Sometimes Coles's father would come home drunk. It always scared him when you did because he would always scream at Cole and his mom. Tonight looked like one of those nights again.

Past my bedtime

It was past Coles bedtime and cole heard a really loud noise. So he left his room to investigate the noise. When he saw his mother all bloody and beaten up, he immediately ran to the phone and called 911. The cops and an ambulance showed up and took his father away in a cop car. The nice ambulance people said that his mom should be okay.

So I run and hide

When weeks later he and his mom walked into the police station and saw his dad chained up like a monster he ran and hide behind his mom. When it was finally time for him to talk to his dad he asked him this simple question "Hate to ask, but what's it like to leave me behind"?

Cole told his dad one time on a visit that he would never be like him. In return, he got a ¨ you cant stop DNA¨. He didn't bring it up again after that.

Cole remembers the night his mom came home drunk. She screamed and yelled at him just like his dad did to him before. Suddenly she always came home drunk Cole learned how to cook and clean at a young age because of that.

Cole always hated the word hello because he knew it also meant at some time goodbye. One night Cole tried asking his mother the question ¨Hate to ask, but what's it like to leave me behind¨? It didn't work out so well though because she started an angry rant about how dare he say that to her.

That same night he swore to himself he would never be like his mother either.

When Cole grew up and got married, he had kids but he was always scared that maybe he will be like his parents.

Once when Cole got really mad at his kids he started yelling at them. He will never forget the looks of terror they had on their faces.
