Tonight Huey was coming over for our first date. He didn't want to go anywhere out to eat because they had unhealthy options. We had looked at the menus of what he liked online before going. He didn't like any of the menu options and he said he wasn't going to eat a salad like he does every time. I told him we could just have dinner at my house since I make a lot of vegan meals during my free time.

He couldn't argue that down because he knew I cooked vegan meals. He saw me do it a couple of times when he came to my house. Plus my parents won't be home, so they can't see me and Huey on a date. If they were here everything would be awkward. Both of my parents would be fangirling over me and him. So it was good that they both had to work late tonight.

I didn't have on anything spectacular except for this cute apron that had my name spelled out in curvy letters. I wasn't going to put on anything cute yet because Huey was going to help me make the food. I don't know if it was because he was being helpful or because he didn't fully trust me to make his food.

I heard the doorbell ring and I had smiled because I knew it was Huey. I skipped to the door like a little girl getting all excited. I took a deep breath to calm myself down and answer the door. When I saw Huey, he was dressed in nice casual attire. I looked in his hands to see he had some pink roses in his hands. "Hi Huey, you look nice!" I smiled trying to keep my squeals down. "Hey Jazmine...umm these are for you!" he slightly waved and then he nervously gave me the flowers. I brought them close to my nose so I could smell them. They smelt good as always.

"Awe you remembered, I didn't think you paid attention to some of the stuff I told you," I felt my face heat up. "I listen even if it's just nonsense," he said. "Okay! Well, I pulled out some of the ingredients for what we are going to be making," I said pointing at the kitchen. I walked back to the kitchen to go get him an apron for him to wear so he wouldn't get his clothes dirty. It was my dad's apron, but he only wore it on special occasions. For instance, it's usually on his and my mom's anniversary.

I held out the apron and he looked at me funny. "I'm not wearing that," he shook his head. "Why not?" I was confused. "Read what it says," I looked at it to see it says 'Daddy'. "Okay, what's the problem?" I was confused. "Just wear it so you won't get your clothes dirty," I simply said. I tossed him the apron and said "Now get to work Daddy!" I clapped my hands. "Please don't say, Daddy," he said looking uncomfortable. I was still confused and I guess he had noticed that. "You're giving me mixed signals by saying it. And I beg of you to not tease me tonight," he simply said.

I didn't know why he was so uncomfortable, but I wasn't going to argue with it. "Ok, I wasn't planning on calling you that, but sorry to make you uncomfortable," I told him. He slowly had put the apron on while I pulled out an avocado peeler/cutter. "So what am I going to be doing?" he asked me. "You're going to be peeling/cutting these avocados," I said holding up the material. "You know how to use this?" I asked as he shook his head. "Ok this is how you do it," I said grabbing an avocado. "First you're going to evenly cut it open, take the seed out, and then you slide the cutter across inside," I showed him.

I handed him avocado and he slowly started to cut it open. This was a surprise to me because Huey usually never needs help with anything. "So what are we exactly making?" he simply asked taking the seed out of the avocado. "We are going to be making Blackened Tempeh with Avocado with kale and vegan cajun ranch. Have you ever had that?" I asked him. "No, I haven't tried it, but it sounds good," he said.

"Yeah it is, but while we're preparing the food, what do you want to talk about?" I smiled at him. "Umm how was your day today?" he thought about it. "It was alright, nothing special if you want me to be honest. What about you?" I had then looked at him. "Other than Riley and Grandad yelling at each other, Ruckus being races, Riley acting like he and Cindy are grown, Ceasar and I talking about political stuff, and Hiro testing out some new beats," he told me. "Sounds like a lot, you know I always wondered if Ruckus knew that he was African American too," I thought about it.

"He claims he is white," he mumbled. "He doesn't look white or maybe he is. Maybe he's either hyperpigmentation or colorblind," I put out theories. "Maybe, but it doesn't give him a reason to be races. I remember he was criticizing me and Riley that one time he came to babysit us and Riley and I shot him with our BB-Guns," he told me as I giggled a little. I feel so bad for thinking that was funny. "Why do you guys even have guns in your house?" I simply asked him not to be rude. "Right to bear arms!" he smirked. "Oh, that makes sense. I can never think about holding a gun, I don't even want to see them," I told him.

"Well you know guns have been around since 1364 and people are just using them for their advantages," I didn't want to reminisce on what people do with them. "I hate some of those advantages, a matter of fact; I hate when people gotta resort to violence to solve their issues. I understand when they are using it for a good reason, but just for nonsense makes me really upset. It kinda makes me scared that my dad has to deal with those types of people," I told him as he was a little taken back. "I knew you hated when there was no world peace, but I didn't know you had deep thoughts about it," he said slicing the last avocado.

"Well, I do and it makes me upset that there will never be world peace in some countries," he looked down and just didn't say anything. "Okay enough about this talk, can we please talk about something else, like something funny?" I simply asked him trying to hold in some oncoming tears. "Yeah, umm, well today when Cesar and I went out to the soccer fields, he had kicked himself with his own ball," he told me as I started to laugh.

"Oh my gosh, how?" he had smirked trying to contain a laugh. "He tried to do one of those backflip kicks into the goal and it ended up going wrong. He kicked the ball to his face while flipping and he had knocked himself out," I started to laugh so hard that I snorted. "Is he okay?" I kept giggling. He had to think about it and nodded his head. "I took him home and put ice on his forehead then left to go prepare for the date," he told me. "Huey ice doesn't solve every problem," I rolled my eyes. "Well he is okay and no serious damage was done. All that was done was humiliation!" he had smirked.

"Does his parents know?" I softly asked him. "I don't think they know. He told me his parents are celebrating their anniversary, so they're most likely gone somewhere," he told me. "Oh my! I might go check up on him tomorrow to see how he is doing," I thought about what I was going to bring him. I heard Huey's low growl and gave him the look. "Is there a problem?" I crossed my arms. "No!" he said while gritting his teeth and glaring at the ground. I grabbed two plates and started setting the food on there.

Huey didn't say anything for a minute or two until he had looked at me. "You know what I do have a problem with it," he scowled at me. "Ok, what's your problem? I thought we settled the whole misunderstanding thing," I started to take the plates to the table. "Yeah, I understand you're nice, but-" "But if you are so uncomfortable with me going to go see our other friend; why don't you come with me," I set the plates on the table. "You know as a matter of fact I will come along," he followed behind.

"Splendid!" I exclaimed. I didn't feel like changing, so I just sat down at the table. He sat down as well and gave me the look. "Okay, let's say grace!" I held my hand out. He looked unsure until I told him: "I'll make it quick!" and smiled at him. He gave me his hand and I bowed my head then closed my eyes. "Lord we thank you for this food, aye man!" I graced. "You say grace all the time?" he asked as I nodded.

"I don't go to church as much like I use to. I usually go on once in a while," I said. "Umm how's a dance going for you?" he asked trying to make the conversation keep going. "Uhh it's not going so well, everybody's either not getting the routine down or they aren't doing good in school," I told him. "Yeah, I have a class with some of the people you dance with. They usually sit by the smart kids in class and cheat. One of them even tried to cheat on me," he said as I mumbled a "tsk".

"Yeah and the sad thing is that this is varsity!" I exclaimed. "So enough about me, how's the A.F.R.O Association Club going?" I asked him. That association that Huey had when we were little had gotten a little bit bigger. The only people that were in it were me, him, and my stuffed animals. When we got to high school, I had kinda gave him the idea to start a club at school. Nobody didn't join freshman year, but then a couple did sophomore year.

I was only in the club my first year so Huey wouldn't be lonely. I don't think he minded being alone because he got to finish up some stuff. I helped a little with it and did a bit more research on it. I'm honestly not that into politics, but I did just for him. I spread the word about the club our sophomore year without him knowing about it. There are ten people in that club which is good.

"It's going good, we're planning a fundraiser so we can donate money to the people in Africa," I had then smiled. "That's good!" I had then seen him smirk. "Yeah and Riley keeps trying to offer his assistance," he sighed. "No no no no no no no no no no...do not let Riley run a fundraiser again," I shook my head and crossed my hands back and forth as a disagreement gesture. "Yeah, I'm not going to need his assistance. I will admit he can bring more money because he knows where to get around, but then it will get out of hand." "Yeah cause it was fun doing the fundraiser until it got out of hand," I agreed with him.

"I remember he was upset with me when I had donated all that money to help animals," I snickered. "He was pretty pissed that day when I had told him what you did with the money," he smirked. "Well at least I did it for a good cause instead of getting involved with mean guys who shoot at you, so I feel no shame at all for it," I crossed my arms. "You shouldn't, you did what all people should do in the fundraiser, and thanks to you specifically all those animals are still doing well till this day forward," he pointed at me. I felt my face heat up and covered it a little bit.

"Yeah, I'm proud about that. The one thing I wasn't proud of was eating meat. A year later once I found out where meat came from I was upset with myself," I sadly had said. Huey looked confused and kinda stopped eating. "Where did you think meat came from?" he interestingly asked, but I shyly looked down and started to stiffen. "I didn't think about where meat came from. I just thought they called it meat, I didn't think animals were made of meat," I shyly told him.

"Is that so!" he lowly said. I sighed and started to look around the room. "So umm how was the sex for you?" I randomly asked. He was taken back by my question then thought about it for a quick second. "Wasn't bad," he simply had said. It ticks me off when Huey says simple things that don't add up. 'Wasn't bad' can mean anything. He probably said it just so he won't hurt my feelings. Maybe when he asks me I won't seem interested either.

"What about you?" he asked me. I wasn't going to say it was bad because it was amazing. I had enjoyed the mature sex we had. If I didn't know any better I say he wasn't a virgin, but he had told me I was the first person he had sex with. I wasn't going to argue with it at the time so I didn't say anything. "It was...decent!" I told him. "Decent?" he re-questioned. "Yeah it wasn't too good and it wasn't too bad," I simply had said.

I started to pick at my food and slightly look at Huey who wanted to say something, but he wasn't making it too obvious. I just took a bite of my tempeh and waited for him to say something. Surprisingly he didn't say anything just yet. "Let's change the subject, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?" I asked. "Didn't you hear, the gang's parents and us are all having Thanksgiving at my Grandad's house?" he had told me.

I can't believe I wasn't aware of the news. "I'm surprised and shocked," I was confused. "About what?" "Mainly not hearing about the news and that we're all having it at Mr. Freeman's house. No offense, but it's kinda obvious Mr. Freeman doesn't like when some people are at his house," he cocked his eyebrow up and shook his head. "You're right on how he doesn't like when people come to his house. When he tells you, you can come in at any time, he's being rhetorical." "Yeah, I kinda figured, which is why I always knock," I said agreeing.

"The only person I know that he shows some kindness to is you," he said. "Most of the time everybody likes me, I'm just a nice respectful girl," I smiled. "Yeah, you are...Jazmine, I'm not sure if I ever have seen you do anything mean to somebody even when they were being mean to you. Most of the time I think people who are cruel to you just deserve karma," he had told me as I giggled a little. "Huey I'm never going to waste my time trying to ruin someone else's life. Their past + present will reflect on their future. The best I can do for that person is pray for them and hope the best for them," I softly smiled while picking at my food once again. "Plus you are one of the people that already gotten karma," I smirked just reminiscing the memories.

"When?" he cocked his eyebrow. "When you got head-butted by your former best friend," I giggled. "That was not funny," he lowly said. "Maybe not to you, but for me it was. I'm sorry your nose was hurting, but at least it healed," I tried to contain my laughs.

"Yeah, I learned one lesson that day,"

"Yeah and that was?" I chanted.

"To never shake hands and try to amend with somebody," he simply said finishing his food. I finished mines and went to go put both of our dishes in the sink. "Well Jazmine thank you for the lovely dinner, I'm glad someone around here gets the meaning of not eating meat," he thanked me. I didn't think he needed to add that last part, but I just smiled and said: "You're welcome Huey!".

"You need me to stay or are you good?" he concerned asked. "I'm good with staying by myself, I'll call if anything goes wrong," I told him. "Or just come to my house if needed," he said. "Okay, thanks for the offer. Good night Huey and get home safely!" I said watching him open the door. "Jazmine I live across the street, nothing bad is going to happen," he pointed across the street.

"I know, but anything could happen, so stay safe!" I said hugging him before he had left. I watched from the blinds as he walked across the street to his house. Once he made it inside I started to turn off the lights and make sure the doors were locked. I got dressed in my pajamas and laid down in bed. As I rest on the soft mattress I couldn't help but smile at how Huey and I's first date went. We may have had some intense conversations but it was still good. I can sometimes barely get Huey to talk unless he is trying to be politically correct. But tonight he seems like he got a little out of his comfort zone.
