I Don't Own RWBY
I know I was on a stage at the moment, listening to the teams being announced, but I couldn't help but notice two people were standing right next to me and my partner. Meral, and Terra, those two from the clothing store thing. I noted that Meral was giving me a long side eye, like he didn't want to let me out of his sight for some reason, while Terra was just rolling her eyes at her friend. Sky had also noticed the looks Meral was giving me and had taken to glaring back at him.
I already have a feeling I know what's about to happen since we had been grouped together after returning, but that doesn't mean I feel like it's going to turn out for the best. I just hope Sky gets to be the leader and not one of them. Not to say I don't trust them any, it's just that I don't believe Meral is going to be a willing friend of mine and Terra will more than likely be more liable to let her friend get away with things. Though, with how Sky is looking at Meral, maybe there isn't a good option for a team leader here.
"And now we have our last group of four who collected the white queen pieces. Ash Kay, Meral Denfer, Sky Brooks, and Terra Cot. From this day forwards, you all shall be known as Team AMST, Amethyst, lead by...Ash Kay"...What? I knew I hadn't misheard Ozpin because that has yet to be a thing to happen to me, so I knew he had said I was the leader. But why? I hardly know anything about myself, not to mention how to really interact and lead a team. All in all, this was quite unexpected.
"Hey! Good guy buddy" Sky gave me a strong pat on the back at that as I was pushed forwards a small bit when a window popped up in front of me.

That's nice, I still really need to look over my status menu soon, it's been a long while and a lot of levels since I've looked at it, as I was kind of just pushed into this the second me and Sky had arrived back up on the cliff side. Thoughts for later, right now it would appear that Glynda is giving us, well, me, the number of the room we are going to be staying in for the next four years...I still am unsure how to feel about all this.
It was night time at the moment. It had been an awkward time in my opinion, Meral kept a close eye on me but didn't say anything at all while our team was split into two clear groups. Meral and Terra in one as they held their own conversation with practiced ease while me and Sky talked every now and again but with no cross group chatter of any kind... I don't know what to do. But thankfully, I didn't have to know as nighttime had come and everyone had gone to bed. Besides myself of course. Right now I was laying in my bed as I looked up at the many menu's opened up in front of me.

It was quite the amount to look at, at least from how much it's all changed since I last looked at the first menu, the other two, the title and perk weren't as shocking though were still quite noticeable in their own right. In fact, as I looked at the new title, I, after a short moment of contemplation, changed it out from Outsider. That title wasn't going to do anything for me at the moment so no reason to have it equipped anymore, it's not like I'm going anywhere.
But that was just something to do so I could move past the points on the screen. The available stat points that I have still refused to do anything with. The reason was a simple one, I was still gaining points naturally over time, but I have so many at the moment and I'm not doing anything with them. It's a weird feeling. And yet, I still think I should hold off, until at least a little while later.
I want to get my STR much higher before I distribute the points, and not to mention another key fact. I still am here to learn about myself, the fighting is all backseat really, sure there is a certain gratification to completing quests and seeing these numbers increase in the most effect way possible, but that isn't the point of all this. It's just a nice side effect.
While that might seem to be a great reason as to why I should use to the points right now, I want to say otherwise. If I put all my points in now, then I'm skipping over time I could use to learn about myself in another way. Because while I do know how to fight now, through the weird way my skills give my body knowledge, it doesn't change the fact that I know practically nothing else beside what I look like about my body.
Am I flexible? How good am I at using my left hand? How long is my reach of arms? Sure they might not sound all that important, but it's information everyone has about themselves that I just don't. And I feel like training is a way to learn about that...It's all so hypocritical in a way, I don't want to only train or focus on my power but to learn about my body that's what I have to do. And it also feels like in a way by focusing on that I'm not paying enough attention to my mind, or personality.
It's all to much that I want to learn and do at the same time without a way to actually go about it in a way that doesn't seem to leave me lacking in some way. I believe the saying is I want my cake and to eat it too. I don't use enough saying, I find them fun. Fun? Yeah, I guess that's the word to use. Saying pleasant over and over again to describe what I'm doing is beginning feel like I'm not using enough of all the words I happen to know.
Still, my point stands, I just am not fully sure what I should do at the moment, and I don't think I'm going to be able to come up with an answer that I find solves all my problems...So the only thing I can see as a path ahead of me is just keep doing what I've been doing. It's clear I won't be able to plan a way out to come to self realization, that by it's very nature is contradictory, it just doesn't work like that.
Meaning, I feel like there is no real answer for this question...And that is a bit hard to accept, I feel like all people want a clear cut answer or guide to life's problem but that just isn't realistic, and it certainly isn't realistic here. If I can't come up with an omni answer for my strife than I just have to continue to hope over time that it works out while doing my best to keep a clear eye on what I want to achieve in my time here. There isn't an easy answer to the complex question that is a person's identity.
For spouting some wise words, WIS has increased by two
I have to chose to believe that something that comes from my own mind just isn't being bias to my own words, and to be honest, it isn't that hard to manage. I really do want to be right about all this, because it's my life that I'm trying to answer, not some math problem...I'm being to moody, this is a time that I should be using for another thing, something more exciting than my existential dread. My weapons.
Pulling out my two weapons, my short blade, that I really should name at some point, and Memento as I've taken to call it in a more short form name. Honestly as I looked at the two in the dark, I thought about my time in that forest from only a few hours ago. I had to switch out items regularly, and since I couldn't really hold onto the blade while I was in the middle of reloading, it just got in the way half the time until I only used it...That wasn't what I got it for.
So, considering the theme that everyone here has with weapons also being guns...I want to figure something out for this. I had been given a schedule and everything for weaponry classes and an area where we have tools to service our weapons to make sure they are in tiptop shape. I want to check that out and see what all is available there. It was something I wasn't sure why, but I just wanted to do.
I like weaponry, I've found giving basic maintenance to my weapons has been something that I've had fun with, and the idea of making something new from the two is just something I want to try, especially since neither of them were weapons that I myself has made. One had been given and the other had been bought... Yeah. I think I have a plan for what to do for the rest of this night. I know exactly all the components in Slate's Memento and in the retractable short blade, so I also know all the things that I could change and try and mix... This might take a while, but I have the next eight hours free.
So with that I brought up my manufacture skill and opened up the two needed blueprints to look them over while I thought of what I wanted my own weapon to be like...I wonder how hard it would be to just straight up combine them?

Well, I guess I have more incentive now. So with that I accepted the quest and got back to my thinking before I had be interrupted by the box appearing before me.
"Oh? How long have you been up?" I looked over at Sky who had just stepped out in her new uniform, I had already taken to switching into mine, as I know that wearing new clothes seem to take me a while to adjust.
"I didn't go to sleep" Her eyes widened a good bit at that in what I believe to be concern for some reason as she looked at me closely for a moment before I heard Meral mutter something that sounded like 'freaking idiot' I was going to ignore it but Sky seemed to have heard his words as well as she rounded on the teenager.
"Hey!" He just glared at Sky, that wasn't something I was fine with ignoring, but I also didn't seem to want to be all that confrontational with my team either. Just because Sky was my partner doesn't mean the others are a part of Team Amethyst either...I don't know what to do. Maybe explain why I didn't sleep to pull away from this topic? I think that would be best as Meral seemed to be about to say something.
"I don't require sleep to function" They both looked over at me, and were no longer glaring at each other, so I'm taking that as a minor win. After a moment Sky just shook her head and said.
"Oh of course, you weird PC" PC?...Ah, player character, another name for a video game character, I get it. I don't get why she called me weird though, but I guess it is understandable as sleep is something most people need.
"Wait so have you just been watching us all night? That's kind of creepy" Meral seemed to decide to use this as another way to try and start an argument. I wonder if he is trying to do this on purpose because it seems like he is as Sky was already mid turn to glare at him. Thankfully I was able to speak up before she could.
"No, I spent most of the night thinking and working on something through my semblance, it would be unproductive to watch you all sleep" I wasn't sure why he would think I would spend my time on such an action but I didn't really understand him already so this wasn't new, unfortunately. Sky seemed to jump at that as she turned to look and me and said happily.
"Oh really? What was it?" I feel like she likes my semblance a lot. Maybe she is someone who plays a lot of video games, or maybe she's just trying to ignore Meral, I can't really tell. Still, I opened up my menu and looked over at my Manufacture skill for a moment, more accurately, looking at the blueprint that I had been able to make after a few hours of working. I even got two levels in Manufacture, which I thought was a bit strange since I just made a new blueprint myself, not actually making anything. Though, I guess making a brand new blueprint is the same as making something, just doing it mentally.
"A skill on making stuff, I'm thinking about making a new weapon" I was actually thinking of making two, but that was a project for later. Sky nodded, seeming to be interested in what I was talking about while Meral rolled his eyes and walked into the bathroom, where I believe Terra had just exited from. While they were doing that, I looked up at one of the few items the room we were in had, a wall clock, and noted that we had about an hour and a half before the first class starts at nine...I wonder what those will be like.
"Cool, that's good, sorry to say Ash but your weapons aren't really all that memorial. Unlike mine!" I couldn't really say no to that so I just nodded because she did have a point about it. Butterfly knives that turn into guns that shoot out elemental rounds are a lot more easy to remember than a standard modified compact handgun and a blade that's only point of note is that it retracts into a handle which doesn't have much use when I have an inventory to use.
"I'm aware. Come on, they already know when classes start, you should probably get some breakfast" She hummed at that and nodded, so with that we walked out of our room. Though not before a box popped up in front of me as we left.
Through managing to defuse an argument through words. CHR has increased by one
Peter Port, that was the name of the man in front of me, talking about his adventure where he went out at a young age and slayed his first Grimm. It was...not what I expected for my first ever lesson. I still paid attention and listened of course, a nice bonus from Gamer's Mind was that I couldn't find his drawn out words to be boring, it didn't make the process any more enjoyable, but it made it that it wasn't a bad experience either, though on a side note, he was a decent story teller. To bad Lie let me know that half the story was quite exaggerated...Though, it did give me a few levels in the skill for noticing it so often.
"In the end the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity! And I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high. Celebrated, as a hero!" He took a bow at that point when a new box popped up in front of me. I blinked before reading it over. It would appear from paying attention to what was mostly a self written story, my Charisma leveled up and I got a new skill called Story Telling. It would appear this day is good for my CHR stat.
"The moral of this story? Well, a true huntsman must be honorable! A true huntsman must be dependable! A true huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise! So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" I wasn't sure why honor seemed to be something the professor had lead with, I don't see much of a point in it myself. Though while I was thinking about it, I noted that Sky's hand was half way into the air to volunteer when that rude girl from before shot her hand up and said.
"I do sir!" I still don't believe I like her but I will admit, I was a bit curious as to why she seemed so angry at the moment as she got up and walked out while the professor explained to us while she went to get her gear, something I thought was a weird thing to not have on you, that Weiss would be fighting a Grimm known as a Boarbastusk. Which happened to be in the rattling cage off to the side of the class room wall at the moment. I'm surprised it didn't act up during the story the man gave us.
"Damn it! I wanted to fight it" I let my mind move away from those thoughts as I looked over to the pouting form of Sky. She seemed to genuinely be sad over the fact that she couldn't be the one to kill it which I wasn't sure why. If I had thought to volunteer then I would be upset if I didn't get to get some free experience in a non dangerous environment, but from my use of observing people. I think I'm the only one that levels up from the use of Exp points. Like I was using a different system than everyone else.
"You will have plenty of chances in the future" She just continued to pout but nodded all the same to my words, which I suppose was a good thing. Oh, Weiss is back now, that was faster than I thought it would be considering she didn't have anything on her previously. Oh well, now then, I wonder how this is going to go...Observe.

While I might not find her to be nice nor do I even like her, I must say she is quite strong all things considered, just from her stats alone she was much stronger than I was. Now then, one to this Grimm, which had just been released by the teacher.

I've come to learn that those first three stats aren't everything in this world. Sure those stats on the Grimm show that it is much stronger and even faster than Weiss is, but it's stupid. It can't think of a plan that would let it do something with those great stats, instead it just charges forwards and reacts purely on an instinctual level. And that was the key difference in Grimm and people in my opinion. And that was the reason that when Weiss fought it, that she won at all.
For understanding that maybe being strong isn't everything, INT has increased by one
My stats are improving quite the bit at the moment, that's nice. Oh, the bell has rung, that's nice, I should leave now, maybe if I have the time I can find that weapon maintenance room, or maybe the library. As while it's been a while, it doesn't mean I've forgotten about the fact that skill books are a thing, and while I'm not sure what qualifies a book as a skill book, it wouldn't hurt to check anyway.
"Oh? Where are you heading?" I looked over at Sky, who seems to have taken to following me around for some reason. I just thought about that for a second before deciding that I didn't mind before answering.
"I'm going to the library for a bit before going to the weapon maintenance room to see if I can work on my idea" She hummed a bit at that while she moved up to walk besides me before saying.
"Alright, well I'm going to go get some lunch. You want anything" I just shook my head and watched as she walked away while humming to herself. I do not understand why she and everyone else does so many extra, unneeded, activities while they do stuff. Well, I guess it doesn't matter all that much, anyway, I should get to looking around.
I couldn't find the library but I did find the weapon room, so I just cut the book part for a later time as I decided to get to work on what I was doing here. Though as I looked around and observed the tools, and items in the room. I noticed something as I looked over a tool kit, or more actually I read something that surprised me a small bit.
Gun maintenance kit-
Rank- S
An item that can increase the effectiveness of all gun maintenance skills
+10% Bonus to all gun damage when used
3x lasting time for maintenance effects
It was a very good item. Right now my handgun maintenance skill was at level six and gave Memento a six percent bonus to damage which lasts for six hours. But if I use this kit with my skill, then Memento's base damage increase would be sixteen percent and would last for eighteen full hours. I also found another kit for blade based weapons as well. This place had everything, though that was just something that I knew was here and would take advantage of at a latter time.
But for now I was standing at a stand with both my weapons laid out in front of me. I looked at the two for a long moment before moving over to a shelf with dozens of generalized spare parts that are found in most standard types of most weapon classes. After a few moments, I brought the pieces over and quickly assembled another hand gun to use based on Slate's Memento's design...I wasn't about to risk my main gun just in case it didn't work or I messed up somewhere.
Now then, I reached over and picked up my blade and began to disassemble it while looking over at the other parts that I had taken from around the workshop, most were pieces that I hoped I would actually use properly. Though I didn't have time to really think about it as the dissembled blade laid in front of me now. I looked at it for a moment before reaching over to the newly built gun, looked it over to make sure it was an exact match, before pulling it apart as well.
I needed to make it so I could know it had all the right pieces, if that doesn't make sense that's find, I was mostly do this off the top of my mind so to be honest I was mostly just relying on the muscle memory my Manufacture skill gave me. So with that, I looked at the pulled part blade, gun, and all the extra parts that I had taken as well for a long moment before getting to work as I dragged a tool box closer to me, as I was sure I would need a number of tools for this.
It took a long while, spending a long time to make sure everything was working how I had envisioned it was a challenge, but it was done. With that I picked up the long metal cylinder with a number of interesting carvings on it. The most notable was the fact that where I had picked it up was the same shape and form as a handle. Still, I just looked over the item in my hand for a long moment before clicking a faint button on the handle.
From the top of the cylinder shot out a blade, right over another round hole, the thing I was now holding was a handle now for a short sword. I looked at the blade for a long moment before clicking two buttons, and just like that the blade retracted and the cylinder bent into two pieces as a trigger was ejected from the side as I looked down and over the now almost magnum looking barrel at the end. I had designed it to have a lot more power to it. Though it was still a magazine based firearm, as a reviler wasn't really my style. Still, the looks were nice and the functions clearly worked, but does it work? Well, to find that out all I need to do is, well, Observe.
Prototype-
Rank: A
A high powered handgun that folds upwards to be allowed to use as both a club and the handle for a retracting short sword.
Made by Ash Kay.
Base Handgun Damage: 75 + DEX
Max Ammo Capacity: 20 Bullets/5 Dust rounds
Base Short Sword Damage: 75 + STR
Base Club Damage: 50 + STR
It was...better than I hoped to be honest. I wasn't expecting it to also work as a club, but to be fair, in it's resting state, it's basically a short metal bat made out of strong steel. Now then, with that, I looked over at Memento, before picking it up. I mean, I've taken to using two weapons at once, and since the magazine size has increased, something I'll have to get at a later time, I don't think it would hurt to upgrade this one as well. I mean, I have the parts for it around me...I hope I don't have to pay for these, I didn't see any price tag while I was observe them to find the parts I need.
I decided to not think about it, so that's what I did. Spending the next two hours working and doing my best until almost a carbon copy of my prototype came out of it, expect the colors were a bit different. Memento was a much duller grey as it had been around much longer, while Prototype, a name I had to change soon, was almost fully sliver in color. Grey and silver, an interesting combine of colors, one's that even match my name a bit. I'm sure Sky would be proud.
Still, I had two new weapons now, and I was proud of them. Pride, it was a new emotion and one I find that I like. So with that, I set the two down in front of me, both in their resting forms while I thought over what to name the newer one, as to be honest I like Memento as a name, it had history, and it made me feel like I had history as well, even if I've only been alive for a month in my own eyes. It was comforting, to have something form before my time.
So what should I do for this new one, I want it to be something of an opposite of Memento, I want something to remind me of the future not the past...Vita Nova. Nova for short? Yeah. Memento and Nova. Now then, time to give maintenance these things and then leave this place after I clean up after myself. I believe it should be about dinner maybe at the moment, so it wouldn't hurt if I headed down there. I might not need to eat, but I do like doing so anyway.
Fun fact, I'm not good at weapon designs really, so, sorry if how I described Memento and Nova wasn't good. Oh, fun fact, Vita Nova means in loose Latin 'New Life' I figured it fit the theme, since memento is also Latin for remember, and for the other obvious reason for the words themselves. Speaking of things I'm bad at, I pulled Amethyst as the name from no where, I really should have planned the name's a bit better honestly. Though it makes sense that I have nothing planned since I've kind of messed up continuity a bit with that Adam appearance from a few chapters ago, not to mention a few other not to obvious things, but that was before I figured out the direction I wanted to go in so I get some slack there I guess. While for the team leader thing, I thought about having Ash not be the leader but decided it would add an element to his character to focus on while trying to learn about himself, which would be fun. Anyway, See ya.
