(Bella's POV)
Me, Clint, Kelly and Bri were walking to the cafeteria talking about doing a movie night later tonight and using the movie room. We were trying to decide which movie to watch since there were a lot of good movies available.
"We can watch the new hero movie. Iron Man." Clint suggested since there was a movie about a man who created a iron suit but I don't about that one.
"What about Cloverfield?" Kelly suggested as she and Bri pushed the doors open letting us walk in the cafeteria. I can't help but glance at the Cullen Table. Edward was there with his siblings. He doesn't look at me which wasn't a big surprised. Guess pretty boy think he can just keep acting this way.
"What about The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian?" Bri suggested as we went over to where Mike and the others were.
"We can talk about this later. I mean we got a lot of time right now." Clint said as we sat down while I drop my book bag on a seat. Eric looks at us smiling.
"La Push, baby. You in?" Eric asked while Kelly's and Clint's eyes widen in surprise knowing what was there. I'm missing something here since even Bri seems to be excited. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the Quileute Reserve is there and the Shapeshifts can be found there.
"Should I know what that means?" I asked curiously while my three teammates look at me like I grew a second head.
"La Push beach, down on the Quileute rez. We're all going after school. Big Swell coming in." Mike said grinning which made Clint smiled excitedly. Of course, he and Kelly would be excited, they love to surf ever since they took lessons which lasted a month.
"And I don't just surf the internet." Eric said standing up doing a surfer pose. Mike copies him while Kelly scoffed seeing it.
"Eric, you stood up once. On a foam board." Jessica said rolling her eyes at him. Is she serious? That won't be enough if he's going to handle a big wave.
"Please, you two probably don't even know some tricks." Kelly said smugly while Clint playfully scoffed at her making her glare at him before pushing him off his chair.
"What was that for?" Clint asked getting back into his chair while glaring at a smirking Kelly.
"Oh nothing." She replied still smirking at him. Shaking my head at the brother and sister in all but blood due. Wow that's a mouthful.
"There's whale watching, too. Come with us." Angela said which made Bri look at her in surprise hearing that.
"I'm in." Bri said quickly smiling before I shake my head in amusement. There's a chance we might encounter Leah. So the bet might be settled today.
"La Push, baby!" Eric said again which only made me roll my eyes at him. That was getting really old very quickly.
"Alright, if you stop that now, I'll go." I told them while we keep talking about. Clint suggested we quickly drop by our home to grab the things we need for the trip including the surfboards he and Kelly are gonna use. I got up and walked towards the salad bar station. Grabbing a bowl, I started making my salad. It was coming along well which made me smile.
"Edible art." A voice said which startled me making me fumble and drop the apple. Seeing someone catch it with his or her foot before kicking it up and catching it into their hands. Looking up to thank the person I stopped seeing that it was Edward.
"Thanks but if you're to be rude to me again after then I rather go." I told him going to leave before he stops me.
"I said it would be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be" He said which only confused me. What does he want us to be? Do you want to be friends or not?
"What does that even mean? It's confusing" I told him shaking my head getting tired of repeating the same type of conversation with him.
"It means if you were smart, you'd avoid me" He said as he glances at his four siblings who were waiting for him expectantly. Looking at my own friends, I could see Bri, Kelly and Cint looking at me while I gave them a shrug not knowing how to tell them. Well, at least Mike isn't acting jealous which was good since it meant he was moving on from me.
"So, let's say, for argument's sake, I wasn't smart. Would you even talk to me? Tell me the truth I need to hear" I asked him trying to see if there was some sort of falter or something. Nothing, which meant he's done this before. Great just great.
"Probably not. I'd rather hear your theories." Edward said which made me frown at him. I already know the truth, but I'll play along for now.
"Okay...how 'bout radioactive spiders? Kryptonite? Do you need to be stabbed in some sort of specific spot?" I asked him which only made him look at me challenging. So, this is how he wants to play. Well Edward Cullen game on.
"You're talking about superheroes and heroes from myths. What if I'm not a hero? What if I'm the bad guy?" He asked me. That was surprising, he isn't a bad guy from what I know of. He is just trying to protect the people he cares about like Clint and Kelly. So that's impossible.
"You're not a bad guy. Sure, you may act all jerkish and not answer whatever questions I may have but that doesn't make you the villain. You know what I see? I see someone hiding behind a mask trying to protect the people he cares about by trying to keep people away." I told him which took him back. He was surprised about the answer I gave him. It was only the truth. He looks at me drawn in while I look back.
"Look, why don't we just start over. Maybe come hang out with us. We're gonna head to the beach. It'll be fun, sand fleas, wind burn, saltwater stinging your eyes" I offered him seeing a small smile and seeing him considering it. It was a good sign.
"Which beach?" He asked me which made me stop a bit. The beach we were heading to was the home of the shapeshifts which isn't a good sign.
"La Push" I told him wincing a bit seeing how his smile practically disappeared. So both sides have some sort of history with each other. I see him glance over at Clint who looked at him confused.
"I can't come. It's a little crowded" Edward said leaving, making me sigh. So much for us getting a fresh start. Heading back, I see Clinton look at me wondering what that was about.
"I don't know" I told him making him sigh. Something was going on between the Shapeshifters and the Cullens but whatever it is. It isn't a good sign since this only adds to our problem as it is now.
We went back home after the school day was done. Going up to my room, I grabbed a jacket since the weather was colder there from what Bri told us. I made some hot chocolate for us to drink since the last thing we need was for any of us to get sick. I facepalmed at what I did. Great now one of us will get sick.
"Woo! Let's go" Clint shouted excited coming down dressed in a pair of baggy sweater and sweater pants which was probably to hide his wet suit while holding his black surfboard and a black duffle bag. Kelly came down next holding her purple surfboard smirking.
"Just get ready to be outperformed. Also, thanks for holding the things I need" Kelly said while Clinton shrug showing that he didn't mind. Bri came down next with her camera around her neck.
"Yeah well. After surfing you better change quickly into some other clothes. If you don't you might get sick" Bri said switching to her medic role. Clint nodded while Kelly rolled her eyes.
"Yes Mom" Kelly said as we headed out. Slipping the metal thermos inside the duffle bag while Clint was securing the surfboards on top of the Hummer. We got in and Kelly started driving us to the beach.
"So, think we're gonna run in with Leah?" Clint asked Bri who only blushed a bit.
"Don't count on it besides she doesn't even know who I am yet. So probably not" Bri answered while adjusting the settings on her camera. She looked through it before nodding satisfied.
"So, what was that with Eddie Boy?" Kelly asked which surprised me. She looked at me smirking while I was a bit surprise at the nickname.
"He didn't want to come." I said with a shrug. "What's with the nickname?" I asked Kelly who was grinning at this point.
"He irritates the hell out of me. So I figured I give him a nickname that annoys him." Kelly answered smirking. Shaking my head at her just wondering how she came up with that nickname in the first place.
We arrived at the beach and saw the others already waiting. We get out and it was freezing. Clint and Kelly didn't seem bothered by it as they took off their clothes leaving them in their wetsuits. I saw a chill go up their spine when a gust of wind past them. Me, Bri and Angela decided to go wander by the driftwood as the two take pictures.
"I keep thinking Eric's going to ask me to prom, then he just doesn't" Angela said taking another picture while I looked at her. I didn't know she has a thing for Eric and it seems Bri didn't either.
"You could ask him" I told her which made her flustered at the thought of it. What was so bad about it. If someone won't ask you out then you better take charge at this point and ask the person out yourself.
"Yeah go ask him, besides even if he rejects you at least you ask" Kelly inputted walking up to us which made Angela a bit worried at the thought while Bri elbowed Kelly who pouted.
"She's right except for the whole reject you thing. Take control. You're a strong independent woman" I told her which only made Angela nervous.
"I am?" Angela asked and I was about to answer when I hear someone call my name. Turning around, I see Jacob walk up to us with two other guys and a female. If what Bri told us and how she is looking at the girl is any indication. That was Leah which meant that I was going to win if she figures out who Bri is.
"Guys, this is Jacob. What brings you here? You aren't stalking me are you?" I asked him crossing my arms at him. Jacob only scoffed at that while Bri was staring at Leah.
"You're on my rez, remember? You surfing?" Jacob asked before seeing Kelly and Clint head out into the ocean to surf. Yeah not happening especially not when it's this cold.
"Definitely not" I told him in amusement while I could see Jessica planning something which made me worried. This cannot be good.
"Keep her company. Her date bailed" Jessica said teasingly which made me groan. There was nothing going on between me and Edward and she knows that.
"What date?" Eric asked while I was wondering how Jessica thought I asked Edward out since that wasn't what happened at all. I wanted to start over with him since our last few interactions didn't turn out so well.
"She invited Edward" Jessica said making me sigh. Well this conversation turned to my love life quickly.
"It was to start over. Doesn't mean I won't change for him" I told them making Bri smile and I smile back at her. If he thinks I'm going to change who I am for him then he has another thing coming.
"I think it's nice she invited him. No one ever does" Angela said making me nod in appreciation as she smiled back.
"Because Cullen's a freak" Mike said which made me look at him as he held up his hands defensively.
"You got that right" Sam said as Bri and Leah looked at him with annoyance as if he's done this before. It surprised me they know them but it's probably because they met before.
"You know them?" I asked them pretending not to know why. Sam looks at me trying to fight back something.
"The Cullens don't come here" He said sharply. Jacob shoots Sam a look shaking his head. Seeing this made me realize that there's probably a story behind this. I saw Bri look at me and gave me a look saying that I shouldn't mess with his feelings. I wasn't since hanging around Clint and Kelly tends to make you hate having to manipulate people and mess with their feelings. I pulled Jacob aside while trying to think on how to let him know I don't like him that way.
We were walking near the water, looking out to the sea trying to see some whales. The surfers are out on the water already with Clint and Kelly doing some tricks. Looking at Jacob, I can't help but sigh knowing that it wasn't gonna be easy letting him down.
"So, what did your friend meant about the Cullens not coming here?" I asked him while slipping my hands into my jacket trying to fight off the cold breeze.
"Oops. Caught that, huh?" Jacob asked which made me give him a look. He moved closer making me tense up. If he is making a move, I swear to god. Once he realizes what he is doing he steps back.
"I'm not supposed to say anything" Jacob said making me cross my arms and looking at him giving him my best 'I'm not gonna drop this look'.
"And you do realize I can keep a secret" I said while wondering what is it with the boys here and keeping secrets from me. If I didn't know about them being Shapeshifters and the Cullens being Vampires, It might have been another story all in all.
"It's just an old scary story. Did you know the Quileutes are supposedly descended from wolves?" Jacob said laughing which made me raise an eyebrow. So that confirmed what we already knew.
"Really? Wolves? Like fur, fangs, pack mentality and dog breath?" I asked him smirking recalling how Ghost and Oreo are. Jacob chuckles while I shake my head in amusement before prompting him to continue.
"So, the legend about the Cullens is?" I asked him urging him to continue. We were trying to figure out as to why the Cullens can't come here. Was there some sort of treaty involve or something?
"Well they're supposedly descended from this, like enemy clan but they claimed to be different. So we made a treaty with them" Jacob said making me think. It was a treaty but having something like that could be dangerous since there might be a time each side will need help.
"Didn't they just move here?" I asked him pretending to be confused.
"Or just moved back" He answered which made my eyes widen. We were looking at it wrongly. Don't get us wrong we weren't obsessed with the Cullens but with both sides here. They might get involve in one of our hunts which is dangerous in it's own right.
"Ok. Say I believe you. What's this treaty?" I asked him to try and figure out more and what rules it has. Jacob leans in right beside my face feeling his breath near my ear.
"If they promised to stay off Quileute lands, we wouldn't expose what they really were to the pale-faces" Jacob said whispering as he paused wondering why he did. He was waiting for something to happen to divert the topic.
Still It makes sense now, as long as they don't come here, they won't expose who they are and probably vice versa. I jumped hearing someone yell while reaching into my jacket and placed my hand on a knife. First rule of a hunter was to always carry something to defend yourself with if worst comes to worst.
I tensed up waiting for the monster to appear before letting out a sigh of exasperation at what I saw. Eric chasing Angela with a dead crustacean. Jacob smirked and starts walking back to the group. You tricky bastard. I was also getting annoyed since I wasn't able to let him down gently. We headed back to the group seeing Bri and Leah were gone. Where are they?
(Bri's POV)
Me and Leah were sitting on the sand looking at the ocean. She pulled me aside saying she wanted to talk to me. Did she figure it out? If so, how? Was it because of the imprint, sure I feel complete with her here but other than that did she figure it out once the physical pain of being away from me fade?
"So, do you know Jane?" Leah asked offhandedly. Crap, just what I needed. Her asking if I know her. Judging from her face, she knew the answer already, but I could play it off.
"Met her once but afterward I never saw her again" I lied to her. Seeing a whale, I took a quick picture while taking note that they do appear here every now and then. It'll be a nice place to catch some pictures.
"Where exactly?" She asked casually making me sigh knowing that she was just playing me at this point. I'm not an idiot, I know when someone finds out who we are.
"Arizona" I told her before zipping up my jacket to block out the cold. It was freezing right now and I could use a hot drink or a heater right now. Leah noticed this as she came closer to me making me feel the heat coming off her making me sigh in relief feeling the cold leave.
"How long are you gonna keep this up?" She asked me making me snort in amusement. Well I don't know if it was impressive that she found out quickly or the fact that somehow this week was pretty eventful.
"Depends. How long have you known?" I asked her which made her look at me. I won't deny it, I do have some sort of semblance of feelings for her but I'm not gonna rush this.
"When I first saw you. Whatever pain I felt became lighter and lighter the more I came close to you. There was also the fact my world didn't all of a sudden change focus" She told me making me smile.
"Alright. Well I won't deny it then" I told her before hearing someone shouting my name. Turning my head, I saw Kelly waving me over already changed in her other clothes.
"Come on. We need to go!" Kelly shouted heading back to the car. I stood up immediately rushing back with Leah following. I saw Clint slip on his sweater after changing out of his wet suit as Kelly was drinking the hot chocolate from the thermos.
"What's going on?" I asked them while Clint looked at Leah before looking at me.
"We got an emergency back at home" He said as my eyes widen in surprised. There was another attack which meant whoever those three vampires are were still here.
"Alright. Clint, Leah knows" I told him making him look at Leah. He was thinking on what to do next before gesturing to the car.
"Alright. Get in the car" Clint said heading to the driver seat while Leah told Jacob to tell the other she's gonna be gone for a while. I made sure the boards were strapped up properly while Bella tossed the duffle bag in the back. We got in the car and headed out racing down the highway quickly. Kelly sat in the passenger seat while I sat in between Leah and Bella.
"Bri where did you put those things?" Kelly asked looking around for something. Trying to remember where I did put it, I quickly remembered where.
"Press the volume on the radio five times" I told Kelly who did just that as it dispense four red pills. Kelly grabbed one and quickly swallowed it while she handed the other one to me, Bella and Clint. Me and Bella quickly swallowed ours while Clint held off.
"What was that?" Leah asked seeing them swallowing the pill. I saw Clinton giving me a look knowing that I have to answer a few questions.
"Bri what do you mean she knows?" He asked me focusing on the road.
"She knows I'm Jane" Bri said making Kelly and Bella look at me in surprise while Clinton almost lose control of the car.
"What?!" Kelly and Bella shouted surprised. The car pulled up to the garage as he drove it in before looking at me and Leah.
"We'll talk more about this later but right now. We got a job to do" I told them as he got out of the car followed by Kelly and Bella. Leah looked at me with a questionable look.
"What's going on?" Leah asked. I looked at her knowing that she's gonna know about our secondary life now.
"Something happened a few days ago. Have you heard about a guy being attacked?" I asked her getting out of the car as she followed suit. We walked to the others as Clint opened the elevator heading to the base. We all got in as Leah looked at it in surprised.
"A guy was attacked by a wild animal, but Sam thinks it's the blonde bloodsucker" Leah said which surprised me and it made Kelly glare at her. So, whoever her pack is knows of the incident.
"He's half right. It's not the Cullens. We've been monitoring them for any change in behavior but nothing happened. So we came to the conclusion it was another group of vampires" I told her as the elevator stopped. We got out while Leah was busy admiring the base.
"Nice place, right?" Clint said chuckling as we headed to the locker room. Leah followed us while glaring angrily at my three teammates.
"So where are you four going then?" Leah asked snappily as we entered the locker room. We changed into our respective outfits while Leah looked at me before I stopped changing.
"Mind turning around?" I asked her as she did just that. I quickly changed while slipping on my weapons, Leah turned around looking at us.
"There was another attack. We plan to head there and see if they left any clues" Kelly told her still glaring at her. Oh great, she thinks the blonde bloodsucker was Rosalie. This was turning out to be a great first meeting.
"I'm coming with you four then" Leah said making Clint look at her before shaking his head as he slips on his mask and goggles before pulling his hood up.
"Not happening. We're just gonna be there in and out quickly" Toby said which I could see the point of. The four of us were used to using stealth but Leah hasn't run with us yet. I could see her getting angry at Toby who didn't even flinch seeing it.
"Leah calm down. I can handle myself. Remember what I do as Jane" I told her as she slowly calmed looking at me without my mask on. She sighed nodding which made me sigh in relief. If all goes well we won't even pick up on this conversation.
"We better take our bikes. If the police show up, we can split up and head separate ways then meet up here. Don't think this conversation is done Jane" Toby said making me rolls my eyes. Of course, it couldn't be that easy. I showed Leah to the monitor room where she could see what we see and hopefully help us. I'm starting to think I should stay here and help Leah learn these things.
"Nope. You and Leah are not making out here" Toby said pulling me along causing me to pout. Damn him and his ability to know what we want to do.
After getting on our bikes we started heading out of the garage to a shack by a river. Toby looked out to the water and saw a boat on the lake. Looking around, I noticed a leg on the ground and I picked it up. I grimaced seeing that it was a dog leg, poor guy. Thorn was kneeling down on the ground running a hand on the dirt. Clockwork came back after looking around the area frowning.
"I didn't see the fucking body, only animal parts" Clockwork said, her eyes shining with a bit of anger. She saw the other part of the dog which isn't good since she loves Oreo.
"It's probably on the boat. Bri mind checking it out with me?" He asked and I nodded. Going over to him, he touched my shoulder and used his blink to teleport us there. If you ever been inside it, it's like being covered by light before appearing somewhere else. Seeing the body, I started checking for any wounds or any signs of resisting.
"What do you think?" Toby asked taking pictures with his goggles. No signs of fighting, judging from how warm his body still is. He hasn't been dead from long and seeing he was out here, he was trying to get away. They must have took him by surprised and he was too scared to fight back.
"He hasn't been dead long maybe an hour or two. Not only that but he must have tried to get away. Blood is completely sucked out of him. I don't know where they went" I told Toby who sighed nodding. He finished up taking time to identify who he is. He blinked us back to where the others are.
"Tracks are still fresh meaning they came from this way judging from how the ground is" Thorn said looking at the forest that surrounded the lake. It wasn't that far from our home but they avoided it since they either knew the Cullens are there or something else.
"I looked around. He was here on his own probably why they chose him. All the guys they attacked so far have been alone" Clockwork said which makes sense. Since the two people we've seen are alone they were easier targets since it meant no one was around that could spot them.
"Let's head back to base. We need to have a small talk about what happened" Ticci said making me groan knowing what it was about.
We headed back to base where Leah was waiting for us. Whatever incompleteness I felt immediately disappeared which was a relieve. We went to the main room in the base and removed our masks while the unofficial leader of the group looked at us.
"How did she find out?" Clint asked crossing his arms. I can't blame him for doing this since while it was only four of us. It couldn't mean that one of us can't be controlled to tell the truth.
"Remember the whole Imprinting thing? Apparently whenever me and Leah are close it won't her feel anymore physical pain and I will feel complete" I told him making him sigh before he throw his hands up.
"Well that changes everything. Anyone else imprinted on a shapeshifter?" He asked making Kelly snort while Bella rolled her eyes at how he was acting.
"Wait you knew that I was a shapeshifter?" Leah asked angry making him look at her with a glint in his eye. Oh no, Clint don't you dare.
"No. We know that you're wolf who can change into a human by granting a magic wish" He said sarcastically making Kelly snort while wiping a imaginary tear. Well glad she was proud but that only angered Leah more.
"Leah calm down. We won't judge you or your siblings or Jacob" I told her placing a hand on her shoulder as she took deep breaths to calm down.
"So what are you gonna do? Keep me away from Bri?" She asked crossing her arms while I gave Clint the look which stunned him.
"Um...Kelly, Bella. A little help please" He said as his voice was starting to break. Kelly and Bella exchanged looks which was a first since Kelly could never see eye to eye with Bella.
"Nope. You're on your own" The two said in sync which didn't take long for him to break as he sighed.
"Fine. She can stay here if she wants to. Wait what about the whole Cullen Shapeshifter thing?" He asked confused about that as Bella looked at him on that one.
"Apparently the Quileute and Cullens have a treaty going on where they can't step foot in each other territories" Bella said thinking about something. Kelly and Clint exchanged look knowing what it was.
"Wait then isn't our place some sort of peace terriroty then since ya know. We aren't part of the treaty so we are basically immune from it" Kelly said which was true. We aren't part of the treaty so whatever property our house covers is a place where both sides can step in and they can't fight here.
"That is true. Now did you and Clint warm up yet?" I asked them stepping into my role as the medic of the team. We were in a rush heading to the base that I didn't have time to make sure they were warm up.
"We did" Clint answered shrugging his shoulders while Kelly whistled innocently. Narrowing my eyes, I grabbed a scanner before placing it in front of the two. I'm not going to trust them when it involves their health. Looking at the results, I frowned before glaring at Kelly.
"Kelly...Warm up. Now" I told her sternly while she rolled her eyes. She didn't know that there might be a chance that she could get sick.
"Relax. No one jinxed us so I doubt it'll happen" Kelly said confidently while Bella whistled innocently. We all turned to her slowly with Leah having a raised eyebrow.
"Am I missing something? Why are you all scared of a jinx?" Leah asked making Clint winced, Bella looking around frightened, Kelly look away with a scared look while I hug Leah shaking surprising her before she hugged back.
"It was our second month with Bella in our group. She accidentally said that was easy after a mission, making a horde of monsters show up. Then Kelly followed it with a 'it couldn't get worse' which made a group of fury and harpies to show up. We barely escape that one" I told her afraid that something bad will happen now.
"So Bella. What the fuck did you do?" Kelly asked her glaring at her heatedly. Just when I thought Kelly was just about to get along with her this happened.
"I may have accidentally thought no one would get sick" She answered wincing making Kelly pale.
"If it happens...I'm blaming you" Kelly replied glaring leaving the base to head to her room. Looking at Leah, I showed her my room before going to my computer and started doing some homework. Leah looked out the window thinking about something.
"Why do this? Why not just live in ignorance?" Leah asked me making me stop what I was doing.
"If I don't, what will happen then? I wouldn't have met you since these monsters would be rampaging everything here, killing everyone" I told her turning to her as she looked at me.
"You shouldn't have to. We could have fought them off" Leah said stubbornly before I got up and sat down in front of her.
"Not if we have a say in it. We're doing this so all of you could live a normal life" I told her making her glare at me while she tried not to get angry.
"But what If you die?" She asked making me stop. It crossed all our minds before when we started doing this. We didn't have a choice.
"It'll be worth it. Besides, I won't die until we're officially together" I told her surprising her since she didn't expect that.
"I thought we were together already?" She asked making me giggle. If she thinks I'm that easy, she has another thing coming.
"Not yet, you need to make me want to be with you with a few dates. You hit the jackpot tiger but are you gonna work for it?" I asked her making her look at me challengingly. It was on and I can't wait to explore whatever Leah will do to win me over.
