Chap 8: Dread

Now he lay, curled in a foetal position, clutching tightly to his chest, the last and only remnant of his happiness while desperately trying to prevent the tears from falling.

By the time the official couple woke up, Zane, P.I.X.A.L and Cole were already ready to pick up their two remaining brothers. Naturally, Nya insisted on coming along and you do not want to be on Nya's bad side.

Rather than waiting along side the robot couple, Cole decided to go check on the Oni one last time before leaving. Since Nya and Jay would be coming, Osore would be free to wonder around. However, he should probably still remain vigilant, Wu was supposed to be back today. When? Heavens knows.

Cole slowly pushed his door open (he couldn't technically knock his own door but at least this way, Osore would know he was coming. He didn't know what he was expecting, but he certainly didn't expect the Oni to smoked into existence. It kind of reminds him of Ash, from the tournament of elements, only with thicker and darker fumes and more impressive. Oh well, at least it won't be hard to hide him.

"Back so soon?" The black being asked to which Cole shook his head

"Changed of plans. Jay and Nya are coming too, so you have the whole Monastery to yourself. But Master Wu is bound to return sometime today." He explained with a shrug and the Oni nodded.

"So... What were yo-" Cole tried to break the awkward silence but it was unneeded as Osore interrupted.

"Child, why is it your eyes differs from each other?" Okay, not the question he was expecting but he wasn't surprised neither.

"Oh umm... I got it when I turned back human."

"You were not human before?"

"I was turned into a ghost a few years ago"

"I see. Is the scar on your forehead due to being a ghost as well?" Cole instantly covered the scarred with his hand.

"Is it showing?" He asked instead, but Osore only shook his head.

"Why do you hide it?"

"I don't really like it" the raven admitted, remembering all the wierd looks or staring everyone does when he pass by. It made him feel self conscious, as if his time as a ghost wasn't bad enough. It was a constant reminder.

"But you are fine with the eye?" Cole's only answer was a shake of his head. He would have hide his eye too, but they didn't have time to learn one eye peripheral vision. Plus, his eye glows which is very apparent when he coveres it.

In the silence of his room, the earth master was able to hear the monastery doors closing. Nothing special, until he realised the guys were leaving without him. A feeling of dread grabbed him.

Did... did his friends forgot him?

Nah, he was being ridiculous. He was human now so they wouldn't just forget him. It wasn't like the Day of the Departed. His friend just forgot to call him, that happens. It's nothing. (Wow, talking about his ghost experience made him a little paranoid)

"Gotta go. See ya!"

Cole rushed outside to join his teammates. They apologised for not warning him of their departure and of course, he told them it is totally fine. But one thing Jay said stuck and brought forth the sense if dread tenfold

"We completely forgot about you"
