It was soon afternoon and Rory was running around the apartment trying to get ready for her lunch with her grandfathers. She had over slept, but it was one of the best nights sleep she had gotten in a long time! Since being bigger in her pregnancy sleep wasn't something she was used to anymore, she often joked it was the boys getting her used to it before they made there appearance but it was just so difficult to get comfy. She didn't know how Logan slept through her tossing and turning all night but last night was just like it used to be. They boys were currently on the move and feet were sticking out of her side and one of the boys enjoyed putting their foot under her rib cage. When she had her scan a few days earlier they were pleased that both boys were currently head down, because she wanted to give birth naturally there was always a risk after the first baby was born the second could turn breech but she seemed to be very lucky and they seemed to know what they were doing. With one last glance in the mirror she headed for the door where her husband was currently stood holding her travel mug full of decaf. It may not have been as good as normal coffee, but better than none.
"Thank you, I'm going to have to go Logan before I'm late I don't want to keep them waiting, I know grandpa was anxious I'm not sure what he thinks I'm going to say"
Logan chuckled and kissed his wife and then proceeded to kiss his boys and tell them to behave. They were using the car service at the moment, Rory struggled driving now with reaching the wheel, turning to look over her shoulder and it generally just wasn't very comfortable, especially when the boys were on the move. They had always planned and using the service to go into the hospital when the time came so Logan could focus his full attention on Rory. Finn would bring them their car with the car seats in before they came home. With one last wave she bid goodbye and out of the door.
Logan slumped on to the sofa, lost in thought at how much of a whirlwind the last few years had been. Sometimes he still felt like he would wake up from this dream. Or maybe a nightmare because to wake up and be back to the days before he met Rory would seem like that now. What he never fully processed was that Rory felt the same, the were the perfect match. They fit. Had it been fate that brought them together or just pure luck. Neither knew the answer but in reality what did it matter, they had each other, a family and a life that so many people could only dream of. Even with out a penny in the bank they would still be so lucky to just have each other. It was very true money couldn't buy you happiness, true love was what brought true happiness and to find it young and grow up together but still fit was magical.
Rory soon arrived at the cafe her and her grandfathers had been using for years, like she thought the pair were already sat there waiting for her. She rushed through the door ( as much as a heavy pregnant women can rush) and greeted the pair. She had a decaf sat waiting for her and once the pleasantries were out the way she decided to get straight to the point.
"So I know you both must be wondering why I've called you both here and seemed to be so elusive but I wanted to sit down and explain a few things, so I'll say it all at once because with my pregnancy brain I can soon get side tracked"
The trio laughed and the two elders gave a warm smile and nod encouraging her to continue. She wasn't sure why she was so nervous, she knew that her grandfathers would be over the moon at the sentiment but some things just never changed with Rory.
" So as you know when I married Logan I took his last name but kept Gilmore and Hayden as well, although its officially three last names I mostly use Huntzberger, when the boys arrive me and Logan have decided that their last name will be just Huntzberger because let's face it it's a mouth full having all three, and I wouldn't pick either Hayden or Gilmore to go with it. But they will of course always be a Hayden and a Gilmore and with that being said I want to carry on some sort of legacy with them, so we've decided, as long as its okay with the both of you that we would like to use your names as the boys middle name, no one knows what we've decided yet as your most probably aware but we want to call the boys Isaac Richard Huntzberger and Lincoln Straub Huntzberger"
Richard watched his granddaughter with amazement, he wasn't sure why she had called this meeting but he wasn't expecting this. He understood why she wasn't using all 3 names it was quite the mouthful like she had said but he was over the moon with the prospect of one of his great grandsons being named after him, it wasn't at all necessary yet the pride that filled him made him smile more than the day she announced she was pregnant. It was no secret how close the pair were and he couldn't wait to meet the next generation. He glanced to his left towards Straub and thought he caught a shining in his eye of tears. Straub was a tough man but their granddaughter could bring the greatest, strongest man to his knees with a smile.
The trio hugged and the elder men told their granddaughter was a beautiful gesture it was but not necessary, she insisted it was what she wanted but no one else was to know the names until they were born. They spent the next 2 hours catching up, eating cake and laughing. It was the perfect afternoon. After they said their goodbyes Rory headed home feeling like she was ready now. Whenever the boys decided to make their appearance she was ready.
The next couple of weeks flew by and Rory was astonished she hadn't yet given birth, she had appointments every other day and it seemed the boys were comfy where they were. They had found out Stephanie was having a healthy little girl like they had all suspected. She was thankfully over the worse of the morning sickness, everyone was over the moon for couple. Finn had decided to move in with Madeline, although it really wasn't necessary, he wanted to give Rory and Logan their own space, he may have moved out but the pair had no intention of changing his room, just in case. Paris had been to visit for a few days last week and all the girls loved having her back. Time seemed be flying and it would only be a couple of days before Rory had to go in and be induced at this rate.
Rory glanced at the clock as it read 2.03am. She was so uncomfortable and the boys seemed to have been moving around less than normal. She was worried at first but reassured at her appointment earlier that day that they were healthy and maybe starting to get prepared for labour and conserving some energy. She decided she would get up and take a walk around the apartment, her tummy had been a little off the last few days so she was trying to eat little and often and decided an early morning snack might do the trick. As she stood from her bed she felt a small trickle escape her. She frowned to herself and went to the toilet to see what was going on. She hadn't felt like she needed a wee but with two babies in there her bladder did need emptying often, and the last few weeks she noticed she had to dash to the toilet only just making it in time on occasion. She padded across to the en suite and sat down, she didn't need a wee which was strange, she lent over to the cupboard and pulled out a sanitary towel placing it in her clean knickers. After having a quick wipe down she headed out to the kitchen and pulled out a tub of ben and Jerry's. She smiled to herself looking at the tub, she had always been a fan but since being pregnant she just couldn't get enough, the guys had often joked that's what her and Logan should call the boys.
Her tightening that she had been having seemed to be getting a little tighter so to speak, crampy even. She sat on the sofa spoon in hand digging in. As the cold ice cream entered her stomach she felt another pain, this was definitely stronger than before and although not overly painful it was noticeable. She glanced over at the oven to see the time, 2.17am. Maybe it was the coldness of the ice cream, the boys always used to jump about when she had anything too cold she carried on eating and she felt another pain starting, pausing the tv she glanced at the oven again 2.22am. She let out a sigh as a slight panic began to set in, she would wait until she had an exact pattern form before she told anyone, but maybe it was time.
Over the next hours pain were coming regularly every 4-6 minutes and they were starting to get more painful and lasting longer. She stood up ready to go double check her hospital and wake up Logan. As she stood she felt another trickle this time slightly bigger and realisation set in. It was her waters. She had always thought she would know for sure if it was, she expected maybe a big gush or something but she had read about a trickle. She went back to the bathroom and checked her sanitary towel. The liquid was straw coloured which was good. She had yet another wash and went into nursery. She checked through her bag making sure she had everything for hospital including spare clothes for Logan. It was now 4.12am and the pains were definitely increasing and about 3-4 minutes apart. She didn't think things would progress quite so quickly. She took a deep breathe and woke Logan.
"Logan, Logan wake up"
She was talking in a voice just above a whisper as her husband stated to stir. He was rubbing his eyes and moved the pillow to glance at the clock.
"Its early ace, what you doing up, you okay??"
He was still half asleep as the words slipped from Rory's lips
"I think the babies are coming"
It was a good job she still had good reflexes because Logan was out of bed and by his wife's side in a split second. His eyes wide hair sticking out everywhere and what looked like the remains of some possible drool near the corner of his mouth. He ran around the room quickly getting dressed and asking question after question. She explained what had occurred over the last couple of hours and he was already on the phone to the hospital telling them to get a room ready. He grabbed the suitcase out the nursery and phoned down to the car service, once they were in the car Rory got him calm down slightly just like they had talked about. He was rubbing her back constantly asking what she needed and soon they arrived at the front of the hospital. It was now nearly 5am and Rory had a suspicion that the boys would be making there arrival today. 1 day before the planned induction. September 1st would be a day to remember forever.
