Then Kara burst out laughing and took Lena for a little flight around the room, which made Lena shriek and giggle. Everyone else laughed as they watched the two friends and when Kara finally landed and Lena felt solid ground under her feet, Kara held her hands firmly but gently and said, "Lena, this is the most amazing gift. I'll always cherish it. Thank you so, so much! You are the best!"
And with that Kara fastened the necklace around her neck and put on the bracelet she'd received from Mon-El, beaming.
Then, as the group dispersed, unwrapping more presents, Alex turned to Lena once more, "Thanks for keeping her safe."
"Always", Lena answered and Alex' smile told her that the older Danvers believed that Lena truly meant it.
Her mind and heart full of happiness at the joy her presents had brought the others, Lena almost forgot to continue unwrapping her own. Until Alex pointed at the stack.
"You better get on with unwrapping, Miss Luthor or you'll be the only one left not knowing what she got", Alex chuckled and left Lena to it.
She immediately started unpacking more presents. And all of them were fantastic. She got a very nice scented candle from Kara's parents, a very cosy sweater from Maggie, who said that Lena desperately needed some comfortable clothes. James gave her a new fountain pen, knowing that hers had broken not too long ago. Then Lena unpacked Winn's present which was a vial containing the newest nanotechnology that Lena would need for a project she was working on. J'onn gave Lena her very own DEO ID badge, which actually made Lena laugh out. She knew that this was his demonstration of ultimate trust. Mon-El had a cook book for her, featuring quick recipes since he knew Lena liked cooking but was always too busy for complicated meals.
Lena was so happy about all her gifts, about the entire evening and that she had found a new family whith who she felt really comfortable that she didn't notice that she'd not unwrapped the little box Kara had given her. But before she could do anything more than realize this, Kara walked up to her.
"Hey, you feeling ok?" Kara asked.
Lena looked at her, smiling, "Yes, better than I've ever felt before. Thank you, Kara! Now I should really open your present, right?"
The reporter grinned, "Good! I'm glad! Take the box with you though. I'm going to give you my actual present now."
Kara took Lena by the hand and pulled her into the direction of the door. But they didn't leave the apartment. Kara just took Lena's coat and helped her into it. Confused but intrigued, the Luthor obliged and then followed Kara, who did not need a coat as she didn't get cold, out onto the balcony.
