Chapter 8:
When I finally got to the airport, I picked up some food and sat at my gate for thirty minutes before my flight began to board. As I took my seat, my phone vibrated. I took out my phone and saw a text message from Blake.
I'm sorry. Was all it said. I turned my phone off and tried to sleep, but my mind kept going back to Blake. I remember his strong arms wrapped around him, his soft lips gently pressed against mine. I remembered being safely tucked in his arm, how they held me close to his body. When I finally arrived at JFK, I turned my phone back on, and there were some many text messages. I began to scroll through them, most of them from Bella, some from Bryce but none from Blake. When I got to my dorm, Bella jumped on me.
"I'm so glad you're home! Have you looked at your phone?!" She yelled, hugging me tightly.
"Shhhh, people are sleeping Bella," I whispered hugging her back. "I got your text messages, I haven't read them yet though," I continued, setting my suitcase down and grabbed a bag of raman and began to heat up some water.
"You don't have Tik Tok, which is stupid because your brother is like Tik Tok famous. I mean seriously, how do you not have tik tok. Literally everyone has it but you-" she began to ramble.
"The point Bell, the point," I said, pouring the water into a bowl of ramen. She nodded as I began to stir in the chicken powder.
"Right. Anyway, one of your brother's friends posted a tik tok and your name was all over the chats!" She squealed, jumping up and down. I slowed down my stirring as she continued to squeal in excitement. My phone began to vibrate some more. I walked over and picked it up, and my eyes went wide.
"People are DMing me on instagram and asking questions about Blake," I said confused. I looked up to her and Bella continued to jump up and down.
"That's who made the Tik Tok! Everyone wants to know if you guys are together or not," She continued to squeal. I continued to eat my ramen, still confused about what was going on. What did he post? What was it about? Why can't I stop thinking about him?
"We're not together," I said, shoving more noodles into my mouth. Bella took the bowl out of my hand.
"What?" She asked, I reached for my bowl, but she just pulled back further.
"My noodles…" I whined, she rolled her eyes and handed me back the bowl.
"Did anything happen between you too?" She asked slowly, keeping her eyes on me. I felt my cheeks beginning to heat up but I kept my head down.
"It's late, I have class in the morning," I answered, finishing the rest of my ramen and placing it on the counter. She gasped and pointed her index finger at me.
"Something happened!" She yelled in a hushed tone.
"Goodnight Bella," I replied, getting into bed.
"This conversation is not over, young lady," I heard her say, as she crawled into her own bed.
"Okay mom," I said in a mocking tone. I felt a pillow hit my head, and we both laughed. I threw the pillow back before finally passing out. I woke up the next morning before Bella. I made my bed and grabbed an oatmeal pack for breakfast. I left a note for Bella before I grabbed my books and subway pass then headed out the door. I got to my class a little early so I turned my phone on to see a text message from Bryce.
Miss you already sis! I smiled and responded with a heart emoji. There was also another message sent to me from Blake.
Please talk to me, was all it said.
About what? I answered as my professor walked into the door. I turned my phone off and the lecture began. As my professor lectured about the difference between sociopath and psychopath, all I could think about was Blake. I spent the rest of the week going to classes, avoiding Blake's texts and Bella's questions about Blake. I slept in on Saturday but was awakened with the rain hitting my window. I looked over at my phone, opening up instagram. I laid straight up when I first saw it. Blakes arm was wrapped around Amelie's waist as she had her hand placed on his chest. I felt a pang of hurt in my chest and I felt a tear fall from my face. I quickly wiped it away. I had no right to feel this way. He's not mine, he was never mine. I had spent the entire week ignoring his texts because I didn't know what to say to him. I knew I was going to have to face him eventually, winter break was coming up and I was going back to Los Angeles. I put my phone down on my dresser and got out of bed. I changed into black jeans, I white crop top. I put on my red vans and grabbed my purse and phone before leaving my building. Being lost in my thoughts, I had forgotten about the rain. Being too lazy to go back up stairs and get an umbrella, I continued my way to the cafe a couple blocks down. As I continued to walk, the rain began to come down harder. By the time I finally got to the cafe, I was drenched in rain water. I had hoped that the rain would've stopped by now so that I could go to central park and read, but seeing that it wasn't going to work, I took my coffee to go and made my way back to my dorm. Bella was staying over with her boyfriends, so I was all alone in our room. As I made my way down the hall, I noticed someone sitting against my door. When I got closer, the figure stood up and I stopped in my tracks. Blake.
