Arrietty woke up early today because she was really nervous about Spiller's adventure in finding Sho. She actually couldn't sleep in the first place thinking about his safety in his journey.
She immediately went outside to the place where she and Spiller would meet before his journey. Arrietty couldn't wait though, so she decided to go to Spiller's place.
When she was in front of the door of Spiller's house, Arrietty released a deep sigh before knocking. The door was opened after her first attempt.
"Hey...," she said.
"Come in." Spiller was calm.
Arrietty went inside with very careful steps.
"Sorry, my place is a mess."
"Don't be. I came here to..."
Arrietty couldn't find the words to say about her worries. But, she found courage to continue what she would like to say after a short pause.
"I came here to ask you for the last time not to go. You don't have to do this. Spiller, le..."
Arrietty wasn't able to continue because Spiller stopped here.
"My decision is final. I'm a man of my words. So, please don't stop me anymore because it would hurt my pride if I don't do this."
Arrietty only looked down with great worry. She finally understood what this journey means to Spiller. She released a deep sigh before speaking.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I'm so worried about you going out there. The world is so big, and you don't know where he is."
"And, that's the reason why this makes this adventure very exciting. I get to know more of the outside world and even enhance my hunting abilities."
Arrietty wasn't sure if she's seeing some excitement in Spiller's eyes, but she was sure he was very determined to go out there.
"Well, I guess I shouldn't be worried huh."
"You don't have to, really."
Arrietty smiled with relief and glanced at the things behind Spiller. Spiller noticed that, and he went to his stuff, trying to explain what were those.
"These are the things I'll carry with me today. My bow and arrow, knife, rope, and some herbal leaves, just in case. I'll place them in that bag."
And, he pointed his bag hanging at a corner.
"Are those all you need?"
"Yes, just the essentials. You need light packing in adventures like this. You can find other resources while on your way, anyway."
Arrietty looked at Spiller with great admiration because it was obvious that he was a skilled hunter, judging from how he answered her question.
"I see. I guess you'll be leaving tonight then?"
"Nope. That's too late. I'll be going in the afternoon, right before sunset. It's the perfect time when humans are busy on the streets. The risk of seeing me around is lower because their attention is focused on travelling, from somewhere back to their homes."
"I see. I think you're all set then."
"Yeah."
"Okay, I think I should go now."
Arrietty was about to leave when Spiller stopped her.
"Wait!"
Spiller walked closer to her.
"Arrietty, please stop worrying about me. You should be worrying about yourself. You've been so 'lifeless' these years. I missed the usual Arrietty I've known."
She felt sad hearing that. But, Spiller hugged her for comfort. She only let him because she knew she needed that.
"Promise me Arrietty, whatever happens to my search for that human boy, try to come back. Be happy again," Spiller whispered in her ear.
That made her cry. Spiller was always like a family to her and her parents.
Spiller, if only I could force my heart to you. All of these would be easy, and we won't have problems.
"I will. I promise you."
Spiller even thighted his hug and then released her. He was looking at her very passionately.
Arrietty's heart was beating so fast. Spiller then slowly moved his head towards her's.
Arrietty only closed her eyes, allowing him to do whatever he wishes. After a few seconds of waiting, Arrietty heard Spiller released a deep sigh. She then opened her eyes.
"I think you should leave now. You're parents might be wondering where you are.
Spiller was only making that a reason so she would leave.
"Okay, I know I've bothered you so much already."
"No, you didn't."
She only smiled at him.
"See you."
Spiller smiled at her in reponse.
When Arrietty left the house, Spiller was left with pain in his heart. It was like there was a sword piercing through his heart.
He allowed all his emotions to come out as he silently cried. As he was crying, something was also mysteriously happening at Sho's house.
The doll house was glowing like there were fireflies in there. But, nobody noticed it because Sho was already downstairs, eating breakfast.
It was a magical light that suddenly appeared without anyone knowing it.
When Spiller recovered from the emotional downpour, he decided to continue packing his things.
Meanwhile, Arrietty went straight up her room after visiting Spiller. Her mind was filled with various thoughts and emotions.
She sat down the stool that's in front of the mirror and looked at her reflection in the mirror.
How did this all happened? We were perfectly living at Sho's house back then.
This is all my fault! I shouldn't have shown myself to Sho. I should have listened to my parents after all.
Spiller, I wish you come back here safe and sound as soon as possible. I won't forgive myself if something bad happens to you.
Then, she suddenly realized something.
What if Spiller can't go back? What if...
"He dies?"
Arrietty shook her head for the thought.
"No, he's strong! He will come back safe," she convinced herself.
"But if that really happens, I'll leave the Borrowers and won't show myself to them ever. I'm already a disgrace to them. I can't allow to add another mistake."
Arrietty's confused, overthinking, guilty, and nervous. She started all these, and now, everyone she values is affected.
If only there's someone out there who's powerful enough to correct things and make everything normal again.
But, at that moment, she didn't know her wish was actually becoming real. Who or what could that be that's granting her wish?
