Chapter Eight
"Archer, I'm sure you've already heard… but Addison is missing," he explained. "And instead of being out there and looking for her, they're questioning me. We have to do something."
"Well, Mark, are you sure you didn't have anything to do with my sister's disappearance?"
"This isn't the time for jokes, Archer."
"Fine," he gulped. "Then let the police do their job, Sloan. It would be very stupid of you to go out looking for her yourself and I won't be a part of it. Now, excuse me. I have a plan to catch."
The phone beeped and he looked down at his phone in anger. If no one wanted to help him, then he'd go at it alone.
Mark got dressed in all black, through on a pair of sneakers and a hat before making his way out of his apartment and into his car. He drove to Addison's neighborhood first since it was the last place she was seen. He parked at the end of the street, got out of his car and grabbed his flashlight looking for anything unfamiliar or out of place.
He'd been there for at least an hour and has come up short. There's nothing connected to Addison and he was starting to get pissed. Mark opted to start looking elsewhere when familiar red and blue lights came into his view.
The cops pulled up on him slowly with a flashlight but immediately recognized him, "Oh, Dr. Sloan. We got a call from some neighbors about a strange man scooping out the place. Thought it could be related to the case… but it's just you."
"May I ask what it is you're doing here exactly?" the officer asked as he stepped out of the car.
Mark rolled his eyes, "Doing your job, apparently. Why aren't ya'll out here looking?"
"Dr. Sloan, we assure you that we're doing everything we can and that you're only interfering with our job more when you go off on your own searching."
"You don't understand," he explained. "This sort of thing doesn't happen to us. Addison isn't supposed to go missing. She's a doctor! A baby doctor! Who would want to hurt her?"
"Dr. Sloan, please go back to your car and go ahead home. We're looking for Dr. Montgomery. We're doing the best we can."
"Well, your best isn't good enough."
