Bloodbunny 2
Chapter 4
A Family Outing
By: SmilingDolphins
Nick and Judy had gotten up the next day, and spent 20 minutes trying to find the kitchen. Finally, they stumbled through the doors, where the rest of the family was waiting. Luca was at the stove, Sorina and Crodut were arguing about something, and Doina and Alina were chatting
"Nick, Judy! Good morning! How were your beds? Comfortable, I hope." Luca, asked when he spotted them. He turned away from the stove where he was cooking eggs. He was wearing a bright pink apron with flowers on it. The corner of Nick's mouth ticked upward when he saw the apron.
"Thank you, Luca, the bed was great." Judy put emphasis on the word bed, as in singular. Everyone stopped chatting. Luca raised an eyebrow. Alina only had a smile, as did Doina. Crodut and Sorina stared at them, their faces blank.
"Well, I'm glad you were comfortable," Luca said turning back to the stove. "We are going on a hunt at noon. Would you like to join us?"
"That'd be great. It's been almost 2 days." Nick said.
"Wonderful, now here are your eggs Nick, and here is lettuce wrap with tomatoes and beans for you, Judy." He said, handing them plates.
They both thanked him and began to go sit down when Crodut and Doina appeared in front of them.
"Come with us, and leave the plates," Crodut said.
"Um, OK," Nick said, looking at Judy. Doina jumped onto Judy's head. They set down their plates.
Crodut led them through a hall and out a set of doors. They emerged outside in a garden. They got to a large pool. There was a table on either side. Crodut turned around.
"Nick, come with me. Judy, go with Doina." He said. He began walking towards the table. Doina hopped down and headed in the direction of the other one.
They each sat down. Nick and Judy's interrogations had begun.
"Alright, spill."
Judy looked at the squirrel.
"Spill what?" She asked.
Doina folded her arms and began tapping her foot. She stood on top of the table while Judy sat in the chair.
"The fox, dummy!" She said. "What's the deal? You totally put emphasis on the word bed back there, as in a single bed, not 2."
"Well…" Judy tried to pull her hand under the table to hide her ring, but Doina noticed.
Doina gasped and pointed at Judy. "Are you married to that fox?"
Judy immediately got defensive.
"Maybe!" She snapped. "Is that a problem with you?"
The squirrel looked taken aback. Then she realized Judy was probably sensitive about it, as many animals wouldn't approve.
"Judy, I'm not disgusted or anything like that. This is amazing! Heck, I thought the only inter-species was-" Doina clamped her mouth shut, mid-sentence, realizing what she was about to say.
Now Judy was intrigued.
"Was who?" She asked.
"Who, what?" The squirrel asked.
"Who else do you know that's in an inter-species relationship?"
"No one." The squirrel replied innocently. "Except for you now."
Judy narrowed her eyes, not believing her.
"SO! Can I see your ring?" Doina asked, clearly trying to change the subject. Judy pulled her hand from under the table and took off the ring. She set it on the table. She saw Doina's eyes turn red as she picked up the ring and looked through it.
"You know you love me." She said, reading the engraving on the inside. "Awww, that's so sweet!"
Judy smiled. "Nick's has Yes, Yes I Do. On it."
Doina placed her tiny paw over her heart.
"Oh, I hope I meet someone as sweet as him." She said dreamily.
"I'm sure you will," Judy said. She felt a connection to this squirrel. She realized it was because she was reminded of herself by Doina.
"Thank you, Judy," Doina said. All of the sudden, from across the pool came the sound of laughter. Crodut was cracking up, probably at something Nick had said.
"Let's go check on them, shall we?" Judy asked, holding out her hand.
Doina hopped onto it as Judy began walking towards the boys.
"You love bunny, Da?" Crodut asked.
Nick hadn't expected him to be so frank about it and he spluttered.
"Uhh, well, err."
"You wear ring. Rabbit wear ring. So unless your wife and rabbit's husband both okay with you two going on long trip to a remote country together, I say you married, da?"
"Yes, we're married." Nick finally got out. Crodut analyzed the fox.
"Good. We need more like you." He said.
"You share bed?" He asked.
This time, Nick was ready. He gave his sly smile and leaned back.
"Oh, we share much more than just the bed."
The reaction was almost instantaneous. Crodut roared with laughter, holding his mid-section as he convulsed. He continued laughing. Tears began to form in his eyes. He bent over, but when he looked up, he quickly quieted down.
"Whatcha talking about Nick?" Judy's voice came from behind him.
"Sharing!" Crodut barked, falling into giggles again.
Judy raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, I think I hear Luca calling us about our food getting cold!" Nick said quickly.
Nick finished his breakfast and went upstairs to use the bathroom. It only took him 10 minutes to find their room this time. He walked into the bathroom attached to it and began to do his business. He heard the door of the room open just as he flushed.
"Hey, Carrots! I'll be right out." Nick washed his hands and walked out of the bathroom. Instantly he was tackled from behind and thrown onto the bed. Sorina pinned his hand beside him and held him.
"Hey! What are you-" Nick trailed off as he realized Sorina was only wearing a bra and her underwear.
"You know, Nick, if you're going to be in an inter-species relationship, you should at least still stick to predators," Sorina said, smiling evilly.
"Let me go!" Nick growled. He tried to wrench his hands from her grasp but she was much stronger.
"I practice sparring with Borya and you're inexperienced. I'm not going anywhere." Sorina brought her lips down on his.
Nick gave a muffled scream of protest. Nick realized how much he really loved Judy because the taste of another person on his lips was like rotten flesh. Sorina began to move her hand down Nick's body, still holding him down with the other. She reached his waist and unbuttoned his pants.
NO! Nick thought. For foxes, it was worse than death to cheat on your wife with another woman. For foxes, once you were married, that was it. Even if your spouse died, usually you didn't remarry for the rest of your life. Foxes created this custom of overwhelming loyalty to combat the prejudice they constantly faced as untrustworthy and someone you never wanted watching your back.
Nick pulled his mouth back just enough to separate them, and barked. But this was no normal bark. Nick felt his vocal cords expand as the bark came out in a shockwave of sound so thick and loud, it was as solid as a brick wall. Sorina flew off of him and crashed into a painting hanging above the door. She fell off the wall and landed.
"You little shit!" She screamed.
The door exploded into splinters and Jud, Luca, Alina, Crodut, and Doina all materialized into the room.
Judy saw Sorina, wearing only her underwear and bra, and immediately assumed the worst. The look of hurt, anger, and humiliation on her face made Nick feel like his heart was being cut in half. He appeared next to her and grabbed her in his arms.
"Judy, listen to me! Sorina attacked me. I'm not exactly sure what happened but I barked and she flew into the painting above the door. You know I would never cheat on you, Judy. I've told you about fox customs. To cheat on you is a fate worse than death. I would be shunned by my very species, who hold their reputations in such high standers. Foxes do not allow each other to be untrustworthy. I would be given a traitor's mark and be sentenced to exile. Do you understand me? I only have eyes for you. You are my wife, and that's that. No other girl will ever take your place. Judy?" Nick looked down at his bunny. Judy's head was down, her ears drooping. She looked up at Nick, tears in her eyes. She enveloped him in a hug.
"I believe you, Nick." She said into his shirt. Nick relaxed and kissed her on the head.
"I love you, Judy. I will never stop loving you."
The Sangelui family stood there, eyes wide in shock. Crodut was the first to recover. His face morphed into one of pure relentless fury.
He turned on Sorina who was on her knees, looking down, fists clenched.
"What the FUCK, SORINA!" He screamed. "ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?"
Sorina said nothing still looking down.
Crodut walked over and pulled her up by the arm.
"LOOK. AT. ME" Crodut growled.
Sorina lifted her head. Her eyes burned with anger and humiliation.
Crodut let go, pushing her back. She landed on the floor.
"You disgust me." Crodut stormed out of the room.
Doina shook her head.
"You fucked up, Sorina." Doina followed after Crodut.
Alina walked over to her daughter and helped her up.
"LEAVE. NOW. GO TO YOUR ROOM, AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE." Alina said in a quiet growl. She led Sorina out of the room.
Luca walked over to Nick and Judy, who were still holding each other.
"I apologize for my daughter's behavior, a thousand times," Luca said. "Nick, you said you barked, and… and Sorina flew black and slammed into the painting?"
Nick only nodded.
Luca stroked his chin.
Very interesting. He thought.
"Well, if you're still up for it, the hunt is in an hour. Sorina will no longer be joining us. Come down whenever you're ready. We'll wait 30 minutes before we head out." Luca walked out of the room.
Once he left, Judy lifted her head and looked up at Nick.
"I want to go on the hunt." She said.
"Are you sure?" He asked. Judy nodded.
"I don't want to be here, left alone with that bitch while her family's gone." She said.
"She won't do anything, Judy," Nick said.
"I'm not worried about her. I'm worried about what I might do to her if I'm here alone with her."
Nick smiled a bit. "That's my bunny."
Nick pulled her into a hug again.
Nick and Judy walked down the stairs. At the front doors, the family (minus Sorina) was waiting. They all smiled when they spotted them.
"Oh good! You're joining us then?" Alina asked.
"Yes mam, we are," Nick said.
The 6 of them walked out of the castle. Judy and Nick followed them to the wall on the left of the house. They all lined up. Crodut looked over at Nick and Judy.
"Just follow our lead." He said. Then the family jumped, sailing over the wall. Judy and Nick took a second but they jumped as well. They saw the 4 of them in a tree and landed in the branches next to them. The hey began to leap through the trees. Suddenly they came to the road. They swung around on branches to speed up and launched, sailing over the highway. They landed in the trees on the opposite side. They continued going for a good while. Finally, they came to a clearing filled with cattle. They dropped down and stood at the edge.
"Who's are these?" Judy asked.
"Don't, worry, they're ours," Luca said. He swung his arm gesturing across the pasture.
"Take your pick."
Judy and Nick found a nice thick-necked heifer. They crouched down in the grass, moving silently along. When they were a few feet away, they lunged and clamped their teeth down on the cow's neck, bringing it down. They drank their fill and headed back to the edge. Luca was holding two bags of blood.
"What are those for?" Nick asked, gesturing to the bags.
Luca held each one up.
"One is for Sorina, and the other is for Borya, our guard bear. He was born without fangs so he has to drink the blood out of a cup."
"Oh," Judy said.
They all lined up again and lept into the trees. They crossed the highway and flew over the wall.
Luca turned to Nick and Judy.
"Dinner is at 7:00 if you would like to eat here." He said. "If you would like to go somewhere, just ask Alexandru and he'll drive you where ever you want to go."
"Thank you, but I think we'll just head to our inside."
"We will?" Nick said. He wanted to go sightseeing. Judy motioned for him to bend down.
"I need to make you clean again," Judy whispered in his ear. Nick straightened and stretched out, giving an exaggerated yawn.
"Actually, I'm feeling pretty tired. I think we should just head to bed." He said, unconsciously licking his chops. Then he turned around and ran into the castle. Judy looked at the lynxes and the squirrel. They all had straight faces. She turned around and walked into the house after them. She only slightly heard the laughter coming from outside as she went up the stairs. Apparently, they had pretty good hearing. Or maybe Nick gave it away.
She decided it was Nick's fault.
Wow, that was a long one. This is actually kind of like two chapters. Anyways…
YES, YES, YES! NICK WILL NEVER BE UNFAITHFUL TO HIS BUNNY! Also, it now seems he has a super bark of some sort. We'll get into that later though. The next chapter will be called Training.
