The News and Media outlets were booked outside the gates of U.A when Haruka arrived at school. At the very sight of them she left all the blood drain from her face as she tried to pass through, but just as she was about to pass through, one of the reporters held a microphone our to her.
"So what is it like you work with All Might?"
Her whole body started to tremble as she tried her best to come up with an answer, "Well… he's… umm...All Might is…."
As if by some miracle, she felt Miyumi walk up next to, join in tho whatever this interview was. "You know, that kid over there's got the best combat score in our class. Why don't you ask him about All Might?" She then pointed over to Bakugou, who was quickly speed walking his way to class. This managed to work as the reporter and her crew was now following after Bakugou.
Haruka was still trembling as she watched the reports leave, "Why did you send them after Bakugou?"
"Cause he's the closest one here" Miyumi said, "You really didn't look very comfortable with them around huh?"
"Well yea," she admitted, "I'm guessing that's why Mister Aizawa doesn't like the media attention."
"Probably, anyway we should probably try to head to class." The two quickly head off into school, watching as their classmates try their best to deal with the reporters and media. They all eventually get to class along with everyone else and sit in their seats, with Mr Aizawa coming in soon after, going after the results of the battle training yesterday, more specifically giving a somewhat pep talk to Midoriya and Bakugou. He then looked over at Haruka and Miyumi, but didn't say anymore as he continued.
"Now onto homeroom business, sorry for the sudden announcement but..."
Everyone suddenly sat up straight in their seats, Is this gonna be another test? Everyone thought.
"You need to decide on a class representative."
Oh so just normal school stuff, everyone seemed to almost relax. Though that was short lived as the whole classroom, as everyone began to argue about who should be class rep. Plenty of people were putting their hands up, with some of those being Kirishima, Mina and others, though the one being the loudest was Bakugou who now looked more angry than he did before; even Miyumi had her hand up excitedly.
Aizawa didn't seem even remotely fazed by this as he suddenly zipped himself up in his sleeping bag. "Whatever, just make the decision before I wake up from my nap." He then crashed onto his desk and fell asleep. Haruka looked concerned at her teacher, How can he sleep through all this noise?
It was all while this was going on that Iida suddenly brought somewhat calm to the class "The class representative can't just be anyone, they have to be someone that can lead the class and have everyone's trust." Although despite how noble and just he was sounding, everyone seemed to figure out that he was just saying this to get people to choose him. He then went on to explain how they should decide on who the class rep should be: a vote.
Although many voiced their questions about how everyone would just vote for themselves and whether they could make the right decision, seeing as they had only all known each other for a few days. "That may be true, but whoever gets the most votes is surely someone who others think can lead," He said with such confidence, although it was clear that he was just saying this to get more votes.
That's why Haruka didn't vote for him and instead put her vote to Midoriya. Even from their conversation they had yesterday, she had his feeling that Midoriya would be much easier to to talk to, though that depends on whether he is mumbling his words. Eventually the results came in and they got their answer: With 3 Votes: Izuku Midoriya. And for Vice President: Momo Yaoyorozu.
Everyone then started to chatter around, "Yeah, Ican deal with Midoriya being Class Rep" Kirishima said to Kaminari. It seemed that only two people had some issue with it, though Iida looked pained by this, "I'm sure that Midoriya will be a worthy Class Rep." Bakugou on the other immediately got up from his seat. "Alright you idiots, which one of you voted for him?" Miyumi then turned her head, looking absolutely dumbfounded and genuinely confused and said with very much sarcasm: "You actually thought that we'd vote for you?"
Sero said something along the same lines, though Bakugou didn't seem to listen. Not that he could do anything about it as Midoriya and Yayorozu stood in front of the class, Midoriya shaking like a leaf with all eyes on them. It seemed like the perfect moment as Aizawa suddenly woke up from his nap, starling Midoriya half to death. "Whatever, let's start the class already" He said with much tiredness.
When Lunch time came around, Haruka once again found herself looking for a place to sit. She made sure to keep far away from the large crowds of tables which were nearly packed, she was still looking for a place to sit, with her try in hand when she found a nearly empty table at the far back of the mess hall. There was only one person sitting at that table and he was currently eating what looked like some spicy food.
Bakugou stopped eating his food when Haruka sat down, and it became clear he was already in a hostile mood; "What do you want damn Deku!' He shouted, some of the food escaping from his mouth.
Haruka shrieked as she somewhat jumped in her seat as Bakugou stood up from his, eyes glaring at her, his hands already making small explosions in his hands. "Ahh! I'm Not Midoriya though!" She cried our panicky, frantically moving her hands out as a shield. It was then that he stopped and actually stared at Haruka, and face sort of lifted in sudden realisation. "Wait... you're not Deku…"
Haruka's suddenly felt irked by his comment,, "Do I look like Midoriya to you?"
Bakugou's expression of surprise quickly faded as he went back to his usual expression., "It's not my fault you look like him. You have the same green hair as him!"
"Um.. There's clearly a difference between us!" She pointed down under her eyes at the green moss streaks sharply, Bakugou looked like he was going to say something before Haruka pulled her sleeves up to reveal the moss streaks across both of her arms. She then finally pointed over to the table where Midoriya, Uraraka and Iida were currently eating at, "So, as you can see." She said, starting to calm down now, "I don't really look like Midoriya."
Bakugou's eyes suddenly bulged, clearly this had hit a nerve for him as he suddenly yelled: "You're just like that damm Deku!"
Haruka felt her face now start to burn suddenly, although she knew why, she didn't seem to care that she was already starting to Mimic Bakugou, she had already passed the point of stopping this conversation . "D-do you even know what my name is? Its Haruka! HA-RU-KA? Do you just get angry at anyone who like like Midoriya? Jeez!"
"Hah?"
"What do you mean 'Hah?' All that you've done since you've come here is yell!" She then started to lean in towards the table, "I don't know if i should be more worried about your vocal cords than your own power!"
It was then she suddenly realised how close she was to Bakugou and immediately protracted herself back into her seat, quickly taking deep breaths in and out, Crap, Why did I allow myself to get so close to him? Bakugou raised an eyebrow, as he saw Haruka almost looked flustered by this, her eyes looking red. This pissed him off evenmore. "You're making fun of me aren't you? You damn nerd!"
"Eh?"
Bakugou growled, "You're acting like that damn Deku again!"
"I'm being myself, what do you want from me?"
The two stared at each other, before Bakugou sat back down in his seat, eating his spicy food again. "Whatever…"
Haruka stared at Bakugou for a moment, her heart beat now returning to normal as she too got started on eating her lunch. Seriously, what is this guy's deal? All he seems to be doing is picking a fight with anyone who breathes. She looked up at Bakugou who was no longer paying any attention to her, If he keeps this up, he's not gonna be a very approachable hero.
It was just as Haruka was taking a few bites of her food that a loud siren began to ring throughout the mess hall. Haruka jumps at the sound, What's going on? She looked over to Bakugou, who looked just as confused as she did. While some of the students looked confused at each other, many of the other students seemed to be almost in a panic as they quickly get our of their seats and rushing our. As people were passing them by, she her smalls snippets of people's conversation: "That alarm's meant to warm us on an intruder. Someone managed to break into the school!"
Haruka started to tremble as she watched people pass by, She slowly started to follow them our into the main corridor. But when she got their, her head felt heavy.
The entire corridor was packed full of students. It wasn't like it usually is, with plenty of room for others to move around.
No, everyone was pressed together, shoving and almost trampling over each other. Haruka's heart was now going so hard she could feel it in her ears, as she felt herself being pushed and shoved further along the corridor. Ok, ok, ok,ok,ok,ok just breath she thought hurriedly, Breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe. But as she breathed in, she could feel all of their air that she was breathing in suck out of her. This is bad, This is bad, This is bad, This is bad, This is bad, This is bad, This is bad, This is bad.
She tried to walk back towards where she had entered from, but felt several hard hands and arms push her forward. There's too many people she thought, as she started to hyperventilate. I need… I need to get our… Can someone let me out? Haruka stopped where she was, her head was spinning and everyone around her looked so distorted and stretched. Why's there so many people? Haruka's eyes started to brim with tears, but she hadn't noticed, Why Why WhyWhyWhyWhy why why why-
Before she knew it, she felt a strong hand rab onto hers and pushed her body back. She felt somewhat numb by this, and barely had any idea of what was going on, but before she could even comprehend what was happening, she was out of the corridor and outside the building. Haruka stood there, she could still feel the overwhelming amount of people even from outside.
I'm… Ok? She felt her knees weaken as she fell onto them, taking long breaths of fresh air. Her heartbeat was still beating rapidly though not as fast now, as she long to catch her breath. It was a while before she suddenly felt someone's hand gently touch her shoulder. She stiffened and looked sharply at the person, though her gaze softened at who it was.
Miyumi was standing behind her, her mouth was now frowning at her and her eyes were cast gently onto Haruka's. She didn't say anything, but gently gave a small squeeze of what must have been comfort. "You ok?" She asked after a while. Haruka didn't speak immediately, she kept breathing in and out until she spoke in barely a whisper: "I think so… maybe."
She slowly got up to her feet, keeping her back towards Miyumi, whose hand was still placed on her shoulder. "Where do you think these intruders are?' Miyumi asked, now looking onward at the school grounds. Haruka looked around her too, her vision still somewhat blurry from her tears. It went long before they both saw it, though Haruka only saw it after her vision started to clear. In the far distance, to where the entrance to the school was a large long line of people, though both girls recognised them as the reporters and news spoke that had tried to get interviews from them that morning.
"How'd they get here? I thought no one could get into U.A.'' Miyumi now turned her whole body towards them, the two were a great distance from them, though it was very clear that they hadn't been seen. "That's probably why their aren't any teachers stopping the mob inside."
Haruka finally spoke again, her voice still shaky from before, "Where should we go then?"
"Not back in their'' Miyumi reassured her, "We should be able to go through one of the back entrances to one of the buildings. And from their we should head to our classroom." Haruka nodded as Miyumi led the way, making sure to keep far away from the mess hall. Haruka was far behind her as they walked, stopping behind walls to make sure that there was no press waiting for them before continuing.
I'm gonna need to be by myself for a while after this she thought, I'm gonna end up Mimicing someone like I did with Bakugou. She looked up at Miyumi as she found the back door to the main building for the first years, "Umm.. what do we do if there's any…" she didn't even get to finish her sentence before Miyumi cut her off, still keeping the same gentle tone, "It's gonna be fine, have faith that our teacher can handle the press. And besides, I'll be here in case we have to turn them to stone."
Haruka stared at Miyumi and for a brief moment she saw the Miyumi she had known as a child. The girl who had said everything would be alright because she could help everyone, the girl who would laugh at anyone, especially Yoshio who would try and make fun of her. Had she always been that girl? Were you always shining so brightly?
Haruka looked hesitantly down at the ground and finally looked up at her, determined. Yeah, you always know what to do. And that's one of the many good things about you. The two slowly made their way into the building and stealthily made their way up the stairs until they got to the floor they both knew was familiar. "What are we gonna do when we get to the classroom?" Haruka asked as they walked down the corridor
"We'll barrage the door and hide ourselves until we know that the threat is gone, that's what they taught us back in middle school right?" Haruka nodded as they continued until they got to their classroom door. Miyumi stopped Haruka before opening the classroom door and checking inside. Once the coast was clear, she ushered Haruka in, who quickly closed the door behind her and began to bring the chairs against it. They acted quickly, going through each row and taking their until eventually there was a large sum of chairs now barricading the door.
"And now we just wait it out," Miyumi said as she sat down against the same wall that the door was on. Haruka did this as well, though she sat a metre away from Miyumi. As she rested her back against the wall, she now suddenly remembered about her classmates and how they were still trapped in that hallway with all of the other students. Her head starts to spin slightly just by thinking about it, as she looks down at her hand and sees her vision start to go fuzzy. Miyumi turns her head over to Haruka and sees the worried expression plastered on her face. "Hey let's not think about what's going on right now. Let's think about something else instead"
"Like what?"
"Ermmm.." she begins to ponder, "Do you still like Tempura?"
Haruka looked at her surprised, Tempura was one of her favourite foods as a child and it still was. She remembers that I like that? What else does she remember?
"Umm.. yeah.."
"I knew it!" She whispered loudly, "I couldn't remember if you liked that or Fumihiro did."
"Fumihiro liked Yakitori, you would always ask him for some of his lunch."
"You remember that? Damn, you must have a good memory."
Haruka smiles slightly, her gaze towards the floor as she wrapped her hands around her knees, resting her chin on top of them. "Well, I guess…. Umm.. do you still like Umm…" she tried her best to think of something to keep the conversation somewhat going, but came up with nothing.
"Do you still like to go gardening?" Miyumi asked, "I know you still read those giant books at school, but what about the books you'd read when were we're kids?"
"Yeah… sometimes, when I'm by myself, I usually end up reading them. They were my dads so they would usually have little notes around the border."
"Yeah I remember, you used to bring them with you everywhere at school. You said they could be used as a weapon if there were any villains around." Haruka let out a small chuckle, it was so strange for her and yet it came so naturally. "They were heavy enough to do enough damage." It was Miyumi's turn to laugh now, though she tried her best to keep her voice down. The two looked at each other after Miyumi's laughter died down, with Haruka looked almost astonished at her. Did I just have a whole conversation with Miyumi? We haven't done that since that incident last year.
Haruka turned her head away as Miyumi pulled something our from the pocket of her skirt. It was her phone and some ear phones. She plugged them in and offered one of the ear jacks to Haruka. "Wanna have a listen? We might as well pass the time doing something." Haruka looked at the ear jack tha Miyumi was offering and started to make some mumbled protest as to why not. If I accept this, I'll have to get close!
"It's fine."
"?"
"You don't have to get too close to me if you don't want to. I think you've made it pretty clear to everyone in class that you're not a fan of being around people. But I' pretty sure you'll warm up to them, that's a thing that happens around you."
Haruka looked down at the earphone once again, then she scotted over, enough that she could place the earphone in her right ear. Miyumi then held the phone between them, music starting to play in both ears.
"Moon Pride! Anata no chikara ni narita ii Namida wa hoho o tsutai
hitomi wa akaku moeru, Inazuma no you ni hageshiku, dare ka ga ai o sakebu."
They listened to this for quite some time, barely rendering the reason why they were there, until the sudden commotion at the door snapped them back to reality.
"Why can't we get inside?"
"Is the door locked?"
"What is the MEANING of this?"
There was a sudden hard grasp against the door as the chairs suddenly collapsed onto the floor, as Haruka and Miyumi held their breath, they recognised those voices.
Iida began to enter the room, stumbling over the chairs as he did. He then looked around and saw Haruka and Miyumi sitting the floor their mouths agape with shock. More of their classmates started to come in.
"Haruka, Miyumi how did you two get here?" He asked, walking over to them with stride. The girls got up, brushing their skirts slightly. "We saw the intruders and came in here to hide," Miyumi explained, "Then we used the chairs to barricade the door when someone tried to come in." Iida looked at both s tthen nodded, "I see, well it's good to see you're both alright."
"Oi, who moved my seat over here!"
They all turned and saw Bakugou now grabbing his seat which Haruka had grabbed to barricade the door.
"Uh… sorry" she said waving her hands apologetically. This made him even more angry.
"So it was you! You really must like picking a fight with me, eh?"
Haruka let our a shriek as she backed alongside the wall, Miyumi on the other hand looked somewhat amused at Bakugou's outburst.
"Come on, this was way better than being trapped in that corridor anyway. And besides, at least we weren't shoving into each other to get to the front."
"Eh, your picking a fight with me to?"
"Me? Nah you must be imagining it."
Haruka the watches as Bakugou glared daggers at Miyumi while she had a smug grin on her face. As they did their stand off, more of their classmates started to come in, grabbing their chairs and putting them back to their desks, all while talking about the events that occurred in the mess hall.
"Good thing Iida was able to get everyone's attention back their huh?"
"Yeah, it pretty funny seeing him holding onto the exit sign though."
"He can be exit sign Iida."
It wasn't for another 5 minutes that Aizawa finally came into class, looking somehow more exhausted than usual. He didn't seem to bothered as he started the class as normal.
The next morning in class, Midoriya and Yayayozaru were standing at the front. It was time for them to decide who the class captains were going to be. Midoriya looked a bit timid as he fiddled with his fingers.
"Umm… before we do anything I want to say something…"
Everyone looked at him now.
"...I think Iida should be class Rep. He did such a great job with calming everything down yesterday, so I'm gonna give the job to him."
Haruka stared at Midoriya, did you seriously just do that? She turned her head back to Iida who looked very happy as this news, though he did his best to look serious. She then suddenly thought back to what Miyumi said to her yesterday. "I think you've made it pretty clear to everyone in class that you're not a fan of being around people. But I' pretty sure you'll warm up to them, that's a thing that happens around you."
Perhaps she's right, she thought, turning her head back to the front, even with my power, I still want be able to talk to my classmates. I want to feel like I did yesterday when I spoke with Bakugou and with Miyumi. I wanted to feel alive.
This small announcement was cut short as Aizawa, who barely anyone remembered being their. "It doesn't matter what your decision is, we've got work to do." Midoriya freaked our once again as he and Yayarozu quickly got back into their seats. Aizawa got out of his sleeping bag and stood in front of the class. "Now for today's basic Hero Training… Preparing you for disaster relief, from fires to floods It's rescue training." He then told them to get into their hero costumes and to wait around near the bus bay, though he says one more thing before he leaves. "You can choose to wear whatever you want to this, though you should know that your hero costumes may restrict what you can do." He them left.
Everyone quickly got changed into their hero costumes and went to the bus bay. Midoriya howveer was the only one not wearing a his, and was instead wearing the PE uniform. That's right, his hero costume got practically destroyed during the battle exercise, Haruka thought as she saw Uraraka ask about it. Then Iida began to order everyone into two lines so that they could get into their seats quickly and efficiently, he did this all while blowing a whistle. It got annoying very fast for Haruka, but even more so when the actually got into the bus and it was completely different from what Iida had told them. Haruka sat along next to Miyumi on a seat bench that was not far away from where Kaminari and the others were.
"This is getting pretty exciting huh?" Miyumi turned to Haruka, excitedly. "Hmm." The dear they were sitting on was quite small, the two just were barely able to sit down. And thus Haruka couldn't keep her distance this time. But that wasn't what she focussing on, as she watched the other chatting about their quirks. Their conversation then turned to who was the strongest.
"I'd say the strongest in our class would be Bakugou and Todoroki." Haruka then turned her head to Bakugou who was sitting next to Jirou, his head move slightly to them and then back to the window he was staring at.
Tsui spoke next and without any bluntness, "Yeah, but Bakugou is always angry so he'll be popular." Immediately Bakugou got up from his seat, rearing with anger, "You nerd, I'll kick your ass!"
"See?" She pointed at him, his face turned into a snarl.
It was Kaminari's turn to bully him now, "You know we basically just met you, so its kinda telling that we know that your personality is crap mixed with garbage." Bakugou now turned his attention towards Kaminari "You'll regret the day you ever applied to this school loser!"
While all this was happening, Miyumi looked like she was also going to join in in bullying, but Haruka quickly whispered to her, "Don't start anything.." Though it seemed to have done nothing as Bakugou's eyes now turned to them.
"Eh? What are two saying over there? I'll kick your ass!"
Haruka didn't flinch at his had words at this time and instead their at him, before turning back to Miyumi, "So about the rescue exercise…"
"Stop ignoring me!"
Haruka continued to ignore him as the bus finally came to a stop at their destination. When they all hoped for the bus, they stood before a large circular building with it's entire roof being made out of glass planes. They all quickly made their way inside, and that was when they all stopped and stared.
This building looked much bigger on the inside than it did the outside, with different sections all around, a large lake with a ship somewhat submerged, a small one which looked tinted with red flames and an area which looked very much like the one they had used for the battle exercise. Though those were the only few Haruka go to look at before their attention was brought to the other hero Aizawa mentioned would be taking the class with him.
A woman stood in a large spacesuit, wearing her helmet on her head. Haruka had recognised this as being the Space Her: Thirteen, she had seen her a few times on the news about her rescues.
It seemed that many others had recognised her, as Midoriya and Uraraka seemed to be slightly fanboying about her. She went on and began to explain what they would be doing for the . Haruka listened to her intently, Rescuing people… She looked down at her hands, yeah.. Yeah I can do that can't I? Thirteen then concluded her speech by telling them: "Your powers are not meant to inflict harm. I hope that you leave here today with the understanding that you're meant to help people." It seemed like everyone was now getting excited for this, they would once again be doing more hero stuff. And they would have too, but that didn't happen.
The lights suddenly shut off around them, making everyone look up in confusion. "What's going on?" many of them were asking, and they soon got their answer. Many metres away from them, near the centre of the USJ, something dark and purple appeared our of seemingly nowhere. And then suddenly, through that darkness, someone began to crawl our.
"Hey, I thought we were doing rescue training?" Kirishima asked, "Are these part of the-
"Stay back!'
Everyone seemed to flinch as they saw Aizawa putting his yellow goggles on. Haruka looked back to that purple portal as more people began to emerge. It was then that it became clear what they were about to face; the very thing that the heroes faced everyday.
