Round 1: Supporting a Special Friend
Ash and Harrison walked to Stadium Number 4 where May was competing. May was battling a trainer named Johnny Goodfair. On his side of the field was a Girafarig and on May's side was her Glaceon.
"So this trainer May," Harrison asked. "She was one of your friends who went with you to Mount Silver, right?"
"That is correct," Ash said. "In what felt like an instant she was willing to leave everything behind, all for me. I still haven't found a way to properly thank her for that."
"Sounds to me like this girl is really important to you Ash," Harrison said. "I can tell you really like her. Why don't you say something to her?"
"Nah, I couldn't do that," Ash exclaimed, his face turning red. "I feel like I could mess up and ruin 11 years of friendship."
"Girafarig, use Psyshock!"
"Glaceon use Protect. Then hit him with an aurora beam."
The Girafarig launched a bunch of purple balls of energy at Glaceon. Glaceon formed a blue shield around itself, protecting her from the psyshock attack. Then when the shield subsided Glaceon shot an aurora beam at Girafarig. After being hit, Girafarig froze and thawed out in the same turn.
"Girafarig, time for your final move. Use Attract." Girafarig shot out a flurry of hearts that hit and overwhelmed the ice type Eeveelution. Glaceon dug her heels into the ground trying to resist falling in love.
Ash used his aura manipulation to listen in on what the Pokemon were saying.
'Why have you not fallen in love with me yet?' The Girafarig was saying.
'It's because I already am in love. I have a mate,' Glaceon said.
"Why isn't Glaceon affected," Harrison asked.
"It's because that would be unfaithful to her mate. May's female Glaceon is already in love with my male Umbreon," Ash replied.
"Glaceon, end this with Swift!" May said.
Glaceon jumped in the air and did a front flip shooting gold stars at Girafarig. Girafarig fell to the ground and fainted.
"Girafarig is unable to battle, which means May and Glaceon are the winners!"
After the battle Ash and Harrison went to go meet May after she battled to congratulate her on her win. "Nice battling out there Contest Girl," Ash said, giving the female trainer a high five.
"Well 'World's Greatest Trainer,'" May said back. "I'm glad that you saw the end of my battle."
"May, this is Harrison," Ash said introducing the two. "He's an old friend. We met back in the Silver Conference when I was 10. He's from Hoenn, just like you."
"11 years ago I beat Ash and moved on to the semi-finals, but lost then. This time though, Ash beat me fair and square," Harrison was telling May.
"It's nice to meet you, Harrison. We better get our new schedules for the next rounds of the tournament," May said. "We should all head to the Pokemon Center together and heal our Pokemon."
The trio walked down the roadway from Stadium 4 to the Pokemon Center and healed all of their Pokemon. Ash and May spent the rest of the day socializing with Harrison.
As the sun was setting, Ash and May were saying their goodbyes to Harrison. "You sure you don't want to stay for a few more weeks?" Ash asked.
"I would love to," Harrison was saying. "But I have to return to Kalos now that I'm out of the tournament. Blaziken and I are helping Professor Sycamore study mega evolution in different regions. It looks like we're heading back sooner than expected."
"Well feel free to stop by and hang out whenever you're in Kanto," Ash said.
With a nod and an exchange of phone numbers, Harrison turned and walked into the sunset with his partner Blaziken walking at his side.
