Chapter 9

*1 hour later*

I snuggled in my coat and laid down in the chariot. It had taken me much longer then I thought to climb the hill, which should have been expected seeing as how I had no energy.

But now I was laying down in the in the chariot, getting ready to sleep as I waited for Deimos.

I tried to think of what to tell him.

I couldn't just tell him I lost the stone could I? And I definitely was not ready to admit my loss just yet. I decided to just forget about it for now and just relax.

It then hit me. Where was Deimos? I hadn't seen him the entire day, and there was no way he spent that long searching.

He would've either got bored or came back to me, but I hadn't seen any sign of him.

"I guess he found something else to do." I decided, before I closed my eyes.

I decided it would be best to just sleep and wait for Deimos to come find me. I didn't really feel like searching in my current state, plus I don't think I had the facilities to protect myself.

But no beast would attack me when I was on the chariot seeing as it radiated godly energy.

So with that in mind, I let myself fall asleep. And for the second time this week, I had dreams, to my surprise.

As soon as I closed my eyes, I saw darkness swirl before me. Like my previous dream, I had my right arm back, a weird feeling to be honest.

I looked in front of me as the darkness took shape. Soon I found myself on the deck of a ship, I quickly realized by the hard wood floor and the open sea all around me.

"Not the same boat." I realized. This one was slightly smaller judging by the first look.

I was starting to wonder why I was here when I noticed something that should have been impossible to miss, and the fact that I hadn't noticed it made me think that it had magically appeared.

In front of the boat was a massive 50 feet tall wave, multiple times bigger then the boat itself. I felt my jaw drop as I stared at the wall of water. Deciding I needed to do something, I reached my hand out to summon the stone of souls, hoping to think of a monster to stop the water, but it was then it hit me.

I no longer had the stone, even in my dream.

I took a step back as the wave started to descend downwards. I felt my eyes widen as I realized how quickly the water was coming.

I instinctively reached for my ring, as if I was going to cut the wave in half, but even it was a dumb idea, it didn't matter because I learned something as I reached for my weapon.

I wasn't even here. I was simply a bodiless spirit of a sort. I suppose I was here just to watch, watch what exactly? I didn't know.

But my question was soon answered when I heard a voice from behind me.

"It's coming too quick! Hurry up and do something unless you plan on being swallowed whole!" I heard a female voice yell from behind me.

I immediately turned around to see multiple beings across the deck, but three noticeable ones directly behind me. Two girls and a guy.

I located the voice to be the girl standing in the back, and I assumed she was talking to to the guy because she was staring right at him.

But he wasn't even looking at her, in fact it didn't even look like he had heard her. The boy was completely stricken by fear as he watched the wave come down on him.

I started to wonder who had sent me here to watch three people, who seemed to be around my age, drown to their death. We're they demigods? Maybe. But that still had nothing to do with me.

Just as it seemed that it was over, I felt a presence enter the area. I looked behind the three beings to the open door at the end of the deck. That's where it was coming from.

I could feel a presence, but I couldn't see anything from the dark room. After a moment of silence, a being emerged. And you should have seen the look on my face.

The being that came through the door, was none other then me. But not me, me. More like a different version of me.

The me that was now walking towards the three beings was a lot more elegant looking, his hair looked nicer and his skin was more fair.

He looked like what I imagined a demigod would actually look like. I started to wonder if this was even me, but the face was identical to mine.

Plus his aura was much like my own, but not as ruthless, but just as scary. Though he didn't look as rough as me, I could tell this version of me was capable enough.

But what was he doing with these three, about to die, and what could he do against a massive wave?

Despite the fact he was about to die, it looked like he had a plan, as he simply stared at the wave, a look of determination on his face, as if he was going to scare the wave away with just a stare.

But what he did next was much more then a stare. This new version of me reached behind him, and out of no where a bright glowing great blade appeared on his back. Something about it was familiar.

My clone grabbed the hilt of the blade and ripped it off his back. I stared in wonder as "I" held the blade that was almost my height in one hand, a look of blazing determination in his eyes. He looked completely different then the calm demigod I had watched walk out the door.

The demigod raised his sword up in the air, causing it to beam light across the dark sea.

"Wha-..." the male demigod whipped his head around to watch the dream version of me as he held his blade up high.

"To be caught off guard in your own domain, it's pathetic really. I guess my hopes were too high." Said my dream self in a cold tone.

"But I guess..." My dream self swung his sword downward with full force, a slash that seemed to split the air itself. The sword lodged itself in the hard wood deck as the being stayed frozen with his blade stuck in the ground.

It was quiet as the wave continued to descend.

What was he even trying to do? Split the wave with a sword?

I wondered this as it seemed that everyone on the ship was about to drown, including my dream self. Just as it seemed it was going to be over, the air pressure changed. I could feel the temperature around me drop down to almost freezing, then back up to blazing hot.

As soon as the temperature returned to normal, I saw a massive slash of light come from my dream self. I watched as the beam of energy made its way straight through the wave, going through it with ease, but it didn't stop the imminent wall of water.

For a second I thought it was fruitless, but after a moment, there was a boom, almost like thunder, as the wave was split in half, the water evaporating right before it hit the boat. I watched as soon the water all disappeared, causing the rain to fall harder.

The three beings stared at my clone who still hadn't moved from his striking position, his sword still wedged in the deck.

"But I guess I can't expect too much from a demigod like you." The boy said, finishing his sentence. My clone stood to his feet as his sword dissipated into gold dust, I'm assuming he could summon it at any time, much like my retribution.

I watched as he turned around cooly and made his way back to the door he had come through. I watched as the three demigods stared at me, the other me.

As I looked at my dream self, I felt myself get taken over by amazement. To split a wave of that size with the simple swipe of a sword...was something only a god was capable of.

I wondered if this was a future version of myself, but I decided it wasn't. Though on first look, the dream version of myself was much more desirable looking compared to me, something about him made me dislike him.

I determined that this was in fact not me, but a possible version of myself. Plus he didn't even look too much older then me, so it was impossible for me to change this much in that short amount of time.

I found myself making excuses, trying to convince myself that the being that I had just watched was not actually me. This may seem strange, he was obviously strong and all, but I just found that I had a strong feeling of distaste just from looking at him.

I watched as the demigod made his way into the room on the deck and slammed the door behind him. Based off his attitude it looked like he didn't even want to be on the ship, so what he (I?) was doing in the middle of the ocean was beyond me.

But I didn't have time to think, as I felt the dream shift to darkness. Just as it seemed I was about to wake up, I noticed something in the void.

I couldn't really tell how far, but in front of me there was another being floating in the blackness. Was I not in this dream alone? It looked like it.

I knew it wasn't impossible to have another in dream, but it had never happened to me. Wait...was I the one who was in his dream? Was that why I had no idea where it was?. But I guess it's like that for every dream huh?

I tried to get closer so I could see the other being, but I couldn't make his face out.

"Who are you!" I yellowed our. I immediately took out my blade. Dream or not, retribution would cut down any enemy. It was made to deal with spirits.

(I don't really know why it appeared now as opposed to earlier, but I wasn't complaining.)

"Wait hold up, I don't want any trouble!" Yelled the being, but I wasn't listening.

I floated over to the being with my scythe branded.

I watched as the being tried to maneuver, but he obviously didn't know how to move in the void.

As I got closer, I noticed that the being had a surprisingly strong aura.

But I didn't much care.

"Stay back!" The demigod said immediately whipping out a sword, from where, I don't know.

I stopped in my advance, surprised by this move.

I watched the being as he held his blade. Though he seemed like an idiot at first, he now had a determined gaze.

"If you raise your blade to me, then that gives me the implication that you are an enemy..." I raised retribution in front of me and span it a couple times. "Do you want that?" I said as menacingly as I could.

To be honest I didn't even know if I could fight in this dream state, but if I needed to, I would.

Though I knew that i gave off a menacing presence, I didn't expect the being to back off. Assuming he was a demigod, he probably didn't no any better.

But to my surprise the demigod simply let out a sigh of relief and put his blade away.

To most, it may have seemed cowardly, but there's no point in fighting an opponent when you are outmatched when you can maybe talk it out. I guess the boy was smarter then I thought. (Saying that though, he didn't look too much younger then me.)

"So...who are you?" He asked after a moment of silence.

"Are you a god?" He asked, which pretty much confirmed he was a demigod.

Before I answered I put away my scythe. I decided to maybe be nice, because I kinda wanted answers.

"No, I am not a god. What I am isn't important though, what I want to know is what your doing here?" I asked.

"What do you mean, this is my dream." He said, emphasizing the "my".

"And what makes you so sure about that?" I responded.

"Because I saw you come in. I tried to say something but you were focused on what was happening."

That's when something clicked in my head.

"Wait, who are you?" I asked. "Who's your parent, and what are you doing on that boat. Is that even you?" I sprayed the demigod with questions as my head started to form an idea.

"Uhh, well, first off my name is Th-"

Before the boy could finish, the dream started to swirl. Damnit! Deimos must've been waking me up.

"Hurry!" I said, but it was too late, the dream was already fading. Just my luck, and based on the things I had been going through, I probably wouldn't even remember this moment.

I watched as my vision started to shake and the boy disappeared. I closed my eyes, and the next second I was met with the dark night sky.

Sorry for the inconsistencies when it comes to chapter length. When I had wrote these chapters, I had just been writing, not labeling the chapters, but I'll try my best to make them 4k words without having them end abruptly, though I guarantee at least 2.5k per chapter.
