Chapter 9: About Those Different-Colored Eyes
Sirius was looking through the window as he was watching the nightfall. His eyes began to glimmer as if he remembered something or someone. He took the photo from his drawer and looked at it in despair. There was a picture of him and the person next to him. He had very similar different-colored eyes just like his, but quite the opposite. Suddenly, Magpie showed up and stared at his photo for a moment.
"Hey Sirius, who's that guy next to you in the photo?" Magpie asked.
"That's my older brother," Sirius answered. "His name is...Black Krow."
"Ah, so...have you ever contacted him at all?"
"I had...But I haven't heard from him for a very long time. One of his allies told me that he died two years ago...and that was the last time I contacted him."
"Oh, that's quite a shock!"
"It is...Although, someone mentioned about who killed my brother. It's a tip of my tongue, but I don't remember who exactly..."
"It doesn't really matter at all. Anyways, are you going to invade Triforce or what?"
"Yeah, I'll go there now. As soon as I will remember, I will avenge my brother no matter what!"
Both Sirius and Magpie disappeared into thin air and started to invade Triforce whenever they got there.
At Triforce Island, Vicki was standing at the pier and felt the chilly breeze in the air. She was very curious of who the villains' leader was and why they were invading Triforce in the first place. Then, she realized that one of her enemies, she first encountered, looked awfully familiar to her. She didn't recall whether this enemy might be related to one of her past enemies or not. Suddenly, Robert hugged her from behind and put his chin on her shoulder to interrupt her thoughts.
"Hi Vicki, what's going on in your mind?" Robert asked.
"Oh hi Robert, n-nothing really," Vicki replied anxiously.
"Oh come on! You can tell me..." Robert slowly kissed Vicki on the lips before she could respond.
"Um, alright, but not here...Somewhere private will do."
Robert shrugged. "To my house, then?"
Vicki nodded. "Hmm, that will do."
When Vicki and Robert were heading to his house, Sammy and Jimmy ate their popcorn from the popcorn machine. Once they were done, they went to Nook's Cranny to look around for a bit. Suddenly, Sirius, Magpie, and the henchmen appeared out of nowhere. They quickly disguised themselves as pie makers and headed to Nook's Cranny. While Sirius and his men entered the shop, Magpie quickly flew on top of the ceiling and started to record the video.
"Hello everybody!" said Sirius enthusiastically. "We have lots of pies to sell! Come one and come all!"
"Ooh, really now?" Sammy grinned. "How much are they?"
"Each pie cost one hundred bells! Are you interested, good sir?"
"Yeah, so what kind of pies do you sell?" Jimmy asked.
"Well, let me see...We have cherry pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie, peach pie, lemon pie, and coconut cream pie with nuts!"
"Um...nuts?" Sammy and Jimmy puzzled.
"As in...nuts to you!" Sirius threw the coconut cream pies at Sammy and Jimmy. As soon as they tried to wipe them off from their faces, they suddenly fainted and fell to the floor.
After that, Sirius's men threw the pies at Timmy and Tommy. The little raccoons slowly fainted and collapsed to the floor. Sirius crashed into the room upstairs and checked on something, but nothing seemed to catch his eye. So, he and the others moved on to the next building, which it was the Able Sisters.
Sirius and his men entered the tailor's shop while Magpie was still recording the video. They immediately took out the cream pies and threw them at Mabel and Sable. Once the two hedgehogs were out cold, the enemies made a terrible mess in the shop. They even tore off the new fashion clothes, broke the new accessories, and made the holes on the new shoes. Sirius laughed joyfully and made an evil cackle.
Meanwhile at Robert's house, Robert made some tea and served the pumpkin pie that Franklin gave them on Harvest Festival when they were in their heroic versions. He shared the pie with Vicki so they could eat and drink together. Then, he asked her a question about what's in her mind lately.
"So, can you tell me of what's wrong lately?" Robert asked.
"Well, do you have a feeling that one of our current enemies can be related to one of our past enemies?" Vicki asked anxiously. "I mean, I had that hunch feeling that one of them could be related to either one of my past enemies or yours..."
"Ah, so that's what bothers you, huh? Well, for all we know is Mastermind Clown and Nightmare Mime are cousins, but they're dead already."
"Um, that was, so, like, last year, Robert. We're talking about this year."
"Yeah, I know. Although, there's one of our current enemies that may be related to one of my former villains due to her personality..."
"'Her?' You don't mean..."
"Well, I may have been wrong, but I don't know why it gives me goosebumps..."
"R-Right...But anyways, here's my opinion that bothers me..."
Vicki started to explain about one of the Deadly Stars could be related to one of her past enemies. When she first fought one of Teb's followers, Black Krow has different-colored eyes. His left eye was grey and his right eye was red, just like Sirius's, except the entertainer's eyes were in the opposite. Robert could finally understand the situation Vicki has so far.
"Ah, that makes sense now," said Robert. "If Sirius and Black Krow were related, then that means they're actually brothers?"
"I totally agree with that!"
"Hey! Hey! Is that the pie I smell?" someone asked, coming out of nowhere. Vicki and Robert slowly looked down and saw Wisp who was popping out of nowhere. They both shrieked and were very surprised to see him here.
"Hey Wisp, where did you come from?" Robert asked shockingly.
"Well, I am a guardian after all, and I can use teleportation you know!"
"Yeah, and here we are now!" someone else added, as Vicki turned around to see of who it was, Serena.
"No way, you guys are here, too?" said Vicki surprisingly, as she found Serena and Neon, too.
"Of course we are here, where else?" Neon shrugged.
"Okay, who wants pie?" Wisp asked happily. "We don't want it to go to waste, now do we?"
"I'll take a slice then," Serena answered politely.
"I'll just stick with the tea instead," Neon replied.
Before Serena and Wisp started to eat the pie, Robert hurried to grab the plates and gave each guardian a single plate. He also gave Neon a spare cup so he could pour the tea for him to enjoy. Vicki completely forgot about the conversation, she had with Robert, since the three guardians were here for the pumpkin pie and the tea. All of the sudden, Vicki sensed the evil force that had arrived in Triforce. She looked through the window and checked outside for a moment. Robert also looked through the window to see of what's going on.
"What is it, Vicki?" Robert asked.
"I thought I sensed the dark presence..." Vicki answered, "but there's no mistake to that whatsoever."
"Why don't we check it out for ourselves then?"
"Yeah, good idea!"
Vicki and Robert left the house and let the guardians enjoyed their time, they started to check out Nook's Cranny first. As soon as they entered, they found this place was nothing but a wreck by evil. The new furniture was destroyed, the cabinet was a terrible mess, and the decorations were ruined. Then, they found Timmy and Tommy lying on the floor unconscious with creams all over their faces. Not only them, but Sammy and Jimmy were also unconscious with creams all over their faces. Robert took a very small portion of the cream with his finger and sniffed it. After he smelled it, he made a vile look on his face and started to gag as he almost threw up.
"Timmy and Tommy never sell pies like these..." said Robert, wiping off the cream from his finger. "And those pies didn't smell like coconut cream at all, they're nothing but sleeping cream pies!"
"No kidding!" Vicki exclaimed. "Who would throw away sleeping cream pies at them?"
"That's what I like to know!"
After Vicki and Robert investigated Nook's Cranny, they decided to check out the Able Sisters next. When they were inside, they found out that it was too late. Mabel and Sable were unconscious with sleeping creams on their faces and the shop was a big mess, just like at Nook's Cranny. It looked as though the evil has already arrived in this building before the heroes showed up. They left the tailor's shop right away and needed to come up with the plan.
"Okay, we checked Nook's Cranny and Able Sisters so far," said Robert, reassuring to himself. "So, are there any places we haven't checked so far?"
"Well, we haven't check the museum, Resident Services, and Dodo Airlines," Vicki answered. "I will check the museum right now!"
"Then, I will check the Resident Services and possibly Dodo Airlines! Perhaps, one of these places where the villain must be inside right now! Let's go!"
Robert started to check the Resident Services first before he was heading to Dodo Airlines. Vicki was heading to the museum and suddenly found Blathers lying on the floor unconscious. Although, most owls slept during daytime, but she found his face covered with sleeping cream, and that would be the exception. Few seconds later, she heard a noise that was coming from one of the exhibits. This would only mean she could finally sensed the evil presence within the museum. Vicki took out her transformation microphone and began to transform into Phantom Angel.
"Angelic dream heart action!" Vicki shouted, as she was transformed into Phantom Angel. She looked around her surroundings, but she couldn't tell which exhibit the villain was in. So, she used her powers to track him down this instant. "Phantom sonic hearing!"
Phantom Angel placed her hands around her ears to detect the noise of where it's coming from. One minute later, she found out that the noise was coming from the fossil exhibit. So, she went there right away to catch that villain before he slipped away.
So, the enemy is here, in the museum, of course! Phantom Angel thought. I wonder what he could possibly be doing here!
As soon as Robert stopped running, he glanced at the museum where Vicki was investigating. He scratched his head for a moment and thought he heard a familiar voice somewhere. But he didn't see anyone at all.
"Huh, that was strange..." said Robert suspiciously. "Is it just me or did I heard Vicki's voice just now? I heard she mentioned something about the enemy who was...inside of the museum?!" Robert immediately tapped his transformation wristband and started to transform into Masked Swordmaster. "Knight dream star action!" And so, he was off to the museum.
Inside of the fossil exhibit, Sirius and his men were messing around the dinosaur bones and other fossil displays. When Magpie recorded the video, all they did was kicking the bones with their own feet as they could. None of them seemed to budge at all, and the enemies were very frustrated. All of the sudden, someone appeared through the entrance, and the evil crow moved the spy camera at the mysterious person with wings.
"Hey you jerks, you should never mess around with all the displays in this exhibit!" Phantom Angel exclaimed. "And you know what they say, 'You break it, you buy it!'"
"Oh sheesh, you're such an annoyance these days..." said Sirius sarcastically. "Henchmen, make her stop now!"
Phantom Angel fought against Sirius's henchmen all by herself without any hesitation. She had to be careful with the fossil displays without taking damage on any of them, especially the dinosaur bones. Few moments later, the angel already knocked the henchmen down without a sweat and was ready to face off against Sirius.
"Your turn, you novice showman!" said Phantom Angel.
"The name is Sirius, and I am not a novice nor a showman," said Sirius. "I'm the greatest entertainer you've ever seen!"
"Don't make me laugh! And you don't look so great to me!" When Phantom Angel took out the compact from her pocket, she suddenly noticed that her star compact has changed into the heart-shaped compact. So, she unleashed her attack right away. "Heavenly light blast!"
Sirius quickly dodged Phantom Angel's attack and ran very close to her. He immediately pinned her down to the floor and glared at her. As soon as she looked into his eyes, she noticed something very familiar about them. His different-colored eyes were the same as Black Krow's, except his right eye was grey and his left eye was red.
"Sirius, may I ask you something?" Phantom Angel asked, without hesitation. "Are you somewhat related to the guy named Black Krow?"
Sirius flinched and asked, "H-How did you know about him?! Since when and where?!"
Phantom Angel explained to Sirius that Black Krow was the first villain she encountered two years ago when she lived in StarLily. She later defeated him after she encountered him for the second time. After listening to Phantom Angel's explanation, this made Sirius's blood boiled in his veins as he grabbed her shoulders and glared at her in rage.
"So, it was you who killed him..." Sirius growled. "Y-You killed my brother! No wonder I haven't heard from him in two years! Now, it's time for you to suffer, and I will avenge my brother no matter what! Just...DIE!"
Sirius's fist glowed in darkness and started to attack Phantom Angel right away. The angel's eyes were full of fear that she couldn't even fight back. Until suddenly, she heard the voice somewhere that the entertainer could not for some reason.
Phantom Angel, I'm coming for you! That was Masked Swordmaster's voice inside of the angel's mind. H-Hang on! I'm coming!
Few seconds later, Sirius got kicked on the side and was thrown to the wall. Phantom Angel looked up and saw Masked Swordmaster who immediately saved her from the threatening entertainer. He was standing behind her in order to protect her of all cost, even if he risked his own life.
"You bastard, how dare you strike a girl, like her, with your own fist?" said Masked Swordmaster, glaring at Sirius. "I call that a disgrace and dishonor! You called yourself a gentleman? You should be ashamed to yourself, you know that? If you dare mess with her, then you'll have to deal with me first!"
"Shut up, pretty boy!" Sirius shouted. "Nobody told you to interfere my affairs between myself and the angel! So, you might as well back off!"
Sirius rushed to Masked Swordmaster with his fist glowing with darkness. As he was ready to throw his punch at him, Masked Swordmaster quickly dodged his punch and grabbed his wrist. He pulled him by the arm and hit his stomach with his knee. After he released his arm, he punched his face and hurled him to the floor. Sirius was in a bad shape after he got defeated by the white knight. The entertainer decided to retreat and gave the Duo of Justice a warning that he would return next time for his revenge. When Sirius disappeared into thin air, Masked Swordmaster checked on Phantom Angel whether she was hurt or not.
"Are you okay?" Masked Swordmaster asked. "Did that guy tried to hurt you?"
Phantom Angel shook her head and answered, "No, I'm alright... Quick question, how did you know where I am? Or did you realized that I was in danger?"
"Oh well, that sounds like a big question to me... You see, I've been hearing your voice inside of my head for the first time just a while ago."
"No way! I've been hearing your voice inside of my head, too! I mean, just in few minutes ago before you showed up, of course..."
"I wonder if this could be the new skill we've unlocked somehow..."
"That's right, and it's called 'mind communication!'" someone replied, as the Duo of Justice turned around and finally found Wisp right behind them.
"Wisp?!" said the dynamic duo surprisingly.
"Where on earth did you come from?" Phantom Angel asked.
"As I said before, I used my teleportation powers to teleport myself to the different location," Wisp explained.
"Um, okay..." said Masked Swordmaster anxiously. "But anyways, can you explain the mind communication skill?"
"Absolutely! The mind communication is you can communicate your ally within the minds directly, not just the guardians, like myself! Just in case if either of you are in trouble, you can use it right away whether you're near or far from each other."
"Ah, that might be useful!" said Phantom Angel.
"Yeah, it comes in handy though," Masked Swordmaster agreed.
"Indeed, it is!" said Wisp happily.
Few hours after encountering Sirius, Vicki was watching the snowfall from the sky. She caught the tiny snowflake by the palm of her hand and watched it melt in a second. She remembered of what Sirius said to her that he really was related to Black Krow. He also mentioned that he would kill her in order to avenge his older brother. Vicki immediately shook off that thought and tried to forget all of this.
"Hey Vicki, what's up?" Robert asked calmly.
"Hey Robert, things are going on in my mind right now," Vicki answered.
"Oh yeah? Is this about Sirius and his older brother? Right?"
Vicki nodded and sighed in despair. "Yeah...and his threat is starting to creep me out now."
"Don't let that guy get to you, okay? And it's a good thing that I rescued you, so don't forget that!"
"Yeah, I know...But if you hadn't showed up in time, then Sirius would've killed me this instant."
Vicki immediately hugged Robert for comfort and cuddled him for just a bit. His face was turning red while her face was buried on one of his shoulders. He placed his hand on her head and their eyes were met. When the snow was still falling from the sky, they began to kiss each other without any hesitation or resist the snowy air.
