Mb (I was so happy to see you thought the last chapter was a wonderfully written update! And I was glad you enjoyed them relaxing, lol, I thought it'd be nice to have a break from straight sightseeing for a little, and having fun too. Great the berry picking brought back memories for you and I'm not surprised you thought it was sweet, especially with how Josie was, I thought that might do that for some people. It was nice to see you thought Paul joining them along with it being his and Mari's birthday was a pleasant surprise. And I'm glad you thought it was a fun day them celebrating with their family and friends since it's definitely what I was aiming for. I was happy to see you could picture them singing with everyone there enjoying the mini concert as well! You're welcome for the first half of the chapter! And I was happy to read you thought the second half was a sweet and lovely filler too. It's great you thought through the entire chapter that Mari and Paul had a wonderful celebration as you put it for their birthdays. I'm pleased to see you thought Julia's gift of a really good camera was a great gift since I sometimes have a hard time thinking of gifts, lol. And I wasn't surprised you commented on Castle and Beckett finding a way to be together fully again, I had been planning to wait for a hotel but it didn't work out like that. Also not surprised you said it was a sweet release for them and happy to see you thought it was full of happiness for them too! You're welcome for sharing the second half!).
Thanks for the reviews, loved reading them and I appreciate the time taken to write them out and send them my way!
A/N #3: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Put It There by Paul McCartney, from his album Flowers in the Dirt.
Is Getting Lighter
Opening her eyes, Beckett realized she was smelling something from the kitchen and she turned over to see her husband's eyes blinking rapidly before they opened. "Someone's cooking," she said, hurriedly getting up and going to where her summer robe was on the dresser in the room. She stepped into her slippers and opened the door, smelling something cooking stronger before she was leaving. Going down the hallway she smoothed down her hair quickly before tying her robe closed over her just before she stepped into the family room. "Guys," she said with a smile when she saw the kids were all in the small kitchen, even the babies. "We said we'd cook," she told them slightly laughingly as they had heard her and the other mothers making sure the fathers knew they'd make breakfast for Father's Day.
"We know," some of the kids said together.
Julia smiled at her friends before she looked at her mother and told her, "We wanted to help you moms too."
"And we wanted to do this for our dads," Mari added.
"Where's Alexis?" Beckett asked.
"Probably still sleeping," Julia commented. "We didn't tell her we were going to do this." She frowned and asked her mother, "Should we have?"
"They went to bed late last night too," Rebecca said, walking up behind Beckett. "Good morning," she told the kids with a smile as Dani was squealing while she rushed up to her.
"What are you guys making exactly?" Lily asked, coming over as well. She took Sophie from Marie; thanking her for watching her; and then saying, "I smelled pancakes."
"I was just starting them," Julia said, smiling at the others. "They said I should make them."
"You learned from your dad," Beckett said, hugging Eliza when she came over to her. She took Josie, setting her on her hip and told the kids, "Thank you for wanting to help; have you made enough?"
"I think so," Eve said.
Laughing; since her daughter was looking at her; Lily went up to the counter and peered at the scrambled eggs they'd made that were in a bowl. "That looks like enough. Maybe a little more bacon Jake."
"Sure," the teen replied before he turned his attention to the package they'd gotten at the market the day before.
"I cut some cheese," Mari said. "And I'm starting on the toast."
"Good," Rebecca said. "Is that enough for Paul and Nancy?" she asked the other two women.
"It looks like it," Beckett said when Lily looked at her instead of responding.
"How did you guys get the babies away from the adults?" the chef suddenly asked.
"Getting Josa and Sophie was easy," Eliza told them. "Since they were together. And then we just snuck in to get Keo and Maddy and they were quiet; they were excited to come with us."
"Hopefully they don't think it's Christmas," Rebecca said in low voice to the others before they were starting to laugh together. "Okay, we'll help you finish-"
Protesting with the others Kathleen said, "Let us finish… let them finish," having to correct herself as she and her sisters were watching the younger kids. "There isn't that much longer."
"Alright, we'll stay here with you though," Beckett replied. "And we can wake the dads and everyone else up," she added, watching Julia though Eliza was speaking first and rapidly.
"What about 'lexis? She should wake up Daddy too," the little girl was saying in a rush.
"I'm up," the young woman herself said. Alexis smiled as all the others were turning to her and she explained to them, "I could hear you talking, and I was awake already."
"Louis?" Beckett asked, letting her oldest take Josie.
"He's calling Erin; they're going to wake Brennan up and he'll have a video call with them," Alexis said. "And Arthur and Ella," she added in a rush. "Erin needs to get them."
"Will he eat breakfast with us?" Eve asked.
"He will," Alexis assured her. She saw Mari had made the last slice of toast and put butter on it before she said, "Should we go?"
"Before everything gets cold," Rebecca said, picking Dani up and waiting for Mari to reach her.
Letting her daughters lead the way, Beckett smiled as the four were silent while they were walking to hers and Castle's bedroom. She debated telling them he was awake but decided he would enjoy surprising them before the four walked inside.
Eliza, looking up at her big sister, saw Alexis was nodding to the bed and she climbed up while her sister put Josie down. With the baby crawling to their father in a rush, she squealed and cried out to him, "Wake up Daddy!"
Castle didn't move, waiting for Eliza to touch his arm before he opened his eyes and let out a fake growl before sitting up. He laughed as both girls squealed in their surprise and he wrapped his arms around them as tightly as he could.
"Morning Daddy," Eliza said, smiling at him. "Happy Father's Day."
"Dada!" Josie cried out.
"Thank you, girls," Castle said, sharing a kiss with them both before he let them go. Alexis was standing next to his side of the bed and he held his arms out to her, hugging her when she sat on the edge.
"Happy Father's Day," Alexis told him with a smile. She kissed his cheek and then let him go saying, "Did they surprise you?"
Glancing at Josie and Eliza, who were both looking at him, Castle smiled and said, "Oh, they did. Thank you, sweetheart," directing the last to his oldest. He looked back to the other side of the bed and seeing Julia was watching them he motioned to her.
Hurrying over to him, the girl threw her arms around his neck and said, "Happy Father's Day Dad."
"Thank you," Castle replied. "And thank you for waking me up and cooking breakfast for us."
"You can tell?" Eliza asked with a smile.
"I can," Castle said, nodding his head. He then shared a quick kiss with Julia and told them, "We better get dressed and head out to eat. I don't want what you made getting cold."
"We'll keep Josie," Beckett told their three oldest. She smiled when they nodded and then left, and she closed the door behind them. She turned to her husband, seeing he was off the bed and she walked back to him before he was gathering her up in his arms. She wasn't surprised at his rough kiss but was when he was pulling away after what felt like little time though he was murmuring lovingly into her ear shortly after.
"I know we can't do that much but please let me do that every so often," Castle told his wife.
Beckett was smiling at his words and she told him, "When you have the chance." She laughed softly as he was nodding rapidly before they were kissing deeply again. That time they lingered and would have been doing that for a while if Josie hadn't called out, "Mama!" "Here sweetie," she told her, scooping her up in her arms and giving her to Castle. "Stay with your daddy while I change."
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Castle kept the baby's attention while her mother was changing into a blouse and then Capri pants. He glanced at her every so often until she was finished brushing her hair and he handed her Josie when she was sitting on the edge of the bed next to him. "I'll hurry," he said as they were staring into each other's eyes for a bit.
Beckett nodded and watched her husband jumping up and hurrying to the closet to get his clothes. She played with Josie as he had done until he was ready and she stood saying, "Time to eat."
"I wasn't going to," Castle told her as he walked up to her.
Laughing softly Beckett said, "I was telling myself that too."
"Oh… good," Castle said slowly. He then smiled at her and took her free hand, bringing it up to his lips to kiss the back of it. "I might be doing that for a while today."
Shaking her head; while she was smiling; Beckett told him, "Thank you for warning me."
"I had to," Castle replied. He smiled when she playfully shoved his shoulder, and they were sharing a kiss once he'd straightened. He held her hand while they walked to the kitchen, greeting the others until they were in the family room. They had to set up the tables for all of them to fit and once they were ready, he went to Eliza to help her out with getting her food.
"You should get your food first Daddy," Eliza told him firmly.
"Don't worry," Castle told her firmly. "I don't have to be." He then began getting eggs, bacon and pancakes on her plate before giving it to her. He thought she would go over to the table the kids would use when she remained next to him. "What's wrong sweetheart?" he asked as he was scooping some eggs.
"Are we still gonna have McDonald's?" Eliza asked hopefully.
"We will," Beckett said in amusement. "But you need to eat your breakfast first you know."
"I do," Eliza replied.
Smiling at her husband, Beckett got Josie's plate and was going to take it when he took it from her. "You-" she started to say.
"I've got it, you still need to grab your food," Castle told her before he went to where their baby girl was sitting in between two empty chairs. He waited for his wife to grab her food and once she was ready they were sitting on either side of Josie. "Here you go," he told the baby, setting down the smaller plate Beckett had used.
"Yes," Josie said immediately.
"Oh good, hopefully you'll eat it," Castle said jokingly before he and his wife were laughing, making the baby do so as well. When they calmed down, they started to eat as the others were doing and when they had been for a while he was surprised when Brad was suddenly speaking to Paul and Nancy.
"Are you two going to be able to order anything there?" the chief enquired.
"Kate called Xavi and Beatriz for us," Paul said. "And they mentioned a friend in Madrid who orders a tortilla sandwich when they go, and a salad."
"Is that enough?" David asked.
"It will be," Nancy answered with a nod. She then smiled and said, "They were very quick to assure us it's a fully vegetarian meal."
After they were silent for a little, Eliza couldn't help saying, "You can't get fries though." She was a little surprise at first that the others were laughing at her before she was joining them at the end. "But you can't," she repeated.
"No, but we don't mind," Paul assured her.
"What if someone takes a picture of you while you're there?" Julia asked as they were finishing their food and getting everything to the sink.
"I'll be in disguise," Paul said, tapping the end of his nose with his finger. He expected the girl to laugh at that but when she frowned, he did so as well and said, "What's this? You don't want me to be?"
"Oh, no," Julia said in a rush. "It's not that but it's Father's Day…"
"Oh," Paul said in understanding. "Don't worry, my kids knew I would be out and they're spending the time with their own families. I've already called them though and we had a very nice conversation. And they've had Nancy and me promise we'd have dinner with them back in England." He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and hugged her close before he told her, "Don't worry, I don't mind joining in with you all."
"Okay, I just wanted to make sure," Julia said. She hugged Paul tightly when he'd done the same to her and after letting him go she went to help clean everything up.
As soon as they were ready, Beckett was driving to Zamora, leading the way since Xavi and Beatriz were attending church in the village. "I hope Constanza doesn't mind cooking for so many of us," she commented once they'd crossed the bridge over the river.
"I kind of get the feeling she won't," Castle said.
"Mommy?" Eliza asked from the back seat.
"Yes," Beckett replied, sharing a quick look with her husband.
"What's cocido?" Eliza said.
"It's different meats and soup," Beckett answered. "Your grandpapa requested it since we're moving on to the next city tomorrow."
"City?" Julia asked in surprise.
"You'll find out later," Castle said with a smile.
"You're no fun," Julia said, playfully sticking her tongue out at him.
"Sorry but I'm not kidding," Castle replied. "But you girls should like it, it has chickpeas and chorizo and a few other things."
"If you're worried about Paul," Beckett said hurriedly before her daughter could say anything. "Constanza is making some breadcrumb patties with vegetables for him and Nancy; she remembers they're vegetarian."
"I'm glad to hear that," Julia said seriously. She settled back to look at the view of the countryside they were passing before her little sister was speaking next to her.
"What are going to do first?" Eliza asked. "Lunch?"
Smiling, since he wasn't surprised she was thinking that, Castle said, "The museum first. And then go look at the river."
"It's near the museum?" Julia asked.
"It is," Beckett said first.
"Just a block away and then we'll walk around the town," Castle said. "Before lunch," he said to Eliza, playfully squeezing her ankle since he could reach it. He smiled when the little girl squealed in joy before he was sitting back in his seat.
"We can't walk to where it is?" Julia asked.
"It's far," Beckett said before her husband could respond. "So we'll walk more along the river I think."
"That sounds good to me," Julia said quickly.
"Yeah, I like that too!" Eliza said.
When Josie started to squeal Beckett laughed softly and then said, "I'm glad to hear that. Now we just need to get there."
"There isn't really traffic," Julia commented. She realized what day it was and asked, "Is it 'cause there's church?"
"It is," Castle answered since his wife was concentrating on going through the city which they'd reached.
"I wonder what we're gonna see in the museum," Eliza told her big sister.
"I know, but it's the history of here," Julia said. "And it's the history of Xavi's family… Beatriz's too."
"They didn't want to come with us?" Eliza asked as her mother was parking.
"They have church girls," Castle said. "And wait there you need to come out on my side," he told them since his wife had parked in the street. When he'd opened the door and Julia got out first, he said as he was getting Josie from her chair, "And they wanted to have pinchos afterward."
"Were we supposed to go to church?" Eliza asked, getting out of the back of the car once her little sister was out of the way.
"No, and while you would have heard it in Spanish the babies would likely have started to fuss," Beckett said.
"So we learn the language better?" Julia asked. She smiled when her mother nodded and said, "I think we are now."
"Smart aleck," Beckett said, playfully pinching her cheek. "Everyone's here," she then told her husband when she saw they were all gathered around the sidewalk. "Let's go."
The group walked together to the building and the kids were hurrying to it, touching the walls and amazing over the bricks.
"I wasn't expecting that," Darnley told his friend as Maddy was with the others.
"I know, but how often do they get to see things like this?" Beckett asked him with a smile.
"Or the design above the door?" Castle asked. After the kids had taken some pictures of the building, they were able to get them to go inside and they were allowed to go in for free before a man was walking out from the museum itself.
Hearing the rapid Spanish, Julia's eyes widened and she looked at Marie and Kathleen since he'd directed his speech to Skye and Mary in particular. "What do you think?" she whispered to the two.
"I don't… oh, I know what," Marie started to say. "They sang."
"That's right," Julia said, knowing the girl meant in Madrid. She smiled and said, "Your moms are super famous."
Mari shared a smile with Julia as the twins laughed softly and by then the man had left. She was about to ask what he'd said when Mary was telling them while they were moving to the first exhibit.
"They all know us from Madrid," the doctor said. "And they recognize you guys since you were in the background."
"What did he say though?" Nkosi asked.
"To welcome us to the museum and if we had any questions there are workers," Mary said with a smile at her wife.
"Did he recognize me?" Paul asked quietly while they were looking at a long display case of pottery.
"Didn't mention you," Skye told him as she smiled. "So rest assured. And take off the bloody glasses."
"Cheeky," Paul said teasingly as her tone had been joking.
"Thank you," Skye replied easily before they were walking down the different items inside.
After they had looked at the prehistoric items they came to the Roman collection and Eliza was taking pictures of the gold items the museum had before she realized something. "Mommy?" she asked since her mother was nearby.
"Yes sweetie?" Beckett asked, thinking her daughter needed some help with her camera.
"What about this?" Eliza said.
Frowning a little in her confusion, Beckett saw she was looking at the display of bracelets and asked, "What do you mean?"
"They look like they came from Ireland," Eliza explained.
"Oh, well the Romans were in Ireland too," Beckett said as she realized what her daughter was asking.
"Cool," Eliza said.
"Do you want one?" Castle asked her jokingly.
"No," Eliza said with a giggle. "Buy one for Mommy."
"No gold please," Beckett told her husband in amusement when he turned to her.
"I had a feeling," Castle said.
"Daddy," Eliza said suddenly with a gasp.
"What?" Castle responded, gasping himself.
Eliza couldn't help giggling at his tone and she told him, "You have to buy something for Mommy for your anniversary."
"You don't think I did already?" Castle asked, watching Beckett walking ahead.
"Good," Eliza told him with a smile.
"Are you okay?" Julia asked Mari as she was walking up to where she was standing looking into a display.
"Yeah, it's so sad seeing this broken like it is," Mari replied since there was a black statue's arm, broken a little above the elbow.
"I know, but at least they kept it," Julia replied. "That way we can see it now."
"I wonder what it was like back then here," Mari said, turning and looking around the room they were at.
"They probably liked it," Julia said. When her friend looked at her, she smiled and explained, "My dad said the weather is like in Rome."
"Oh cool," Mari said. She smiled and then said, "I forgot they're the same weather." She then said, "Are you ever gonna go to Italy?"
"I think so," Julia said with a nod. "Dad wants to take Mom."
"Shopping?" Mari asked. She smiled when her friend gave a simple nod in response and she then said, "Neat, I hope we can go too."
"You will," David said, walking by with Dani. "But who knows when it'll be."
"And we are in Spain now," Jacob said, walking by too.
"Everyone's eavesdropping on our conversation," Julia said to her friend.
"I noticed that too," Mari said before they were laughing together.
Walking with her friend through the rest of the Roman items, Julia was impressed with the sculpture of two men sitting together and she took a few photos of that before she said, "Do you like this museum?"
"Because it's small?" Mari asked in response. At her friend's nod she said, "I do, it's really different stuff… I guess 'cause I've never been to this country before."
"Probably," Julia told her. She then hugged her tightly and said, "Did I tell you how happy I am you're here too this time."
"Oh, just once… and then a bunch of times in Madrid… and then…" Mari started to say when her friend was playfully punching her shoulder which made her stop. "But I'm glad to be here too. I can't wait to see the river."
Studying her Julia said with a smirk, "And lunch too huh?"
"A little," Mari said, indicating that with her fingers. She and her friend were laughing again before they were walking and heading to the medieval section of items and they were looking at some religious paintings.
"Are you enjoying this at all?" Beckett said to Paul as they ended up together.
"I am, never really been in this part of the country," the singer replied. He smiled then said, "The kids are enjoying it as well. You parents were concerned about that."
"Of course, we have to make sure they're occupied," Beckett said. She was about to ask if he and Linda had had to do that while on tour with Wings before she stopped herself. She was startled when he suddenly spoke and was addressing that very subject though she hadn't said a word about it.
"Luckily the kids were fascinated by everything we were seeing so Linda and I didn't have to really work to interest them," Paul said. He smiled after speaking and said, "And you're doing a good job with going places for the kids."
"You've only heard what we've done with the kids for a week," Beckett protested.
"Still," Paul said before they were laughing.
"Mommy!" Eliza was calling then.
"I better see what she needs," Beckett told the singer. When she had reached her daughter she said, "What's wrong sweetie?"
"No, I wanted you to see what's here," Eliza said eagerly, nodding to the gold and silver item. "It's really pretty. Is it old?"
"Very," Beckett replied with a nod. She smiled and then said, "But let's keep going, okay?"
"Yeah," Eliza said with a nod. She reached for her mother's hand and they followed the others until they were soon reaching the end of the museum. When they had done so she said, "Are we finished?"
"We are," Beckett replied. "But we do get to walk around by the river."
Nodding Eliza said, "Okay."
Beckett laughed softly before they were leaving the building and heading down to the path by the river. She was with her husband at that point and she smiled at him murmuring, "Did you enjoy that?"
"Of course, a lot of history," Castle said with a nod. He leaned over and kissed her cheek before he took her hand. "Are you taking pictures?"
"Isn't it a little late?" Beckett replied with a slight smirk.
"I guess," Castle said before he smiled as she laughed softly. He watched her taking pictures of the river and buildings across the street from them saying, "It's a nice picture."
Nodding, Beckett said, "I love the colors."
"You do?" Castle said in surprise.
"Yeah, it fits this country," Beckett explained. She smiled as he was considering it and had to let go of her hand shortly after as Josie was grabbing his chin.
"I know sweetheart," Castle replied. "Your mom is definitely right." He kissed her gently and then said, "What about you? Do you like it here?"
"Dada," Josie said quickly.
"No yes?" Castle then asked her.
"Yes," Josie repeated.
Beckett laughed briefly and said, "You should have said that first."
"I know," Castle replied with a smile. "But hey, I'm glad she said it eventually." When his wife just smiled, he squeezed her hand quickly before they were continuing to walk.
After they had walked for fifteen minutes the group was stopping and turning to each other before they watched the water next to them for some time.
"What do you think?" Castle said to the others.
"It's going to take us a while to get back," David commented.
"And some of the kids have been mentioning they're hungry," Darnley added. When some of the other parents looked at him, he said quickly, "Not ours, but I've been hearing them."
"I'm a little hungry too," Beckett added.
"Me too, we've been doing quite a lot of walking," Skye said.
"Then I think we're decided," Mary told everyone.
"Then why are we still standing here?" Skye asked.
"Are you kids ready?" Castle called to them.
"To go to lunch?" Eve asked first.
When the adults all nodded Mari said, "I am, I'm hungry."
Since the other kids were saying the same, the group turned back and began to walk to where their cars were. They split up there before they were driving north to where McDonald's was.
Parking the car, Beckett said, "I didn't realize it was a shopping center," as they were looking at the building.
"Yeah," Castle said absently. He realized his wife was looking at him and said, "Oh, I mean, Xavi didn't tell your dad?"
"If he did Dad didn't mention it to me," Beckett replied, smiling at how he'd spoken. "We better go though."
"Can we walk around a little?" Julia asked before her parents go out of the car.
"Alright," Beckett said, stepping out of the car shortly after. She went to the back and said, "You know that it cuts into our swimming time, right?"
"Oh…" Eliza started to say.
"Don't worry," Julia said. "I just want to walk around a little… wait, do we go inside?"
"We'll find out now," Beckett said as her husband stood up from the back seat, Josie in his arms.
"Okay," Castle told them. "We have to go; the others are leaving."
"Daddy's hungry!" Eliza cried.
Beckett laughed with the girls as Josie was squealing in reaction and they walked to go inside before she and Castle were in line together to order for their family. "What?" she asked him while she was looking up at the menu.
Squeezing her hand, Castle told her, "I wonder if we should go around at all."
Shaking her head Beckett said, "We have to ask everyone else. The kids know we have the swimming pool and the dinner and they'll want as much time in the pool."
"True," Castle said quickly since he'd thought of that already himself. He kissed her cheek and said, "It was great wasn't it?"
"It was," Beckett said, smiling at him. "But are you talking about the museum or walking together by the river?"
"River," Castle said before she had even finished speaking.
Beckett smiled and they hugged one another with one arm before they were stepping forward a little more. They would be next and she leaned into him, telling him in Irish, "I wish we could be together tonight," looking up at him once she had finished and waiting for his reply. She was a little startled when he didn't speak for a while and then turned to her before murmuring into her ear gently while she pressed closer to him.
"I'm still waiting for our hotel room," Castle explained to her. He lightly kissed her temple and then added, "We don't have to do anything but…"
Smiling up at him for a moment Beckett said simply in Irish, "Ná bíodh imní ort, déanfaimid," which meant 'don't worry, we will.'
"Bandia," Castle managed to have the chance to breathe to her, calling her a goddess before they were stepping up to the next open register to order.
Beckett squeezed her husband's hand firmly before they were ordering for everyone and once they had finished she asked him, "Should we wait or head back to our tables?"
"Maybe wait," Castle said, wrapping his arm around her waist. He squeezed it gently and then said with a smile, "Is it wrong of me to say I can't wait to continue?"
"No," Beckett said easily. When he looked at her in slight surprise she explained, "I'm ready to see more; we've been here already."
Castle nodded before he turned with her towards the tables their family was at, seeing Josie was starting to walk over to them. He let go of his wife and hurried to their baby, picking her up and saying, "What're you doing sweetheart? We're almost ready to bring lunch over."
"Mama," Josie said.
"Oh… sure," Castle said, smiling over at his wife. He walked to her and said, "I guess she wanted you."
"Probably," Beckett said absently, turning her attention to Josie. She kissed her cheek and said, "Did you miss us sweetie?"
"Oh, am…" Josie started to say.
"You can say yes now," Castle whispered to her.
Josie laughed before she said, "Yes," suddenly. She laughed again when her mother was kissing the side of her head before telling her, "Mama."
"I know sweetie," Beckett told her, kissing her again.
"That's us," Castle said when a number was called.
"Will you be okay?" Beckett asked him.
"Yeah, you can take her to the table," Castle replied quickly.
Beckett nodded and went back to the girls who were at one of the tables waiting for them. "Are you ready to eat?" she asked.
"Yep," Julia said first. "I tried not to let Josa walk but she didn't want to listen."
"I can tell," Castle said. "We could tell," he corrected himself while he was passing around the food. He went to the table Alexis was at with Louis and her grandparents and went back to the other table, seeing Beckett was talking firmly to the girls.
"We can't have dessert; we're going to have it at the dinner tonight okay?" she told them.
Sighing Eliza said, "They looked so fancy, tasty."
Beckett smiled and cupped her cheek before sitting next to her saying, "I know, but we'll have a better dessert I think."
"Constanza will make it herself?" Julia asked.
"Most likely," Castle said before he was frowning.
"Beatriz is going to help," Beckett told him. When he looked at her questioningly, he smiled and said, "I thought the same but it's what she said."
"Okay," Castle said, turning his attention to his burger. After he'd taken a bite, he looked at Julia and asked, "What do you think?" as she'd gotten a chicken sandwich.
"It's really good," the girl said. "Thanks for letting us try it," Julia directed to her mother.
"You're welcome, I knew we would come," Beckett reminded her. "After Mexico City, but remember, only once."
"We know," the two girls said at the same time.
Beckett was laughing with her husband and daughters, Josie doing the same before they were returning to their food. When they had finished, she helped her husband while the girls were watching Josie for them. Leaving the restaurant, she was surprised when her husband stopped her from going to the car and was calling the other families over to them before he was telling them why he'd done that.
"I just thought, what if we brought something for the dinner tonight?" Castle asked them. "And get it here since I'm getting the feeling it's a large store."
"It is," Jim said quickly when the others turned to him. He smiled and said, "I haven't been in it since it was a store called Eroski."
"You told us about it last time," Julia suddenly said. When her grandfather turned to her she said, "When we drove by it you saw the name was different."
Jim nodded and then smiled before telling her, "I remember now."
"It's a good idea," Rebecca said. "But what exactly are you thinking of taking for them?"
"Wine? To be honest I just thought of it so I don't know what would be best," Castle said.
"Constanza likes marzipan," Julia said.
"She does," Jim said. "And we should get Paco and Santos a nice bottle of sherry; they enjoy that as well."
"Cooking or drinking?" Lily asked swiftly.
Jim looked at her, startled at how fast she'd spoken, and then laughed for a moment before saying, "Drinking, he wouldn't cook with it."
"Are we still going to be able to swim?" Jacob asked.
"If we hurry in and go now," Castle said.
The parents weren't surprised when the kids were asking to do that, and they went together inside though Castle and Beckett went into the market itself as there were other shops outside of it the others looked at. They bought a couple bottles of good sherry and then two boxes of marzipan so the family would have some left over for after they moved on from the village. Once they had met up with the other families and the rest of theirs, they were returning to their cars and driving back to the village for their siesta before they swam as it was getting warmer and warmer that summer day.
