(Narrator POV)
"Listen up, I will go over this as many times as needed for you to completely understand this and until I feel like you understand it well enough." Loudly announced Vlad, walking repeatedly in front of a blackboard he had in the lab, as Danny was sitting on a chair, and was paying rapt attention to the board, even having a notepad and pen that Vlad had given him. "Each and every Ghost is unique, the only thing they have in common is: Flight, Invisibility, and Intangibility, each Ghost has these, though, after that, it gets a bit more complex." Calmly informed Vlad, drawing a generic Ghost on the board, and listing each power he had mentioned.
Danny nodded in understanding, recalling that every Ghost he had encountered so far had used those powers at one point or another.
"Next are Ghost Cores, these can manifest in various elements, from the basic fire, earth, water, and air, to the rare space and poison. Though with intense training and practice, a Ghost's core, could manipulate a second element, though not all Ghosts who try to do so are capable of achieving this." Happily retold Vlad, having said this when both himself and Danny had first met, and Danny still hadn't tried to do anything with his core yet. "Each Ghost uses their Core in the way that best represents them. You and me, for example, prefer using them as a form of attack and channel our ectoplasm through our core, and then out of our palms for a long-range attack. Other Ghosts could use their cores to alter the environment for their own advantage, while others create weapons, shields, and even healing in some instances." Fondly recalled Vlad, Danny happily wrote down what he was hearing, since it would benefit him immensely once he could properly create his own fighting style.
'Okay, so I can do more with my core than I originally thought.' Coyly realized Danny, writing down the more advanced functions of a Ghost Core, and which one would benefit him the most since he would be fighting in an inhabited area most of the time.
"For example, I am able to change my fire into lightning by making myself into a thermoelectric generator, allowing me to convert the fire from my fire core into electricity and shoot lightning." Softly hummed Vlad, Danny blinked as he realized that he didn't know what a thermoelectric generator was, but knew that it involved heat and electricity. "This part is vital for you to know, Ghosts who do this, will never achieve the same finesse, power, or control as a Ghost born with that core, and the spectral form isn't immune to it, unlike your primary element." Sternly added on Vlad, pulling up his right sleeve until Danny could see his elbow, making the teen purse his lips at what he saw.
Electrical burn scars could be seen ending at the man's elbow, and Danny was willing to bet that they ran all the way up to his right arm, making Danny's eyes widen. The flesh around the lightning-shaped burns was an angry purple, along with an angry shade of red, that made Danny gag slightly.
"So what other elements could I generate?" Curiously questioned Danny, still busy looking at the scar, while switching his focus towards his note-taking as well.
"Unfortunately, I do not know, since I've only reached an adequate level with my core recently, and I never branched my research out into the other elements." Sorrowfully hummed Vlad, straightening his sleeves a moment later, before looking down at the watch on his wrist a second later. "You said you had to be back by midnight? It's 10 now, so I suggest we do some practice if you are up for it. Tell me, are there any of your powers that are giving you an issue, or that you don't completely understand?" Curiously questioned Vlad, looking at Danny whose gaze was blank, as the teen's mind went through all of his skills that involved his Ghost side.
"I'm trying to get Spectral Body Manipulation strong enough, so I can change my body." Slowly hummed Danny, trying to find the best way to phrase what he was about to say since he was still trying to figure out the possible skills that Tucker had given him. "Like, making myself larger to absorb damage, or temporarily increasing my muscle mass for a super-powerful attack." Happily explained Danny, emphasizing by allowing the familiar cold energy to wash over him, making his skin tingle slightly, as blood and flesh were converted into ectoplasm.
[Spectral Body Manipulation] was an odd skill, being able to alter your body at will was strange, yet Danny had a sneaking suspicion that this skill was nowhere near its max potential just yet, not in the stage it was at. Danny huffed slightly, as he forced his body to expand as far as it could, making Danny need to forcefully activate [Flight] so he wouldn't be thrown off from the sudden shift in his center of gravity.
"It's the first time I've heard of a Ghost thinking of using that skill like that... they mainly focus on making a body part gigantic for increased attack power, changing body parts into a weapon, or avoiding attacks." Calmly hummed Vlad, toxic green eyes widened slightly as they watched the dark crackle of energy form around his head, slowly engulfing his body. "That's a common skill, though its rarer... forms involve proper shapeshifting, elasticity, and size manipulation." Amusedly answered Vlad, holding his right arm out, and Danny watched in amazement as it got thinner and thinner, until it looked like a blade.
"Common skills?" Confusedly questioned Danny, seeing Vlad pinching the bridge of his nose as if Danny was asking a silly question.
"Common skills are skills that almost every Ghost possesses, like the Passive super strength, endurance, speed, and other basic Ghost skills. Uncommon skills, like whatever your core does that isn't found in every Ghost, but each has something." Uncertainly explained Vlad, as he moved back to the board and began writing stuff down. "Rare skills are skills that could only be found in 1 out of every 10 Ghosts or so, maybe even less. Unique skills may only be possessed by 1 Ghost, 2 Ghosts at the absolute best... if you want, I'll tell you the rarity of all of your skills, if you wish." Idly added Vlad, watching as Danny's face scrunched up in concentration, as the teen tried to recall all of his powers, before remembering he could pull up his skill-list, and began picking out his Ghost skills.
"Enhanced strength/endurance/agility, Ecto-Vision, Spectral Body Manipulation, Flying, Invisibility, Intangibility, Overshadowing, Ghost-Sense, Ecto-Ray, Ectoplasm Absorption, Ecto-Burst, Telekinesis, Ectoplasm Manipulation, Ecto-Enhancement, Light Generation, Teleportation, and Ecto-Slash." Exasperatedly listed Danny, watching as Vlad's eyes were genuinely wide with the number of skills that Danny had, despite being classed as a 'Baby Ghost' since he had only become one recently.
"I'll just state their ranks, in the order, you've given me. Common, common, common. Rare. Common, common, common, common, common. Rare. Common. Rare. Unique. Common. Unique. Rare. Unique. Rare, and Unique." Interestedly listed Vlad, he had seen the majority of these powers before, yet despite Danny being a child in Ghost terms, having 19 Ghost based powers was quite a lot, and the fact that 8 of them were a mixture of rare and unique was also surprising, since most Ghosts only tended to have 1 Unique skill, even then that was rare.
"And Cryokinesis." Uncertainly added Danny, not really certain if that truly counted as a skill, since nothing had truly shown up to indicate the fact that it was a skill, only that he could shoot glaciers from his hands.
Apologies!
We are sorry for the delay in this particular skill creation, since you were not supposed to unlock something like this for a while, and hadn't thought of adding the skill in. If you would like, you could be offered compensation of some kind, though it will be nothing major, since it was just a delay in skill creation.
[Cryokinesis]: (Active) Level 3/100: EXP: 74%
Ectoplasm: Varies per usage
Description: Deep inside the user is an Ice Core, which allows the user to channel their ectoplasm through it, turning it into ice, which can then be altered by the user once it leaves their body.
"Rare." Calmly listed Vlad, bringing the total amount of Ghost skills that Danny knew up to 20, with each unique skill still sounding rather powerful and exceptional. "If you don't mind, could you demonstrate your unique skills? I have a theory that each unique skill represents the Ghost in some way." Curiously asked Vlad, willing to show off one of his own skills in return, since he needed to earn Danny's trust, so he would be his son.
"Ecto-Slash, Light Generation, Ectoplasm Manipulation, and Ecto-Burst?" Uncertainly recalled Danny, watching as Vlad nodded in response, already floating over towards the same training room, where Danny created the glacier.
(Location change)
Danny's skin rippled green, as the teen floated in the air with his eyes glowing green, raven black hair was slowly floating upwards, as the teen was gathering the ectoplasm inside of him. A white ripple of energy washed across Danny, causing it to mix with the green ectoplasm running beneath his skin, making it violently burst out of him, scorching the floor and everything else that was within his range.
"So that was Ecto-Burst, if I were to guess, I'd say it would be you forcefully expelling all of your ectoplasm in a last ditch attempt at a getaway or attack." Curiously hummed Vlad, floating above Danny with an intrigued look in his eyes, busy typing stuff down on his iPad, so he could further look into Danny's skill.
"No, just a quarter of it." Loudly heaved Danny, shaking slightly from the weird feeling of using ectoplasm while in his Human Form, though that didn't stop the teen from appreciating it, in some weird way. "Now I'll do Light Generation." Tiredly huffed Danny, blinking suddenly as he realized something mildly important about [Light Generation], and that was that he had yet to practice the skill.
Clapping both hands together, Danny had an uncertain smile on his face as he began gathering ectoplasm in his hands, condensing it as he went along, recalling how he was feeling when he had first used this skill. Prideful, that's how he was feeling, he felt like he was superior compared to anyone else, having the benefits of both worlds.
Toxic green energy lightened a few shades, quickly becoming brighter and brighter with each passing second, to the point where Danny had his own eyes closed due to the intensity of the light, and then Danny finally opened his hands. It was blinding, to say the least, the light was harsh enough for Danny to actually shove both of his hands forward, trying to get rid of the harsh light.
A light twip echoed across the room for a brief second, making both Halfas stare at Danny's hands, which were now light-clear, but the only issue was the fact that the palm-sized ball of light was rapidly bouncing through the room, acting as if it was a ping-pong ball being continuously hit at high speeds. Icy blue eyes watched in fascination at how quickly the ball had started off, but Danny could already see that the ball was rapidly slowing in speed, only for it to disappear a second later.
"So it's quite harsh on the eyes, it was pure white in color, and it could bounce... I have sensors in the room, so they might hopefully give us a rough idea of how many times it bounced." Interestedly hummed Vlad, staring down at his own hand in confusion, not entirely certain what circumstance or Danny's personality had led to such a unique power being created. "Now, Ecto-Slash and Ectoplasm Manipulation." Idly commented Vlad, looking as Danny held out his right hand, and allowing his toxic colored ectoplasm to leak from his hand.
Vlad watched in mute fascination, as Danny began altering his ectoplasm into various shapes, even weapons and armor of sorts, and began typing down what exactly Danny was doing. It was normal for Ghosts to be able to construct their ectoplasm into various objects, but unlike Danny who was spinning around and unleashing blades of ectoplasm, while shooting out blobs of ectoplasm, Vlad couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the display.
"So complete control over ectoplasm and you also demonstrated the slash as well." Softly whispered Vlad, since he doubted that Ecto-Slash was all that different from a jagged slash of ectoplasm, that could be used to cut through things. "Do you want to see one of my unique powers?" Curiously questioned Vlad, seeing Danny pause for a second in surprise, as he entered his Ghost Form a second later.
"Yes please!" Excitedly shouted Danny, his white hair floating slightly, as the teen activated [Flight] and began hovering above the ground, accepting the iPad that Vlad handed him, as the older and more experienced Halfa touched the ground.
The training room was quiet at first, pink ectoplasm started crawling out from beneath Vlad's fingernails, and slowly seeping around his fingers, before coiling itself around his hands, making them glow brightly, only for the ectoplasm to continue making its way up his arms. Arching his back backward, Danny watched as the Halfa pulled both of his arms backward, before whipping forward with all of his might.
A curved wall of pink ectoplasm rushed forward, spreading outwards as it continued to rush forward in all directions, rapidly expanding in size before frizzling out of existence 12 feet in front of Vlad. Toxic green eyes blinked in excitement, casting a quick [Observe] on the man, Danny quickly noted the fact that it had costed Vlad roughly 3000 ectoplasm, and he had already regained 8 ectoplasm within the first two seconds after the attack as well.
A shrill beeping sound escaped the iPad in Danny's arms, making the teen's eyes widen slightly as he fumbled, barely latching onto it, before it slipped through his fingers, peering down at it curiously. 11:47, he had 13 minutes to get home, and that made Danny gulp slightly.
"VLAD! I have to go now! My parents want me home in 13 minutes!" Loudly yelled Danny, dropping to the ground with a thump, and handing the iPad over to Vlad, who looked somewhat confused. "Thank you!" Hurriedly informed Danny, activating [Teleportation] and focusing on his room, disappearing a second later.
Bright red eyes blinked slowly as he tried comprehending why Danny had left, it had been so long since he had lived with his parents, he didn't even recall that there were rules, before letting out a chuckle. Sauntering out of the room, Vlad could barely keep the grin off of his face, as he walked out of the lab with a barely concealed spring in his step, as he looked over the lab.
Leaping from just outside the training room, Vlad let himself float across the room with a smile, as he could almost feel all of the pieces falling into place, Danny won't turn into a lonely mess, that didn't know what was going on, and living in constant fear, because he was here. Landing on one of the many chairs, Vlad winched slightly as he could feel a burning sensation race through his body, making a small curse escape the man's lips.
"Damn." Silently cursed Vlad, feeling the flames inside of his body rise dramatically, his hair lengthening as something creaked loudly inside of his skull, as he could feel something shift about. "This bloody issue." Loudly mumbled Vlad, pausing slightly as he recalled that out of the hundreds of Ghosts he had asked, none of them knew what he was talking about, the only key difference between him and them was simple.
He was an adult Halfa...
Danny was a teenage Halfa, going through puberty...
The 'issue' as Vlad liked to call it, was so far something that was only happening to him, no other Ghost had a clue what he was talking about, increased ectoplasm reserves, regeneration, and his overall Ghost Form getting many times stronger, though there was a drawback. The blackouts, the pain when the issue kicks up, and the overall sudden and unpredictable increase of power was annoying, especially since Vlad had accidentally made his whole house intangible once, causing all of his furniture to be destroyed.
"Butterscotch... I'll have to learn more about this before I tell Danny." Quietly mumbled Vlad, his eyes glowing with pink ectoplasm as he started levitating, gripping his head, as the skin on his forehead started expanding.
(Timeskip)
Danny was certain that he had gone to sleep the minute he had hit his bed, he was willing to bet his pocket money on it, thus Danny had no clue why he was surrounded by bright green. Ectoplasm, Danny knew that it was the green energy that was surrounding him, and Danny only knew of one place that had so much ectoplasm.
The Ghost Zone
Looking down at his hands, Danny could see that his hands were their normal tanned color, telling Danny that he was in his Human Form. Icy blue eyes widened slightly, there was someone near him, yet Danny wasn't certain where the presence was coming from.
"Relax, you're in no danger." Amusedly huffed an echoey voice, making Danny swirl around and stare at the source of the voice, icy blue eyes widening in complete confusion as they stared into toxic green, his toxic green eyes. "I know, pretty cool, right? Me, Danny Phantom... your Ghost subconscious? The Ghost half of you?" Awkwardly mumbled the Ghost, shrugging slightly, as Danny was trying to process what exactly he was seeing.
"Ahhh... I'm dreaming." Slowly realized Danny, watching as his alter-ego simply shrugged his shoulders in response, looking equally confused as he was, so Danny wasn't worried as of yet. "So... do you have access to the Gamer? Or is it just me?" Curiously questioned Danny, watching as Danny Phantom shook his head in denial, making Danny perk up in curiosity at the answer.
"That is your power, if we were to ever split up, or if you ever became a full Human, you'd retain that power, since it's yours. I merely give you Ghost powers." Idly commented Phantom, pulling both of his legs up and crossing them, floating slightly in the void of green they were in. "Though, soon we won't have to worry, since we will be perfectly combined soon enough." Apprehensively added Phantom, looking at Danny as his eyes narrowed slightly before widening, recalling that piece of information on one of the notifications he had received.
"What happens when we properly combine? Will anything bad happen?" Curiously questioned Danny, looking as a ghostly smile grew on Phantom's face, as he seemed almost amused at the idea that something bad would happen.
"Of course not, being perfectly combined is the best thing possible! We'll be in our awakened form, we'll be many times stronger, and we will be unstoppable... able to protect everyone." Giddily chuckled Phantom, adding on the last part as an afterthought, making a small bit of worry rise up in Danny.
Awakened Form, that caught his interest...
Those words pinged around Danny's brain, his heart yearned for them to be true the second he heard them, and Danny didn't miss the way his body shivered in delight at the words. Whatever this so-called Awakened Form was, it was completely natural from what Danny could deduce, meaning that his current Ghost Form was his Sleeping Form, if that made sense.
"So, when will this happen then? When will I awaken my Awakened Form?" Curiously inquired Danny, just watching Phantom shrug his shoulders in response, knowing just as much as Danny did when it would happen. "Okay then." Awkwardly mumbled Danny, closing his eyes, as he realized that he would have to tell his parents about this, and they would want to run more tests on him, for his safety and their understanding.
(Time-skip)
Grogginess was the first thing that Danny felt when he woke up this morning, it was oddly quiet despite it being 7, but who was Danny to complain about the peace and quiet, as the teen prepared himself for the day. Sauntering down the stairs, Danny's nose wrinkled as the smell of coffee filled his nose, he had a black hoodie on today, covering his normal white top, as well as having a sports bag flung over his left shoulder, filled with an additional pair of sports clothes.
"What's with this Ecto-reading?" Confusedly mumbled a voice, Danny's icy blue eyes perked up slightly, his footsteps becoming all but inaudible as he approached the kitchen, aware of the fact that he had stopped breathing. "Are you sure there's no Ghost in this house?" Gruffly questioned a deep voice, Danny froze as he walked through the kitchen door, immediately being stared at by two people he had never seen before.
The first one was a tall man, with brown skin, with a pair of black sunglasses on despite being inside, and had a noticeable lack of hair. He wore a pristine white suit, with a contrasting black tie, along with black gloves and boots, and an earpiece in his left ear.
The second man was equally tall, with sun-kissed skin, and like the first one had identical sunglasses and a similar lack of hair. Like the first man, he wore a pristine white suit, with a contrasting black tie, along with black gloves and boots, and an earpiece in his left ear.
"Danny, say hello to Agent K and Agent O, from the Guy In White." Stiffly greeted Jack, gesturing at the two men in order, while Agent K had a device pointed at him, a small beeping sound accompanying it.
"Why does your 'son' have an Ecto-reading?" Sternly inquired Agent K, reaching for something that looked like a gun on his hip, but at a glance, Danny identified the ectoplasmic colors running through the tube on the top.
"I ate ectoplasm last night, if you paid attention you would see it's gathered in my digestive system." Dumbly answered Danny, his eyes widening as Agent K got up and walked over to him, running the scanner across his body, the beeping sound getting louder and more intense whenever it got to his stomach. "I'm late for school, and Sam and Tucker will be here soon." Hurriedly informed Danny, not a moment later the front door was knocked on, giving Danny a second to dash towards it, intending on getting out of there as quickly as possible.
(Time-skip)
"So the GIW was at your house this morning?" Repeatedly asked Tucker, after being told by Danny that he had met two Agents, and saw the GIW official van parked in their driveway, but still felt the need to ask the question.
"Yes, Tuck, there were two Agents in my house this morning." Exasperatedly answered Danny, zipping up his hoodie before adjusting his bag, which barely weighed anything to him now. "Plus... they detected my ectoplasm." Awkwardly mumbled Danny, making both of his friends halt their walk to school, it wasn't like they would be late, but Danny would rather not talk about it.
"Danny, I will just ask this once, and once only, if you do not answer honestly, you'll be missing something important if you don't." Slowly spoke Sam, Danny shivered slightly as he recalled what day it was, Sam's special day as she had said each month, roughly around this time. "Is there anything else you would like to say before you get castrated?" Calmly questioned Sam, making both males gulp slightly at the implications, both crossing their legs before looking at one another.
"Well..." Awkwardly began Danny, rubbing the back of his neck out of nervousness, as he could feel that his very life would be in danger if Sam found out he had left something out, and Danny liked his half-life very much.
That's a wrap people! Bit of an information dump this chapter, though it'll all explain itself later on in the story!
See ya next time!
