Schroeder learned from the doctor taking care of Lucy that she seemed to be suffering from amnesia. This information made him feel even more guilty. As annoying as Lucy could be, Schroeder did not completely hate the girl. And he did not feel good about the fact that he was the reason Lucy was now going through all this.

Currently, Schroeder was walking alongside Lucy, who was moving herself forward with the wheelchair she was now sitting in.

"And the doctor said this amnesia thing is only temporary," Schroeder said to her. "All I have to do is keep reminding you of the things you usually do and you'll snap right out of it, Lucy."

"You know, there's something about that name," Lucy mused with a finger to her chin. "In truth, I don't like it."

Schroeder scoffed. "It beats Lucille. That's what your parents, and Peppermint Patty, call you. Do you want me to call you that from now on?"

"Hmmm..." Lucy thought about it. "No, I think I feel more like a... Lily. It sounds, I dunno, more me."

"No, no! It doesn't sound a thing like you!" Schroeder said with a forceful shake of his head. "I mean, it isn't Lily who manages a five-cent "psychology" booth. It isn't Lily who plays on our baseball team, even if she isn't the best player. And it certainly isn't Lily who constantly leans against my piano, rambling on about the supposed possibility of us getting married."

"Whoa, hold on, I would ramble on about the idea of the two of us getting married?" Lucy asked, slightly shocked.

Schroeder then got a look on his face that said "I can't believe I'm about to encourage these thoughts". But if it helped to cure Lucy of her amnesia, he would deal with it.

"Let me refresh your memory," he began. "Pretty much every day when I'm at my piano, I begin to play something, usually from Beethoven. You would show up minutes later and either try to flatter me, or talk about something related to the idea that we'd get married. You've gone on about things such as me supporting us financially through my piano playing. I still remember that whole thing you said about saucepans."

Schroeder continued to remind Lucy over the next couple of minutes of all the different "marriage" discussions she tried to have with him. He only stopped when he noticed that he was beginning to attract weird looks from those who passed by them. He blushed in embarrassment.

"Er..." Schroeder awkwardly said to Lucy. "Do you remember any of this, Lucy?"

"No. Lily does not remember any of this," Lucy said, sounding somewhat annoyed. "And look bud, I'm sorry, but you got some weird fantasies in that mind of yours."

Lucy then began to wheel herself away from Schroeder, who looked on feeling both awkward and a little bit helpless.
