Basikov brings his guards in. "We have won" he told them with a happier cold voice. He had finally gotten to do something successfully with the support from others. Dorwen also enters the room. He said "What happened?"
Basikov said "There has been a change in leadership."
Dorwen gave a menacing smirk.
Basikov says "I have the need for someone to find affiliates to Lartuen."
Dorwen vows and says "With pleasure my master."
One of his guards ask "So who will be your second in command?"
Basikov says "I am appointing my friend, Lareneg, he will be my second in command."
Basikov is no fool when he comes to this choice. He knows while Dorwen and him were on the same side on Lartuen, he knows that Dorwen will sell him out, if it is convenient for him. He chose his friend, for the new leader trusted very few of his people personally.
Basikov knows that now that his mission has been a success, he must contact Sauron via the Palantir, to know what is next.
Basikov tells Sauron that "My mission has been a success. What shall I do now?"
Sauron says "Excellent work, you must rally your people behind you. Soon, the Witch King will make a visit to your place. You two will discuss many things."
Basikov knows that now it is time for his speech but first he gets his friend, to tell him the news.
"Hello, Lareneg. I have some important news for you." said Basikov. "You have no need to fear me, my friend."
Lareneg asks "So what will it be?"
Basikov says "You are now my second in command, and my general."
Lareneg says "This is an honor. I promise to help North Barrow Downs thrive once more."
Basikov says "And so we shall."
Basikov's other friends were appointed to ranks within the Madaw for their reliability in being loyal to the new leadership.
It was now time for Basikov to make the announcement of taking the reins for leadership. The Barrow Wights were outside the palace ready for the speech.
He enters out from the top balcony of his palace with his personal guards and Lareneg.
He says, in his cold and manipulative voice, " We, the military, have some unfortunate announcements to make. Leader Lartuen is dead! Before any anger arises, just know he was in horrible shape. He was going to die soon. Without appropriate action, he would die and the North would have plunged into chaos. We put him out of his misery, and have decided that I, Colonel Basikov will take charge of leadership. You may ask why I am not calling myself lord or king. I am not because I am one of you, now taking the power for our people. I know Lartuen was hated by you the people of North Barrow Downs, but I am different. I promise reforms and changing of policies. For too long, we, Barrow Wights have been oppressed by many including the Elves. I will work to change that. My interests are your interests. Fear me not, for it is liberty. It is freedom. It is salvation. I thank you, the people for making all this happen."
The audience applauds their new leader. It is evident that many are looking forward to his rulership. Sauron had won, for his old ally has returned.
