Hi guys, it's been a while since the last update.
As some know English is not my strong suit, but I try to do my best. And I try that my mistakes do not hurt the sensibilities of the readers. (This story has had many mistakes that over time I have been able to correct, although one or another escapes me... and I'm sorry for that!)
With this story I have had some inconveniences to update.
Although this is my first story and the first thing I have written, I had many doubts to continue, but I dared to write one more chapter. But like I said before, I do my best and hope to give it a proper ending. And thank you all for the feedback and interest in this, I really appreciate it!
Anyway this chapter will have a second part. After that I will write a little more about Klonnie's relationship.
Let's see how it goes with this one first! And I really hope I don't disappoint you.
TOO LATE.
- Nine. Part I
A week later.
During the last few days Bonnie put her personal life aside, she knew that everything in that area was terrible. She didn't need others to remind her, she stopped caring long ago what people thought of her love life and social life.
After everything that had happened at her wedding and in the days that followed, she needed a break.
And she found it at work.
Her work was the only thing that Bonnie cared about, her work was the only thing that gave her the will to carry on, in the most difficult moments, her work was her escape and her refuge.
That's why when she arrived at her office, she would automatically forget everything around her. Like today, she put aside the fact that she was a married woman, that her husband was an idiot in love with another woman, that her husband's daughter hated her despite seeing herself as a harmless little girl for not being able to speak.
But the little brat was anything but harmless.
A movement of her head made her turn away from those thoughts.
Anyway... The point was that Bonnie chose to ignore everything that had happened in the last month and focus on what she did best, her job. And right now it was something that badly needs her full attention.
Inside her office she heard the discussion coming from the hallways.
Samantha's voice could be heard slightly altered. So Bonnie just waited until the person responsible came in without any invitation and less without anticipation.
The door was opened wide and Samantha's nerves were dazzled behind Héctor Zamora's bitterness, the administrative representative of the board of directors, the man who believed himself to be the owner of the family's assets because he believed he enjoyed Sheila's support.
"You've lost your mind?"
was the first thing he yelled when entering.
Bonnie looked at him knowing what he meant.
A very nervous Samantha tried to explain, but Bonnie signaled for her to leave the office.
Now completely alone with him, Bonnie looked at him without feeling intimidated.
A long time ago Hector tried to have more than a working relationship with her and Bonnie obviously disagreed.
And that not only hurt his manhood but his ego, to the point of negatively changing his attitude towards her. The respectful relationship turned unpleasant and today was a sample of that.
The look of disgust in Hector's eyes told she a lot.
"I can ask you the same question, Hector." Bonnie sighed irritably.
"Where is the cargo? You don't have any management to authorize the movement of that cargo."
Bonnie crossed her arms and settled into her desk chair. "You talk about my cargo, because, I do have the power to do whatever I want with it."
Héctor approached, puzzled, with his hands resting on the table, "that cargo... is owned by the company!"
Bonnie looked at him a little thoughtful, she didn't have to explain to anyone and less to an idiot like him, but she would gladly rub it in his face.
"Hector... didn't you read the descriptive report that I sent to each department? I suggest you read it before coming to my office to spit out inconsistencies!"
"Don't think that because Sheila is your grandmother you can do whatever you want, the concession belongs to Bennett Group, no-"
"Enough!" She didn't let him finish spitting out his trash.
"The concession was only obtained by my own means after I lost the support of Bennett Group due to the second rejection that the producers of Brazil gave to our proposal. I had an approval to resume conversations without provision of any financial contribution from the company. I myself legally carried out an independent project, and it seems that you forget that all the directors approved that agreement without any problem!"
Héctor narrowed his eyes, "the agreement was made in the name of Bennett Group, you don't have the means to obtain this!"
It was true, but Bonnie had covered that part very well.
"Hector, why do you think my grandmother and the executives have not pronounced?"
Hector walked around the office like a angry dog, unable to believe what Bonnie had done.
He stopped and said pointing at her with his finger.
"I will request an urgent meeting to analyze your condition Bonnie. You will not get away with it, it does not matter that you are Sheila's granddaughter. If I can prove that you and your team are using the company's funds. No one will save you from this. Did you hear me right? No one!"
Bonnie got up from her chair and took small steps in his direction. She spoke calmly without even feeling a twinge of nerves at the threat.
"Hector... You are at liberty to do what you please, but again I advise you to read the reports so that you have a base and can speak properly and do not act like an idiot in front of all the managers..."
Standing in front of him, Bonnie looked up, damn why she hadn't worn the high heels.
"Now... I want something to be very clear between us, I will not tolerate that you threaten me like that in my own office! what you do or stop doing I don't give a damn, but if you threaten me again or question my work, or if you try to discredit a member of my team, or even if you try to meddle in my affairs. You yourself will be the one to regret it, did you hear me right?"
Turning her back on him, Bonnie couldn't help but scoff.
"So get out of my office! you can go and cry in your special hideaway."
At the same time that Hector left, Samantha entered with a terrified expression, next to Lucy.
"Can someone tell me what's going on? Why did Hector's bootie come out more maddened than normal?" Lucy asked with a grimace on her face.
Samantha looked at Lucy.
"It happens that they are going to fire me, that's what happens..."
Bonnie snorted in annoyance. "of course not..." she replied to Samantha immediately and Lucy was more confused than before.
"Can either of you two explain better?"
Samantha looked at Bonnie.
The whole situation had been carried out with extreme stealth and speed. Just when customs approved the entry of the ship to begin unloading and the agency received the order to authorize the handling of the cargo.
Bonnie moved her contacts to carry out a new loading process with another carrier company, taking control of the shipment before the company sent supervisors to carry out the arrangements.
Everything was done quickly and in an organized way. Over the past few days Bonnie and her entire team had worked hard to get everything in order and ensure the successful transfer of the cocoa shipment to another warehouse.
As Bonnie said, she was not going to allow them to keep her cargo.
With Bonnie's permission, Samantha explained to Lucy without giving much detail.
"Bonnie prevented the new shipment of cocoa that was negotiated with the producers from Brazil from reaching the factory, and now..." Samantha looked at Bonnie again , "She is negotiating it with the competition..."
Lucy opened her eyes "What...? Bonnie! is that true?"
But Bonnie didn't answer, she just walked up to her desk, and Samantha couldn't help but vent by waving her arms everywhere.
"And now I might be fired for sending the new transportation route... oh my god, I have two kids to support!"
Lucy stopped looking at her cousin and the new information surprised her more, "Samantha, do you have children?"
Bonnie rolled her eyes, "of course not... she talks about her cats!"
Samantha opened her eyes.
"They are like my children Bonnie... unlike you, we... the commoners have no influence. You saw how Hector got. Nobody will be able to do anything when your grandmother wants to fire someone, and surely it will not be you. It will be me, oh God... what have I done?"
"Samantha, no one is going to fire you, you forget my signature was on that authorization, I am the only one responsible, so calm down! And..."
Bonnie was tired of listening to Samantha. "It hurts me to see that you don't believe in me... also for your peace of mind I have legal support that favors me, and why do you think no one has spoken out yet?"
"But you heard Hector... I'm sure he won't be stay in peace until-"
"Hector is nobody... he has no power over anything, and when he talks to the directors, he will be in for a big surprise... so stop worrying, please?"
"okay, okay..." and with that she left the office.
Lucy waited for Samantha to come out, and she focused once more on her cousin.
"How the hell are you going to deal with all this? And by the way if the company doesn't have access to this burden, that means that no penny went out to cover those expenses. My question is... did you embezzle money from the company? Because, I absolutely refuse to believe that you did something like that, cousin."
"Don't worry, every penny of the company is well protected."
"How the hell did you get the money to do this transaction?" Lucy asked in surprise.
Bonnie sighed calmly, No, she hadn't, not yet.
"I still don't have the money."
Lucy opened her mouth and got up from her chair, this time she reprimanded her forcefully.
"Are you insane Bonnie? How the hell are you going to cancel such a sum of money as big like that?"
Bonnie dropped her weight onto the seat and grinned from ear to ear.
"I have only three days to make the first payment and... I already have two offers to resell the entire cargo and... with that I make a relatively good profit."
Lucy sat back down, she couldn't close her mouth after that. Lucy knew that Bonnie was a little bitch at work, but this was taking it to another level.
"You're a little bitch Bonnie... this is not your thing... God... you've only been married a few days and look at you, becoming a Mikaelson has really changed you. I don't think that's good for us. I can't imagine the face of the Grandma when she finds out that you are negotiating with the competition."
"oh shut up… the company won't be affected and I'm not doing anything wrong… but I need you to help me with this, that's why I called you…"
Lucy stood up and raised her hands in protest.
"Oh no, no! Mrs. Mikaelson, you won't get me involved in this whole thing, I have enough that Grandma thinks I'm the black sheep of this family..."
Bonnie rolled her eyes as she heard her cousin.
"Lucy..."
For a while they both looked at each other without blinking.
Damn, Lucy couldn't say no to her, but she would take advantage of this.
"OK... but on one condition..."
Bonnie narrowed her eyes and leaned her body forward, leaning her elbows on the desk, "Are you setting me conditions without knowing which ones are mine first?"
Lucy imitated Bonnie, "Yep!"
Bonnie smiled and dropped back into her seat, clicked her tongue, and nodded.
"Ok, what do you want?"
Lucy grinned from ear to ear in amusement "Have you talked to Damon?"
Bonnie opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
Yes, she had talked to him on her wedding day, not as much as she would have liked, but yes, she had talked to him and she hadn't seen him since that night. Damon had only left her a message with his phone number the next day and she just wasn't sure if she could call him.
But he wasn't going to tell Lucy that. She didn't even wait for that question.
"Where does that come from? Is that your condition? Do you want to know if I spoke to him?
Lucy straightened up and smirked.
"Yes... I've always been curious. You've never talked about him, but now that he's back, I have a chance for you to answer honestly, I want to know what happened between you two?"
Bonnie shook her head.
"Nothing happened! so stop gossiping and let's talk about important thin-"
"Wait-wait-wait, not so fast, if you don't want to talk about him. So, tell me how it went on your wedding night. You haven't given me the details. Did you do what I told you?" Lucy raised her eyebrows in a very suggestive movement.
Bonnie opened her mouth, the blush rising to her cheeks.
"Of course not! And shut up, I'll just talk to you about business! Nothing more."
Lucy snorted, she sometimes hated that her cousin was so reserved. Bringing her hands behind her head.
"Don't blame me for not trying. Ok, tell me what is this big deal about?"
Bonnie was still uncomfortable by the comment, but with Lucy things were always like this.
However nothing would tarnish the perfect day she was having.
At the chocolate factory, Hector broke into Sheila's office. He told her everything Bonnie was doing and Sheila took no action to intervene in her granddaughter's affairs, and that completely infuriated him.
When he left her office.
Emily was alarmed by her sister's decisions, but even more so, Emily was amazed at her grandmother's carefree attitude.
Yes, it was true that the company was not going to suffer losses, because Bonnie's negotiation was something unexpected, no one assumed that she would be successful, therefore, no one within the company counted on that cargo. However, having access to a good cargo like that would be wonderful for quality in production.
So, seeing her grandmother so calm, Emily didn't just ask.
"Why not accept that Bonnie manage her new project? Grandma."
Sheila knew that Bonnie could manage B-CO, but she didn't want the Mikaelsons to get involved.
If Sheila approved the project, then they would have to give a part to the Mikaelsons and she did not want Bonnie's project to be tarnished with third parties, it was not fair to her granddaughter. Bonnie had worked hard and it wasn't fair to her.
That was why Sheila did not agree to the realization of a new production, but knowing that Bonnie was working in her own ways and behind her back, only made her feel proud.
"It wasn't the time, Emily… but we can negotiate with her, make Bonnie an offer, before the competition gets ahead of us."
Emily nodded and left her office.
Samantha opened the door and spoke from there.
"Bon… will you stay late? Again?"
Bonnie didn't raise her face… "yes, I need to finish this and... I'm waiting for Emily, but you can go, don't worry."
She just nodded, "ok… sure? Don't you need anything else?"
Bonnie lifted her face and massaged her neck.
"No, it's okay… I can handle it from here… thank you…" and she smiled.
Before Samantha left, she remembered something and went back to peek through the door.
"Oh, by the way... someone left something at the reception for you... Do you want me to bring it to you?"
Bonnie looked at her curiously, "Something?"
Samantha nodded, "I to bring it to you?"
Bonnie shook her head, "No, it's fine… you can tell Willy when he makes his rounds. So you don't have to go back upstairs. See you tomorrow."
"Ok... well see you tomorrow, and don't work so hard... you're a married woman, you should be with your husband!"
The last words were shouted from the lonely hallway.
Bonnie rolled her eyes at the mention of her husband.
Bonnie looked at the watch on her wrist.
It had been a while since Samantha left and since she received the second call from her sister.
The two agreed to meet in her office and although Bonnie hadn't finished analyzing a stack of documents, it was strange that her sister hadn't arrived.
But there was no major concern, Emily had warned her that she had had a setback and Bonnie was sure that this setback had a first and last name, Burak özçivit!
Of course...
She stretched a little in her seat and went about her business.
Two hours later, Emily had not yet arrived and Bonnie was finally done, so she didn't mind waiting a little longer.
She got up from her seat and stretched a little, walked to the window of her office and opened the blinds, it was already night, the traffic lights were blinking slowly.
Today had been a good day for her after all.
Bonnie smiled at the recollection of Lucy's nosy words, Yes, Damon was back... and, to tell the truth, she couldn't help feeling a little tingle in her heart when she saw him that night.
But her smile faded when she remembered Samantha's words, yes, she was a married woman...
A week leading a not fun married life.
And to think that it was her marriage that got her out of bed early in the day to get to work before the offices opened, and the one that made her work overtime to get back to that house late at night.
Bonnie put her hands to her head and massaged her scalp, loosening her long hair.
How did she go from thinking about Damon to thinking about her husband? No she didn't want to think about him...
I wonder what he's doing now? Niklaus? Not! Damon!
Bonnie gave a little cry of frustration, she turned away from the huge window. She needed a distraction, and Bonnie smiled looking at her desk, she had found that distraction.
With a frown, she looked at the envelope left for her at the reception desk.
Bonnie had completely forgotten about it.
She hadn't paid attention to it since Willy, the security guard, had brought it in and left it on his desk more than half an hour ago, but now after stretching her arms she was curious to see what it was about.
Bonnie took the black envelope in her hands and opened it...
Clumsily, the little photographs fell to the ground, damn it!
Bonnie reached down and lifted each one, watching with expectation.
She slowly got up and walked around her desk.
At first she did not recognize the images. With her frown she put the photos aside and checked the envelope again, nothing, there was nothing written, not a postcard or a name, nothing.
Suddenly a pang of bad omen.
The ideas in her mind became unstable.
The need to corroborate the identity of the person who had delivered this became too urgent.
Who had assured at reception that this envelope was intended for her?
What was this about?
Who sent this to her?
Her mind gnawed uneasily without understanding upon seeing the photographs again. She passed between her hands one by one of the photos, observing each detail to find some clue of its meaning.
An image hit her.
Her eyes widened in terror, Bonnie put a hand to her mouth. She remembered.
She remembered at the same time that the sound of the door being opened scared her.
Bonnie screamed in panic, dropping the photographs from her hands. "Oh shit…"
"Why are you screaming? it's just me..."
Bonnie hurried to pick up the photographs from the floor.
It was Emily closing the door behind her, walking without stopping talking.
"Sorry I'm late and... Why do you have to work late...? There is nobody here. It's kind of creepy... That's why I didn't want to come here, it was better if we met somewhere else, I don't know, maybe a restaur-"
Her nerves increased when she felt Emily approach.
"What are you doing? What are these photos?" Emily bent down and tried to help, but Bonnie snatched the photos from her hands.
"No-no, it's nothing." She squeezed her eyes in control of her stutter.
Emily raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "Sure?" Emily didn't believe her.
Bonnie barely opened her mouth "y-yeah, y-yeah, they're stupid pictures, that's all." she got up from the ground and walked without giving more information, keeping the photos in the same black envelope suspiciously.
Emily got up afterward. Her sister was hiding something, she knew it, but she wasn't going to pressure her.
"Have you eaten something?"
Bonnie took her time answering, she ran a hand over her face and hair, trying to hide her emotions very well. One second and all the chaos that swirled inside her head was controlled.
She turned to look at her older sister.
"No... but I'm not hungry, what did you want to talk to me about?"
Emily watched her for a while and took a deep breath.
"I come on behalf of the Board of Directors. They want to make you an offer."
fourteen months ago.
13 minutes ago she should have entered the consulting room...
This was her third session, she hesitated to come, but here she was.
Bonnie counted the minutes as she sat in a chair waiting to enter. She was completely stressed out and on the verge of breaking down, all the while she kept her emotions at bay, but her anxiety was driving her crazy.
20 minutes ago she almost lost control of her car.
20 minutes ago she heard something that completely disturbed her... if she didn't come into the consulting room in the next minute, she would leave.
Before getting up, the doors opened and Bonnie walked in with a noticeable expression on her face...
Camille was going to apologize for keeping her waiting.
She had received a call with an authorization to proceed with her investigation. She was going to share that news with Bonnie, but it was all forgotten when Bonnie's gaze scared her.
Camille didn't even have time to ask when Bonnie collapsed in her arms.
"He contacted me!"
"What...?"
"He contacted me again... What am I going to do Camille? What am I going to do?" her hands shook as she brought them to her mouth to suppress a groan.
Now Camille understood very well who Bonnie was referring to, but she couldn't believe it.
"First Calm down Bonnie, and explain well what happened..."
Camille sat next to Bonnie on the double sofa, still looking at her and encouraging her to speak.
"I-I-I received a tape recorder with a note that said, Listen to me. I-I-I thought it was a joke from the office guys, b-b-but..."
Bonnie got up and screamed in frustration. She couldn't even speak well. She was so upset with herself. She thought her stutter wouldn't come back and here it was again.
Camille stared at her from where she was sitting, she understood her patient's frustrations and how they were reflected, stutter was a sequel left by her trauma.
"Bonnie... don't push it, just breathe and let it flow."
Bonnie walked around the consulting room. She released the tension and closed her eyes to breathe. Bonnie did exactly what her therapist told her. It turned out, but she was still terrified.
"I received this..."
She took the recorder out of her bag still shaking and showed it to Camille.
Camille turned on the recorder.
"Hey Baby... I know you didn't expect this, but you know how much I like to surprise you. Do you miss me? Because I do, every day little Bonster... but soon we will be togeth-"
Camille stopped the recording and watched Bonnie cry.
"Bonnie... listen to me..."
Her eyes red and full of fear.
"No-no... you don't understand, when he does that, something bad happens, something bad happens Camille." her words alerted her. "oh my god, I must have..."
Bonnie abruptly prepared to leave, but Camille stopped her.
"Bonnie wait, I need you to calm down, I need to know what happened. When did he send this?"
Bonnie bit her lips.
"I don't know, this morning someone left it on my desk... I thought it was... I don't know, I didn't even ask, I just listened to it as I was coming here... I almost hit a car, I almost caused an accident..."
Bonnie was exalted, if she didn't control herself, she would have a panic attack.
"Are you sure it's him? Because he can't contact you, in any way possible, that would be serious for his condition and would bring him serious problems."
Bonnie wiped her tears away.
"It's not his voice, but the only person who calls me that, is him..."
Camille took a deep breath.
"Okay, I guess he's watching his back... very clever of him," Camille commented thoughtfully and turned her focus back to Bonnie, "but... still, you can't let this get to you, he's locked up and that's it. He can't hurt you. Now he can't do anything against you, you understand? This man has no power over you, Bonnie."
Bonnie shook her head, her eyes again moistened.
"You don't understand! I did something..."
This time Camille didn't understand.
"What? I don't understand, what are you talking about? What do you mean when you say you did something?"
Bonnie blinked and swallowed all her saliva.
"I... I did something! when I-I..." Bonnie widened her eyes in horror. "I did what you told me, I... tried, I met someone..."
Camille encouraged her to keep talking, "that's good-"
Bonnie shook her head, "You don't realize... when I try to get on with my life, he only comes to haunt me and-and-"
"Bonnie listen, don't let him control your life..."
Bonnie bit her lip hard again.
"He doesn't like it when I got close to people... I-I thought he was fine, I just met him a few weeks ago."
"What is his name?"
"André... his name is André. Camille... no one knew it. I was going to tell you today, and he... How did he know? How did he know abaout André?"
"Bonnie, he can't know it, he's just playing with you, just that. Don't let him do it, don't give him control, you're in control."
Bonnie nodded, but even her fear persisted, she tried to believe those words, but deep down she knew they were lies.
"You're right he can't get any closer to me... but I'm scared, I know he's just playing with me, but my mind betrays me, sometimes I feel like he's close to me looking at me, I've not slept for several nights, I think I was in defense mode and deep down I sensed something, it's crazy, when can I live my life if I'm a total disaster...?"
"When you don't let this control you," Camille pointed to the recorder.
"I know it's hard, but you can do it, Bonnie." Camille cleared her throat. "Trust yourself, you have the power to eradicate any thoughts about him. Tell me, The last time we spoke was about the nightmares... How have you been feeling? I thought you were taking what I pre-enrolled you. Since when can't you sleep?"
Bonnie sighed in disappointment,
"To tell the truth I haven't slept well and I don't want to take sleeping drugs, I don't even want to sleep. Every time I close my eyes I feel like he's by my window. It's an unpleasant feeling."
Bringing her hands to her face up to her hair, Bonnie stood up, her eyes immediately moistening. But Bonnie cleaned herself up quickly, she hated being emotional, she hated crying, and she hated that it affected her life so much.
"I feel like he's looking at me from the shadows... I know it sounds absurd, he can't get out of where he is, but... even so, I feel like he's close to me. I'm afraid of falling asleep, and waking up with him breathing down my neck... "
Bonnie tried to breathe slowly, hugging herself, forgetting that horrible memory when he was in her room. That nightmare was beginning to relive night after night. Her body trembled at the very thought of thinking of that.
Camille stared at the expression on Bonnie's face.
"Have you talked to anyone about what happened a few weeks ago?"
Bonnie shook her head quickly.
"Not!"
"Of course not, I haven't told anyone and I'm not going to do it, I know it's a mistake, but my family is finally calm, they don't deserve to be saturated with all this drama again..."
The least she wanted was for someone to find out that she had been hallucinating with him.
"I also know that it is just my mind playing a bad move. What I saw that day was not real, he was not there. Even if he dares to communicate with me, with things like this... He will not be able to get out of there, right."
It was more of a question than a statement.
But it was never a hallucination, it was him that day, seeing her secretly as he had been doing for a long time.
"I thought he would forget about me. He- he's never going to leave me alone, right?"
Bonnie widened her eyes in fear. She hated feeling like this, hated feeling controlled, that was what he had done to her since she was a child.
Camille watched the blank look in her eyes.
"I don't want to cry Camille, I don't want to be afraid anymore, I'm tired of doing it. Since I was a little girl all I've done is be afraid of him. Isn't he tired of this? It's been so many years trying to escape from him. "
Bonnie shook her head a little.
"I thought that being locked up he would leave me alone, but no! Even from there, he makes me feel like I belong to him and he knows it!"
She barely blinked.
"I'm afraid that he will come after me again and take away what little I have left."
Her thoughts haunted her.
"What more does he want from me? He took everything from me, my life, my father, my friends, everything and he knows it... What more does he want?"
Bonnie searched Camille's eyes for the answer.
That answer haunted her for a long time, Because Bonnie knew what he wanted, and what he wanted was her.
Camille hugged Bonnie and held her in her arms, she could feel a part of her emotions and she felt so bad for her.
"Bonnie, you can cry all you want, tears and pain do not define you as weak, on the contrary that makes you human, you need to cry everything and when there are no tears then we will start from there."
"No one should go through this. No woman or person should go through something like that. No girl should go through what she went through." Camille thought in anguish.
Camille took the moment to dare to ask, this had perhaps been the most conversational session they had ever had, Bonnie was still reluctant to participate, so Camille tried without pressure.
"I know it's difficult for you to talk about what happened. I know you haven't talked to anyone about it Bonnie, but... you need to release that burden that torments you, and when you do, I assure you that everything will be better... You can trust me."
The two parted ways and Bonnie only thought about it for a few seconds.
They all assumed what he had done to her, but no one knew in detail what he actually did to her. Bonnie never spoke to anyone, she always hid her pain.
Not only was it a ruthless attack that nearly ended her life, it was the sadistic way in which he acted all these years against her.
And Bonnie was mentally drained.
No one knew exactly what Bonnie had been feeling in recent years, not even her family knew the seriousness of the situation. How mentally he had broken her inside.
But it was true, she had to face those fears and talking about them was the only way to heal.
Bonnie trusted Camille's words.
"Okay... I-I'll tell you what happened, I will tell you everything he has done to me..."
Fifteen years ago.
Robert Hopkins was a good man, he met Abigail Bennett for a reason of fate. It only took three months and he fell madly in love with her. Ten months later they both welcomed their first daughter, Bonnie Hopkins.
For the next three years they lived happily, or so Robert thought. Four years after, Abigail left without explanation.
Robert deduced that his financial situation had been the cause of his abandonment, but as a man in love he waited for her to arrive one day at his door asking for another chance that he would be willing to give.
But that day never came.
Robert decided to move on without losing hope. And he waited for her, but the wait only made him meet someone else, Abigail's mother. Sheila Bennett, who until then was a stranger to him.
Sheila was a woman looking for a daughter, and like Robert, the only thing Sheila found was a son-in-law she didn't know and most surprisingly, a granddaughter, Bonnie, a little seven-year-old girl.
Although Sheila's family empire had not yet fully taken off, Sheila had greater financial means to provide a better future for Bonnie.
When Sheila proposed that to Robert, obviously he completely refused, the idea disgusted him, not only that, he also felt humiliated.
Yes, it was true, Bonnie could have a better life, but she was his daughter and he as her father was obliged to provide her with everything she needed, not only money, but also love. Also as he would explain to her that he would also leave her as his mother did, no, Robert did not accept.
Sheila did not pressure him and in return asked to spend more time with her granddaughter.
That was how Bonnie met not only her grandmother, but also her older sister and her cousin. Both raised by Sheila.
Time passed and two years later, Robert's fortune had changed.
He had been hired for a new job thanks to the help of a friend, Liz Forbes.
Robert, with a degree in telecommunications engineering, managed to enter the police department working as an analyst and programmer.
All he needed was to move to another city. And Robert set out with a little girl in his arms, taking the few things they both had.
Three months later, the happiness that housed the Hopkins faded again.
If Robert had known, he would never have said no to Sheila. But no one was a fortune teller.
It was too late, when Robert came face to face with the evil that would terrorize his daughter's life.
Present.
Bonnie finished negotiating with her sister. It was difficult to maintain control as she chatted with Emily, her mind spinning around the black envelope beside her. When it was all over and Emily retired leaving her alone in her office again Bonnie had to face her past.
The fear persisted, but she had no other options, she had to face her nightmares.
With her shaking hands Bonnie took a deep breath, first she had to control herself, after several breaths with her eyes closed, she decided to end the wait, she could not continue to be afraid...
No more Bonnie.
Again she opened the envelope and continued from where Emily had interrupted.
Bonnie pulled the photos out of the envelope and flipped through one by one more calmly this time, and every detail in them carried her back to that day the photos were taken.
The memories flashed through her mind like a clear image that she thought she had forgotten, but no. Perhaps those memories were somewhere in her memory completely blocked with the intention of not making her remember, and that damn man once again knew how to control her nerves.
Although only her family knew of her tragic past, no one at her job had a fucking idea what she had been through. And Bonnie preferred it that way. She hated when he dared to disturb her holy place, her work. This was not the first time he did it.
Bonnie swallowed thickly, her tears didn't form. She looked at the photos with a frown with an expression of hatred and panic because she well knew the purpose of this.
It was a warning to her. With this, it was the fourth thing he had sent to her. Nobody knew, the last thing he sent was the damn tape recorder and that was over a year ago.
After that, Bonnie thought she would never get things from him again, that he had forgotten about her. But she was wrong...
However Bonnie was no longer the same as before... Yes, she was afraid, but now she knew how to control them better than the last time... now contempt and hatred were invading her.
She would not give him the pleasure of crying.
Camille was right about one thing... it all starts when the tears stop falling...
But although she refused to cry, the tears fell on their own when she saw the blurry photo of her father. That photo had been taken by her, the quality of the image gave it away. Bonnie was always lousy focusing the lens.
It was the first photo she had seen of her father in more than thirteen years. And Bonnie held her against her chest.
Bonnie couldn't help crying... but her tears were not from fear... they were for two things, the first was sadness... because the few memories she had of her father were scarce... and she cried at the see her loving father again.
The second was out of anger, because he knew it and she was letting him control her emotions again.
For a long time she stayed there remembering every precious detail of that day. But above all remembering her father with her eyes full of tears.
Wiping her nose, she flipped through the last photos with more urgency, the last photo was of a nine-year-old girl with a man in his twenties with a friendly smile on his face.
Or that was what you could tell about him with the naked eye.
If she had listened to her father's words, none of this would have happened.
It was such a simple warning to follow. Do not talk to strangers.
But the innocence of a child does not see beyond the wickedness of people.
What would that little girl know that that day she would be face to face with the monster that lives under the bed.
Bonnie held the photo in her hands. It was the first time in so many years that she had seen his face, and she was proud to be able to face her fears.
In the photo... She was next to her monster.
Malachai Parker.
On the back of the photo, a note.
Congratulations on your wedding, little Bonster.
Thirteen years ago.
Some men came to interrupt her day in the park, it was her ninth birthday, Bonnie was carrying her little disposable camera, the gift her father had given her that morning. About twelve photos had been shot since she received the small gift.
The joy of that day was ruined when these men forced Robert Hopkins into a car with his daughter. Bonnie, being so small, never knew what it was about, but her father's behavior seemed a little strange to her.
Her father, a strong and brave man, was nervous and scared.
Robert had been chosen to leak information on the witness protection list database. He refused to work for one of the most dangerous and corrupt people in that city. The harassment started a few weeks earlier. Robert, as the new programmer for the police department, was an easy target for Joshua Parker, who, seeing the single father's refusal to agree to cooperate, had no choice but to ask him the hard way.
Robert became nervous when Joshua's men forced him and Bonnie into the car with them.
All the way, he could only think of one thing, his daughter. If he did not accept, Joshua made him understand that he would attack what was dearest to him... and what was most precious to Robert was his daughter.
She would be the hardest hit if Robert did not cooperate with Joshua, but if he did he would be involved in a crime, he was between a rock and a hard place.
At that moment Robert Hopkins knew that he had no other escape, if he warned the authorities or told Liz everything that was happening to him, things could get very bad for him. Joshua was a powerful and untouchable man, despite all the scandals that were around him because of one of his sons, who would assure him that he could emerge unscathed from all this, that his daughter's safety would be guaranteed.
He only had to give one piece of information, give the location of an important witness in the case against one of his children. He knew about the case and a huge lump was crossed in his throat thinking about what would happen to that woman if he gave her location to Joshua, but for the safety of his daughter, Robert was willing to do it.
When they reached the huge mansion, Robert was pushed toward the massive white doors, but before facing Joshua Parker, Robert turned to his daughter and leaned over to be level with her.
Bonnie was distracted by looking at everything around her, she had never been in a place like this, the garden was impressive.
"You will stay here and you will not talk to anyone, understand?" Bonnie barely heard him say, he rolled his shoulders to get her attention, "Bonnie! Did you hear?"
He was angry, little Bonnie thought and she nodded.
Her father was still nervous when he walked away and left her sitting on the steps. "Daddy..." she called excitedly and when Robert turned around, Bonnie shot the camera. Robert just nodded with a nervous half smile and stepped inside.
The seconds passed and became minutes.
The camera kept firing and inadvertently her feet carried her into the garden.
One more shot, someone had noticed the little intruder.
A young man with a slim build approached her, "Hey... what's your name?"
Bonnie looked at the cigar in his hands, she lowered the camera and didn't respond, following her father's orders.
"Did the mice eat your tongue?" Bonnie shook her head.
The man put the cigar back in his mouth, inhaling he watched the girl a little more.
"and... why don't you speak?", But Bonnie didn't answer either. Another inhale and then the tail of the cigar was thrown to the ground and stepped on with the sole of his shoe.
He crouched down to be on Bonnie's level. "You are Robert's daughter, aren't you?"
Bonnie's eyes widened when she heard her father's name and she nodded with a small movement.
He smiled, "My father is a friend of your father and my friend too, Robert is going to help me with a problem that I have, my name is Malachai, but you can call me Kai... What is your name?"
Bonnie looked at him for a while, if her father was his friend then he wasn't that strange.
"My name is Bonnie..."
Kai smiled at the sweet voice.
"Bonnie... nice name and what do you have there..."
Bonnie showed him the camera, "Today is my birthday and my dad gave me this camera, it's disposable..."
"oh it's your birthday... wow... happy birthday little girl!"
Kai smirked when his eyes met Bonnie's huge green eyes, the sparkle in her gaze was somehow influencing him.
"May I?"
Bonnie nodded and handed him the camera, Kai put the camera in front of him and walked over to Bonnie.
The shot went out, he took the photo himself.
"Now we have a picture together, that means we are friends... Would you like to be my friend? Bonnie"
Bonnie looked at him innocently and he gave her a friendly smile to convince her, and she smiled back.
Sometimes the monsters would also disguise themselves, but it was too late for Bonnie to realize it.
"Yes, I would like to be-"
"Stay away from my daughter!"
Robert screamed as he ran towards Bonnie, he couldn't believe that man was so close to her. He believed that he was detained, but money was always very influential.
Robert carried Bonnie in his arms and scold her as he hurried out of that place.
"I told you not to move from where I left you! I told you not to talk to anyone!"
Bonnie barely opened her mouth, she didn't understand why her father was upset, the only thought was about her camera... that man had stayed with her camera.
"Dad... my camera... he has my camera"
"I'll buy you another later! we have to go!"
Bonnie began to cry in her father's arms.
Before they left, Robert took a quick look back, Malachai Parker gave him the most sinister smile he had ever seen, and that shook him from end to end.
Robert swallowed thickly and sped away from that place as fast as possible, hoping he would never encounter any member of that family again.
But what Robert didn't know was that that day... the nightmares would just begin.
Present.
Bonnie left her office late, she made a quick call, she would encounter the only person who could help her.
When she got out of the parking lot, there was him, Malachai Parker, with the same sinister smile on his face.
No one in the building recognized him when he left the envelope at the reception desk himself, he was tempted to go up to Bonnie's office, but he couldn't push his luck.
He had to wait for the right moment. But he was always happy to see her, it didn't matter if it was from a certain distance.
For now he would settle for that.
Suddenly, his mood changed dramatically as he remembered what Bonnie had done a week ago, a blow to the wall shattered his knuckles.
Kai was angry.
Bonnie had married, and not only that...
She had married the son of the former head of the Mikaelson clan, but none of that mattered, because he would soon finish what began thirteen years ago.
Bonnie would be his no matter what!
I hope that with this chapter you can understand why Bonnie did not confront Camille. In spite of everything Bonnie feels a great thanks to her for having been there as her confidante. But obviously things are very different now. Bonnie will have to learn to trust and not stay quiet, she must learn to talk about her emotions with someone else and more now that Kai is back.
As you can read, Kai has stalked Bonnie since she was a child, but things got really ugly a few years after he met her. In the next chapter I will try to find out more about that.
Thank you very much for reading and sorry for the mistakes in this chapter!
I hope you will continue to be nice to me when you leave a review. And thanks for that! I appreciate it.
