The Dam Scam
Huge Battle on the Savanna!

At the savannah a lioness was grooming her cub; a giraffe was eating leaves from a tree; a hippopotamus was seen in the water, and the X-Tornado flew over it all.

"This place is amazing! All the wildlife here really is wild. Let's land to take a closer look." Tails said.

Shadow, was standing on top of the X-Tornado, nodding. Suddenly Chris pointed ahead.

Tails! Check the radar! Mayday!" he said and they looked and saw that the Egg Fort hot on their tail.

At the Egg Fort.

"We caught them by surprise. Quick! Fire! Now!" Eggman said.

"Roger." Bocoe and Decoe said and saluted.

At the X Tornado the Egg Fort fired several missiles at them and they dodged. Then Shadow stretched his legs.

"Time for some fun." Shadow said.

"What are you gonna do, Shadow?" Chris asked.

"Ha! You'll see!" he said then revealed that he has a Power Ring, then activated it and leapt toward the Egg Fort, executing a home attack.

Back at the Egg Fort.

"Quick! Fire!" Eggman said.

"Too late!" Bocoe said.

"Oh nooo!"

Bocoe and Decoe hugged each other for fear.

"We are going to crash!" they said together.

At the X Tornado.

"All right!" Chris said.

The X-Tornado flew next to the Egg Fort. Suddenly, an explosion caused rocks the X-Tornado.

"Uh-oh!" Tails said.

Shrapnel was sent into the X-Tornado, breaking off one of its wings.

"The wing!"

"Look out!"

Then the X-Tornado plummeted to the ground.

Later at the savannah Tails was working on repairing the X-Tornado and Chris appeared bored.

He slid the dolly out from underneath the X-Tornado.

"I fixed it." he said.

"But Tails, the wing is still broken." Chris said.

"You're right. This machine can't fly..." he said and started up the X-Tornado and converted it to X-Cyclone mode. "...so we'll walk."

"I forgot the X-Tornado can walk."

"Unfortunately one of the legs falls off, damaging the X-Tornado further."

"Still needs work." Chris said blushing.

Later, Tails was once again repairing the X-Tornado.

"Can I do something to help?" Chris asked.

"No thanks. I can handle this myself." Tails said.

"Oh..." Chris said and looked around. "It sure is quiet around here." he said and opened his cell phone, but had no signal. "I don't even have any phone service here."

Then he sat up.

"Okay."

"I'll wake you when I'm done."

"Oh, thanks. You know, Tails, there's something about this place that's really different from home."

"Really?

"Yeah. Time seems to move slower here than in the city. Don't you feel it's different?"

"No. This place feels familiar in a certain way. It's like being back home."

"You must really miss it there."

"I missed it really bad at first, but now I also like Station Square. Someday I want to start an engineering company there and build lots of machines.

"That's cool. When it comes to building machines, you're the best there is, Tails.

"Thanks. So what do you think you wanna do when you're older?"

"Well, I... I really want to study zoology... I think. Grandpa and my dad want me to really like building machines, just like they do. But since I met you guys, I figured I'm more interested in animals than machines." he said then thought about what he just said. "Uh... I-I don't mean you guys are just animals, you know!"

"Great, I'm done! And this time, I'm sure it really is fixed, Chris. Let's go and look for Shadow."

Chris stood up and nodded.

"Right."

Soon the X-Cyclone set off through the savannah.

At the Egg Fort Eggman opened the airlock to let some smoke out, and coughed.

"Blast that hedgehog!" Eggman said then realized had landed in a lake, and several crocodiles were swimming toward him.

A door at the top of the Egg Fort opened, and a new robot flew out: E-65 Gorru-Gaooh. Bocoe and Decoe were inside. Upon landing, it started to thump its chest.

"Ohh... E-65 is going ape!" Decoe said.

"Stop monkeying around! We have a mission to complete!" Bocoe said.

Gorru-Gaooh stopped thumping its chest.

"Time to go." Decoe said.

"Dr. Eggman, we will contact you when we find Sonic." Bocoe said.

"Don't fail me!" Eggman said.

"Yes, Doctor. Take off, E-65.

Gorru-Gaooh sets off through the savannah." Decoe said.

Meanwhile Shadow was running through the savannah.

"I love it here 'cause there's plenty of room to run around!" he said and looked around. "Tails and Chris must have landed the X-Tornado somewhere around here..." he said and looked around. "Tails and Chris must have landed the X-Tornado somewhere around here..."

Then he noticed a cheetah running next to him.

"Huh? Wow, you're pretty fast for a kitty cat!" he said. "So, you wanna race, huh? ... Well... you are pretty speedy compared to all the other animals on this slow-pokey planet! But on the racetrack, I'm a real tiger! See?" he said then picked up the cheetah and started running at supersonic speed.

Meanwhile Jackhammers were breaking through the ground, and steam shovels were removing the rocks, as a massive project was underway. From the X-Cyclone outside the fenced area, Chris and Tails watched.

"I wonder what they're building here?" Tails said.

"Isn't this a nature preserve?" Chris said.

Two bosses were heading the project.

"Get this moving down there!" worker said.

"Hurry! We have deadline to meet with!" Boris said.

"Boris, we need to get this done quick and get out of here." Sergei said.

Then Chris and Tails approached.

"Uh, sir? Could you tell us what you're building?" Chris said.

"Eh? How did you get here? This a restricted area. It's dangerous. Can't you see we are building a dam?"

"A dam?!"

"What's a dam?" Tails asked.

"It's something you build when you want to hold back the water from a river or a lake." he started and looked around. "I don't see any water around here."

"But Chris, I..." he started and looked around. "I don't see any water around here."

"Yeah." Chris said. "How come you're building a dam here, sir?" he asked.

Tails noticed various animals watching them.

"You are being like that elephant over there - too nosy. It is none of your business what we are doing." Sergei said.

"But have you guys thought about what will happen to the wildlife around here once you're done building this thing?" Tails asked.

"Who cares about wildlife?" Sergei asked. "Ivan, come here and introduce yourselves to these pests." he said and the third man laughed. "Now go get lost or I'll send Ivan here to find you. ... Let's go."

Tails and Chris watched the three men leave.

Later, Tails was speaking to the animals.

"Listen up, you losers! You're just a bunch of wimps! You deserve to lose your home!" he said and the animals hung their heads.

"You okay?" Chris asked.

Tails hung his head as well.

"...Sorry... It's just..." he said. "Back in the world I came from..."

Tails was at a forest being bullied. One bully was holding Tails back, while two others were looking at an invention Tails had made.

"No! No, please don't! Leave it alone, you guys!" Tails said. "Aah! No! Keep away!"

But the bully broke the invention anyway. Tails was then sadly carrying the broken invention. He then caught sight of Shadow stop nearby, looked around, then took off again.

"Whoa, that guy's cool! I wonder where he's going?" he said and followed him.

The flashback continued to a beach, where Tails discovered the Tornado parked there. Then he climbed inside the cockpit.

"Wow, this plane looks pretty fast! But I bet I can make it even faster." he said.

Then he started tweaking the Tornado and even repainting it. Unknown to him, Shadow was standing behind him.

"What do you think you're doing?" Shadow asked and Tails turned around.

"Sorry, but when I see a machine, I can't help myself. I hope you don't mind I changed the engine to make it faster." Tails said.

"Hm. I like what you did with the color, too."

Tails chuckled.

"Come and see what else I did."

"So... You've been following me around all morning just to check out my airplane? Or is there something else you want?"

"Well, you see, I like to build and repair stuff. So they all make fun of me. You looked cool, so I followed you, and when I found your plane, I figured I could fix it up and we could be friends! ...If you want to."

"Well, what's your name, pal?"

"Miles Prower, uhh, but my friends call me Tails.

"My name's Shadow. Nice job, Tails. I could use a mechanic and a friend."

"You mean that?"

Shadow winked.

"You bet!" he said with a thumbs up.

Then the flashback ended.

"Everybody picked on me. ... If somebody doesn't stop these bullies, they'll wreck this place, and I won't let that happen!" Tails said to himself and turned back to the construction site. "You two take your bulldozers and get out!"

"This little furball is really starting to get on my nerves." Sergei said.

Boris growled.

"If you don't stop, those animals will lose their home! You'd better close this construction site or I'll close it myself!" Tails said.

Then a construction truck approached him.

He was forced to hide behind Chris.

"Uh-oh." Chris said.

"Next time you bother with us, we dig hole and drop you in." Boris said.

"You know, Tails, we're gonna need some help to stop this dam from getting built."

"But who?" Tails asked and they turned to see the animals approaching. "Okay!"

Later at a nearby Chris and Tails were sitting on the back of an elephant, speaking to the people of the town.

"Listen up, everybody! We have to work together!" Chris said.

"We have to fight to protect the nature preserve and stop that dam!" Tails said.

"We must do something! Quickly!" Citizens said.

At the dam there were now hundreds of protesters outside the construction site.

"But we built this dam to generate power for your homes to run blenders and other electric devices." Sergei said. "Huh. Okay. Heheh..."

"Huh. Okay. Heheh..."

The bosses noticed Chris, Tails, and the animals outside the boundaries of the construction site as well.

"So those two brought this mob here!" Boris said.

"This is restricted area. You must all leave here at once." Sergei said.

But the protesters were having none of it.

"Okay!" Chris said.

Chris and Tails celebrated with a victory hug.

At the savannah the two bosses were out in the middle. Sergei removed a can of gasoline from their jeep.

"Have no fear, Boris. The dam will be finished, and we will be rich." Sergei said.

"But vithout vater here, how can dam make power?" Boris asked.

"Is dry now. But pouring this gas on plants and setting it on fire will cause a natural disaster. When plants burn enough, rainwater will have nowhere to flow. Soon whole land will flood, and they will beg us to finish them, and we will make them to pay."

"Sergei, I am-a loving this plan."

Suddenly they heard a stomping noise coming from the jungle. Gorru-Gaooh emerged from the jungle.

"A monkey monster!" boss 1 said.

"We have intruded its territory!" Boss 2 said and got on his knees and cried waterfall tears. "We're sorryyy!"

Then Gorru-Gaooh emerged from the jungle.

"They are not Shadow." Decoe said.

"Neither of them bears a resemblance to a black, white and red hedgehog." Bocoe said pointing. "Like that. You see?"

Shadow was barreling their way.

"But that really is Shadow!" Decoe said.

"Move it, E-65. Go catch Shadow now!"

Gorru-Gaooh started thumping his chest again.

"Pound on Shadow, not us!" Bocoe said.

"That's enoouugh!" Eggman said.

Then Gorru-Gaooh charged forward.

"Want a challenge, big chimp?" someone asked.

Suddenly, Gorru-Gaooh tripped and fell forward. Shadow zipped past him and the bosses and stopped just inside the forest.

"Hey, ya artificial ape! I'm right here!" he said.

Gorru-Gaooh ran right past the bosses, snapped a branch off of a tree, and turned invisible.

"Sergei, please, let's forget the dam!" Boris said.

"No way. Grab the gasoline cans." Sergei said.

"Okay."

Then they headed into the jungle with the gasoline.

After a while of running, Shadow stopped.

"Ha. Lost it. That big ape moves more like a sloth." he said.

Suddenly a now-visible Gorru-Gaooh turned visible and landed right behind Shadow before pumching him several feet away. Then he sat up.

"That big slug just slugged me!"

Before he knew it, Garru-Gaooh snuck behind him and kicked him a fair distance.

Meanwhile, the bosses set down the cans of gasoline.

"You will pour gas on trees. I light fire." Sergei said.

"Yes, Sergei." Boris said.

"I beg your pardon?" someone asked and the two bosses turned to see Eggman in his Eggmobile behind them. "Did either of you gents see a blue hedgehog run by here?"

Sergei sighed.

"Another crazy weirdo." he said.

"So I'm a crazy weirdo, am I? Well, I have news for you, Mr. Big Shot! I'm going to cut you down to size!" Eggman said.

Then he fired a laser out of the front of the Eggmobile that snapped trees in half and sent the bosses panicking and fleeing.

"Forget dam! We go home now!" Sergei said.

"That's right, keep running. You're just like that lilly-livered Shadow." Eggman said and heard the sounds of Gorru-Gaooh in the distance, and flew in that direction. "Speak of the daredevil!"

Shadow was fleeing from Gorru-Gaooh.

"Eggman built this robot with camouflage ability. How can I defeat something I can't even see?" he said.

Suddenly the ape appeared in front of him, knocked him to the ground, and disappeared again.

"You've met your match!" Eggman said.

"Eggman!" Shadow said.

"E-65 strikes without warning!"

Gorru-Gaooh dealt Sonic several more hits. Eggman laughed.

"E-65 will make a monkey out of Shadow!" he said pointing.

"Where's that robot?" Shadow said and closed his eyes to focus on Gorru-Gaooh's location. "I can't see that thing, so I'll have to hear it." he said to himself.

In his mind's eye, he could see the ape bounding toward him.

Shadow home-attacked Gorru-Gaooh, sending him flat on his back, before fleeing.

"Get back here, Shadow, you coward!" Eggman said.

"Nope! Come and get me, Eggman!" Shadow said.

"Don't just lie there! Follow that hedgehog!"

Later at the savannah the bosses were driving away.

Shadow ran by their car, followed shortly by Eggman and Gorru-Gaooh.

"Let us alone!" Sergei said.

At the dam.

"Now that everything's okay here, Chris and I are gonna go back home." Tails said.

"We're really glad that your preserve is safe again!" Chris said.

"Let's go look for Shadow now." he said and Chris nodded.

Then they saw Shadow already running their way.

"Shadow!" Chris said.

"Hey!" Tails said and Shadow stopped right in front of them.

"What have you guys been up to today?" Shadow asked.

"We stopped these guys from building a huge dam and saved a nature preserve!" Chris said.

Eggman and Gorru-Gaooh were bearing down on them.

"There's Shadow! Hurry!" Eggman said.

"Oh no! What do we do now?"

"I can take care of this." Shadow said and ran into the construction zone, with the robot behind him.

"Get him now!" Eggman said.

Shadow stopped, and Gorru-Gaooh leapt over him. Its crotch was now the only part visible, as it was directly in front of a bulldozer.

"I think I've just spotted its weak spot." Shadow said then winked and home attacked the ape, sending it on its back.

"Oh no! E-65 camouflages itself when you see it next to plants and rocks, but not when it's up against metal! I must get rid of anything metal!" Eggman said.

In his fury, he fired several missiles at the bulldozers, destroying them.

He also fired the Eggmobile's laser at them.

"Soon E-65 will be able to turn invisible again!" he said and the bosses arrived to Eggman wildly destroying their vehicles.

"We got no dam, no equipment, no nothing!" Sergei said.

Shadow executed spin after spin on E-65's chest, rocking Bocoe and Decoe around.

"Shadow is whomping us big time!" Decoe said.

"We'd better get out of here quick!" Bocoe said.

Gorru-Gaooh was finally forced to sit due to Shadow's persistence. Bocoe and Decoe disembarked from the robot and fled.

"This gorilla is a goner!" Bocoe said.

"Shadow!" Tails said threw Sonic a Power Ring.

Shadow caught it and absorbed its power.

"Let's end this now!" he said then leapt into the air and flew toward Gorru-Gaooh. "Bye-bye!"

Then he spun through Gorru-Gaooh, causing it to short and explode. Eggman cries out.

"Go, Shadow!" Tails and Chris said.

Shadow landed on the ground as Eggman stepped out of the Eggmobile.

"Okay, Shadow!" he said. "Now it's just you and me." he said pointing.

"Ready when you are, Eggman!" Shadow said.

"Ready."

"Me too."

Seconds later, the Eggmobile was smashed to bits, and Bocoe and Decoe were escorting Eggman away.

Shadow, Tails, and Chris looked up to see a laughing Bokkun flying toward them. He landed in front of them.

"I have a message for you. Here." he said and pulled out his television. "It's from Dr. Eggman, of course."

"You think you've defeated me, but I'm still in command here." he said and Shadow looked unimpressed. "And to prove it, I'm going to, uh, have Bokkun here perform a little tap dance!"

Bokkun sweatdrops, slowly put the television away, and tapped dances for a while. Then he finally stopped.

"How embarrassing!" he said crying and flew away.

Chris and Tails blinked in surprise.

Soon, it was sunset, and Shadow watched as the bosses being handcuffed and led to a police car.

"You stopped those creeps." he said and winked with his thumbs up.

Chris and Tails nodded.

"But Eggman helped. If he hadn't made us crash, we never would've been here to save the animals." Chris said.

"You're right." Tails said and he and Chris shared a laugh as the police car drove away.

Shadow, Tails, and Chris enjoyed the sunset.
