Sonic was hanging out outside with his medallion on nodding.

"Triplets born, the throne awaits

A seer warns of a deadly fate

Give up your children, separate

Bide your time, lie in wait!

Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground

We made a vow, our mother will be found.

We grow, learn what's right

Leaders of the freedom fight

We seek our mother, she knows we do

Is it time? If she only knew

Will the prophecy come true?

Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground

We made a vow our mother will be found.

"I long for my children, but I have to wait

To act too soon could seal their fate." he heard Aleena sing.

"We made a vow, our mother will be found!

Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground

Sonic Underground!

We made a vow, our mother will be found!

Sonic Underground!" he sang.

Then he sighed.

"I made a vow my family would be seen." he sang quietly.

Later morning Sonic stood on the roof of the garage. Suddenly he leapt down from the roof and took off running. A moment later he ran back and headed to the front door. Amy opened it.

"Hey, where'd you go?" Amy asked.

"Just out." Sonic said.

She sighed dreamy.

"He's so mysterious..."

As Sonic walked inside, a close-up of Amy followed him.

Chris was in the dining room having breakfast when Ella walked in with a bowl of fruit, followed by Tanaka, on the phone.

"Thorndyke residence... Very good, sir." Tanaka said and hung up. "Your father has requested I inform you that he and your mother will be stopping by for a visit this afternoon."

"Wow, Ella, they're coming to see me!" Chris said.

"What a nice surprise!" Ella said.

"It's not even my birthday!" he said then realized something. "Uh... Uh-oh..."

"Is there something wrong?" Tanaka asked.

"No. I'm all done. Can I go now?" Chris said stood up.

He stands up.

"Yes. Go ahead." Ella said.

"See you later!" Then he ran out of the room.

Ella blinked in surprise before turning to Tanaka, who looked at her.

"Something is up..." she said.

Chuck, Sonic, Tails, and Amy were in Chuck's workshop also enjoying their breakfast. Chris is standing nearby with his backpack on.

"I've gotta go to school, so I'm counting in you guys to stay out of sight when my parents show up." Chris said.

"Gotcha. No problem." Tails said.

"Yeah, sure! You can count on us." Amy said.

"It won't be for long. Mom and Dad's visits have to be short, as they both have bust schedules." Chris said.

As he spoke, Sonic finished his burger and got up to leave.

"Hey Sonic..." Chris said but Sonic ignored him and was already gone. "Is he mad at me?"

"Don't mind him." Amy said.

Suddenly Chuck pointed to the clock.

"Get going, Chris! You'll be late for school if you don't hurry up." he said and Chris sees that the time is 7:04.

"Whaah!" he said.

In his hurry to get down the stairs, he nearly falls.

As he wasn't hurt, everyone sighed in relief. Tails turned to Chuck.

"Chris sure is happy about his folks visiting, huh, Chuck?" he asked.

"Mhm. He is." Chuck said nodding.

"What do they do?" Amy asked.

"Chris' dad is president of a huge software company." he said as a shot was shown of Nelson at his desk at work. "He spends most of his time at the office or travelling on business."

"And what about his mom?"

"She's a star." he said and a shot of Lindsey posing for the cameras was shown. "A famous actress who jets all around the world making movies."

"I bet it's pretty tough for Chris not having his parents around most of the time." Tails said.

Yes."

"He must miss them." Amy said.

Little did they know Sonic has more experience with not seeing your parents than Chris himself. They knew he was separated from Sonia and Manic but didn't know how long they were and how long it took them to find their mom and never knew their dad.

Sonic was lying on the roof, staring up into the sky thinking about his own family with his medallion on.

At Eggman's base Eggman was swiveling back and forth in his chair between Bocoe and Decoe.

"Rrgh, I've got to think of something..." he said and stops swiveling. "Gah! I've got to think of a way to conquer this planet! Perhaps the children... Maybe one of my robots could brainwash the school kiddies, so that they'd love me and honor me and look up to me as a hero, and they could persuade their parents to accept me as their ruler."

Decoe approached him with the cards on the tray.

"Here are your choices." he said and Eggman examines the cards.

Eggman examined the cards.

"Let's see... This is a tough one." he said and loaded the cards into the random card chooser. "I'll let the machine decide." he said then pulled the lever seeing that it was depict E-51 Intelligente. "Perfect!"

Then the hangar door opened, and E-51 Intelligente flew off toward Chris' school and landed outside.

At Chris' school the kids were sitting in Mr. Stewart's math class, poring over some hard problems while Mr. Stewart sleept.

"That doesn't even make sense!" Chris said.

"I don't even know where to start." Frances said.

"I'm totally lost!" Danny said.

"Should we wake him up?" Chris said.

"No, don't!"

"Then he'll put us to sleep!" she said and a cheery Intelligente burst through the doors.

"My, my! What an intelligent-looking class!" Intelligente said.

The surprised students turned to Intelligente and Mr. Stewart woke up as Intelligente turned to him.

"Oh! Perhaps I've arrived during nap time." he said.

"Uh, I'm sorry, what are you...?" Mr. Steward said.

"Hm. I'll give you three guesses, young man."

"You're a robot?"

Intelligente approached him and his eyes turned red, indicating evil.

"A robot teacher. Hmm... Goodbye. I'm taking over." he said.

"...You are?"

"I am."

"How's that-"

"Don't- Aaaahhh!"

To the students' shock, Intelligente picked up Mr. Stewart by the collar and threw him out into the hall.

"They're replacing me with a robot, huh? Wait 'til I give that principal a piece of my mind!"

At the principal's office the principal was drinking coffee.

"Delicious." the principal said.

"How dare you- huh?" Mr. Stewart said causing the principal accidentally spill the coffee on himself not pleased.

A moment later, Mr. Stewart was explaining the situation to the principal.

"I'm glad to know you never hired that robot. My students will be relieved, too." he said.

A moment later, he and the principal peered into the classroom. Intelligente was teaching the class.

"And that's how to crack an equation! Mathematics is a breeze when you keep your eye on the pi!" he said.

"Now it's starting to make sense!" Chris said.

"It's easy!" Frances said.

"All right!" Danny said.

"Yeah! Wow! Yeah!" they all said.

"That robot is a great teacher." the principal said causing Mr. Stewart to become surprised. "Sit in on his class and study his technique." he said and left.

"But sir..." said Mr. Steward frustrated.

Then he looked back into the classroom.

"Thank you, class. It's an honor to teach you." Intelligente said.

"There's something fishy here. I'd better check this out with headquarters." He said and grinned.

Looking around to make sure the coast is clear, he sneaks into the men's restroom. He enters one of the stalls, takes out his transmitter, and places an ear bud in his left ear.

"Come in. This is Chalkboard Charlie calling Homeroom with a code red priority alert." he said on the radio.

"Let me get this straight. You want us to send out our land, sea, and air forces because a robot kicked you out of your classroom?" an agent said on the radio.

"Roger. I'll transmit my coordinates."

A shot was shown of various tanks, ships, and helicopters.

"Wait'll control hears this!" the agent said laughing and slammed his fist down on the control panel, which creates feedback that made Mr. Stewart cringe.

"Seems like we're having technical difficulties. I'll have to go to the police."

At the police station an officer was on the phone with Mr. Stewart. He was eating one of the burgers in front of him, as well as several other fast food items.

"So you were assaulted by a robot who took over your class and now he's holding all your students prisoner? Stay right there; I'll be over in a jif to investigate." the officer said on the phone.

Back at school Mr. Stewart was waiting outside the gate, as the officer had instructed.

Where is that cop? He is late! ... Well, finally!" As the squad car pulled up, Mr. Stewart kicked the car. "Hurry hurry hurry!" he said while the officer stepped out of the car, followed and continued to eat his burger. "Come on, officer! The kids are in danger! Let's move it!" he continued and arrived at the door to the classroom and turned back. "Just remember: the robot's dangerous!"

The officer arrived, and Mr. Stewart threw open the door.

"Huh?" he said and the classroom was empty. "That mechanical menace kidnapped the kids!"

The kids were outside playing baseball.

I've always wanted to play baseball. Shall we?" Intelligente said and the students cheered. "Well, what are we waiting for? Play ball!"

Then he raised the baseball bat he was leaning on in the air, and the practice commences. Mr. Stewart arrived outside with the police officer.

"Right there. You knock it down and I'll attempt to disable its power supply. There's no time to lose." Mr. Steward said but Intelligente didn't not appear threatening." Mr. Steward said.

"Remember to keep your wrist relaxed all through the pitch. Like so! You see?" Intelligente said helping Chris' right arm to get into the right position."

"Doesn't seem like those are in danger to me; in fact, it looks they're having a great time! I wish I was out there playin'." The officer said and took another bite of his burger.

"Stop pigging out and arrest him!" Mr. Steward said and took the burger from the officer, prompting him to draw his billy club

"Hey! I'm nailin' you for burger burglary!" he said and started chasing him. "Drop that sandwich, scumbo!"

At Eggman's base.

"Rrgh... I wonder if Intelligente has successfully brainwashed those brats into adniring me yet. I'd better look and see how it'd going." He said and pressed the button activating the satellite. "What's this?!"

Back at school Intelligente and the students were still playing baseball. Danny was the catcher, Chris was the pitcher, and Intelligente was the batter.

"I'm ready!" Intelligente said.

"Put it over the plate!" Danny said.

"You can do it! Throw the curveball!" a student said.

Chris nodded and pitched the ball.

Intelligente was able to bat the ball out of sight.

"Wow, look at it go!" a student said and Danny was shocked.

Danny was shocked.

"Mr. Intelligente is amazing!" Frances said.

As it batted a home run, Intelligente ran around the bases.

"My first home run! How thrilling! Baseball is such an exhilarating activity!" he said.

At Eggman's base.

"Intelligente sure is a hitch with his students. They love him." Decoe said.

"He's supposed to make those kids love me... not himself!" Eggman said.

At the mansion a helicopter, flanked by two escort helicopters, arrived at Thorndyke Mansion. The main chopper landed while the other two left. Ella and Tanaka stood outside while two security guards stepped out of the helicopter, followed by Nelson and Lindsey. Ella and Tanaka bowed.

"Welcome home." Tanaka and Ella said.

"Thank you." Nelson and Lindsey said.

Chuck stepped out of the house.

"Lindsey! Nelson!" he said.

Good to see you, Dad." Nelson said.

Hello, Father. How is everything going here at home?" Lindsey said.

Wonderfully well, now that the two of you are here." Chuck said.

When does Chris get back from school?" Nelson asked,

Nelson, Lindsey, and Chuck entered the house, with Tanaka and Ella carrying their luggage behind them. Meanwhile, Tails and Amy were observing all this from the window of Chuck's workshop while Sonic reclined on the roof above them.

"Chris' dad seems like a nice guy." Tails said.

"His mom is really pretty. Don't you think so, Sonic?" Amy said but Sonic didn't answer. "Aw..."

At school.

"Yay! Go, Danny! Knock it out!" students said.

Now Danny is up to bat and successfully bated the ball.

"Wow, nice shot." Chris said.

"That one's gone!" Frances said.

Just as the ball was sailing into the home run zone, Intelligente flew up and caught the ball.

"That's the greatest catch ever!" Chris said.

Danny was amazed but Frances was clapping.

"Whoa, he's cool..." she said.

Then Intelligente landed on the ground.

"Well, well, well! Seems the old retro thrusters are not as rusty as I thought!" he said and chuckled "Reminds me of my early days on the cricket field when I was a little bigger than a laptop!" he said and laughed.

But his celebrating was cut short when Bokkun flew in.

"Message for you!" he said.

"Huh? Bokkun!" Intelligente said.

"Dr. Eggman has a message for you."

"Hm? A message?"

"How'd you like to visit the junkyard?!" Bokkun asked mad.

"Do you mean he's miffed at me?"

"Sure the doc's angry at you! Those kids are supposed to get stuck on him, not you, bucket brain!"

"That used to be my mission."

"Huh? Gaaah!"

"I'm afraid all that's changed."

"Huh? How come?"

Intelligente winked at Bokkun.

"I was sent here to make these students admire Dr. Eggman, but I found it far more rewarding to be admired myself!" he said.

"What?! You blow a circuit or something?! Don't you know Dr. Eggman will turn you into scrap metal, you barrel of bolts?!" Bokkun said and the students approached.

"Mr. Intelligente, what's going on?" Frances asked.

"Dr. Eggman may do with me as he wishes, but I refuse to abandon the students I'm my charge." Intelligente said.

"You're the greatest teacher I know. I wish all teachers were as great as you are!"

"Me too." Chris said.

"Same here." Danny said.

Intelligente's eyes became hearts.

"Aww... Thank you... That's wonderful..." he said and cried with joy.

"Stop crying and teach those kids to admire Dr. Eggman!" Bokkun said and dropped to the ground and doodled on it with his finger. "Now I'm cryin!"

At Eggman's base Eggman, Bocoe, and Decoe were watching the events on the screen.

"He lost it." Decoe said.

"That crybaby." Eggman said and growled. "They should admire me!"

At school the bell rang.

"I'll see you all tomorrow, class." Intelligente said.

The students placed their baseball bats, gloves, helmets and hats in a large box, and said goodbye to him.

"I've gotta hurry home now, guys." Chris said.

"Oh yeah? How come?" Frances asked.

"'Cause my mom and dad are coming home for a visit. See ya!" he said and started to leave, but turned back as he saw the Eggmobile arriving.

Eggman leapt out of it holding a bandolier containing various tools.

"Intelligente!" he said and Intelligente jumped in surprise.

"Ahh! Oh my hard drive, it's you!" he said.

"I bet you think you're smart for disobeying my orders, you transistorized traitor! But I'll fix you."

Then he donned the bandolier, and Intelligente shuddered.

"Oohh! No! Please don't disassemble me!" he said and rushed over to Chris. "Chris, help me get away!"

"Huh? But what about what you said a few minutes ago when you swore you'd never abandon us no matter what Dr. Eggman threatened to do to you?" Chris said.

"I really said no matter what?"

"You did!" Frances said.

"We all heard it!" Danny said.

"I suppose there's no way around it, then. What was I thinking?" Intelligente said and heard Eggman laugh.

"What's so funny?" Chris asked.

"You don't really believe that sniveling circuit bot's plans to keep his promise. I'm ordering him to keep you in detention, where you'll be forced to respect me." Eggman said.

"No way!"

"What a snake!" Danny said.

"Listen, robot, unless you want to end up in a scrap heap, you'll follow my orders!" Eggman said.

Intelligente's eyes changed to red and he saluted.

"Sir!" he said.

"I'm not staying. I gotta go home!" Chris said and started to leave but Intelligente grabs him.

"Not so fast! You'll stay in detention with the rest 'til Dr. Eggman dismisses you!"

At home there was an air of impatience. Sonic was standing on the roof, and Amy and Tails were peering inside the living room window.

In the living room Nelson, Lindsey, and Chuck were gathered in the living room. Nelson was twiddling his fingers.

"I wonder what's keeping Chris? He knows you two are here to see him." Chuck said.

"What if there has been an accident?" Lindsey said.

"I'm sure my security people would find out and contact me."Nelson said.

"You're right. He's probably playing with his friends and simply hasn't noticed the time."

Ella was making supper with Tanaka.

"I wonder what's keeping Chris? Dinner's almost ready." Ella said.

"Perhaps I should go and look for him." Tanaka said.

"You know the Thorndykes don't want Chris babied or treated different from other kids. I'm sure he's fine!"

Finally, Nelson stood up.

"I'm going to look for the boy." he said.

"Nelson, have some faith in your son." Lindsey said.

"Huh? Right. He's a level-headed boy, and I'm sure there's a good reason why he's late." he said. "We have to stay calm!" he shouted out.

"He hasn't changed since he was a boy." Chuck said to himself.

Amy, Tails and Shadow were outside.

"I'm getting worried now, too." Amy said and they looked up the roof.

"Hey, Sonic." Tails said.

"Could you go look?"

But Sonic was already gone so Amy and Tails looked at each other. Meanwhile, Sonic was on his way to Chris' school.

At school all the students were sitting in front of Eggman and Intelligente drawing on sketchpads.

"For today's art class, we will sketch the illustrious figure of the great Dr. Eggman. As you draw, take special note of the doctor's noble visage and dignified bearing." Intelligente said.

Some of the students, including Danny and Frances, weren't even drawing.

"Does this pose inspire you?" Eggman said as he posed."How about something more dynamic?"

Chris stops drawing.

"Ah... It doesn't matter how Eggman stands. He'll always look terrible." Chris said.

Then Shadow ran in, blowing by everyone and sending the sketchbooks into the air.

"Huh? Huh?" Danny said.

"Hey! What was that?" Frances asked.

Intelligente gasped as Sonic ran up a vacant flagpole. Eggman was oblivious to the hedgehog's presence.

"Perhaps a pose like a champion!" he said posing again.

"You mean a chump! You're so busy showing off you haven't noticed we're under attack!" Intelligente said annoyed.

Eggman stopped posing long enough to catch sight of Shadow, who was now standing atop the flagpole smirking.

"I always knew you were a poser, Eggman." Shadow said.

"Intelligente." Eggman said.

"Yes, sir." Intelligente said.

"Get rid of Sonic."

"Who's Sonic?" Danny and Frances asked while Chris' jaw was agape.

"Yes, sir! Whatever you say!" Intelligente said.

Then his cap opened, and a barrage of missiles was launched toward Sonic.

Sonic leapt down from the flagpole, and the missiles chased after him. He was easily able to dodge them as they explode in the ground around him. Then, to Intelligente's horror, Sonic sped toward him and plowed right through him, destroying him. Sonic emerged from the smoke cloud as the students cheered.

"Wow!" Danny said.

"He's tough." Frances said.

"Here, Sonic. Your prize." Eggman said.

"What prize?" Sonic asked then glared at him. " To be able to see my family for the first time in three years?" he said quietly only Eggman could here.

"A little reward for your victory." he said then pulled a sticker featuring his own grinning face.

"I don't want a booby prize!" Shadow said.

Eggman held it out to the students.

"Fine. You take it." he said.

"No thanks! Keep it!" Chris said.

"Yuck. Who'd want that?" Frances asked.

"Nasty!" Danny said.

"All right, I'll wear it myself." Eggman said and pinned the sticker on his suit. "Bye."

Then he hopped into his Eggmobile and left.

"He's a weirdo." Frances said.

"Yeah." Danny said.

"He could keep me after school for a million years and I still wouldn't admire him." Chris said.

"You'd better hurry home, Chris. Your parents are waiting." Shadow said.

"Yeah. That's right."

Chris runs in the direction of home, and Sonic speeds on ahead of him.

"He's so cool!" Danny said.

"He sure is." Frances said.

At Station Square the sun was setting as Chris ran past Mr. Stewart, who was still holding the police officer's burger.

"You know, maybe there's more to being a schoolteacher than just passing out homework and taking naps in class." he said.

He takes a bite of the burger just as the police officer shows up.

"Enjoyin' my burger, bub?" an officer asked and Mr. Stewart dropped the burger and took off running as the officer pursued. "Hey, get back here! Stop chewin', ya thief! One more nibble and I'll call out the SWAT team!"

When he got home Chris got into the mansion's foyer.

"Hey Mom and Dad! I'm home!" he said Nelson and Lindsey ran out to greet him.

"Oh, Chris!" Lindsey said.

"It's Chris!" Nelson said. and they hugged him. "Son!"

"Oh my, I was so worried!"

"I told your mother you could look after yourself, but she wouldn't listen."

"Sorry, I got... held up at school." Chris said while Chuck watched from a doorway smiling.

Later, the three of them and Chuck were sitting down in the dining room for supper.

"Of course I knew there was absolutely nothing to worry about. You know, when I was your age, I was kept after school a few times myself." Nelson said and laughed.

"Oh, I'm sure Chris is better behaved than you were, dear.

"Oh, I don't know..." he said chuckling.

"That's for sure." Chuck said as Ella and Tanaka entered carrying food and dishes. "Actually, Chris, your father was more worried about your absence than he lets on. Wasn't he, Tanaka?"

"Well, Mr. Thorndyke was concerned enough to phone the President." Tanaka said.

"Huh?" Chris said.

"And Mrs. Thorndyke called all the TV networks to get the bulletin on the nightly news." Ella said.

"I didn't call all of them." Lindsey said.

Outside Amy and Tails were taking in the scene.

"The Thorndykes feel like a real nice family, don't they, Amy?" Tails said.

"I'm glad Chris made it back home in time." Amy said.

Tails looks up to the roof, where Sonic was thinking about his mom, Sonia and Manic with his medallion on.

"Uh-huh. It always feels good to get back home." Tails said but Sonic was lying on the roof, staring out into space picturing the castle in Mobotropolis.

'We'll be together some day.' he sang in his head.
