Chapter 9

Rachel threw her keys on the side as her and ben walked into the house. She was absolutely shattered after a seven hour round trip. Ben had very minimal things with him. They had picked up a Chinese on the way back and Rachel served it up bringing in two plates.

"Thanks auntie rach" Ben smiled

"Sorry I havent got a table yet" Rachel smiled sitting next to him "nor have you got a bed but this can be sorted" she said taking a mouthful of her curry.

"I was expecting to see Adam"

"Long story, were not together anymore" Rachel smiled weakly.

Ben was just thirteen and in year 8 at school, he had Rachel's hair that had very clearly been passed down the generations. If anyone didn't know, it would be assumed that he was her son.

"What about school and things like that?"

"Well I work in a school so your be going to school with me, you can sleep on the sofa tonight and we will get a bed as soon as we can and begin decorating the room upstairs. And we will get you registered at a doctors nearby so you have support with your mental health. And you have enough clothes until the weekend where we can go shopping or you can, which ever you prefer"

"Thanks Auntie Rach" Ben smiled

"Just call me Rach" Rachel smiled.

The morning after soon arrived. Rachel had woken Ben up at 6:30am, which didn't go down too well, but they had breakfast of toast and jam and made their way to the school.

"Right you come in with me for the moment and we can get you settled" Rachel said to ben as she pulled up and turned the engine off. They both walked in together and went up to the office, Rachel leading the way. Ben sat on the sofas and messed about on his phone. "Has your mother attempted to contact you?" Rachel asked getting some files from the filing cabinet and going back to her desk.

"Nope"

Rachel sighed and shook her head.

"Morning" Kim smiled making herself known as she looked between ben and Rachel.

"Morning" Rachel smiled finally sitting down at her desk.

"Morning" Eddie followed soon after.

"Eddie!" Ben got up and went to hug him.

"Hiya mate, what you doing here?" Eddie asked hugging him back.

"His living with me now, after a seven hour round trip yesterday that's why I had to leave early Mel kicked him out" Rachel said. "They delivered the mattress to my front garden" Rachel sighed

"Seriously?" Eddie asked

"Yep, she's pregnant again, baby number seven and I managed to get it in the house"

"I know its your sister but she's a whore" Eddie said sitting next to ben who giggled.

"Tell me news" Rachel smirked. "Sorry Kim"

"No its fine I totally understand"

"Ben are you able to sit in the other office for me?"

Ben nodded and went outside and sat in Janeeces office. Rachel got up and closed the door "his got a lot of issues that his going to need support with, his on medication for anxiety and depression which no doubt his mother has caused and his dyslexic" Rachel said leaning against her desk.

"No issue, I can keep regular updates with him" Kim said.

"Would you mind?"

"Not at all"

Rachel sighed "I just feel so bad for him, Philips living with Ros now and there engaged. It just seems like I'm picking up mel's pieces all the time…sorry I'm ranting"

"No its good to get it out" Eddie said rubbing her arm. Rachel looked up at his face at the touch, it was like a spark had entered her body and she wanted him closer. After staring for a good couple of minutes Kim interrupted them.

"So, plan for the day?" Kim asked

"Erm, Yeah" Rachel said swallowing hard and looking at Kim. "There isn't a lot to discuss this morning, just the fact I'm tired and need sleep" Rachel chuckled

Eddie smiled "Yeah know that feeling, this Friday, I honestly think we should organise a social"

"Remember we used too? That watering hole by the school" Rachel chuckled reminiscing about the one two many wines she had in that pub.

"So much drama happened in that pub" Kim laughed "Won't do much harm I'm sure Andrew can have the kids for one drink"

"Yeah, plus I owe you're a drink for all the help you've given me" Rachel smiled sitting down by Kim "Right Eddie, are you able to help settle in ben?" She asked looking at him.

"Of course" he smiled back "He knows me so its helpful"

Rachel nodded "Janeece has his timetable I just want a chat with Kim if that's okay?"

"Sure, I'll get too it" He smiled walking out the office closing the door behind him.

"This is a nightmare of epic proportions" Rachel said out loud breathing out.

"What is?" Kim asked looking at her.

"All I seem to want to do is kiss Eddie, why am I feeling like this?" Rachel sighed looking down at her fingers.

"I do notice how red you go when you see him" Kim smiled looking at her best friend.

"I don't know if it's the fact that I've not had sex in months and really need it, or it's the fact that my body is like a magnet" Rachel said openly.

"I think it's both" Kim chuckled "do you still like him?"

"I would happily spend the rest of my life with him, he is my one true love, I settled for Adam as Mel stole Eddie, but his a single bachelor and I'm contemplating it, even though we've not seen eye to eye as much" Rachel sighed "Why is love so difficult?"

"Because it's love"

"But I don't want any distractions, and now with ben, its just so difficult, ive only been separated from Adam for just over a month or so, is it right for me to move on?"

"If it's what you want then yes it is"
