I might title the side story "To Count the Stars in the Sky Snip-its and Alternate Paths" and it'll just be mostly filler and one-shots about what could've happened.
(Harry's P.O.V.) Three years later
I was running along a heavily tracked path, and I could hear the footfalls of the two older boys behind me. I looked at the tree I was approaching at top speed, knowing only a few people could climb it and the two behind me couldn't and smirked. I felt warmth pool in my chest and willed it to flow in and around me. Just like Carea taught! I thought proudly. Carea was who had been teaching me magic once a week for the past three years, she was Willow's sister and absolutely terrifying. Carea looked human enough, with her long brown hair and hazel eyes, but she was still one of the higher-ups in the under-realm. I felt my magic flicker in the world around me, and I willed it to teleport me(Carea told me that the Wix community called it apparating) into the tree. In the blink of an eye, I was standing in the utmost branches of the tall oak tree. I could see everything around me, which was mostly trees, except for the few clearings that held the Ark and the training grounds. I looked down when I heard my chasers stop at the base of the tree. Toby looked up at me with a proud smile on his face, while Jeff looked a little upset.
"Hey! That's cheating! The two of us can't fly or teleport and besides, this was supposed to be an endurance test, not a magic test!" Jeff yelled up at me, like the whiny bitch he was. I laughed and was about to yell an insult down at him when Toby's phone started ringing. He started patting down his pockets before almost dropping his phone-which had been in a side pocket of his cargo shorts-and answering it.
"H-heya dad, wha-ats up?" He asked, acting like he didn't almost just drop his phone. I could tell it was Hoodie because he called Masky any other variant of dad. He nodded a few times before hanging up and shoving his phone in his vest pocket and zipping it up.
"Th-that was dad, h-he says it's ti-ime for dinner-who put you on the planet-and if w-we don't get ba-ack soon then E.J.'s gon-pinecone-gonna have a con-conniption!" Toby said while running. I smiled and started jumping from tree to tree, trying to beat him home. I got to the edge of the woods that was still a bit away from the mansion and jumped. The feeling of the air rushing around me, being completely weightless, and having nothing tethering me to anything was exhilarating. I waited till I was near the ground before slowing my fall and starting to run the rest of the way to the mansion. I got to the door a few seconds before Toby and Jeff did, and the three of us went in together. Inside was just as it always was, covered in warm colours and the smell of pine-sol and dried blood lingering in the air. Shoes were scattered in the entryway, and winter gear was thrown haphazardly around the little closet. The walls were a light cream colour, with dark wooden baseboards, and quite a few scuffs and holes. The living room floor was covered with an orange and black carpet with a large couch and a few other chairs. I could hear a lot of people talking in the dining room, which was to be expected since it was dinner-time. Toby ticced suddenly, hitting me in the face and cracking his neck loudly. He started apologizing as Jeff and I howled with laughter before the three of us walked into the dining room.
Dinner had been a loud and chaotic affair, and after everyone sat in the gaming room to watch scary movies. After a few hours, E.J. made us all go to bed which no one really tried to fight. I went to my room, which had changed a lot since the first day I'd gotten here. As I was getting ready for bed, a barn owl tapped at my window with a letter tied around its leg. I smiled and opened the window, letting the owl flutter over to the stand. I untied the letter and gave the owl some treats, while also pouring some water into a dish for the owl. After a few minutes, I tied my response letter to the owl's leg and let it fly off. I'll open the letter tomorrow with everyone else. I thought as I climbed into bed, falling asleep quickly.
~~~Later, in Britain~~~
(No One's P.O.V.)
An old man sat at a desk covered in trinkets and papers, looking at the response letter, with a stern-looking woman behind him, and a man with a sour look on his face hovering at the side of the room. Albus Dumbledore's eyes twinkled like sapphires in the light of a candle.
"Albus, he's alive!" Miniveria McGonagall said in wonder. Severus Snape sneered-like a little bitch-from his corner of the room.
"I can see that Minne, but for now, it's getting late, we should all head to bed," Dumbledore said, taking one last look at the letter.
Dear Deputy Headmistress McGonagall,
It would be my pleasure to attend Hogwarts, and I most certainly will be seeing you on September first. I know how to get to Diagon Alley, so there should be no trouble getting my supplies.
Sincerely,
Hadrian James Potter
With a sly smile, Dumbledore folded the letter up, placed it in a drawer, and bid his companion's goodnight waiting until they were gone to stand up and walk to the window. For the first time in three years, he stood overlooking the grounds of Hogwarts and planned his next move, like a chess game that was just starting.
