Chapter 8: Future Anxieties
Age: 755
Two weeks have passed since Chi-Chi learned of the peculiar circumstances of Trunks. Her training has come to a halt, and Trunks chose not to return to the Ox King's castle. Chi-Chi sat in her bed pondering what the lavender-haired boy had told her. 'That me... she's going to die alone with nobody,'
That idea, that thought, is what keep drilling itself into her mind. 'That other Chi-Chi, no I need to be honest she is not some else, she's just me. Up to meeting Trunks she had to exact same life as me, the exact same choices, the exact same thoughts, and she'll die alone. She has no one. No son, no family, and no loved ones. There's nothing for her left but sad memories. My husband has a heart attack, and a couple of robots kill my only child.' The young woman thought to herself.
A series of loud knocks came from the other side of the room's door. "CHI-CHI!" The Ox King spoke.
"Go away." Chi-Chi softly said.
"Chi-Chi its one o'clock ya still haven't ate anything. You've been in your room all day for weeks," Ox King told the princess.
"I don't want anything dad," she whispered.
Ox King let out an audible sigh. He peered down at the floor below him and made a frown. "Chi-Chi I'm gonna come in there," Ox King informed her.
"Please down," Chi-Chi pleaded.
The door creaked as the large man turned the knob. As he walked in he turned his head to face the bed; and saw his little girl curled up in her silk sheets tears being visible on the edges of her eyes. "Chi-Chi," the Ox King quietly mumbled.
"I.. I don't want to talk about it dad," she said as she turned her face away from her father.
The large man continued to walk towards her and sat on her bed next to her. "Its about what Trunks told you isn't it?" the Ox King gently asked his daughter.
The young woman just nodded in response. The Ox King put his hand on her cheek. He wiped off the tear from her eyes. "Chi-Chi, you look just like your mother," Ox King began to say.
"Dad-" she began to say.
"Chi-Chi, let me finish please," he continued cutting her off.
The young Ox Princess moved her hand to move the tear from her other eye off and nodded her head again. "Your mother was the most beautiful woman on the planet, the two of us had a great life together, and I loved every second of it. When she died I felt like my entire world fell apart. I-," The Ox King began to look down for a moment before pulling his head back up and continuing, " I didn't know what I would do without her, but after awhile you learn to cherish the memories you did have, the ones you made, with those people you love. You also learn to cherish what you have left," he said moving his thumb across her cheek.
"Dad," Chi-Chi replied with a warmth and sincerity in her voice.
"Look Chi-Chi personally I don't believe for a second what you've said you got told by Trunks, but even if it is you have not made those memories yet. You have your whole life ahead of you. You can do anything you want. I won't lie I would love for you to marry Goku, seeing that boy reminds me of my days with Gohan training under Master Roshi. That's my story, not yours Chi-Chi. If you're this tore up about what you got told change it, simple as that. I'll have one of the chefs bring your food, but I'll leave you to it, you seem like you got a lot of thinking to do," The Ox King said with a smile.
He pulled back his arm, got up, and walked out of the room. Chi-Chi was left there by herself to do just what the monarch said, think. Chi-Chi turned to her window and just peered out into the distance and began to think about the young saiyan.
"Ugh I'm such an idiot," Trunks said sitting next to a tree in the middle of the forest his palm on his face.
"That was a terrible decision, why did I tell her that I should have known that would terrify her. I'm going to ruin everything. Oh kami I'm a horrible person I hope she'll be okay," Trunks lamented to himself.
A rustling noise came from the nearby bushes. Trunks immediately jumped up and took out his sword. He got instance extending his sword towards the bush and got ready to fight. "I mean I couldn't say it was the best decision, but like I said definitely my fault," Chi-Chi said as she walked out from behind the shrubbery.
"Chi-Chi!" Trunks said with surprised as he put his sword back in its hilt and stood normally.
"Hi, Trunks its been a good bit since we last saw each other I am sorry about that," Chi-Chi admitted.
"..Yeah," Trunks said.
'She's okay?' Trunks thought in amazement.
"I kind of forced you to tell me something that you did not want me to know for an, admittedly understandable reason, and I got mad when I took it the wrong way," Chi-Chi explained.
She bowed down in front of the young man. "I'm sorry Trunks," she said before getting up from her position.
"Um, Thank you?" Trunks said in a confused manner.
"Trunks," the Ox Princess said in a stern tone.
"...Yes?" Trunks replied.
"I want to you to train me to the point I can fight the androids," she said.
"Chi-Chi, its not that simple. I can barely fight the androids and I've trained since I was 13 to fight them and was trained by the strongest man on earth," Trunks explained.
"Well are you as strong as he was?" Chi-Chi asked.
"Well, I am but-" Trunks began to explain.
"Then I don't see the problem," Chi-Chi commented.
"Chi-Chi there are so many things in between now and when the androids show up and it would change everything so much!" Trunks went on.
"Trunks, why are you this far back in the past?" Chi-Chi said.
"I accidentally went 10 years too far and don't know how many more trips I make with it," Trunks admitted.
"Okay didn't you come back to change the past?" she said.
"Okay, but just with the androids I might get erased from history or something like that if I change too much!" Trunks tried to emphasize.
"Trunks wouldn't you have already been erased by now?" she asked.
"I mean... maybe, I'm not exactly sure about the specifics of it works. It's a bit of a first attempt with this," he said.
"Trunks, please I want to help," Chi-Chi said.
Trunks looked at the woman in front of him, her eyes had this feeling of earnest. She was looking directly at him pleading for him to let her help. "I don't want to do nothing, I want to help the others beat the androids," she said.
Trunks took a deep breath, and answered, "I'll help you get stronger, but I'm not going to do that much. I'll train to around Goku and the others around this time. Okay?" he told her.
Chi-chi's mouth formed a smile and replied, "Alright, I can do the rest myself,"
