Camping For The Night
Everyone has been riding the animals, or as you can say, their new pets. As they were riding for about a few hours, Brainy and Clumsy did switch with their girlfriends in the middle of their ride. And as they were riding, their animals climbed braches, jumped over fields, and other amazing sights.
It was starting to get dark and some fireflies came out of the grass. Making the night sky glow. Smurfette was in awe of the sight.
"Wow. Have you ever seen something so beautiful?" Smurfette asked in awe of the sight.
Hefty looked at her, "Every day, Smurfette. Every day."
Brainy was beside them and heard him while saying, "Don't be weird."
"You don't be weird." Hefty said back
After a few more minutes, they stopped to camp for the rest of the night. Smurfette was feeding carrots to Bucky, Smurfblossom was petting Snowy the Snow Pomeranian, and Smurfstorm was helping Clumsy tame Fire Mist the Dragonfly, so that he could have his own dragonfly, just like Smurfstorm does.
"We can camp here for the night." Brainy said, taking out his scout manual from his pack, "I'll start us a fire. Uh, fetch me some firewood, would you, Hefty?"
Hefty looked a bit taken back, "Um, a 'please' would be nice."
"Yes, it would, but I haven't earned my manners badge, so get me some firewood." Brainy said as he read his book to see the right way to start a fire. Hefty just groaned and left to go find some firewood.
Smurfstorm was petting Fire Mist, Clumsy's new pet dragonfly, when she heard Clumsy groan and slouched as he rested his head on a rock. Smurfstorm got worried, so she sat down beside him.
"Hey Clumsy, you okay?" She asked a tad bit worried.
Clumsy then answered with a tired look on his face but trying his best to look like he's fine, so she won't be worried about him. He put a fake smile on his face, "Yeah, sure. Don't you fret, Stormy. It's been fun. Well, not tons of fun, but it's had its moments. " He then muttered out, "Kind of." He then thought she heard that, so he covered it up, "You know what I'm trying to say."
She looked at him in the eyes. When he looked back, they had eye contact, making it hard for him to tell a lie at her, as she had a look of seriousness in her eyes.
He sighed in defeat, "Okay. It hasn't been that much fun."
Her seriousness turned into a look of sympathy as she sensed that her significant other started to droop. She remembered that whenever she was feeling down, he would always let her take her anger out on him, even if it may involve something physical, like punching and kicking. He was always there for her, so now she has to be there for him.
She then thought of something to say, "You know, you did great back there."
He looked up in confusion, "What did I even do that was great back there? All I did was accidentally poaching a dragonfly's egg and making an explosion back in the tunnels."
"Well, back at the tunnels you didn't leave me behind. You could've just let another animal take me, but no. You swooped down and lifted me up." She affectionately said, "And I don't say this much, but... Most of the time, your clumsiness actually helps me."
"Oh, thanks. I needed that." He blushed. They hugged and Smurfstorm pecked him on the cheek. They both smiled as they watched Brainy trying to make a fire.
Hefty brought back the firewood and dropped it in front of Brainy, "Well done, Hefty. Well done."
Hefty just rolled his eyes and sat down beside him, "All right, step one, the wood should be stacked into a tepee-like structure. Step two, I tap this flint with a rock and..." He started blowing on it, and by blowing, he was spitting on it. Hefty noticed this.
"You're not even blowing on it. You're spitting on it." Brainy kept spitting instead of blowing, and he noticed it wasn't lighting on fire.
Brainy stopped, "Hmm. That's odd. Perhaps the wood you collected was damp, Hefty. According to my manual, it should spark right up."
Brainy then started thinking of ways he can make the fire. Though, when he said manual, Hefty got an idea as he looked at the manual. "Hey, I've got an idea."
He placed the manual on the stack of firewood, and it instantly lit right up and everyone started gathering beside the fire to warm up. Though, Brainy panicked.
"No, no, no. No, no! No! No, no, , no, no!" He panicked as he tried taking the book from the fire, and successfully did it.
"You know, you're right, Brain Man." Hefty said casually, "Your little book does come in handy."
"Shame. Shame on you. We'd be lost without this book." He said holding his book tight.
Hefty then started to mock him. He used his hand to mimic Brainy's glasses, "My name is Brainy. I'm super smart. I'm the smart smurf." He mocked," But I can't start a fire."
Brainy glared at Hefty, making Hefty, Smurfette, Clumsy, Smurfstorm, and Smurfblossom laugh. Smurfblossom then came up to Brainy, still giggling.
"You know, for a smurf who claims to be the smart one, you still do the silliest things from time to time," Smurfblossom said, sitting next to him, "And I think it's cute."
Brainy gave her a warm smile, while a slight blush formed on his face. "Thanks, Blossom." Smurfblossom replied by nodding.
Everyone took out smurfberries from their bags and placed them over the fire to heat up and then eat them. It was really quiet, so Smurfette spoke up.
"Just think guys. When we retrieve the wand, we'll be saving all smurf-kind."
Brainy then said, "You may be right about that, but a magical artifact, such as a wand, can't just be out in the open."
"He's right. We should be prepared for whatever comes our way." Hefty said.
"Ooh. Maybe it'll be buried underground." Smurfblossom guessed excitedly, "Like real treasure."
"Or it could be locked up in a hidden place in the forest." Smurfstorm guessed.
"What if it's guarded by wild predators?" Hefty guessed.
"Or it could be guarded by mythical creatures." Brainy guessed.
Clumsy then added, "What if the guards have hands?"
Everyone laughed, and Hefty said, "Good one, bro."
Smurfette then said, "Listen, I think we may be overthinking this. But no matter what, we'll have to find it and not let Gargamel get it or else we'll be in grave danger."
Everyone nodded. But Smurfblossom still felt guilty.
"Because of me." She added, and everyone looked her way.
"It isn't your fault, Smurfblossom."
"Yeah, it's always been Gargamel's fault."
"No one's at blame here."
"We're Team Smurf, and we're in this together."
She felt better because of her friend's compassionate words. So, she smiled.
"Thanks, guys. You're the best friends anyone could ever ask for." They then came in for a group hug.
They broke apart and Brainy took out Snappy. "Okay, everyone. Smurfy selfie time."
They gathered together to fit in the shot. With the position from the left being, Hefty, Smurfette, Smurfblossom, Brainy. And Smurfstorm and Clumsy on top of Smurfblossom and Smurfette.
"Say 'blue cheese'." Snappy said
"Blue cheese!" Everyone exclaimed. After that, they all went to sleep.
Smurfblossom and Brainy sleeping beside each other side by side, while Smurfblossom is holding Brainy's hand. Smurfette and Hefty beside each other, with Smurfette's head on Hefty's chest. And Smurfstorm and Clumsy resting beside each other, with Smurfstorm hugging Clumsy and Clumsy's face in her hair.
It was now midnight. The fire blew out and it was starting to get cold. Smurfstorm was shaking like a leaf, not because of the cold, but because she was having a nightmare.
In Smurfstorm's Nightmare...
She woke up from her night rest at midnight to see that everyone was gone, even Clumsy. She thought that they just left to go find more firewood or food, but the more she thought of it, the more she thought that that just didn't make sense. No one just disappears in the dead of night, unless something happened to them.
She started calling out for them, "Clumsy! Smurfblossom! Hefty? Brainy? Smurfette?"
No one replied so she got out her bow and arrow on the ready, just in case anything pounces on her. She started walking deeper into the forest. Still calling out for them, but mostly for Clumsy.
"Clumsy? Come on. If this is a joke. this isn't funny." She started getting worried. She kept walking until she reached a river. She stopped to rest there. She stood up, but something, or rather, someone pushed her into the river.
She looked back and saw that it was her sworn enemy, Gargamel.
"Have fun drowning!" He laughed as he and his animal friends left the river
She tried to keep her head up on the surface, but it was hard due to the rough currents. She tried to look and saw a silhouette of a smurf.
"Clumsy." She thought in her head as the currents kept pulling her deeper into the river. She started getting pulled down underneath the water and it started getting harder for her to actually breathe and keep her head above the water.
She started gasping for air when rocks and currents pulled her underneath the water. When she wasn't looking, her head hit a rock and she started sinking into the water as she was starting to get lightheaded. It wasn't normal for her to be scared, but right now, she was more terrified than ever.
In The Real World...
Clumsy woke up due to Smurfstorm's shaking. He didn't know what to do to make her stop, and he was starting to get worried for her. He then thought of an idea. Every time he was scared, she would always say comforting words and do any affectionate things. So, he decided to do just that, but not too loud to wake up the others.
"Shh, Stormy. I'm right here." He whispered while rubbing her back and hugging her. "You're gonna be okay."
She was still shaking, but it was starting to die down. So, he figured it was working and continued doing it.
"No need to be afraid, I'll always be here whenever you need me." He continued saying comforting words. And even though she was asleep, she could hear his words through her sleep and she started calming down. He kept continuing until she finally stopped shaking.
"Shh, shh. I love you, Stormy, and I'll always be here to help." He said, and those 3 words, 'I love you', made her calm down completely. She stopped shaking and she returned the hug. He was a bit startled at the sudden gesture, but just went with it and hugged her back as he went back to sleep.
Smurfette woke up in the morning first. She looked around to see all of her friends were still asleep. Then, she got a view of Clumsy and Smurfstorm hugging in their sleep and started snickering. Hefty heard her snickering and woke up due to it.
"Smurfette? Why are you snickering?" He asked. She couldn't stop, so she just simply pointed at Clumsy and Smurfstorm. He also started laughing quietly enough for those two to not hear.
Though, it was loud enough to wake up Smurfblossom and Brainy.
"What are you guys doing?" She asked
Brainy tapped around the ground to find his glasses. Smurfblossom found it for him and placed it on.
"Thanks and what on earth are you two laughing for?" Brainy asked. They both pointed towards Smurfstorm and Clumsy cuddling in their sleep. They looked in their direction and started laughing hysterically.
Clumsy and Smurfstorm both started waking up, still in their embrace but didn't notice as they were still pretty sleepy. They heard laughter coming from their friends, as their vision started getting clearer.
Smurfstorm was the first to ask, "What are you guys laughing at?"
"Yeah, it's kind of getting creepy." Clumsy added
They kept laughing until Smurfette spoke up, "Sorry. It's just that you guys were cuddling in your sleep." She then added, "You still are, right now."
Clumsy and Smurfstorm looked at each other and saw that she was right. They both blushed furiously as they instantly separated. Clumsy now just remembered what happened last night.
"Clumsy! What were you doing hugging me?" She asked, still embarrassed.
Clumsy looked at her apologetically, "I am so sorry, Smurfstorm. You were whimpering last night and after I calmed you down, you just hugged me in your sleep. I didn't know what to do, so I just hugged you back."
"Oh, I didn't realize that I actually hugged you." She said
Clumsy was now curious, "Why were you shaking like a leaf anyway?"
Smurfstorm almost admitted, but then remembered the others were watching, and she didn't want to admit she had a nightmare in front of the others. She then said, "Let's go somewhere more private."
Clumsy yelped as she dragged him away from the others. The others were slightly confused about why she didn't want to say it in front of them, but just shrugged and thought it was private.
"Okay. I didn't want to admit it, but I just had a nightmare last night." She admitted
Clumsy was confused why she was embarrassed about that, "Why are you embarrassed about having a nightmare? I get nightmares all the time."
"Well, no offense, but it wouldn't be embarrassing for you because you goof up all the time, so it wouldn't be new for you to get scared of nightmares. But for me, I'm the village's toughest warrior. It would be embarrassing to admit that I got scared because of a silly nightmare." She explained while looking down
Clumsy shook his head while smiling, but understood what she meant either way. He then said, "I know you're the toughest warrior in our village, but that doesn't mean you can never get scared." She looked up at him, "And you should know that you'll feel better after sharing your fears with someone you trust. And never forget that I'm always here for you when you need me."
She smiled warmly at his words. She then came into an embrace with him, "Thanks." She whispered, "You always know what to say, you big goof."
Unbeknownst to them, the others have been watching the scene from afar. When they broke apart, Smurfstorm looked behind Clumsy and saw that the others were watching. She glared at them and they scampered off to do their own thing.
"Well, let's go back to the others." Clumsy said, "We need to go back to finding that wand before Gargamel finds it first."
"Agreed. Let's go." They went back to the others and started packing their things to continue. And just before they got on their respective animals, the girls and the boys had a chat with each other, separately.
Hefty nudged Clumsy on the shoulder, "Bro. When are you gonna make a move on her?"
"Yeah. I've also been meaning to ask that." Brainy added.
"Me and Brainy both already did it." Hefty said.
"I'm just not sure yet. Stormy's great and all, but she didn't strike me for the romantic type." He shook his head, "And don't get me wrong. I know she wouldn't hurt me without permission, but it still would fall on her like a ton of bricks."
"Also, true. But technically, Smurfblossom was the one who made the move on me on our first official date." Brainy corrected Hefty, "Not me." Hefty just rolled his eyes, but then went back to talking.
"We won't push you. So, just do it when you're ready." Hefty said to Clumsy.
"Thanks. I'll think about it though before actually doing it."
Meanwhile, the girls were having a conversation of their own.
"Hey Stormy?" Blossom started
"Hmm?"
"Has Clumsy kissed you yet?" She asked as if it was a normal question to ask, "Just curious."
Smurfstorm instantly jolted her head up towards her. She calmed down from the sudden question, but she did ask.
"No, not yet. Why do you ask?"
"As I said, I was just curious." She giggled.
"No, but has Brainy or Hefty made a move on you guys yet?"
"Hefty made a move on our 5th date if I wasn't wrong." She then giggled, "Must've had a lot of confidence as it was just our 5th date."
"And I was the one who kissed Brainy." Smurfblossom said, "Not him to me, he was a bit too chicken to do it. So, I did it on our first date." She giggled.
Storm shrugged, "I'll just wait till Clumsy has the courage to do it. I won't push him."
Smurfette and Smurfblossom simply nodded. They all got on their animals and headed off to find that wand.
As they were going through the forest. Smurfstorm and Smurfblossom noticed this particular area, but they couldn't remember what it was because they moved to Smurf Village 6 months ago which made them forget about some things in the Forbidden Forest. They were both trying to remember what this place was.
Smurfstorm suddenly got a headache and because she was the one flying, she lost control of the steering. Fire Mist suddenly jolted towards a tree far away from the others and Clumsy panicked. He regained control of the steer and landed them down safely.
He carried Smurfstorm in his arms off of Fire Mist. She wanted to protest, but the headache wasn't letting her do so. He laid her down beside a tree as the others caught up to them. Storm kept holding her head in pain and Clumsy was really getting worried.
"Smurfstorm. Are you okay?" He asked
Smurfstorm replied with all the strength she had, "I'm fine."
Smurfblossom stepped in and worriedly said, "You're clearly far from fine, Stormy."
"Yeah. Clearly." Clumsy said in worry
"I'm perfectly fine-" But she was cut off as she remembered a memory in this part of the forest. Her headache died down a little bit as she jolted her head up and finally remembered what this place was.
She got up and pulled Clumsy back on Fire Mist. Clumsy was confused and shocked at the same time.
"We need to get out of here. Now!" Storm panicked
Everyone, except for Blossom got confused. "What? Why?"
Smurfblossom thought really hard about what this place was. When she finally remembered, she gasped, "There's no time to explain! We need to go like right, now!"
Everyone knew better than to argue at a time like this and wasted no second as they all started getting back on their animals and steering away from this place. Without looking back, they heard a howl. They didn't look back and kept running away from whatever made that howl.
