Day 8 - Have

I decided to add a twist to a scene already played out and depicted in chapter two and then reenacted in a later chapter by Kurama. What I am referring to here is the confession on the roof top right on the last day of school, where Hana tells Kurama her feelings and he rejects her in order to protect her from the life he leads. The twist is, what if Kurama was the one actually confessing to Hana? This entire alternate universe/setting is short circuiting my brain lol. Enjoy.

Hana's POV:

I cocked a brow as I read the obnoxiously polite message found in my locker "If I could have a moment of your time, please meet me tomorrow on the roof top. I wish to discuss something with you." Signed Kurama. Why couldn't he have texted me or something, instead opting to be this mysterious figure asking for a moment of my time? There wasn't a reason not to say yes, he could've wanted to talk about a mission, give me another book, advice, I don't know. But why a handwritten note?

Nevertheless, the following day, I walked up the stairs leading to the roof top, Kurama already being there, waiting for me "Not late or anything am I?"

He turned his eyes towards me, flashing a charming smile "Not at all, you are just on time." His eyes focused back on the grounds below us "It is rather warm today, makes for a perfect last day."

Alright, we were on talking terms, we had missions, we got to spend countless weekends at the temple getting to know each other while I integrated in the group. Why are we here talking about the weather? It's like we reverted back to us being complete strangers "Mhm, I guess." I nodded absentmindedly walking closer to him "Is everything ok with you, you seem a little off."

"Is that right?" his brows lifted slightly, a low chuckle being hidden behind a graceful hand "Apologies, I guess I am trying to find the right words." A small dose of panic set in, heart beat picking up and he sensed it in a flash "No need to worry, everyone is safe, this is more of a how should I put it?" he smiled once more "A personal matter."

"Yeah ok anything, what can I do to help?" I asked in a flash, hand reaching out to touch his forearm, a gentle squeeze to reassure him I was there for him.

His head dipped, something darkening his features before he spoke once more "I will have you know that this is something I have never done." He was serious, dead serious as he looked me in the eye "However it holds great importance to me, better yet you do." I froze, hand still holding onto him, brain feeling like it was short-circuiting "Over the last years Hana you have managed to intrigue me and I found myself focusing more and more on you."

Finally I found it within me to remove my hand, brows furrowing, Kurama's eyes narrowing slightly.

"I see, no need to worry. Perhaps you find it childish that such an old demon called you on the roof top of the school in order to tell you he fancies you."

Shaking my head I forced a smile on my lips "No Kurama, I don't see it like that. It's just that I…" come on spill it before he gives you an even dirtier look "I don't see you that way."

"You fancy someone else, but who?" he was puzzled, logic wining in the end "You act the same towards all of us, so it's someone who isn't in the group perhaps. A class mate…" he calculated, probably going over all the interaction he witnessed and that was scary the scary part "You do not have the necessary time to find someone from outside the group. Work then?" he was reading into every expression I was giving him.

"Sorry bud, none of those are accurate." Rubbing my temples, I tried to power through his idea of having met a demon all on my own "Kurama, please stop. I actually don't like anyone and that's the truth. All my energy is spent on missions, you guys, work and studying. I don't think I actually have time for a relationship."

"I see." He smiled once more "I appreciate your honesty Hana." Then why are you looking so hopeful?
