It's been a few days since Naruto's return to the group and it's been mostly calm and relaxing. Naruto was up earlier than everyone as he wanted to go out on a morning run before getting the day started. He was staring at the birds chirping over the water that was flowing near them and ignored Aang waking up. The birds flew away because they sensed danger and LuLi must've sensed it as well because she immediately flew up into the clouds.
A fire nation bomb came flying near them and Aang acted quickly, by using his airbending to knock it away from them causing it to explode waking everyone else up. More came and Aang ran forward only to come face to face with 3 fire nation airships shooting more bombs at them. Aang used his airbending and shut the metal doors around them, but the bombs kept coming causing some of the roof to fall.
"WATCH OUT." Zuko yelled as he tackled Katara out of the way from falling debris
"What are you doing?!" Katara asked
"Keeping rocks from crushing you." Zuko said
"Ok, I'm not crushed. You can get off me now." Katara said as she got up and ran towards the fight
"I'll take that as a thank you." Zuko said
"Well, Azula's here." Naruto thought
""Come on. We can get out through here." Toph said as she created a tunnel and everyone ran for it except for Appa
"What are you doing?" Aang asked Zuko and Naruto as he was pulling on Appa
"Go ahead. We'll hold them off. I think this is a family visit." Zuko said
"Zuko, no!" Aang said
"Come on, we've gotta get out of here." Sokka said to Aang
Zuko and Naruto
Zuko and Naruto ran forward jumping over a wall of debris and they both shot a fire ball towards one of the airships. Zuko destroyed a bomb, while Naruto managed to destroy the entire cannon on one of the airships. They stopped when a fourth airship rose up, revealing Azula and Ty Lee standing there.
Azula briefly made eye contact with Naruto who just raised an eyebrow and looked at the other three warships as if asking if this was really needed. Azula replied with a shrug that Zuko couldn't see because of how slight it was. Ty Lee looked at Naruto and cracked a grin of her own which Zuko caught, but didn't pay any mind to since this is how Ty Lee always acted around him.
"What are you doing here?" Zuko asked
"You mean it's not obvious yet? I am about to celebrate becoming an only child!" Azula said
She flipped over her railing and shot a huge fireball from her feet at Zuko and he was sent flying back to the ground. Naruto shot a weak fireball at Ty Lee which she easily dodged and then he flew up to her and began to fight. He had to admit, Ty Lee most certainly didn't slack off in her training, but he knows her every move and won't allow her to hit him.
"Just let me hit you one time!" Ty Lee said
"Hell no! I let you do that once and one time turned into 20 times. Besides, if we're to make this believable, do you really think you getting a hit on me would be believable?" Naruto asked as he ducked out of the way from a kick
"I guess not. Azula knows I'm an airbender now. Thanks for not telling her." Ty Lee said as she jumped out of the way
"No problem. It wasn't my secret to tell. I know how much it meant to you. All this time you were different from your sisters, except you all look the same." Naruto said
"True, but I couldn't exactly tell them I was an airbender. Ty Woo would probably tell our mom who was really loyal to the fire lord." Ty Lee said
"True. Anything happening with the fire lord I should know about?" Naruto asked deflecting a punch
"He's been surprisingly quiet in his plans as of late. Not even Azula knows. She said that she'll send a messenger hawk to you if anything changes." Ty Lee said
"Make sure she removes the fire nation emblem from the hawk. I really don't want to make up another excuse as to why I'm getting a fire nation hawk." Naruto said
"Can't you just lie to them?" Ty Lee asked
"I can, but sometimes I'd rather not be bothered doing that." Naruto said and they heard an explosion and looked to see both Azula and Zuko falling off of the airship
"I guess that's our que to leave." Ty Lee said
"I'll see you later. Give this to Azula for me." Naruto said as he placed a small bag in her hand
"What is it?" Ty Lee asked
"You'll see when you give it to her. By the way, I'm sorry." Naruto said
"For what?" Ty Lee asked
He knocked her out with a chop to the neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He made sure she was safe and watched Katara save Zuko as they flew away on Appa. He jumped off the air ship and LuLi quickly came in and flew away with him. Azula made her way back onto the airship with her firebending and landed next to Ty Lee who was out cold. She sighed and picked her up before taking her back into the airship.
Airship
"How'd it go?" Mai asked
"I think it went pretty well." Azula said as she put Ty Lee down
"What happened to her?" Mai asked
"She fought Naruto." Azula said
"I'm guessing he knocked her out at the end to make everything look as real as possible. What's that in her hand?" Mai asked and Azula grabbed the little bag and opened it
"It's a pai sho tile." Azula said
"What does it mean?" Mai asked
"I don't know. Naruto's like our uncle when it comes to these things so I don't even bother to understand it." Azula said as Ty Lee groaned and sat up
"Ugh. My head. What happened?" Ty Lee asked
"Naruto knocked you out." Azula said
"Oh yeah. I'll get him back for that sooner or later. So what's new?" Ty Lee asked
"Naruto gave us a pai sho tile." Azula said and showed it to Ty Lee
"The white lotus tile? Why?" Ty Lee asked
"We don't know. Then again, we don't really know much when Naruto drops hints. So, did he let you get a hit this time?" Azula asked
"No. He said it's because the last time he gave me a free hit I hit him 20 times." Ty Lee said pouting
"Well, you won that time right?" Mai asked
"No. I still lost. Let's see I've known him since I was 4. So that's 12-13 years of me losing to him!" Ty Lee said agitated
"Wow. I thought you were dangerous Ty Lee." Mai said
"I am! Do not patronize me!" Ty Lee said and accidentally used her airbending and blew the table over to the wall
"Oops." Ty Lee said
"Did you use your airbending against him?" Mai asked
"No. Not with the others so close by. If they weren't around I would've used it." Ty Lee said
"Enough about the fight. Any plans for after the war?" Azula asked
"I plan on locking me and Naruto in a room for about 2 months." Ty Lee said with a grin
"I don't really have any plans. Maybe I'll just sit and watch the days go by." Mai said
"Oh please. We all know that you'll be all over Zuko once he returns." Ty Lee said and Mai blushed
"Oooh is that a blush I see Mai?" Ty Lee asked
"Shut up. What about you Azula?" Mai asked
"Well. Naruto told me if I found anything about my mother's whereabouts, that we can go look for her and bring her back to the fire nation." Azula said
"Who'll watch the throne while you're gone?" Ty Lee asked
"I'm not taking the throne." Azula said
"Why not?" Mai asked
"Yeah. I thought that's what you've always wanted." Ty Lee said
"No. That's what my father always wanted. He wanted me on the throne after him and not Zuko. I've done too many evil things and if the world should start living in peace, then Zuko has to take the throne." Azula said
"Then after you find your mom, what will you do?" Ty Lee asked
"I don't know. See wherever the world takes me I guess. Take everything one day at a time. I've never really had any freedom to do anything. It's all new to me. Being able to just walk around without guards watching over me, it's different." Azula said
"Well me and Mai will be with you every step of the way." Ty Lee said
"Yeah. After you're done screwing your boyfriend's brains out." Azula said
"Hey! It's been a minute!" Ty Lee said
"You just saw him on ember island." Mai said
"Yeah and it's been like 3 years since I've seen him before that. I have needs!" Ty Lee said
"Whatever." Mai said
"Remind me again why I keep you two around." Azula said
"Because you love us." Ty Lee said and pulled both of them in for a group hug
"You tell anyone about this and I'll become your worst nightmare." Mai said hugging her back
"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me." Azula said and they all began laughing

"Wow, camping. It really seems like old times again, doesn't it?" Aang asked as everyone was sitting around the campfire
"If you really want it to feel like old times, I could uh, chase you around for a while and try to capture you." Zuko said
Everyone laughed except Naruto and Katara. Naruto was too busy thinking about the war that was finally about to end and how everyone would react when they find out that Azula's on their side. Katara was silent to her hatred of Zuko and she didn't hold back letting it be known.
"Ha-Ha." Katara said
"To Zuko. Who knew after all those times he tried to snuff us out today he'd be our hero." Sokka said
"Here here." Everyone said
"I'm touched. I don't deserve this." Zuko said
"Yeah, no kidding." Katara said and left
"What's with her?" Sokka asked
"I wish I knew." Zuko said and went after her
"What's with him?" Sokka asked
"They have some issues to sort out." Naruto said and followed them
"What kind of issues?" Sokka asked and everyone else shrugged

Katara was standing alone at the cliff looking up the moon and had a sad look on her face. She heard somebody walking up to her and once she saw it was Zuko, she quickly replaced it with a look of anger and walked away.
"This isn't fair. Everyone else seems to trust me now. What is it with you?" Zuko asked
"Oh, everyone trusts you now? I was the first person to trust you, remember?! Back in Ba Sing Se. You turned around and betrayed me, betrayed all of us!" Katara said
"What can I do to make it up to you?" Zuko asked
"You really want to know? Hmm, maybe you could reconquer Ba Sing Se in the name of the earth king. Or, I know, you could bring my mother back!" Katara said and walked away bumping his shoulder
"Katara." Naruto said as she was walking
"What?!" Katara asked rather harshly
"Drop the attitude and come with me." Naruto said and started walking
"What if I don't want to?!" Katara asked
"I didn't ask if you wanted to or not. However, if you need some assistance, that can be arranged." Naruto said and he dragged his foot on the ground causing Katara to slide next to him
"I don't have time for a lecture." Katara said
"You better make time." Naruto said and she sighed
"What do you want? Here to take up for your cousin?" Katara asked sarcastically
"Drop the sarcasm. Why are you mad at Zuko?" Naruto asked
"He's been hunting us down for the past couple of months. He attacked my home. He betrayed me in Ba Sing Se and he killed my mother!" Katara said
"How old were you when your mother was killed?" Naruto asked
"I was 8." Katara said
"So that means Zuko was 10 when she died." Naruto said
"So?" Katara asked
"So, you're blaming Zuko for something that happened when he was still a little kid. Why?" Naruto asked
"Because he's from the fire nation! He was a part of the fire nation when she died!" Katara said
"Then why aren't you mad at me?" Naruto asked
"What? Why would I be mad at you?" Katara asked
"I killed your mother." Naruto said
"No you didn't." Katara said
"Yes, I did. I was 11 when she died and I was still a part of the fire nation. You said Zuko was with the fire nation so he killed her. By that logic then I killed your mother as well." Naruto said
"No, you didn't kill her." Katara said
"Then how did Zuko kill her? He was still a kid." Naruto said
"Ok, maybe he didn't kill her, but he still attacked my home!" Katara said
"I highly doubt you can call what he did an attack. He told me about it. Nothing went down. He kept his word, if Aang turned himself in, then he wouldn't attack. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Sokka and Aang attack him?" Naruto asked
"Yeah, but he was going to do it regardless! He grabbed my Gran-Gran and was going to kill her!" Katara said
"One thing I know about Zuko is that he won't kill anybody. Yeah, he may act like a dick and threaten you, but he won't kill you. Well, he might kill somebody, but it wouldn't be a mother or grandmother." Naruto said
"Why are you trying to make him seem like a good guy?" Katara asked
"I'm not. The thing is, you're letting your hatred of whoever killed your mother affect the way you are towards Zuko. Yeah, he betrayed you in Ba Sing Se, but did you really think he'd just change his ways so easily? He was practically mentally unstable back then and now he's normal or as normal as he can get." Naruto said
"So I should forgive him like nothing happened?!" Katara asked
"No. You have every right to be mad at him for the things he's personally done to you, but I think you know you can forgive him for that. As for your mother, you should really let that anger towards her killer not cloud your judgement of Zuko. Perhaps a field trip with him will help." Naruto said
"I am not going on a field trip with just Zuko. That will never happen." Katara said
"Never say never, Katara. Never say never." Naruto said and walked away
Next morning
Katara woke up and when she left her tent, Zuko was sitting there with his head down. He's been there all night and waited for her to come out.
"You look terrible." Katara said
"I waited out here all night." Zuko said
"What do you want?" Katara asked brushing her hair
"I know who killed your mother. I'm going to help you find him." Zuko said
"Do not play with me." Katara said
"I'm not. I talked to Sokka last night and he told me what happened. I think I know where the person responsible is." Zuko said
"Let's go." Katara said
"I'll pack a bag." Zuko said
Zuko packed a bag with clothes and food for their little trip. Katara was too busy glaring at Naruto who had a smirk on his face to notice Zuko standing there. She finally noticed him and then they walked over to Aang who was feeding Appa.
"I need to borrow Appa." Katara said
"Why? Is it your turn to take a little field trip with Zuko?" Aang asked being funny
"Yes, it is." Katara said and Aang grew jealous
"Oh...What's going on?" Aang asked
"We're going to find the man who took my mother from me." Katara said
"Sokka told me the story of what happened. I know who did it and I know how to find him." Zuko said
"Um and what exactly do you think this will accomplish?" Aang asked and Katara just scoffed at him
"I knew you wouldn't understand." Katara said and started to walk away
"Wait, stop. I do understand. You're feeling unbelievable pain and rage. How do you think I felt about the sandbenders when they stole Appa? How do you think I felt about the fire nation when I found out what happened to my people?" Aang asked
"She needs this Aang. This is about getting closure and justice." Zuko said
"I don't think so. I think this about getting revenge." Aang said
"Fine, maybe it is. Maybe that's what I need. Maybe that's what he deserves." Katara said
"Katara, you sound like Jet." Aang said
"It's not the same. Jet attacked the innocent. This man, he's a monster." Katara said
"Katara, she was my mother too. But I think Aang might be right." Sokka said
"Then you didn't love her the way I did." Katara said
"Katara." Sokka said in shock
"The monks used to say that revenge is like a two-headed rat viper. While you watch your enemy go down, you're being poisoned yourself." Aang said
"That's cute, but this isn't air temple preschool. It's the real world." Zuko said
"Now that I know he's out there. Now that I know we can find him. I feel like I have no choice." Katara said
"Katara, you do have a choice. Forgiveness." Aang said
"That's the same as doing nothing." Zuko said
"No, it's not. It's easy to do nothing, but it's hard to forgive." Aang said
"It's not hard, it's impossible." Katara said and walked away
"Just let her go." Naruto said
"Why?! She should forgive him!" Aang said
"She'll forgive him, but she'll never forget him." Naruto said
"Huh? What do you mean?" Aang asked
"She can forgive him for killing her mother, but she'll never forget about him killing her. You want her to live her life knowing the man that killed her mother is alive and you want him to walk away freely. That's the problem with you airbenders. You always want to take the high road. I guarantee the air nomads may have forgiven you for running away, but they never forgot it. I bet they stayed up waiting countless hours of the night waiting for you to return only to never see you again. Just let her go. It's her decision on what she wants to do. Don't stand in her way because then you'll give her no choice other than to go right through you." Naruto said
"You think she'll attack me?" Aang asked
"If you're standing in the way of her confronting her mother's killer, then yeah I do. I doubt she'll hesitate to attack you." Naruto said and walked away
Night
"So you were just gonna take Appa anyway?" Aang asked Katara as he and Sokka jumped from behind a rock
"Yes." Katara said
"It's ok, because I forgive you. Does that give you any ideas?" Aang asked
"Don't try to stop us." Katara said
"I wasn't planning to. This is a journey you need to take. You need to face this man. But when you do, please don't choose revenge. Let your anger out and then let it go. Forgive him." Aang said
"Ok, well be sure to do that, Guru goody-goody." Zuko said and climbed on Appa
"Thanks for understanding, Aang. Yip yip." Katara said and Appa flew off
"You know, you're pretty wise for a kid." Sokka said
"Thanks, Sokka." Aang said
"Usually it's annoying, but right now I'm just impressed." Sokka said
"I appreciate that." Aang said
"So, can I borrow MoMo for a week?" Sokka asked
"Why do you need MoMo?" Aang asked and Sokka just shrugged
"Well, I'll see you guys in a few days." Naruto said carrying a bag
"Where are you going?" Toph asked
"I need to check on something." Naruto said
"Is it that important that you have to leave now?" Toph asked
"Yeah, but I'll be back. In the meantime, you get to train Aang how I trained you." Naruto said and Toph gained an evil grin
"Sweet." Toph said and looked at Aang
"Well would you look at that? I'm tired and might be asleep for a few days." Aang said and ran away
"I'll get him in the morning." Toph said and gave Naruto a hug before walking away
"Sokka, if you and Suki are going to mess around at night, keep it down. I already had to give Toph the talk because of you. I don't want to answer any questions she may have." Naruto said
"I'll do my best." Sokka said
"What I'm doing over the next few days should give us an edge to win this war. Don't tell anybody, but I'm going back to the fire nation to cause some trouble." Naruto said
"Hey, anything that helps win this war and I won't ask any questions. Secret is safe with me." Sokka said and shook hands with him before walking away
Fire nation 2 days later
"I still can't believe Feng tried that." Mai said
"He honestly thinks you'll take him back after everything he did." Ty Lee said
"I'm not taking him back. He might think he's going to win me over, but it's not going to happen." Azula said
"Good. If you went back to him I'd have to kick your ass." Ty Lee said
"Please. We both know you can't beat me." Azula said and they all started laughing
"This is nice. Just relaxing in a hot spring. We've done a lot over the last few months and the last couple of weeks have been really difficult." Ty Lee said
"Tell me about it. I'm still hurting from when Naruto trained me." Azula said and rubbed her neck
"Speaking of which, where exactly did he take you?" Ty Lee asked
"I can't tell you. I was sworn to secrecy." Azula said
"So he takes you away for a week. Then you come back with purple flames, better control over your lightning bending and you can't tell us." Mai said
"Exactly. The only thing you need to know is that I got better after talking to him and my firebending is even better than it was before." Azula said
"So let me ask you this. If you were to fight Naruto, would you win?" Mai asked
"No. I've already tried during my week away. He wiped the floor with me. Literally. Why do you think I had so many cuts and bruises on my back? He dragged me by my ankles during a spar and I was going all out." Azula said
"Wow. What about Feng? Could you beat him now?" Azula asked
"Yeah I can. I've always been able to beat him, but back then I needed him on my side so I purposely lost sometimes to boost his ego and confidence." Azula said
"To think you did that out of love." Mai said
"It was certainly not love. Maybe a little crush, but definitely not love. Let's not speak about the things you did around Zuko when you two were younger. Accidentally tripping or falling so he could help you up." Azula said
"Let's not forget about the accidental kissing his cheek." Ty Lee said

"Did it hurt? I mean when Naruto left. You seemed to keep a smile on your face all the time." Azula said
"Yeah it hurt. I kept the smile on my face because crying according to you and your father was for the weak. I didn't want to look weak in front of you so I acted like everything was ok for a while. Everyday at night I would cry myself to sleep while looking at the only picture we had together as a couple. "Sometimes. When we were together on ember island he told me about some of the places he's visited and the people he met. He's done a lot of traveling in three years. Did you know he was really close with the moon spirit?" Ty Lee asked
"He is?" Mai asked
"Yeah. Her name was princess Yue. During the siege of the North Pole, admiral Zhao killed the moon spirit to give the fire nation more power. Yue was blessed by the moon spirit at birth when she was dead, but the moon spirit gave her some its life force. She gave up her life to bring balance back between the moon and sun. Naruto was her bodyguard during his time in the North Pole and they were like brother and sister I guess you could say. He didn't see her die, but he heard about it and blamed himself a bit. He told me she came to him one night and told him to not blame himself since she was destined to this sooner or later." Ty Lee said
"Why wasn't he protecting her until the end?" Azula asked
"Because during the attack after the moon spirit was destroyed, the northern water tribe were powerless and he had to step up and fight the fire nation. Once the moon was back that's when word got to him about what she did. You remember that pink necklace I received through a messenger hawk a few days after we started our search for the avatar?" Ty Lee asked
"Yeah." Azula said
"It was from him. She helped him pick it out and forced him to send it to me." Ty Lee said
"Why don't you wear it?" Mai asked
"I don't want to lose it. I still have it with me, but I just don't wear it." Ty Lee said
"What about you Mai? Did you think about leaving with Zuko when he was banished?" Azula asked
"No not really. I mean yeah there were times when I missed him, but I wouldn't say I'd go as far to leave with him. It would've been too much work and I didn't want to hear him complain about not finding the avatar every single day." Mai said
"Well isn't that cute. Mai does have a heart." A voice said
"Naruto? What are you doing here? Better yet, why are you in the fire nation? Why are you spying on us? We're naked." Azula whispered
"I'm not spying on you. I just got here. I was walking around and I heard your voices. I'm standing behind a huge rock so I won't see anything. Azula you're my cousins so it would be weird if I saw you naked. Mai has her knives with her so I wouldn't risk it and I've already seen Ty Lee naked on multiple occasions." Naruto said
"That still doesn't answer why you're in the fire nation." Mai said
"Oh. I got bored and decided to cause some mischief." Naruto said
"What did you do?" Azula asked
"It was nothing bad." Naruto said
"Naruto, what did you do?" Ty Lee asked
"Well, let's just say the fire lord is down a few airships." Naruto said
"You blew up his airships?!" Azula whispered
"No, I didn't blow them up. I just stole a few important parts and I may or may not have stolen the blueprints to the airships." Naruto said
"Great. You're actually helping." Mai said
"Oh shut up Mai. That's why your boyfriend is on a field trip with Katara." Naruto said

"Something like that. She's too soft. She won't kill him. Intimidate him, yes. Kill him, no. She doesn't have the heart or guts to do that. Plus she's traveling with Aang and I doubt she wants to get lectured by him." Naruto said
"Then why did you tell me that?!" Mai asked
"Because I wanted to make you jealous and it worked." Naruto said and Mai began to reach for her knives
"Naruto." Ty Lee said
"Yeah?" He asked
"Where are you staying and how long will you be here?" Ty Lee asked
"The secret safe house I created. I'll be here for maybe another day or so." Naruto said already knowing what she wanted
"Well ladies, I'll see you in a day or so." Ty Lee said and got out of the hot springs
"You're seriously going to leave us just because he's here." Azula said although she didn't mean it
"Well, he has what I need and I need it badly after these last few weeks. I'll catch up with you later." Ty Lee said as she grabbed her clothes off of a rock and put them on
