Hello everyone, here's the next chapter of this story. I'm rather excited about this one since it's the first motive and maybe kill for this story. I'll try not to rush it but sorry if it is, I'm just really excited about it.
Chapter 1-4: Pure Love True Hate- Motive and Victim
The morning announcements had gone off the same as usual and Hanako headed towards the dining room to eat. Although once everyone had entered the dining room, the intercom went off again.
"Hello, my lovely students~! Monomaho here to inform you that the entrance to the bedrooms will be locked until 6 pm for preparations for the slumber party! Please be patient while this is going on. Okay, bye bye now~!"
"Great, I guess I can't stay in my room for the day anymore." Noburo groaned.
"If I'm being honest, I'm worried of what Monomaho might add. She does want us to kill each other." Cora spoke up.
"Then just ignore what she adds, or don't be tempted by it, simple." Chase said, waving a hand dismissively.
"Might be simple for you, but for others there may- Do you need something, Konohana?" Yuria suddenly asked, drawing attention to the other girl as she seemed to realize where she was.
"Oh, sorry. I thought I... saw something behind you. Guess it was nothing." Konohana said.
"Alright then." Yuria said.
"If we're just going to sit here and worry, I'm going to go off to do something more important." Yvette said as she stood up and left.
"Well, she might not have the right attitude, but the right idea. Worrying will not get us anywhere. Let's just go about our day as normal." Phoebe said.
"Whatever." Mila said, earning an eyebrow twitch from Phoebe.
"As I was saying," Phoebe continued on. "I hope everyone has a good day." She said before everyone started to disperse.
Hanako was going to step out of the dining room when a voice stopped her.
"Hanako, can I talk to you?" Konohana asked as she walked up to her.
"Sure, do you need something?" Hanako asked in return, a hand still on the door, keeping it open slightly.
"Yes. You see, there's something I wanted to... discuss with you. And you're the only one I could ask. Um, rather then Yvette, but she's not quite as nice as you." Konohana admitted.
Hanako couldn't help a chuckle at that remark but nodded. "I'll do my very best."
"That's good. Alright, you see, I was wondering if it's common in the magical world to see, well, beings I guess?" Konohana asked.
"Beings?" Hanako thought about it. "Well, it's not common, but some do, why do you ask?"
"Well, I was wondering, how would I get to seeing them?" Konohana asked, her eyes flickering to behind Hanako before back to her.
Hanako glanced back for a moment, seeing nothing but the door and the opening, which she saw Aster and Yuria walking by in the middle of a conversation.
"Well, there is a spell that can give people a sight, but it's rather complicated." Hanako finally answered.
"How soon would you be able to make it, for example?" Konohana asked.
"I would need my spellbook, to make sure it works, but it's in my room, so..." Hanako trailed off.
"Ah..." Konohana said, looking disappointed but shook her head to clear it. "Well, maybe later you can show me?"
"Sure." Hanako nodded as Konohana smiled before she walked out.
"Something tells me she's not just curious about it." Hanako said to herself before she walked off.
Soon after dinner, the intercom went off again.
"Good evening my lovely students! Everything is all set up, so everyone get in your pajamas and enjoy the sleepover! Attendance is mandatory~ Okay, bye bye now~"
Everyone gathered at the entrance to the bedrooms, some more reluctant than others. Hanako opened the doors and saw the common room was changed into the perfect set up for the sleepover. Many pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags strewn about all over the place, snacks and drinks set up on the table, and various games and movies set up by the TV.
"Oh wow!" Gerard squealed in excitement. "This is gonna be so much fun!" She said as she rushed to her room to get her pajamas. Everyone else going to do the same at a more sedated pace.
Hanako stepped out of her room soon enough, wearing silk lilac colored pajamas under a purple night gown. She headed towards the common room and saw everyone enjoying the party in their own way, or making the best of the situation for those that didn't want to be there.
Gerard was bouncing in place, wearing a large blue t-shirt and black athletic shorts, near the TV as she watched a movie with Konohana, who was wearing a long ruffled pink night gown with rose patterns on it, Aster, who was wearing a purple tank top and black sweatpants, and Loch, who was wearing a white undershirt and blue boxers with orange fishes on them.
On the other side of the snack table, Yvette, who was wearing a white silk night gown with a pink robe and slippers, was giving Yuria, wearing a royal blue night gown, it seems like most of the girls have similar pajamas, a tarot reading. For fun probably, but Hanako didn't see what kind of reading it was, since Phoebe was somewhat blocking her view of it, who was also wearing a grey night gown with stockings, her hair free and flowing.
Takeshi, wearing army green pajamas, and Atsushi, wearing a black shirt and shorts, were playing a card game near the snack table. Nearby them, Chase, wearing dark blue flannels, was playing a very competitive board game with Kenzo, who had on a white t-shit and red pajama pants with black slippers. Cora, who had on a peach colored nightdress with lace frills and a chest pocket on the right side with a sailboat on it, was trying to mediate and calm the two down while Koichi, who had on a grey shirt and pajama pants, along with the mask still on their face for some reason, was watching it impassively.
The only two outliers, Mila, who was wearing a black tank top and red shorts, the odd one out along with Gerard when it came to sleepwear, and Noburo, who had on a brown, baggy, long sleeves shirt with a lot of patches and red stained design, black shorts and green frog slipper, unexpected cute from him, sitting in different corners of the room away from the activity.
Hanako was going to join the movie watching group but seeing the two loners made her want to join one of them. She looked between the two before deciding to talk to Mila, she can tease Noburo another time.
Hanako walked over to Mila and sat down beside her, undeterred by the sharp look the other girl gave her.
"So, why are you sitting over here all by yourself?"
"I don't really see why I should tell you." Mila said curtly, looking away from Hanako.
"Oh come on, it's a party, you're supposed to have fun and hang out." Hanako said, bumping her shoulder.
"Then why aren't you doing that with Noburo? You seem to enjoy disturbing him." Mila said before she stopped when she saw Gerard had went over to the other undead when the movie ended and was bugging him like usual.
"He looks taken at the moment." Hanako joked, causing Mila to sigh angrily.
Hanako looked at her and thought for a moment before she snapped her fingers and summoned a piece of paper and a pencil. She wrote something on it before holding it out to the other girl.
"What's this?" Mila asked as she stared at the paper.
"Think of it as a token of friendship. A good luck charm, literally." Hanako said as Mila slowly took the paper and looked over it.
"Your handwriting is shit." Mila bluntly said.
Hanako couldn't help the little twitch of irritation, not noticing how Mila slipped the paper into her pocket. "Well, excuse me. I would normally pretty it up after but any outside magic tampered with the luck."
"Whatever you say." Mila retorted. Before Hanako could bounce back, a poof of magic appeared at the side of the room and Monomaho appeared.
"Hello there, everyone~ Are you all enjoying the sleepover?"
"We were until you showed up." Kenzo said, crossing his arms.
"Ah, how mean." Monomaho huffed. "And here I was about to give you all a surprise." She sulked, dragging her wand along the floor lazily.
"Surprise? What kind of surprise?" Gerard asked, ever the optimist.
"I'm glad you asked! Here it is!" Monomaho said before she waved her wand, another poof of magic appearing beside her before it slowly disappearing to reveal some kind of machine with a microphone attached to it.
"Is that... a karaoke machine?" Konohana asked.
"You got it! It's a very special karaoke machine~ Would anyone want to give it a try?" The magical cat asked.
For several moments nobody made a noise or move to go up to the machine, worried if Monomaho had done anything to it.
"Well..." Everyone looked over and saw Cora stand up. "If nobody else will, I can give it a shot." She said as she walked up to the machine.
"Be careful." Phoebe said as Cora grabbed the microphone and went to pick a song.
"Oh, don't worry about that." Monomaho stopped her. "I charmed it so it'll pick the song best for you."
"Well, alright then..." Cora smiled nervously before she waited for the machine to start. Once the music started playing, a rather bubbly pop beat, she started to relax, smiling a bit as she swayed to the music. Once the lyrics came up, she started singing, the more enthusiastic students cheering for her.
As she sang, Hanako noticed it looked like she only singing half-heartedly, but she chalked that up with it being stage fright.
Once she was finished with the song, everyone applauded.
Cora blushed a bit but smiled happily. "Oh dear, thank you everyone!"
"Me next! Me next! I want to go next!" Gerard shouted, bouncing excitedly and waving her hand rapidly. It seemed like the suspicion had faded away after Cora had sang her song.
Soon enough, more people had taken their turn, Gerard singing a song that was about as energetic as she was, Takeshi singing along to a rather loud song, even Hanako decided to take a turn.
Although after her turn, she decided to make some mischief. "Come on, Nooby~ Why don't you give it a shot?"
Noburo immediately stiffened before glaring at her. "No way in hell."
"Come on, Noburo!" Gerard said, turning towards him. "It'll be fun!" She grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards the microphone.
"I said no! Let go of me!" Noburo said, struggling to get back before he was in front of Hanako, who was holding the mic out to him.
"Come on, just one song." Hanako smiled as she waved the mic in his glaring face before he snatched it away from her.
"Fine, if you're forcing me." He grumbled, which was barely heard over Gerard's cheer as the two girl went to sit down.
His song started playing, but it was different then the ones the others had sang, and it became clear why when certain lyrics came up.
"I wanna die, wanna die
But don't really wanna die
You were there, you would care
Making me aware
Every scar, all the blood
More and more, they're never done
Not enough, not enough
I wanna die, wanna die
But don't really wanna die
If I died, you would cry
And I don't know why
Every scar, all the blood
More and more, they're never done
Not enough, not enough"
Noburo quickly shut the machine off after he sang that, everything quiet for a long while.
The silence was broken by the laughter of a certain magical cat. "I was waiting for something like this~"
"What the fuck was that?" Kenzo demanded.
"I told you this machine was special~ Not only does it pick the song for you, the song you sing is special too~" Monomaho said.
"Special how?" Yvette asked.
"Let me introduce you to the first motive~! For everyone who sings on this karaoke machine, a wish will be granted! But you can only earn it within twenty four hours by killing someone! I call it, Siren Song!"
"Wait, so that machine is actually a motive?" Koichi asked, a mask with a shocked expression quickly appearing on his face.
"Well of course. You all definitely weren't going to start killing if I didn't do something." Monomaho said.
"We aren't going to kill anyone! How many times do we have to tell you?!" Cora yelled. "And not for any wish either!"
"Are you sure about that?" Monomaho shot back. "It could be for anything, money, fame, true love, even... to bring someone back to life~" She giggled as the realization came to everyone.
"Well, if you're really adamant about it, just wait the 24 hours and the wish will be gone~ You better hope the others feel the same way~" Monomaho giggled darkly before brightening up again. "Okay, it is 30 minutes until nighttime everyone! This may be a sleepover, but that does not mean you should not get a good night's rest! Good night everyone!" She said before she disappeared again in a puff of magic, the karaoke machine left where it was.
"Should've known something like this would happen." Mila commented.
"I thought it was just gonna be a fun party..." Gerard whimpered sadly.
"That hasn't changed." Phoebe said. "It's like she said, if we do nothing, nothing will come from it. Let's all just ignore it and continue with the sleepover until it's time for bed."
Everyone made various sounds of agreement as they went back to what they were doing before Monomaho had shown up.
Eventually, the nighttime announcement went off, and everyone got ready to go to sleep, picking various spots on the floor with their pillows and blankets and going to sleep.
Hanako was stiffed half-awake by the sound of footsteps before soft music was heard.
"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream"
The music soon stopped, having lulled Hanako back to sleep.
The morning announcements went off, waking everyone up.
"Ugh, that was some weird dream." Hanako said, as she sat up and stretched, before standing up and heading to her room to get ready for the day like everyone else.
After she got fully dressed in her usual outfit, she stepped out of the common room and headed down the hall to the dining room.
"Hey Hana!" A voice shouted as she turned to look, seeing that Gerard running towards her. "You wanna walk together to breakfast?"
"Sure, why not?" Hanako said as they continued walking.
"Last night was super fun! We should do it again some time!" Gerard said.
"Yeah, it was rather fun, as from... well, you know." Hanako said, waving her hand before she noticed something ahead. The door to the backyard was slightly open.
"I thought Yuria waited until after breakfast for training." Hanako commented as she walked up to the door, Gerard following behind her.
"Maybe she decided to get one in before?" Gerard suggested as Hanako grabbed the door handle.
As she did, a feeling of dread welled up in her. A cold, dark feeling that felt like what she was about to see will shatter the calm of the days before.
'No, I'm just overthinking it.' She thought as she shook her head. 'There's going to be nothing in the backyard.' She psyched herself up before she threw the door open, quickly realizing how wrong she was.
On the edge of the half frozen pool, the water slightly tinted by the blood coming from the wound on the head of the waterlogged corpse of the Ultimate Student, Konohana Nire
And here's the end of the last of the Daily Life chapter. Sorry, I got too excited about this and decided to go ahead and make the victim reveal now. Hope you all enjoy this chapter, and get to thinking on who might be the blackened of this first case! A special thank you to The Rose Shadow21 for sending me the unfortunate Ultimate Student. She's a great character. Anyways, I'll see y'all next time!
