NOPE NOPE NOOOOOPPE THE AUTHOR'S NOTE AIN'T OVER YET! EXCITING, RIGHT?

*crowd boos*

*ignores groans of protests*

Okay, I'm confused on something: what gender is Duusuu? Duusuu was referred to as a female in some of the language dubs, and male in the others. Personally, I think Duusuu sounds and looks more like a she, but Idk. I've seen this topic also being discussed on fan sites, but there's not really a clear answer apparently. I know, Duusuu hasn't appeared yet, but this will be important for when Duusuu does appear. HALPPP ;-;

Enjoy!

Marinette yawned, her eyes fluttering awake. She slowly lifted her head from the pillow, then shot out of bed once she remembered...

"TODAY'S THE FIELD TRIP!" She screamed, jumping out of bed. She yelped as a lamp came crashing down, catching it at the last minute.

"...that was close. I really should be more careful." She set it back on her nightstand, putting on her normal clothes. Tikki's antennae twitched in frustration from where she was sleeping. She stirred in the tiny bed Marinette had made for her, "Marinette...you woke me up..." She groggily pushed herself onto her feet/paws, floating as she rubbed her eyes.

"Whoops! Sorry Tikki." Marinette laughed, "Guess I just got a little too excited." She stroked Tikki's head with a finger.

Tikki giggled, "Okay, I forgive you..." The kwami paused, "...that is, as long as you feed me a macaroon." She added jokingly.

Marinette shook her head but smiled, "Alright alright, I'll give you a macaroon." She reached into her drawer and handed a pink macaroon to Tikki. Tikki daintily nibbled on it.

"I think you've been hanging around Plagg too much." Marinette said as she watched her kwami eat.

"Nah...Plagg would have devoured this by now." Tikki smirked.

Marinette walked downstairs happily. Tikki hid in her bag.

"Oh hey sweetie." Tom greeted her as she came down, "Your friend came a few minutes ago. She said she needed to say something to you."

"My...friend? Who would come at 7 in the morning?!"

Lila stood at the front door, looking smug as ever.

Marinette bristled, "You."

"Yes. Me." Lila flipped her hair. She turned to Marinette's parents, "Excuse, is it okay if you left us alone for a little while?"

"Sure dear." Marinette's mom replied, leading her dad away from the door.

Lila smiled, "Thank you so much! You're both so kind!" She said. Her smile faded as soon as they left.

"Listen, Marinette Dupain-Cheng." Lila growled, "You, will not come to school today."

"And miss the school field trip for you?" Marinette grinned, "Thanks, but no thanks. I passed that exam with flying colors, and I know it."

"Oh really? What if I told you that I changed your exam?"

Marinette gasped.

"That's right, Marinette. You, failed. You didn't pass. In fact, I made sure you got every question wrong." A slow smile spread across her lips, "Now, let me tell you what will happen if you do come to school: You'll see the score you got and get upset, and tell Ms. Bustier that I did it, only for me to give a sappy speech about how I'm innocent, and you're not. Then, you'll go to the principal's office, where you will be accused...OF CHEATING!" Lila shoved a photoshopped image of Marinette peeking over someone's shoulder during class.

"You wouldn't dare!" Marinette gasped, still not able to get over how realistic the image looked.

"Ahhh, but I would. Imagine how disappointed everyone will be: Your parents, your family, Ms. Bustier, Luka, Ivan, Rose, Juleka, Alya, Nino, Alix, Chloe, Sabrina, Nathaniel, Kim..." She got closer and whispered, "..even Adrien. All of your chances with him will be ruined. So I suggest you stay here, and don't cause any trouble, okay?"

Marinette looked down, "Whatever you say, Lila. But know that you're not being fair."

Lila grinned, "It's not about being fair. I told you...Adrien is MINE. So stay back." She walked away, satisfied.

—- Time Skip—

"Okay everyone!" Ms. Bustier clapped her hands, "Settle down now. Let's see..." She began calling out names:

"Adrien?"

"Present."

"Rose?"

"Present."

"Juleka?"

"Present."

"Nino?"

"Present."

"Chloe?"

"Ugh, how is this a question?! PRESENT!"

"Marinette?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Marinette?"

Still no answer.

Adrien looked around the classroom. No Marinette, he thought, strange.

"Marinette will be missed. I've just gotten word from her that she has the flu. That poor, poor thing. I wish her only my best regards." Lila put her hands over her heart.

The teacher continued calling out names, but Adrien couldn't focus. It didn't make any sense to him. He knew how excited Marinette had been about the field trip, so why give up now? And since when was LIE-LA suddenly a friend of Marinette? He was finally snapped out of his thoughts.

"...you may now pick who you are going to sit next to on the bus. You will have to stick by this person's side throughout the whole trip, so choose wisely."

Just as Adrien was about to walk over to Nino, Lila jumped in front of him, "Adrien, I'll be your partner! It will be so much fun to go to the museum with you!" Adrien was about to protest, but Lila had already wrapped her arms around Adrien's arm and was clinging onto him.

Dude. Seriously? He sighed, groaning inwardly, Just my luck. Of all the people it could have been: Nino, Kagami, literally anyone in class...but NOPE, it just HAD to be Lila...even Chloe's better than her...

That was an understatement. Chloe was much better than her. Sure, Lila didn't insult people directly, but she was a liar, and had even almost gotten Marinette expelled, not to mention the COUNTLESS LIES she had told his family. Or what was left of it, anyway. But Adrien didn't like to think about that.

"Come on, Adrien. We're going to have a great time." Lila said. All Adrien could think about was Kagami's reaction.

Oh.

And there was Chloe. Let's not forget that small detail.

Okay, yup, that was it.

He was toast.

Fried toast.

Burnt toast.

Dead toast.

Whatever you want to call it. In short, Adrien was pretty sure he was doomed.

The title makes more sense now ehehehehe.

Don't forget to review, follow, and fav! :) ;D
