Chapter 9: Burole Contest
After the Gym battle, Ash, Serena and Aurora are now at the Pokemon Center until they hear that the next contest is going to be here in this region. Ash says, "Serena, I am very sorry that I didn't let you see my last contest..."
"Ash, you know I won't be mad at you forever, since there is one today, can you let me see how you do?" Serena asks with a sincere expression.
Ash smiles and says, "Of course you can, I am not going to let you down."
Just then, they hear some people saying, "No way, is that Lisia?" "It is her, she is here in Tandor!"
Ash, Serena and Aurora are confused as they decide to see what's going on with the commotion. Then they see a girl wearing a special dress as she yells, "Hiiiiii, ev-er-y-bo-dy! Lisia here! Me and my Altaria, Ali, have come to Burole Town's Contest Spectacular Hall for a bit of FUN!"
Then they hear a lot of cheers and she says, "Well then, watch me as I dive right in again today!"
Then she starts to have her Altaria perform a show, Altaria is using the Draco Meteor with the combination of Round, creating sparkles that entertain the crowd. Ash and the others can only stare with shock.
"And that is all, folks." Lisia says as they clap their hands. "I hope you all like the show."
Just as the crowd disperse, Ash and the group decide to talk to her, Ash says, "Wow, that is very spectacular."
Lisia says, "Why thank you, me and Ari have been training hard. Say, you look familiar, do we know each other?" Lisia asks the group.
After introducing themselves, Lisia says, "I see where I have seen you, you are the son of Delia Ketchum, right?"
"You know my mother?" Ash asks in surprise as Lisia smiles, "Why of course, she is my inspiration for taking part of the contests. If I didn't see her performance, I couldn't have asked my uncle to train me and make me a Top Coordinator after several years of coordinating."
Serena says, "So you are already a Top Coordinator?"
"Why yes. The reason I am here is simple, I want to see if I can find the famous Delia Ketchum so I can challenge her to a battle. But it seems like I found her son and daughter instead." Lisia says with a sheepish smile.
"Well, we are also finding our mother as well." Aurora says, "She disappeared after the nuclear explosion and we believe that she is still alive."
"I am thinking the same thing as well. How about I see how you do in this contest?" Lisia asks and Ash gives a determined smile, "Sure."
In the contest hall, Ash uses his Buizel for its performance round, Ash's act with Buizel starts off by punching the Ele-Seal effect before transitioning into a speedy Aqua Jet. Buizel uses its inflatable collar to make an abrupt stop and then leaps from the pool using Sonic Boom. Ash finishes things off with a Water Gun aimed at the water field, and the display of power goes over well with the judges.
In the battle rounds, he uses Feleng to Assist, which turns out to be Brailip's Confusion attack, it lands on the opponent's Mankey and then with the combination of Iron Tail and Double Slap, the opponent faints.
And for the final round, his Feleng has a hard time facing against a Dearewl, but with the Yawn attack and the Fury Swipes, it is able to make his opponent lose points and in the end, Ash is the winner and he gets his second ribbon.
After the contest, Lisia says, "Wow! Gratz! I watched it all! You were great! You've gotta keep up this pace and just go as far as you can go! Become a real contest star! If you could have as much fun with Contest Spectaculars as me, I'd be happy as Slugma on a sunny day! You could become a massive star! I've got a good feeling about you!"
"Why thank you." Ash says, but then he notices that Serena is feeling jealous. Lisia says, "You know, maybe one day we could become a spectacular contest duo. I am looking forward to the time."
Aurora turns around and sees Serena, who has become a Fire Type just like Braxien, but Ash didn't notice it and he says, "I am not sure about that, I recently just go into the contests. I was just a beginner unlike you."
"That won't be a problem. Well look at the time, I have to go." Lisia says as she jumps on her Altaria and flies away. Ash turns to Serena and he asks, "Serena, are you okay?"
"Do you think I am okay?" Serena yells at him, causing him to flinch. Serena notices the fear in Ash's face and she quickly stops, "I am sorry, Ash...I was just..."
"You are jealous, I know." Ash says, much to her surprise. "But don't worry, the reason I partake the contests is because of you. I want to be a role model for you so that we can become the contest duo together."
Serena starts to blush and she asks, "You mean it? Ash? We can become a Contest duo?"
"Why not?" Ash says, "But I am sorry that you have to watch me first..."
"It is fine." Serena gives him a relaxed smile. "To be honest, I am not sure what Contests were, and after seeing it, I feel like I need to have some more practice with battling."
"That's good to know." Ash says.
In somewhere else, there is a group of trio who is at Route 4, the magenta haired woman says, "So we have finally arrived, this is the Tandor Region."
"And it is just like what the boss said, there sure are a lot of nuclear power plants here." The blue haired man says.
"Whatever, the boss wants the Nuclear Pokemon and we will give him one." The cat like Pokemon said and then they yell, "And then Team Rocket will be get into glory!"
"Wobbuffet!" The familiar blue Pokemon says.
"So where are we going next?" Just then, they hear a voice as they quickly hide, Ash, Serena and Aurora are now at Route 4 as they are looking around.
"It's the twerp!" The blue haired man yells.
"And the Kalos Twerpette too, along with a new one." The cat like Pokemon says.
Then the female gives a grin and says, "This is better, if he is here then not only we can capture the Nuclear Pokemon, we can also capture the Pikachu for the boss as well! And then we will get our pay raise!"
The two members also grin evilly as they continue to spy on them.
As they decide to take a rest at Route 4, Ash sends out his Pokemon, Birbie, Barewl, Eletux and Dunsparce, while Serena sends out her Orchynx, Sylveon, Chyinmunk, Lotad, Smore and Braixen. As they are training together, Smore notices a blue bug like Pokemon as it goes towards it.
"What are you doing here?" Smore asks, and then the Pokemon says, "I can't find my sister, have you seen it anywhere?"
The Smore shakes its head and then it tells Serena. The three of them see the Pokemon and Aurora says, "It's a Sponee."
"But what is it doing here?" Ash asks the Pokemon. After learning the situation, they decide to help the Pokemon find his sister.
After searching for a while, they see that the Sponee's sister is hiding near the tree slump as a bird like Pokemon is flying around. "That is a Pahar. A Fire and Flying Type Pokemon."
"I think it is going to eat my sister, that is why she is hiding." Sponee says.
Ash decides to stop the Pokemon by asking Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. And with one hit, the attack hits the bird Pokemon and Ash captures it in the end.
Pahar: The Cinder Bird Pokemon: Fire and Flying Type. Pahar are intelligent and are commonly kept as pets. They can even be taught to talk, although not to the degree of Chatot.
After saving the sister of Sponee, which is also a Sponee, the two give a happy hug, but not before both them and Pikachu are trapped in a net.
"Hey, what's going on here?" Serena yells.
"Prepare for trouble!" "And make it double."
"To protect the world from devastation." "To unite our people within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love." "To extend our reaches to the starts above."
"Jessie." "James." "Team Rocket blast off with the speed of light." "Surrender now, or prepare for a fight." "Meowth, that's right." "Wobbuffet!"
"Team Rocket? You are here in Tandor as well?" Ash yells in frustration.
"Yeah, just how did you guys manage to track us wherever we go?" Serena says with frustration.
"It doesn't matter, what matters is that we got Pikachu and the two Sponee." Meowth says.
"Now let's retreat." Jessie says as their balloon appears. But just as they are about to leave, a Pokemon leaps out of the grass and slashes at the balloon, causing it to break.
"Hey, what gives!" Meowth yells, then they see a Sand Mouse Pokemon standing in front of Serena. "That's a Jerbolta." Aurora says.
"Are you here to help us?" Serena asks, and the Jerbolta says, "I won't stand any evil people." Then it uses Electro Ball to break the net, freeing the Pokemon.
"Pikachu, thank goodness you are alright." Ash hugs the Pokemon. Jessie says, "How dare you, then we should take them by force! Arbok!"
"Tancoon, you too!" Just as the two Pokemon come out, Tancoon just starts to nuzzle James and he yells, "I know you like me but now it is not the time."
Ash scans the Tancoon as he doesn't know about this Pokemon. And he mutters, "Great, the Poisonous Snake has returned..."
Tancoon: The Raccoon Dog Pokemon: Dark and Normal Type. Tancoon are mischievous, and are known to steal food from small Pokémon or journeying trainers.
"Tancoon gives them a Sudden Strike!" James yell, and then both Jerbolta and Pikachu are down because of the move. Serena says, "You are not going to hurt our Pokemon, Chyinmunk, use Headbutt!"
The Pokemon lands a hit on the Tancoon, causing it to be in pain. Jessie says, "Arbok, use Poison Sting!"
Arbok fires the attack and then Pikachu dodges it. "Use Iron Tail." The move slams at Arbok, causing it to be slammed back to the Pokemon.
The two Sponee also use the Water Gun, soaking them wet, Jerbolta looks at Pikachu, who nods back. Ash and Serena says, "Use Thunderbolt!"
As the two Pokemon lands the hit, the group are now flying into the sky. "Why does we have to be in the same fate whenever we go to a new region?" Jessie yells.
"Maybe we really need to get away from the twerps for a while." James says.
"But then we won't be getting Pikachu, we are not going to do that!" Meowth yells.
"We're blasting off again!" Then a shine appears and they disappear.
The two Sponee thank Ash and Serena, and then they decide to join the team, and the same goes for Jerbolta, who wants to join Serena's team.
Sponee: The Sponge Bug Pokemon: Bug Type. Sponee are covered by a bizarre sponge-like material. When dropped, they bounce.
Jerbolta: The Sand Mouse Pokemon: Electric and Ground Type. The spines on its back stand rigid when charged with electricity. It is popular with children and young trainers.
And much to their delight, Serena's Chyinmunk also evolves into a stronger Pokemon.
Kinetmunk: The Chipmunk Pokemon: Normal and Electric Type. Evolved from Chyinmunk at LV:14. Kinetmunk digs intricate tunnels that can stretch for miles underground. They use small electrical pulses to relax their muscles, allowing them to run faster.
"It seems like I got two new Electric Type Pokemon." Serena says.
"Lucky for you. But we both get a lot of new Pokemon as well." Ash says as they continue to walk forward.
Here is a new chapter, and do you think Team Rocket won't be in this story? Then you are wrong. They won't stop until they get their hands on Pikachu. I hope you like them and the next chapter will be the Comet Cave.
