Renesmee and then back at Jasper, deciding on what to do: "Edward… he is driving over to visit."

I heard Renesmee take a sharp and deep breath.
