Chapter 8: Shotgun

It had been a few weeks since Percy had proposed. A few weeks that felt like heaven. He was engaged to a beautiful, caring, and kind woman. He got to hang out with her more, but still balanced his job with his relationship. Everybody in the Greek world knew and hardly there was a place where he could go without getting a clap on the back. Life wa perfect. Then things got a little rushed up. Artemis was on one of her walks with Percy when she said, "Percy, I want to tell you a secret."

Percy had always been very open to Artemis' past and any secrets she held so Percy said, "Shoot away."

"I am sort of, you know, um . . ., pregnant?"

Percy froze in his tracks, "Say what?"

They turned around to face each other and Artemis said, "I'm pregnant with your child."

"How?"

"Well you see, when"

"I know how you got pregnant, but it was only once!"

"Percy, remember your child with Annabeth?"

"Yeah, Junior. I get your point though. Who tells your father?"

"You."

"Don't you want us to get married? We can't get married if I am dead."

"Then who? Me? No way."

"Apollo?"

"My brother?"

"He is the god of medicine."

"Have a shotgun wedding and have Apollo tell your dad right before that? He might not kill me then, and he wouldn't kill Apollo."

"You know he probably can't and won't kill you."

"I know, but still."

So they had Olympus and the campers gathered. Everyone thought it was weird they'd get married faster than they thought, but thought maybe they wanted to get it out of the way. Grover served as best man while Hera performed the ceremony. For a wedding put together hastily, it still looked perfect to all who showed. When they had said their vows and kissed Artemis announced, "We have something to tell you all!"

They had decided on leaving Apollo out of it. Percy continued, "Artemis and I are expecting a child."

The crowd went crazy and cheered while Zeus just sat there, stunned. Hera was also stunned as well as a couple of other gods. There was a big party afterward and everyone partied like there was no tomorrow. There was alcohol served, but neither Percy nor Artemis drank.

Eight and a half months were all it took. Artemis' hunt along with a few other beings were waiting in Apollo's waiting room while it was Apollo, his assistant, Percy, and of course Artemis inside the delivery room. A baby came out and Apollo said, "It's a boy!" Everyone there cheered but then Artemis began pushing again as Apollo handed the baby of to his assistant. The second baby came out and Apollo exclaimed, "It's a girl!" The people in the waiting room cheered again as they heard everything while Apollo asked, "Are you done?" Artemis started pushing again and Apollo said, "I take that as a no." Percy passed out and as the third baby came out and was in Apollo's arm he said, "It's another boy. I think you are done now."

The triplets were shown to the world as Apollo revived Percy by kicking his foot. Percy asked, "Triplets or more?"

Apollo laughed, "Just triplets. The two boys and a girl."

Percy stood and looked over to where his children lay. The girl had auburn hair and silver eyes like her mother and the two boys each had black hair, but one with blue eyes and one with sea green eyes. Percy commented, "At least one of them have my eyes? My daughter looks exactly like her mother though if she were an infant."

Before the triplets could be completely introduced to the world, they had to have names. The few that had gathered along with those who were actually in the delivery room pulled up chairs and thought on it. Percy asked, "Will they have middle and last names or what?"

Artemis inputted, "They will have last names and middle names. They are all Jacksons of course."

There was a collective murmurs of agreement. Apollo suggested, "Artemis gets one name, Percy gets another, and then they work together on the third?"

"That could work," Artemis replied, "I get the girl, Percy chooses one of the boys, and we can work together on the second boy?"

Percy inputted, "That would work. I choose the boy who has blue eyes. I have an idea for the name."

Artemis asked, "What would that be?"

"Sal Chiron Jackson. After my mother and Chiron, the two who raised me."

The collective few people agreed and nodded their head while Artemis exclaimed, "That'd be a great idea!"

Percy put down baby Sal and bowed, "Thank you. I wonder what his godly powers might be."

Everyone opened their eyes wide and Apollo said, "Well they are gods. I can sense that from over here."

The collective few people agreed about the godly power thing as Artemis asked, "Zoƫ Thalia Jackson. I like it, you guys?"

Percy smiled warmly, "Just perfect."

Apollo quipped, "That leaves the last boy."

Artemis and Percy started whispering in each other's ears, then said together, "Apollo Gabriel Jackson," Artemis continued, "after his uncle and the mortal who stunk so much he masked Percy as a young half-blood."

Apollo looked giddy, "After me? Yes!"

Apollo did a weird little dance as the rest of them laughed.
